despite swearing i would not go down this path again i've inevitably started watching another straight people soap opera jdrama and i am wheezing over this scene i just experienced where the main character (middle aged dad) goes to a hotel with the woman he's having an affair with and just happens to get in the same elevator as his college aged daughter and her sugar daddy. and they literally look at each other like this

sometimes these shows are worth it entertainment-wise after all

fansubber i follow on twitter has been reporting in on drama surrounding the sexy tanaka-san live action i.e. the manga author absolutely loathed what they did to it and had to strongarm her way in to get rewrites done but only managed it for some early episodes and several others went (are yet to go?) to air in a state she totally disapproved of & was publicly unhappy about which is like. really sucks but such is the way of adaptation sometimes.

except, um.

update: apparently she fucking killed herself!?? like. oh my god. i can only assume she must have had far more weighing on her than just a poorly done live action of her work. manga is such a grueling industry in general. but. as someone who doesn't know any further details i can only sit here and think of it as a jdrama so bad the original creator decided to die rather than live in the same world as it.

so i guess... i will be taking it off my plan to watch list. in respect to the recently deceased and her stance on it? 😰 rest in peace ma'am...

lots of truly wild things happen in VIVANT of the international subterfuge variety but the main moment to make me go "oh my god" so far is when they walk into a character's apartment and his entire room is an otaku shrine to ultraseven

tried the first ep of fermat no ryouri and it's. hm. maybe a little too anime to fully work in live action? some of these scenes just feel very unnatural with real people. but seeing all this fancy-ass food for real rather than in illustration is a plus. and i'll admit im intrigued by this hells kitchen sex dungeon that jun's character lives in (??) with 2 other men one of which is akashi boukenred. hopefully they're not like. related so i won't regret saying that later
