Understanding Lennon McCartney Rewatch Part 1.3

Okay can anyone explain the “false hotel registration” thing to me? Does it mean they registered under a false name? So Paul registered under a false name so he could go fuck a girl in his room without getting in trouble with the press? I'm confused. Didn't they bring girls to their rooms all the time without getting in trouble? It doesn't make sense. Why did he feel the need to register under a different name?

Paul, talking about American conservatism, “So many organizations over here that are nuts anyway.” John, “Yeah, they're so far right they just–” tape ends. They really were brave, though. To say what they thought and risk losing what they'd only just got. I wonder who cut the recording.

Journalist: Paul, are you planning to marry Jane Asher? John: scream ‘no.’ Go on. Lol John certainly says what he feels doesn't he?

Paul making fun of the racist question. Good job bud.

The whole “Yesterday” thing is crazy. Like, what a feat, first of all. I think we forget how unbelievably successful the song was.

Second of all, I know John's reaction was childish and mean, but his feelings were valid if you just look at the treatment and reception of “Ticket to Ride” (John's dead mum song). Like objectively yesterday is a better song, but still.

Oh, John. Poor thing.

If “Girl” is secretly about Paul . . . yeesh. It's so obsessive and adoring and simultaneously so disappointed and disparaging. John always has such impossible standards for Paul. “She promises the earth to me and I believe her, after all this time I don't know why.” Um… maybe because he literally did give you the world? At so many points I find myself asking, “what more could Paul possibly have given John?”

People always take this quote as a sexuality thing, but couldn't it also be a conscience thing? Revulsion at taking advantage of the fact that all these women are fans? At the scale of his infidelity? I don't know, am I giving him too much credit?

The thing about Paul, John – and though it drives you insane, it's a big factor in why you love him -- is he's not going to be bullied into anything. If he decides to take LSD it's going to be on his own terms. And I know you think it'll bring you two closer, and you're right, but peer pressure just doesn't work on him. There's no point. You know that.

I LOVE Paul and the Indica. Designing the wrapping paper in secret up in his little attic room, covering over the shop windows so he can do his handyman work building shelves and painting in peace. It's Linda's Paul pre Linda, you know?

John is so good at PR as in making something sound as beautiful and important and powerful as possible. Which is something Paul absolutely relied on John to do and clearly could not do on his own after the break up. Look how John makes them almost into prophets here.

"I really wanted to live in London but I wouldn't risk it." Another thing to make John envious of Paul and resentful of Cynthia. I really wish those two had just never got married.

“I don't object to people having a lot of money, I never did. But I do object to people being stony broke and starving.” RIP John, you would've loved the American “left” of today. But you can't have the former without the latter, sorry.

This picture always gets me. It's ridiculous. Pattie and George. Mo and Ringo. John and Paul. With Cynthia awkwardly by herself. It's funny. It's adorable. It's crushing. And with that quote? It's impossible.

I think Tara Browne is overlooked. Paul brought him home for Christmas. That's a big deal. And John hated him enough to laugh when he read about his death. That's also a big deal. Paul and his messed up social climbing obsession. I do think it's worth pointing out, though, the difference between Paul’s LSD trip with Tara and his trip with John. More on that later.

I really do think they were all staunchly anti-racist for their time, you know, besides John's racist jokes and drawings… but Paul particularly. And I have to wonder where that came from. Did he have empathy for people being judged on appearance and background? Was it partially due to his idolization of black artists? Did Little Richard maybe say something to him about racism in America? Anyone have any thoughts?

Actually, same, John.

Okay and I have to share my hot take on the whole Jesus scandal. It's this: the American right doesn't actually care about Jesus. They care about protecting their hegemony. They didn't like that the Beatles were openly and stubbornly integrationist. They didn't like Paul's comment about their inhumane racism. But they couldn't openly counter that without showing their hand. So they used the Jesus comment as an excuse. If they play the religious persecution card, they get to paint themselves as the victims and therefore the good guys while they take down anyone who challenges the status quo that keeps them in money and power (aka the Beatles).

Maybe I should've had a “poor baby” tally because the number of times I've said that about John in these comments has got to be tally-worthy. I would've driven around in a gorilla suit with you, honey!

It is actually amazing that there hasn't been more speculation on Paul's sexuality with all these serious boyfriends.

Paul tells a story about a time he flew a plane, and how much better he liked it than being a passenger. First off. Imagine being a pilot and just being like “oh, you've never touched a joystick in your life, but you're Paul McCartney? Sure, go ahead. Fly the plane.” But also. His control issues and his confidence are both off unreal. No one in their right mind would feel more safe flying a plane – as someone with a complete lack of experience – than when a licensed pilot is flying it.

Okay I literally JUST learned that Here There and Everywhere says, “how good it can be” not could. Can. And it's one of those in my "for sure this was about John" folder. Okay then. Wow.

The thing is they really did compliment each other's songs a lot more than modern Paul makes it seem like. So I wonder what it was about the “Here There and Everywhere” compliment that made it so special to Paul?

Daci and I, for a while, couldn't stop quoting the ContraPoints clip used early on to reference "The inherent eroticism of the sea."

It's a really funny video (I am called out SEVERAL TIMES) and the channel did a bunch of similar videos for other shows.

Anyway everyone is surprised to see Scorpia :D

Anyway Scorpia explains why she wants to go find/save Entrapta, who's on Beast Island, and:

they relate various stories about the horrors of Beast Island and Shadow Weaver insists they're nicer than the actual place, it's starting to sound like some bad joke about Etheria's version of Australia

They all decide to go to Beast Island to rescue Entrapta but Glimmer is having NONE of it

OKay I'm not typing up the whole damn episode you can read the transcript if you really want to, lol they argue about this for a bit longer, Glimmer even recommends they ask Light Hope how to use it even though that's a terrible idea, Glimmer tries to appeal to Bow but Bow is on Adora's side on this one

Scorpia's "prison cell" is a very nice spare room. Perfuma brings her a salad and Scorpia doesn't recognize it as food immediately, the poor thing has only ever had ration bars.

Frosta: "It's not a sleepover!!! Perfuma: ":D I'll get pillows, brb!"

But then Frosta asks about her pincers with genuine interest and makes ones for herself out of ice...and Scorpia starts to cry

What Sex and The City Did & Didn't Teach Me About Love - Part 2: True Love Amongst Friends

With my move to the Big Apple and the next big chapter of my life approaching soon, I've had a renewed appreciation for my friends.

Lately I've been remembering that gap year I took before going to college, when art school broke my heart and I trapped in my mother's cruel cold house, working two full time jobs with part-time pay and no benefits, working at one place at 4am and the working the next one til 10pm.

The biggest thing I remember during that year was my loneliness; I remember thinking "oh yay! in college I can make friends and maybe find my future husband and reintroduce myself however I want to because nobody knows me." I remember crying myself to sleep, having no one to talk to about my traumas and the issues with my mom - instead I worked 60+ hours a week to try to get away from it all and avoid the realizations. I don't remember if I had any days off really, just shortened days. I remember how I longed for somebody to talk to; I would attempt to film cringe story-times for YouTube and instead rambled into my microphone for 45+ minutes. I remember posting on Snapchat and wishing I had someone to tag, or wishing I could go back through Snap Memories to rewatch fun moments with friends I could send those snaps to. I remember resenting those online who gushed and cried over their incredible online friends. I remember feeling so afraid to ask work friends to hang out and the pain of never being invited out when they got drinks on Cinco de Mayo or hosted gift exchanges or tried a new coffee spot in town.

Now, I have such lovely friends. There's a quote from Winnie the Pooh that says something to the tune of "how lucky am I to have such good friends that make saying goodbye so hard." I've been feeling that a lot lately. Thankfully I was born in the era of social media, so it's easier than ever to keep in contact with friends all across the globe. And my girlies know this too - we'll only be a facetime call away, a Snapchat message apart, the distance of a text message.

But it'll never be the same as all those times we ran to Walmart on nothing but crackhead energy and a dying will to live, or the many homework and study sessions we had over Instagrammable coffees and over-priced pizza, or the late-night talks that gave us much-needed epiphanies at 4am, or the last-minute favors for final projects, or the birthday dinners, or the talks in the car in front of my apartment to dump childhood trauma, or the cooking shows only performed for each other, or the sitting across from each other in the hall crying because we have exams next week and in another life we might've been Broadway stars, or the hangover brunches, or the bimbo drives to who-knows-where, or the TikToks we shared that made us laugh until our stomachs hurt, or the comfort and desperation to help each other, or the occasional shy admiration and love we'd admit we felt for each other when the exhaustion or alcohol hit the weak spot in the wall we kept up over our heart.

In Sex and the City, the girls are talking about the idea of soulmates, and Charlotte says that, though often "soulmates" are thought to be romantic relationships, it's perfectly fair and honest for them as friends to consider each other soulmates.

Before I started college (and therapy) I tended to think that the most powerful love was the love shared between spouses; best friends, partners, lovers. I was anxious for a relationship because I wanted to experience love - I wanted to love someone and be loved just as much back.

Literally an hour ago, I realized that I have that beautiful experience right now; I truly deeply genuinely love my friends.

I love how Panda's life may be a literal MTV show full of drama and chaos, but no matter what she'll always hope the best for you and be your biggest cheerleader. I love how Minimom's presence alone says she cares about you because honestly if she didn't like you she wouldn't be in the same room as you because she'd rather stay at home. I love how Bambi will always make you feel special, whether you're her identical twin or the polar opposite extreme of her. I love how Barbie tells a story and it doesn't feel like she does it just to be heard but to also value you as a listener. I love how Picasso will gush over the dream for you when you're scared to chase it. I love how Dr Doolittle comes up to hug you when you're emotionally exhausted because just by looking at you she knows you need it. I love how Ariel won't make you feel bad for overeating or struggling with body dysmorphia or secretly wishing you could punch a certain person in the face. I love how Gem will encourage and support you without pitying you. I love how Pip feels a genuine joy in your happiness and dram-chasing. I love how BeerBabe hasn't hung out with you very much but will make you feel like you've been buddies for years. I love how Abbott is soft-spoken but says some very powerful things that confirm that she hears you and values what you have to say. I love how Poison Ivy will still remember the fun y'all had even months and several life-changing events later like you can pick up right where you left off.

And as purely as I love them.. they love me just as much back.

They forgive me when I go hours or days or weeks or months without a reply because life threw me into a tidal wive. They cry when I cry and don't make me feel weak for it. They celebrate my victories, expecting nothing in return. They see me authentically and make sure to show me how much they accept me. They encourage me to grow, dream, and pursue. They get excited and joyous when I am like the joys are their own. They don't judge me. They don't feel an entitlement to control me. They want to see me win like it's their own race.

They love me.

They've changed my life.

They're the kind of friends I'd take a bullet for, the kind of friends I'd go through all of my traumas all over again for - if it meant befriending them again and knowing them the way that I do now.

In my gap year before college, I cried, desperately hoping my lonely heart would be put back together by the right person.

Right now, 5 weeks before college graduation, I cry because I have angels for friends who make my heart swell and make moving on to the next part of my life so glorious and also so hard.

😂 - What moment in Season 3 made you laugh the hardest?

'Olivia & Yunan', when Marcy was just out of the tank and she just couldn't say things properly : "Lead the way, Lady OliviYAH and... Captain YOOhoo~" and then falls down. So fucking hilarious.

A runner up is in 'Turning Point', Sasha's "H-Huh? What? OF COURSE this is my natural hair color!"

💕 - What was your favorite episode from this half season?

I have 2: 'Olivia & Yunan' and 'Turning Point'. They're both damn good, I couldn't decide on just one.

⚔️ - How do you think Andrias will die? :D

Impaled. Like Green Goblin from the Sam Reimi's Spider Man movie. He'll think he have the upper hand, planning to impale Anne or some other character but they were able to dodge in time so the object goes right to him instead.

🏡 - Wartwood, Toad Tower, Newtopia or LA?

Toad Tower. I want to be as badass as Sasha and be trained along with the Toads.

😱 - Was there a scene in Season 3A that took you completely by surprise?

Most definitely Marcy's screams. That fucking traumatized me until this day. I can't even watch it properly without the need to fast forward to the time she's not screaming anymore. It's very haunting. It was surprising because I didn't expect Amphibia to go that route.

🐸 - Favorite Wartwood citizen?

Wally. I like that he doesn't give a shit about what other people thinks and although he's actually a rich creature, he still decided to stay in Wartwood. It's a very nice message.

📖 - What is your favorite quote of the season?

Sasha Waybright in 'Turning Point' : I wanna be someone better. Someone that deserves you.

The reading of Anne's journal in 'Turning Point'.

I don't draw and... writing fanfictions was something of a past time. Not anymore. So... a favorite post of mine here on tumblr is the Marcanne moments compilation because I had to rewatch several episodes of them together again just to put up the screenshots. And... yeah. I just love seeing them together.

Mrs. Boonchuy. She's so damn wholesome. I love her so much. Matt Braly's mom's voice is also so damn cute. I smile whenever she talks.

👀 - What are you most excited to see in season 3B?

Anne's reaction to Dark Marcy. I wanna see her break down on the spot, like what happened in 'True Colors'. I wanna see her go apeshit at King Andrias for doing that to Marcy. And I want her to say certain things.

GOKUSEN 2 (Live Action)

Genres: Comedy , School Life , Slice of Life

Episodes: 10 + 1 TV Reunion Special

Favorite Character: Yamaguchi Kumiko and Odagiri Ryu

Favorite Episodes: Episode 1: Highschool is a once in a lifetime experience, do not waste it! ...That zealous teacher has returned!; Episode 8: I will always be your teacher; Episode 10: Be proud to graduate!! Yankumi and Class 3-D, tearful goodbye

Plot:

A few years passed since Yamaguchi left Shirokin Gakuen which closed after some time. Everything has been difficult for Yankumi the following years for her new students are little kids that doesn't suit her way of teaching. Change is on the horizon when a bad hair day came but with a little twist became okay. Mr. Sawatari Goro, Shirokin's vice Principal is in need of teacher in the school he is teaching. But not just ordinary teacher... he specifically need Yankumi! The school is Kurogin Gakuen. When she arrived in the school she was really happy till she knew that she is to handle another bunch of 3-D but this time meaner and more violent! As usual, she has to hide her background or else she'll lose her job. She does her best to be nice to every student but it seemed that it'll be harder for the students are worst than the word worst. How will she face them? Is it a new challenge? (MDL)

Gokusen 2 is really amazing! I love it so much that I don't know how many times I rewatched it. There are a lot of fight scenes. Everytime I watch the fight scenesm, it made me laugh. When Yankumi throws her glasses and take off his ponytails, you know she will be in a fight. That is one of her signature move.

The five main students of class 3-D, Odagiri, Yabuki, Tsuchiya, Hyuuga, and Takeda are really great. They may not be included in the manga, but the characters are almost the same in the first series. For example, Odagiri is like Shin in the first series. I also think he's in love with Yankumi just like Shin. Yabuki is like a mix of Tetsu and Shin, and Takeda is like Noda.

I like that Gokusen 2 have scenes related to the manga. Here are some examples: (1) When Yabuki challenged Yankumi in one on one. - Volume 1 Chapter 5 (2) The annoying cop, who keeps on blaming the 3-D. He is annoying both in manga, and live action. (3) When Odagiri and Yabuki went to Yankumi's house. Yankumi pretended that her family is a family of theater, but of course they did not believe it. - Volume 3 Chapter 24 (4) Baba-sensei is one of the teacher mentioned in the manga. (5) The English teacher, Shiratori fell in love with one of the Odeo Family. However, in the manga her name is Shizuka (which is from the first series) and instead of Tetsu she fell in love with Oshima Kyotaro which is not mentioned in any live action series. (6) Odagiri stayed in Yankumi's house just like when Shin did in the manga. Also, his dad went to Yankumi's house. - Volume 6 Chapter 50-60. (7) The school has a plan to be co-ed. - Volume 9 Chapter 84 (8) When Odagiri and Yabuki were framed in stealing jewelries. (9) Kudo is finally introduce as he also important character in the manga. I don't particularly like Kudo in the manga, but I like it when Yankumi taken him in the Oedo Family's house. (10) When Yabuki got involved with yakuza to saved Kuma. However, it's different in the manga. Anyway, in the live action this is the first time we saw Yankumi's grandfather show his connection or how powerful he is as the leader of Oedo Family.

I like that the Gokusen 2 continue Kuma's life after graduating high school. This was not included in the manga which is a great addition to the live action series. Also, the relationship/arguement between Yankumi and Head teacher Sawatari.

I recommend you to watch the Gokusen series, if you haven't. Obviously, because of the plot, Yankumi, the 3-D class students, and the life lessons.
