Rammstein 2004 MTV masters - part 9 - translation

Next part, many bits already known from a making of or other vids, but the interaction between Paul and Schneider is one of my favorites of this whole series 💕 again italic parts are my comments when i feel it adds to the translation

(and again this starts mid sentence..)

Voice over (VO): ..(to get 6 mature men..) to agree on the same thing, at Rammstein the right of the most annoying applies.

Paul (P): who is the most stubborn .. who annoys the most .. then the others say "ah no, then just do it like that ..". This is roughly how we establish our opinion. If there are only 4 there; one is on vacation, the other is in America, then the 4 say "okay, let's just go with that" and then 3 are gone again "what about the sea, are we going to do it?" "No, we do mountains .." "Oh no, mountains is rubbish, let's do that thing with the sea" and then we start again with the sea. So it is back and forth and at some point (chuckles) some cry, some die in the hospital and .. what is at the end is on top, sea or mountains, that is done.

VO: Once the idea has been discussed and fought, our 6 multi-talents devote themselves to their secret passion; the performing game.

Richard (R): First of all, eh .. we love to act so you can always tell on the set that it's always difficult to bring these 6 people down. Everyone fights for their own scene and everyone is happy when they can play a small role.

Schneider (S): One is always happy when one shines a bit (laughs)

P: If you can..eh.. just play around a bit, we're actually looking forward to it. In the dwarfs video when we chopped in the mine, it was fun, wandering around the house with Snow White, that was nice, when my bum was spanked, that wasn't so nice, that made the whole band happy.

VO: And here and there a secret special talent comes to light.

P: With "Ich Will" we were able to really act out a bit, because there are ..(looks at Schneider) .. Schneider is our.. I think Schneider is very good at depicting.. (Schneider sniggers).. he doesn't like to hear it ...(looks at Schneider, reconsidering) .. well talking, with sound, I didn't know know either, but the looking..(mimics exaggarated looking in different directions)..

S: ..to find a certain direction..(also looks in various directions)

P: ..he can do that really well..

S: ..that we can do well..

VO: The legendary Rammstein concerts are worth more than just a few views. The heart of Rammstein's staging impresses with song and light, violence, monumentality, fire and sulfur

Till (T): (bang in background) Those were the colleagues from pyrotechnics. Fantastic!

VO: Theoretically it would work without it, but a show without fuss and bangs is now practically impossible. The name Rammstein is an obligation.

P: We have 13 trucks .. we have tons of stage, we have tons of pyros, we have terrible.

Flake (F): I would have liked to stand up in the soundarea and play, but then you say, fans or those that are there say "but i bought those for the show". (this bit was difficult to understand for me)

P: And then we noticed that we don't even need to defend ourselves or counteract, there is no other way, that what we are so we have to do it.

P: It is probably our fate.. pff.. to always invest our money in rockets.

VO: But the fire devilry is not just a trademark that cannot be ignored, it also saves lives, because other stage designs are sometimes too dangerous.

P: We had the idea to switch from fire to water .. after the first electric shocks we then refrained from it, because water is really not used in rock music. Because rock music is connected to electricity ... and it just doesn't fit.

VO: And Rammstein wouldn't be Rammstein if they didn't skilfully circumnavigate the laws of physics themselves, as diligently as they experiment with taboos, they try to implement visual ideas.

T: Pyrotechnics, sound, light and we as a band.. we are trying to put together a show from the songs we have, from light and pyrotechnics somehow. These 4 things must be brought together and .. yes that is a 24 hour job.

VO: But in addition to trademarks, lifesavers and work, the banging is above all a guarantee for fun and excitement at the show. A feast for the eyes for the spectators, a challenge for the actors.

T: Now let's go down and try to do a few songs and let it bang a little.
