Our five favourite roof-terrace bars on the French Riviera
Nothing beats a tasty cocktail in a cool roof terrace after a hard day sightseeing! There are certainly plenty to choose from all along the French Riviera from terraces on top of large hotels, to smaller more cosy independantly run roof bars. Don’t always assume the best ones are on next to the sea, there are some super cool ones further back in the depths of the cities and towns too! We have done (a lot) of research and have compiled a list of five roof terrace bars that we really like. They are all a little different and cater for different budgets, but nonetheless all very cool and tourist friendly! We hope you get to try some of them! Cheers!
Bocca - Nice
Right in the heart of the old town Nice, one block back from the beach, Bocca boasts a 250 square meter roof terrace. With a cool laid-back crowd and some excellent cocktails on offer this is one place not to be missed when in Nice. Why not drop in for a long lunch or dinner and try out some of their amazing Mediterranean-inspired cuisine!  If you are looking to go just for a drink, then its open from 22:30 – 02:30 for drinkers only!
 Achill’s - Villefranche
With views over the small harbour and bay Villefranche this trendy roof top is a great place to unwind after a busy day, with a vast collection of gin, rum and whisky, the extensive cocktail list will surely cater for everyone’s taste! Originally called “Calypso” the original owner who’s name is coincidently “Achille” started a small family bar and restaurant back in 1975. In 2010 it was taken over by his grandchildren and as a kind tribute to their grandfather they renamed it Achill’s. The rooftop bar not only serves a large selection of drinks and small bites, but if you were looking for something more substantial to eat, they have a wonderful cosy restaurant below.
Nikki Beach - Monaco
If soaking up the sun with views of Monaco and the Mediterranean-sea are your thing, then you should certainly pay a visit to Nikki beach. Situated above the Fairmont hotel, this roof terrace/beach club is the place to be seen. Mingle with celebrities and fashionistas whilst sipping a cool glass of rosé and enjoying the vast swimming pool and live internationally renown Dj’s. This is a great place to spend an afternoon before heading out to experience some of the many restaurants and bars Monaco has to offer.
Cloud 9 Baoli - Cannes
Dubbed “the first mixology bar on the croisette” Cloud 9 is situated above the iconic Baoli restaurant and night club in port Pierre Canto.  The beautifully appointed roof terrace offers a panoramic 360-degree view of Cannes, all whilst settled in a tranquil and lush tropical setting. Cocktails here will surely leave you very impressed and definitely wanting more! No reservations are available, so just turn up with plenty of time to secure that idyllic position before the sun sets!
Eden Roc Bar - Cap d’Antibes
Not many roof top bars can match the glamour and history of the Eden roc. With a rich history of entertaining artists and movie stars, this incredible bar sits facing the bay of Cannes and the Lerin islands. Soak up the sun and remember to hydrate with their incredible selection of wine and cocktails. Arriving by boat? No problem, call the bar in advance and they will arrange a tender to arrive to pick you up if your boat is too big for their small dock. Dress code is strict here, so keep it classy and enjoy!

BHDC - Toni
Betty knocked on the door of a trendy townhouse in the middle of downtown.  It was a quaint, clapboard house surrounded by a lush garden filled with vegetables, herbs, and a few rare poisonous plants that caught her eye.  These were not, as Jughead put it, mere ‘acquaintances’.  She filled the information away for later questioning when the door opened and a petite woman opened the door.
“Hello, Jughead,” the woman said, a smile playing at her lips.
So this was Toni, the vampire friend.  She was gorgeous, Betty realized, in a biker don’t-mess-with-me sort of way.  Toni’s clothes matched Jughead’s aloof, messy style.  Purposeful thrifting, in a way.  Betty suddenly felt as if she’d tried to hard in selecting her outfit this morning, the pastel cardigan and boat shoes far too cutesy to fit into this crowd.  She quickly shoved that thought aside.  There were more important things than her own insecurities (insecure about what?  Toni?  Betty didn’t even know her; but Jughead did …).  Shaking the thought out of her head, Betty introduced herself.
Toni gave her a polite nod, ignoring the outstretched hand, and lead them into the ornate home. The foyer was filled with artwork from around the world.  Mayan sculptures that were weathered by hundreds of years of sunlight and rain; large French impressionist paintings of the Riviera, the paint yellowing with time; antique Japanese block prints from feudal eras long gone by; Yoruba court masks decorated with metal birds and glittering jewels.  It was an intimidating show that was more at home in a Bond villain’s lair.  Here, in a cozy modern home, it was a braggadocios display of what the gift of immortality could give, if one did it right.
They made their way down a short hallway, the rest of the house was well lit despite the late hour, crowded with antique furniture and dark wallpaper.  Gaslit sconces lit their way and Betty couldn’t help but wonder if there was an old lover trapped in the attic.  She quickened her step, her hand reaching out to grasp Jughead’s jacket.  When she remembered how flippant he’d been with her earlier, Betty dropped her hand back to her side.
“Babe?” Toni called out when they reached the end of the hallway.  “Jughead’s here.”
“Joy,” came a flippant response.
Betty stepped into a fully stocked industrial kitchen.  (Could vampires even eat?  Common knowledge told her no, but if that was the case why have a kitchen that had fresh fruit on the counter, spices in a rack, and dry goods artfully placed around the room?  Surely it wouldn’t just be for looks?)  A redheaded stepped in from the open patio door. Jughead shot her a warning glance and Betty stifled her sudden irritation.
Accusations against the Vixen’s Den bartender, the one who’d rebuffed their questions and sent them those drinks that night, flooded Betty’s mind.  Why had she done that?  Was she a part of whatever conspiracy was going on?  Was she merely an agent of chaos, as Jughead had described her?  But asking would likely do no good here, especially when she held information they so desperately needed.
“Cheryl,” Jughead said through gritted teeth.
“Hobo.”  Cheryl didn’t so much as look towards Betty.
Jughead’s hands clenched and Betty realized they were standing on thin ice; between Jughead’s quick temper and Cheryl’s lack of interest this would be a quick meeting if things didn’t settle down.
“Thank you for seeing us,” Betty said with her brightest smile.  She took a seat at kitchen island and dug out her notepad.  She’d dealt with this sort of person before; flattery and sickly sweet attention would do far better than demanding answers.  With her pen poised, Betty devoted her full attention to Cheryl.  “Jughead mentioned you were one of the best sources of information when it came to the underground.”
Preening under the false compliment, Cheryl gave a coy smile.  Everyone in the room knew it was a lie, but the admissions was enough to pull her out of her prickly shell.
“Is that so?”  Cheryl shook her hair out, a sheen to it that could only be achieved by a mix of magic and chemistry, and settled into the bar stool next to Betty.  “Toni’s told me so much about your little exploits.  Cheryl Blossom.”
Betty took the limp, downturned hand.  Did she really expect her to grovel?  This bitch…
“I’m afraid you have the upper hand here.  I know so little about you,” Betty replied.  Before Cheryl could realize she’d sidestepped introductions, Betty flipped to an open page in her notebook.  “Toni mentioned you were at The Woods a few weeks ago?”
Cheryl sighed theatrically and picked up an apple.  “Poor Josie.  Is she still missing?”
‘Josie?’ Betty mouthed at Jughead.
He rolled his eyes.  “Yes, Cheryl.  She’s still missing, along with-“
Cheryl waved her hand at him and tutted.  “Your loss is no bigger than mine, Forsythe, and you’d do well to remember that.”
Jughead’s lip curled as he pushed himself off the counter and Betty jumped in quickly before they lost the only lead they had.
“She went missing?”
“Yes.  It was their 50th Anniversary blowout.  Val and Melody -“
“Her bandmates,” Toni added.
“-saw her before the show, but after they left the dressing room she was never seen again.”
Betty tapped her pen against her lips.  “Did they notice anyone hanging about?  Strangers, someone who seemed out of place?”
Cheryl shook her head.  “Not that they mentioned.”
“Did you got to her dressing room?”
Cheryl’s eyes narrowed.  “If you’re implying -“
“Quit,” Jughead snapped.  “She’s trying to help.”
Toni raised her eyebrows in surprise.  A surprised reaction, but why?  He and Cheryl were at odds, and from what Betty had seen it wasn’t out of the ordinary.  And from Cheryl’s smirk, it seemed as if she’d been trying to bait him all along.  Unless…
“We were in the audience,” Toni said in the lengthening silence.  “A lot of the underground was there, it would have been weird if we didn’t make an appearance.  The lighting is never the best there, but I didn’t notice anything unusual.”
“What about the fae?” Betty asked as she flipped through the last few pages of notes.  “Were they -“
“They weren’t involved,” Cheryl said quickly.  “I would know if they were.”
Betty jotted the assertion down.  This was the third person - Veronica, Reggie, and now Cheryl - who’d insisted they weren’t involved.  Strange, considering the rumors that were swirling through the covens.  Rumors that the fae had shut their doors against all but the most select of persons, along with a few who’d been taken against their will.
“There were a few humans, though,” Tonia said after a moment.  “Sweets had to take Fangs home early for a nightcap. He didn’t think Pops would let in humans that night considering it was The Cats playing.”
“I was surprised myself,” Cheryl added.
She slipped her hand through Toni’s and toyed with the ring on her finger, gaze directed at Jughead.  He shook his head and shifted against the counter, his hip bumping up against Betty’s arm.  Her words skipped across the page and she elbowed him playfully in response.
“There are rules, after all, about letting humans into underground spaces like that.  Especially when The Pussycats have been playing together for over five hundred years.  They might get ideas.”
“I thought you said it was their 50th Anniversary?” Betty asked, hoping it was a crack in their story that might lead to something, anything that could give them some direction.
“Yes, their 50th Anniversary playing at The Woods.  Pop got an exclusive contract with them in the 70’s.  They’ve been playing together since at least Jericho, probably even earlier,” Cheryl said.
“What about the humans?”  Betty asked, sure they were chasing their tails on this one.  “Who was letting them in?”
“Perhaps you should ask Pop, or that weirdo DJ of his.  Dorkus, or whatever his name is.”
“We did,” Jughead said shortly.  “He’s the one who sent us to Fangs and Toni.  He also mentioned that you’d been lurking around backstage before the concert.”
Toni stepped away from Cheryl to stare at her.  Cheryl’s hand tightened and her smile turned chilly.
“Can I not deliver a gift to my best friend of three thousand years?”
“A gift?  Funny, I wouldn’t call the pig’s heart they found in the dressing room a gift.”
Cheryl scoffed.  “It is if you’re a demi-god who moonlights as a cat.”
“Babe,” Toni chided softly.  There was a painful question in her eyes and Betty found herself looking away from the private moment.
“Later,” Cheryl promised, her gaze soft.  It hardened as she turned back to their guests.  “As for you two, I’d be more concerned about the bald, chanting, idiots in white.  Anyone who wears all white this far past Labor Day is super suss if you ask me.”
“Is there anything else you can tell us about these humans or…”
Betty trailed off.  Humans?  That was her answer?  For Cheryl to claim humans had infiltrated the underground, let alone suspect them of kidnapping a demi-god, let alone a witch and a were?  It was unthinkable.
“All I know is they were in desperate need of a spa treatment and a makeover,” Cheryl said with a curled lip.  “They even had the nerve to suggest I was one of the ignorant masses who needed their enlightenment.”
Jughead shot Betty an exasperated look and she bit down a smile.  He’d been against meeting with Cheryl from the state - his ranting about her for the thirty minute journey to the townhouse a clear signal that there was some unspoken history there - but Betty had persisted.  As unlikely a lead as humans were, it was more than they’d had this morning.
“What about -“
Betty was cut off as the patio windows blew in, glass and plant debris propelled at them by searing air.  As Betty was just beginning to process what happened, she found herself at the front door, tucked into Jughead’s arms.  Behind him Toni held Cheryl carefully in her arms.
“Stay here,” she told Cheryl, her fangs already out.
Jughead set Betty down, pausing only to brush glass from her ponytail, and was gone before Betty could take a breath.
“What the hell?” Betty asked breathlessly.  She stepped towards the kitchen and winced at the sudden pain.  A large piece of glass had cut through her cardigan to her skin.  Blood stained the light pink fabric and Betty cursed at the sight.
“Whatever it was, they’re going to wish they were in hell when I’m done with them,” Cheryl snapped.  “I just had that kitchen redone.”
She stalked towards the flames that were creeping into the hallway, fists curled in on themselves.  Betty followed, pulling out a string of spell beads as she went.

Le French Picnic is just what the doctor ordered
It’s no secret that the music industry is hanging by a thread and as we slowly come out of lockdown most live events are STILL being cancelled (sad face!). So, after being stuck at home for (way too many) months it is no surprise that musicians and music lovers have been in serious need for their LIVE music fix. And this is where ‘Le French Picnic’ comes in.
Set in hidden London locations, the brand-new outdoor event is as chic as they come and where you can enjoy a picnic with, you guessed it… LIVE MUSIC! Le French Picnic launched on Saturday 8th August and is for sure the new go-to event on the scene as it was completely sold out!
I had the pleasure of attending their first ever event and as a picnic AND music lover this is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Tumblr media
Upon arrival I was in awe of my surroundings, they really took their time to find the perfect magical location to compliment the event and make me feel like I had stepped into a picturesque park in the South of France.
After picking my jaw up off the floor I was greeted by a host and escorted to my own patch of garden where I could chill, dance and socially distance in style! For a couple of hours, I was transported out of 2020 and to a time of good vibes only all of the troubles of this dreaded year were melted away by incredible live music– from talented and well-established London artists, DJ’s and their house band ‘Blue Riviera’.
There I was, sat on my blanket with a G&T in my hand living my best life! The music was of course the highlight of the day, with all of the musicians being incredibly talented. We were treated to a variety of line ups, from acoustic to full band to DJ sets playing originals and covers from all genres and eras for three whole hours! This may seem like a generous amount of time, but the event is so good that it leaves you wanting more! And with that being said, I will definitely be returning for the next one, and the next one, and the next one…
Tumblr media
So, if you love good times, great company and amazing live music, this is the event for you! It is BYO so bring your blanket, hamper filled with your favourite food and drink and of course your fabulous self and let Le French Picnic do the rest!
Follow Le French Picnic on Instagram for next date announcements.
Key info:
·      A classic picnic with a twist sets in a jaw dropping location.
·      Three hours of music and a lot of fun!
·      BYO blanket, food and drink
·      Two sessions; one in the afternoon and one in the evening. This event is limited to 30 people per session so make sure you get your tickets before they sell out

I moved to the South of France with my wife and then baby boy 6 years ago as we wanted a new adventure as well as a lot more sunshine than we were getting in London! I set up Wildfire DJs (or UK DJs Abroad as it was then) at the same time. The aim was to provide a premium DJ, sound and lighting service to couples coming from abroad, predominantly the UK, to marry here in France. People pay an awful lot for their wedding, especially in this region, and I think it's a crime for the day to end with a party that doesn't absolutely blow the roof off. We ensure that the wedding day of each of our clients is remembered as the best party that they and their guests have attended. We provide the speakers and lighting plus organise all the music from the ceremony to the last song of the night. We make the process not only simple but fun and enjoyable too.

15 best Islands in Europe
Deciding where to go during the summer holidays is often a dilemma. Give the old continent a chance and explore one of the beautiful islands in Europe. Enjoy tropical coastlines, cliffs, and picturesque villages. Here we leave you a selection of the 10 best islands to visit in Europe during the summer.
Weather Islands, Sweden
Sweden may not be the first country that comes to mind when you think of European islands. However, you should give it a try, you may be pleasantly surprised. Sweden has more than 220,000 islands, which include atolls and small islets.
Among so many options, the best of all is Weather Islands, an archipelago known in Sweden as Väderöarna. This set of beautiful islands is located at the westernmost point of the country. The place exhibits breathtaking beauty and endless tranquility. Many of the islands are uninhabited, therefore you can enjoy long nature walks, lazy days on the beach, and relaxing nights on the peaceful sandy atolls. Ferries leave on the mainland from Fjällbacka and from Hamburgsund, near Gothenburg.
Flores, Portugal
Flores is one of the islands of the western group of the Azores, Portugal. If you are a nature lover you will immediately fall in love with this island. It has deep valleys, high mountains, and the entire territory is covered with thousands of hydrangeas during the summer. Flores is accessed by air and ideal for boating, hiking, surfing, birds, and whales. Without a doubt, this is the place you need if you want to connect with nature enjoying secluded beaches and lush landscapes.
Andros, Greece
Tumblr media
Even the most famous Greek archipelago has some islands that are still unknown to many. Andros is part of the Cyclades and is a green paradise that is actually closer to the Attica Peninsula than its sister islands. Andros has crystal clear waters, fine sand and beautiful valleys, so it is an excellent option for hikers thanks to its extensive network of trails. In addition, it has very beautiful typical towns where there are many interesting places to visit. The truth is, Andros has nothing to envy to other more popular islands in Greece. This is one of the best-kept secrets.
Porquerolles island, France

You can book a room at the luxurious Hotel Le Mas du Langoustier or do what most people prefer, a round trip.
Elba, Italy
Tumblr media
Elba is an island known for being the place where Napoleon was sent into exile. This territory exhibits beaches of golden sand, crystal clear waters, lots of vegetation and cliffs. A highly recommended activity is to visit Tenuta La Chiusa, the oldest winery on the island, to taste delicious wine.

The Cíes Islands are a group of islands located off the coast of Pontevedra, in Galicia. The archipelago can be reached by ferry from Vigo. Also, this place is very famous among hikers and bird watchers. If you are looking for serene beaches, relaxation and abundant nature, then the Cíes Islands are your best option.
Sylt, Germany
Tumblr media
Among the islands of Germany, the best option is Sylt, the largest of the Frisian Islands. It is well known for its beaches, resorts, and laid-back lifestyle. Sylt is connected to the mainland by a carriageway that is used by trains from Hamburg. There are also flights available during the summer. You will be impressed with its virgin beaches and its picturesque towns.

Tell me who you are.. and I’ll get you the perfect yacht party destination in the Mediterranean Sea!
Let’s face it, we are not all the same. This truth is especially true when it comes to choosing our type of holiday. Whether because of age or because of different personalities, each of us is looking for something different from the other even when deciding how to spend a period away from work.
Hence our idea to recommend each of you the best party location and where to organize an exclusive yacht charter holiday in the Mediterranean Sea.
Looking for the best yacht party destination in the Mediterranean?
To do this, we first identified 3 large vacation categories that each of us can feel more or less attracted to, and then we assigned them some locations we identified based on our expectations.
We have chosen three kinds of holiday following 3 very common ways of being: those one looking for luxury, elegance, and refinement as a vacation first condition, those ones who are more eager to have fun and look for a way to stay up late at night and finally those ones who are more interested in discovering new places and possibly new culture.
Let’s start!
Exclusive charm lovers party with style aboard a yacht
You know, Style and elegance are a matter of birth and this is the case of the three places we are about to present you. Those who decide to moor their yacht here are certainly looking for an exclusive place to party with style.
Porto Cervo – Italy;
Marina di Porto Cervo, north-east from Sardinia island, is an Italian seaside resort and one of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean.
It is the most exclusive place on the entire Costa Smeralda and the Yacht Club that takes its name has always been frequented by the European jet-set. After the sunset, there is no shortage of dinners and parties, formal and otherwise, both onboard yachts and on land.
Port Hercules – Principality of Monaco;
We could not fail to include it in this special ranking as a destination of charm and luxury par excellence. Together with Saint Tropez, during the summer it becomes the queen of yacht locations on the French Riviera, especially during social events such as the Cannes festival or the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Related: VIPs and Yachts – A love story
When it comes to glamor, few places can match Port Hercules. The best place to moor if you are looking for social life and VIPs.
Saint Tropez – France;
We have already mentioned it as a glamorous location on the French Riviera.
The best way to enjoy this exclusive location is to moor in the most coveted port, Port De Saint-Tropez. Here you will be directly connected to the social life but also not far from the chic boutiques and bijou restaurants of this village.
Looking for fun? A yacht party in the best destinations of the Mediterranean is for you
When you are young and especially when you are with your friends on a yacht, joy, and fun cannot be lacking because, what is a vacation without fun? Those who choose one of the next three locations that we are about to talk to you won’t need to answer this question!
Mykonos – Greece;
The name of the island is enough to bring to mind a thousand stories told on the Greek island of pleasure and transgression.
During the summer it is full of tourists from all over the world and there is no shortage of parties on yachts or on the beach. Any advice? Pay attention to the Meltemi, a wind that blows strongly especially in the months of July and August and which can cause some annoyance even onboard a yacht.
Ibiza – Spain;
Probably Ibiza is the number one Mediterranean Sea summer destination.
Here the clubs abound and every evening you will be spoiled for choice. If you decide to moor in front of the most famous beach on the island, Playa d’en Bossa, do not miss the appointment with Ushuaia Beach Club, one of the most spectacular outdoor clubs in the world.
Related: Ibiza – The best 2021 party destination for a boat trip
Porto Montenegro – Montenegro;
Maybe we will surprise someone with our choice but we know that Montenegro is establishing itself more and more as a popular destination for parties and fun.
More and more world-famous DJs come to play in their discos such as the Platinum.
It is no coincidence that the marina of Porto Montenegro is known for being one of the best equipped in the Mediterranean Sea.
Getting lost between nature and culture in the top yacht party destinations in the Mediterranean
Who said that a yacht holiday is the only sea, beaches, and beautiful parties?
For all those who love the discovery and like visiting as well as celebrating, we offer you two destinations that combine the desire to party with the pleasure of being a tourist.
Hvar Town – Croatia;
The Dalmatian coast is rapidly becoming an increasingly popular destination in the Mediterranean Sea and the city of Hvar is increasingly its flagship.
The port of Hvar, one of the best anchorages in Croatia and of the Adriatic Sea is also the best starting point to discover the hundreds of coves and bays that make up this stretch of Croatia, discovering picturesque villages surrounded by green nature.
The city has plenty of party locations, both inside or on the beach. Two of the best-known clubs are the Carpe Diem and the Hula Hula, both located a short distance from the port.
Barcelona – Spain;
This city certainly needs no introduction. Thanks to its centuries-old history, artists who lived it, and the different architectures that make it up, Barcelona is a perfect destination for those looking for the right mix of culture and entertainment.
The capital of Catalonia also offers a vibrant nightlife, with a number of luxury clubs to choose from and yachts for charter to the Balearics.
OneOcean Port Vell is our choice about the docking place in Barcelona. It can accommodate superyachts up to 190 meters and is really close to the city center.

OUR FIVE FAVOURITE FRENCH RIVIERA BEACH CLUBS
If you’re visiting the French Riviera, you simply can’t leave without having experienced a long lunch at one of the many beach club restaurants along the coast. It is most definitely one of my all-time favourite things to do in summer.
There really is nothing quite like settling in for what you know will be hours, sitting in an absolutely breathtaking location, looking out at the ocean and the yachts, eating amazing seafood and sipping French wine…tell me, does it really get any better than that?
There are loads of beach clubs scattered right up and down the coast, but here I focussed only on the clubs that have a tender service for yachts at anchor. Also, given I doubt you want to read for hours, I had to whittle it down to my favourite five…(it was a tough call!).
 So, here goes…
 LA GUÉRITE, CANNES
La Guérite has been around for years, since 1935 to be exact, and it is definitely one of the coolest beach club restaurants on the French Riviera. It is set in an inlet on the island of Sainte-Marguerite, just off Cannes. After a long lunch here, you can easily see why the rich and famous have always flocked to this isolated gem of a restaurant.
It also happens to serve what I think is some of the best food in the area. Executive Chef Yiannis Kioroglou is Greek so the menu is heavily focussed on simple, delicious Mediterranean seafood. My favourite dishes include the open-cut grilled king prawns and the incredible lobster pasta; they are truly delicious and sum up everything that is good in this world!
Sundays are definitely a highlight, usually with a live band and a DJ later, but you can often find a live band on other days as well. If you’re after a quieter lunch I would suggest an earlier sitting but if you want a wilder vibe then things really kick off from 3pm.
Come here for: the amazing food, the secluded island setting, and some great people-watching and super-yacht-spotting.
ANJUNA BEACH, EZE
Anjuna Beach is an absolute institution on the Riviera, and you just can’t visit the area and not dine here! Entering Anjuna feels like you’ve somehow crossed seas and stepped into an island fishing village in the Indian Ocean…think aqua rescued wood, and white flowing dream-catchers.
Anjuna is known for its wild-fun, crazy parties where almost anything goes. It’s not uncommon to see an impeccably dressed 75 year old up dancing on the tables. If the party vibe is what you’re after then I suggest you come on a Saturday or Sunday. Be prepared to let a little loose and mingle with the eclectic crowd; once the band kicks off you’ll be up dancing and singing, sharing stories with strangers you’ll likely never meet again.
During the week Anjuna is back to a normal restaurant and beach club with the occasional troubadour band keeping things lively. The food here is simple and delicious Mediterranean fare. They offer a number of share dishes which are ideal amongst a group table…of note, you simply can’t not have the ribs…they’re incredible! They also have a really good selection of delicious entrees that are perfect to share around on a hot day when eating seems like too much work! The service here is top notch; they’re friendly and attentive and definitely on the ball.
Come here for: the incredible vibe, the eclectic mix of people (including a regular celeb or two),….and those ribs!
PALOMA BEACH RESTAURANT, SAINT-JEAN-CAP-FERRAT
Paloma Beach Restaurant is all about secluded serenity and incredible views. This place was designed for chilling, relaxing and soaking in the sounds and the sights. The setting for this hidden restaurant is down some steep steps, in a quiet little bay tucked around the super exclusive peninsular of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. The restaurant has been here since 1948 and is run by a group who have a collection of great dining spots around Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer.
The food here is focussed on seafood, with simple Mediterranean inspired dishes (are you noticing a trend here?). In my opinion they serve one of the best lobster spaghetti dishes on the Riviera, it is absolutely delicious…classic, without too much tomato sauce, and with a whole lobster tail perched on top.
Paloma loves families and bringing people together. It is a perfect location for a birthday celebration amongst friends or an anniversary or engagement occasion. When you sit looking out at the water and the beautiful houses tumbling down the hills of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and Beaulieu-sur-Mer, you really do feel like there is no place on earth you would rather be. In fact, I had this exact feeling three years ago, sitting in this very location, and then and there, I made up my mind to move to the South of France and never leave!
Come here for: the incredible serenity and beautiful views, late lunch sittings that run until 5pm, and to fall in love once-and-for-all with the South of France.
 EDEN PLAGE MALA, CAP D’AIL
Eden Plage Mala has been around for a while, but this year they have really changed their game and they now join my favourite list. As the name suggests, this beach club is a secluded little paradise, hidden deep down, surrounded by towering rocky cliffs in a little bay in Cap D’Ail. Here Eden has created a serene escape, complete with a carp pond, palm fronds, natural wood and tropical gardens.
In terms of food, Eden has tried to mix things up a little. There are some Italian favourites like fritto misto and burrata salad, mixed in with some Asian and Hawaiian influenced dishes like Thai salad and ceviche. They also have a really great selection of salad bowls from across the world. A brilliant thing about Eden is that they have a menu available for yachts at anchor; just order from the navette skipper and it is with you in 20 minutes.
If you’re after a relaxing day in a beach club then Eden is a perfect place. They have lovely big round day beds for groups, and offer massages in their spa area. Under new management, Sophie and her staff are very attentive and lovely, which all helps to make Eden a beautiful and relaxing place to dine or spend the day.
Come here for: cuisine with a difference, to escape from the rat race, or for a day on your yacht with food delivered on board.
PLAGE DE PASSABLE, SAINT-JEAN-CAP-FERRAT
I would have to say, that of all the beach clubs mentioned here, I think Passable has the best view. Some may disagree, but to me, the crystal clear water and the view over to the old town of Villefranche-sur-Mer, awash with masses of bougainvillea, is second to none.
This beach club is a great all-rounder. They have a large restaurant with lots of seating and a large number of day loungers in the beach club. The beauty of this is that you can usually get a table at the last minute. The vibe here is no fuss; it is a simple delicious meal, in a beautiful setting and at a reasonable price.
The food at Passable is once again quite Mediterranean in style, but with an Italian bent. They serve delicious whole fish of the day, done very simply in the Italian style and also do a lovely spaghetti vongole. And for those of you with children, you will be pleased to know that they serve pizza.
The biggest draw card for Passable is that it is situated in one of the best bays to anchor for yachts; the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer. Their navette service is super-fast, aided by the very lovely Jean-Michelle, and once you’re anchored here, there really is no need to visit any other bays.
Come here for: the breathtaking views, a simple, no-fuss lunch, and the perfect anchorage if you’re on a yacht.

** Just a side note, you’ll notice I haven’t covered Saint Tropez here, that is because there is so much change going on with the beach clubs there that I don’t know it well enough this season.
