Would Tael ever give Emil the chance to attempt to run? (Even if it was rigged so he'd be caught no matter what?)

Emil’s head was spinning as Tael guided him through a portal, the blindfold around his eyes prevented him from looking around to try to ground himself.

Tael hums as he closes the portal behind them and works on untying Emil’s wrists. “What’s wrong Emil? Cat got your tongue?” He humored, wondering why the vampire was so quiet.

Hearing a small whimper from him caused the demon to look up just in time to see him slightly open his mouth, causing blood to start to dribble out before he closed his mouth again.

Tael laughed “Oh that’s right! I took your tongue!” He says, almost as if he had genuinely forgotten. “Well, that just means I’ll know what you’re about to do will likely be by yourself and not because you caught someone’s attention by screaming for help.”

He takes the blind fold off.

Emil blinks a few times as he looks around.

Around him were woods as far as he could see, with the exception of a shack-like cabin directly behind the both of them.

He looks at the demon beside him, clearly confused.

Tael smiled “I’m giving you a chance here. There’s miles of woods all around and there’s a road that runs through it at some point. I’m going to let you run, and if you can make it to the road there’s a chance someone might come across you. If you succeed, I’ll let you go.”

The vampire lets out a whine, in a weak attempt to voice a concern.

“Oh I know.” The demon says, already knowing what the other was worried about. “I’m going to give you a thirty second head start. Fifteen because you’re injured, and another fifteen because I am faster than you.” He explained before digging his phone out of his pocket to set a timer.

Emil was conflicted as he looked up at the sky, trying to gauge what time it was but the heavy cloud cover made it impossible to see where the moon was. Was Tael really going to hold true to his word? Did he even have a chance? The blood in his mouth and the blood soaking into the back of his shirt wasn’t reassuring.

With a lash from the demon’s tail striking against the back of one of his legs, he’s snapped out of his thoughts.

“Start running.” Tael ordered, holding up his phone to reveal that Emil had already wasted 3 seconds by getting lost in his worries.

The vampire didn’t think, he just ran off into the woods in a random direction. He didn’t have the time to waste by thinking any more.

He made sure to keep his mouth shut, he didn’t want to leave an obvious blood trail for Tael to follow. He could breathe through his nose, worst case scenario he could last a while without air.

The small pains of branches hitting him and thorns catching and tearing his clothes and the skin underneath were nothing in comparison to what he’ll probably feel if he fails at this.

He also hoped that he wasn’t just running in circles as the world was spinning and twisting around him.

By the time Emil was stumbling and unable to keep moving, he failed to find the road that Tael had mentioned.

He resorted to tucking himself into a bramble bush, hoping that Tael would think he wouldn’t be in it due to the thorns and tangled branches.

His heart was pounding in his chest, making him want to gasp for air. He decided to open his mouth to let the blood fall out since he wasn’t moving anymore and he was trying his best to not pass out right now.

He needed to keep his breathing calm and to make sure he could still properly listen.

It felt like he was sitting there for hours, but it really couldn’t have been longer than 15 minutes before he heard humming in the distance.

Emil freezes and his breath hitches in his throat. He brings his hands to cover his nose and mouth to muffle any sounds he might accidentally make.

Tael’s humming got closer as did the sound of leaves being crunched under his hooves.

Emil squeezed his eyes shut as it sounded like the demon was just a couple of feet away from his hiding spot.

Then they continued to walk away, not talking a moment to falter as if he was looking around.

Once the sound of humming and leaf crunching was further away, Emil let a sigh of relief out as he trembled. He remained in his spot as he needed to rest for longer.

The demon was just barely still in his hearing range when he spoke. “I’m starting to get bored, I think I need a hint.”

Emil’s eyes widened and before he could do anything, the recently carved symbol in his back lit up with sudden searing pain, forcing him to let out a scream before he could even stop himself.

The pain claws its way up his spine before a sudden crushing pain radiates all over his head, causing him to go to clutch at his head as if he was trying to feel for something that could be taken off.

Tears stream down his face as a teal color dotted around his vision.

“Ah, there you are.” Tael’s voice echoed in his head.

As quick as Tael’s voice came, it was gone. The crushing pain started to fade but the searing pain in his back remained, making it impossible for him to move even if he wanted to.

All he could do was wait as Tael’s humming and the crunching of leaves got closer.

Faust’s heart was racing as he stormed down the stairs to the second floor of the palace, rage bubbling up in his chest.

He had found Dor’s captive room missing the star of the room, Dor themself. Nothing looked chewed or broken so that meant Dor didn’t escape by themself.

And he already had a guess as to who it was that took them.

“HELIAGR!” He shouts at the bottom of the stairs, stomping his hooves as he was approaching one of his brother’s rooms.

Orange magic sparks from his horn.

He slams his fist against his older brother’s door.

“HELIAGR OPEN UP RIGHT NOW!” He could feel the strain against his vocal cords as he yelled.

The door opens, revealing a smug looking Helgi. “Hello Faust.” The fact that Faust wasn’t using his nickname was already giving him satisfaction.

“Where are they.” It wasn’t a question, it was a demand for information.

“Where’s who?”

Faust gritted his teeth. “Dor. Where’s Dor? I know you have them.”

Helgi hums and taps his chin as he thinks. “Nooo… I don’t think I do.”

The orange sparks start to connect with arcs of magic, similar to electricity. “Well who does?”

The older brother takes a step back to allow his younger brother to look inside the room, as he gestures over to one of his own captives. “Celes does.”

The younger unicorn looks into the room to see where his older brother was gesturing.

In the corner of the room, settled down in a pile of bean bags and blankets, a deer satyr was carefully and tenderly combing and braiding Dor’s hair. Dor seemed completely relaxed as they laid between her legs and had their arms wrapped around her waist.

However, even from the doorway Faust could see how distant Dor’s eyes were and how it looked completely unfocused and oblivious to it’s surroundings.

The sight of someone else touching and caring for his cherished, of it ‘allowing’ someone else to be so close to it and even holding onto her, and knowing that Dor was under his brother’s mind control completely enraged him.

His anger must’ve been clear on his face as Helgi snickers. “What’s wrong, Faust? Did mother never teach you that sharing is caring?”

“For aught I care, mother’s lessons can be damned.” Faust snarled as he looked at Helgi. “Release them, Heliagr.” His hands balled up into fists, nails digging into his palms.

It really was just far too enjoyable to see his brother being pushed to this point. He smiles and leans down to be eye to eye with him. “Make me.”

There’s a bright flash of orange as the younger unicorn also reels his arm back.

The next thing Helgi knew, his mind was completely blank and he could feel all the tension and stress leave his body. His magic on Dor dispels and he could do nothing as he can see Faust’s fist heading straight for his face.

When Faust’s fist hits his face, he stumbles back with a yell as it feels like all of his nerves are lit aflame.

Even if he wanted to, Helgi couldn’t keep himself standing, he couldn’t think about anything other than the pain scorching and seering every part of his body.

Faust looks down at his brother as pain was stinging his knuckles, his rage pauses briefly as confusion takes over as he sees orange magic wrapping around his brother as he has the same unfocused and distant eyes that Dor once had.

Then realization sets in along with hearing Helgi’s screams. He was using magic.

He quickly rushes over to Dor, who was still slowly regaining their sense of mind, as he dispels his magic. He didn’t have time to feel guilty right now, he needed to get his cherished back and back to their room.

He gives the bewildered Celes a glare as he takes Dor from her and helps them out of the room so he could start taking them back upstairs.

Faust leaves his brother on the floor, gasping for air and regaining his sense of mind.

Once Faust was gone, Celes gets up to go help Helgi up. “Lord Helgi?” She gently asks, knowing how jarring it can be to be coming down from mind control.

After a moment, Helgi lets out a breathy laugh. “I knew it… I knew that coward had it in him.”

With her help, he gets back up onto his hooves. “It’s a pitiful shame for such magic.. To be wasted on him.”

Air rushed into Whumpee’s lungs as the rope around his neck suddenly loosened, he doubled over and coughs as his lungs attempted to take in all the air they needed but were unable to take it all in at once.

As he catches his breath he can hear Kira’s muttering from behind him.

“Fuck, Monuri- Damnit-”

“What’s wrong? Don’t have the fucking guts to finish the job?” He spat.

“Shut up, shut the fuck up.” Their voice was shaking.

He turns to look at them, only to be surprised that they had backed themself into the corner of the room with tears streaming down their face.

A weak smile appears on his face as he starts to laugh. “Are you fucking kidding me?! You’re the one crying?! After you’ve already beat me and tried to strangle me?!”

“Great! That’s just great! That’s my fucking luck!” If his arms and legs weren’t bound he’d be getting into Kira’s face. “That I get kidnapped and stuck with someone so WEAK-”

“I SAID SHUT UP!” They yelled, bringing their hands to their head as tears continued to fall.

A ring of light spreads out on the floor away from the fairy, and as it makes contact with Whumpee his muscles start to rapidly tense and constrict.

A choked sound leaves his throat as he unwillingly falls over, unable to try to move to stop himself or to try to soften his landing.

“I TOLD YOU TO SHUT UP ALL I WANT IS SOME FUCKING QUIET!” Their voice cracks.

Then there’s silence. Except for Kira’s own heavy breathing.

Eventually their breathing slows down as they manage to calm down. They let go of their head to wipe their tears away before looking at Whumpee.

Who laid lifeless on the floor.

Kira sighs and goes to leave the cell, stepping over the corpse. “That’s what I was trying to avoid.” They mutter to no one but themself. “I’ll get rid of it later, I need a nap.”

They’re still sure to lock the cell door just in case he wasn’t actually dead, before going to the living room couch to take a nap.

After 2 months of having this idea I finally quickly drew it jdkfghjkdfghs

He'd look decently similar to an Afghan Hound in terms of fur! His upper canines are slightly longer than normal and always poke out of his lips, he's also careful to keep his nails short! :>

His glasses are held on by ear clips in case they slide!

Is the Winthrope family the only ones that have captives in their kingdom?

Nope! However, if someone in the kingdom wants to have a captive (legally) they have to get one of the Winthrope family members blessing!

To do so, one of the family members has to come and see the set up that the captive is planned to be kept in and the person who plans to keep one has to provide their reasoning for wanting a captive!

They don't even have to meet the desired captive!

The trick is, each family member has different standards! Now you're welcome to go to a different family member if you're denied by one, but if you're denied by 3, you have to wait 3 months before trying again! If you're approved, the family member will let the rest of their family know so there's no miscommunication/misunderstanding!

Savina is extremely lenient, as long as the set up for the captive is good and comfortable then she'll grant a blessing! Even if the reasoning is simply 'I want to.'

Faust provides blessings based off of the captive's safety! So the reasoning must be something along the lines of 'they'll be safer as a captive than they would be not being one' or 'they'll have a happier life being a captive', and the set up must match the reasoning! A lock on the door that the captive might have difficulty picking, restraints in case they're too unruly and might end up as a risk for their keeper or themself, first aid kits, blankets, pillows, etc etc. He has to deem it safe before he'll grant his blessing.

Sterling grants their blessings based off of how the captive will help the keeper! They don't require a good set up, but they do require the keeper to have magic that can slow or stop the captive, or restraints to prevent the captive from running.

Helgi will grant his blessing if the set up is comfortable and the captive has things to do when not doing what the keeper orders them to do. He also wants to know general plans of what the keeper wants the captive for. (Pet, maid, romantic, safety, general company, etc etc).

Rene is usually too busy to grant blessings and will usually send people to one of his kids or his wife!

The younger Winthropes can also provide blessings I just haven't developed them past: The youngest has a wish to grow up to be taller than Helgi, and all 4 of them won't have captives during their lives.

However ofc after a blessing is granted, it can be taken back if too many people complain about someone's captive, within reason. (i.e. captive's screams are being disruptive to neighbors) When a blessing is taken back, the captive will be freed and granted temporary protection. (like 3 weeks.)

How would past Kira treat present Emil if he ended up in their hands?

CW for Mouth whump, Fang and skin removal

Kira would look at Emil with such fascination. They had heard about vampires but barely knew anything about them.

They would have so many questions and then promptly used the answers against him.

'What's a vampire's biggest weakness?' 'Sunlight and silver.' Cue them binding Emil's wrists and ankles with silver wire and putting him into the sunlight for a bit.

Kira would feed him their own blood in cups, at which point they would learn that Emil's fangs extend.

They would become curious just how long his fangs were, resulting in them pulling out his fangs. They would learn his top and bottom fangs were different length, with the top ones being longer. But the fangs on the right side of the mouth were the same length as the ones on the left side. (i.e. both top fangs were the same length when compared to each other.)

Followed by them temporarily filling the now empty bottom gaps with silver, curious if the burns would be bad enough to prevent the fangs from growing back. (The fangs did grow back after the silver burns healed.)

After that they would figure out that all of their tests so far hasn't resulted in Emil getting any scars, so they would make each test worse and worse to try to find out what it would take to scar the vampire.

They wouldn't tend to any of his wounds as they'd think doing so would lessen the chance of scarring.

Imagine their surprise when they found out that cutting and peeling Emil's skin off to remove his tattoos from Tael didn't even scar.

Can Runa and Emil scar in the Shelter Pet AU?

Yep yep!!!!!

Runa has a lot of scars mainly on his back and arms, as when he was being punished by Irene, he would curl into a ball to try to protect himself! He does still have some scars on the front of his body and legs though!

Emil has a lot of heavy scarring on the back of her neck, 2 dots on the side of her neck from overuse of a shock collar, and then various bite and claw scars from hunts! She also has a scar on one of her legs from a bear trap, various small scars from thorns she's run into while tracking/hunting, and then also scars from riding crop whips! Also maybe one or two bullet scars :3

Pet Runa! What was your master before Bebê like?

Runa looks around, as if to make sure his ex-master wasn't around to hear, before speaking. "Cruel with unreachable expectations for me."

He fidgets with the soft faux fur of the rug. "She hurt me a lot, if I didn't do what she wanted around others. Or if we weren't going to be at parties or events, she would make me sick a lot with meat."

"She did let me curl up during my punishments, at least." Despite being so scared of his ex-master he still felt an urge to try to find something that was decent about her.

His eyes avoided a mirror in the room, so he wouldn't have to look at the scars littering his back and arms. "She was bad enough that I had to be removed from her ownership.."

You get the sense Runa doesn't want to talk more about his ex-owner, as he's trying to not end up pulling fibers out of the rug.

Tael doesn't answer immediately, he takes a moment to get up from his spot to go to the kitchen to grab a large serrated knife.

"I partially decapitated him using this knife just to see what would happen. After a day I noticed him blinking but he didn't respond to anything. He didn't flinch or squeeze his eyes shut whenever I touched him, he didn't look around, and his pupils didn't react when I shined a light in them. He just blinked."

He puts the knife back in the knife block it was stored in.

"I thought he was bluffing. So I grabbed a needle and put it near his eye. I saw no reaction so I decided to wait a bit longer. Three hours later I noticed him actually looking around but not turning his head. So I tried the needle again and asked him if he could move his head. He moved his eyes side to side, and I was curious if he could make any noise so I stuck the needle into his eye. Disappointingly, he didn't make any noise in the moment."

"I left it there and honestly forgot about it until I heard him crying around.... Six hours later, I believe it was?" He says, sounding uncertain before he shrugs.

"I just found it unsettling how non-reactive he was at first. It was creepy considering he wasn't blood deprived and he's usually pretty reactive to any pain or threat of pain."

what would've happened if Emil *did* fit Monika's standards?

(Context: Monika is from this non-canon prompt game prompted writing)

Honestly, if it weren't for the tattoos he would've fit Monika's standards!!!! She'd be put off by the scar over his heart but since it was only one she'd tolerate it!

Monika is a carewhumper! When it comes to hurting Emil she would do so herself only by harshly grabbing his face, scratching him, yanking his hair, and biting him! (Only biting bc the marks left behind causes embarrassment <3)

But it's not past her to order her servants to hurt him for her in other ways more painful ways!

She'd also treat him a lot like a dog! Going as far as to use dog shampoo when bathing him, feeding him table scraps that are dog safe (so no grapes, chocolate, coffee, etc) when he's not feeding from her, and making him walk on all fours when it's only him and her! If he got ill, she'd take him to an actual vet instead of a doctor!

She'd also have him feed from herself and also raw animal meat (bc she'd feed him at least 3 times a day and she can't sustain him with only her blood for all of that) to try to make him dependent on her!

As seen in the prompted writing, she's very handsy and so would do things that would get her in more physical contact with Emil! (so when taking his shirt off like in the writing, instead of going from the front like normal she's unbutton it from behind so her hands, arms, and chest are in contact with him!)

She'd also love to show him off because she got him to show off just how rich she is!

And much to her delight and Emil's absolute horror, she'd find out there are (illegal) pet shows for humanoid pets!! So Emil better get used to all eyes being on him bc Monika has ALWAYS wanted a show pet!

She wouldn't at all view Emil as a human and would actually probably get upset if he actually spoke! Meaning Emil would get the mantra of 'Pets don't talk.' going in his head!

Emil would be miserable! At least when he was with Tael, he was viewed as less than human but still viewed as *some* kind of humanoid! He was still allowed to talk and mainly walk normally! Sure he was shown off sometimes but he wouldn't need to be prepared to be shown off and he wasn't shown off to a large audience!

The only good sides he'd be able to see to this is, at least Monika herself isn't severely hurting him (bc he would get severely hurt at the pet shows) and he's getting fed at least 3 times a day and sometimes more!

He is! Helgi is also currently the only vampiric unicorn in the world of Insidium and the first unicorn to be turned into a vampire ever!

Are there ways people could possibly canonically whump your characters?

Yes, absolutely! I always try to make space for it as I know personally I love interacting with others whump characters (canonically or non canonically) and I want to provide that opportunity as well! I also have it set up like this to better encourage my own brain to do more whumping as it means I don't have to strictly stay to one specific whumper!

So here's a few ways with different characters!

Mylien (Pre Valen) - He's a cervitaur that lives in Misty Framingher Grove, he often travels outside of the core to explore or to gather ingredients or other things he's requested to get has he has a good direction around the ever twisting and changing forest. He's aware that there are threats such as feral taurs, cruel people in general, and hunters (both sound of mind or undead and magically controlled). Despite this, he easily gets lost in his own head while wondering around. Making him a seemingly easy target.

Archeros - He's widely hated by a lot of people and is indebted to 5 different mobs currently thanks to his dad, Azradel, possessing him and screwing his life over while also making sure there's no trace of Archeros's name in any books or writings that may portray him in a positive light! (exceptions to that are any writings with Archeros's found family as Lixue's magic prevents Azradel's magic from erasing signs of Archeros's existence that they've made.) So literally anyone or anyone who wants to be a mobster could go after him!

Thei - He's the king's partner and second in command! Despite being praised in the Kingdom of Gold, not everyone likes royalty and some people want to go out of their way to hurt King Alistair. Maybe the best way to do that is to hurt Thei instead :3c

Runa - Bebê does torture live streams with Runa where if people donate enough money, they'll fulfill their torture or comfort requests! It's even possible to whump Runa after he's free as his story went viral partially thanks to Maci making a true crime video on him and interviewing him! Those livestreams were dug up, and those pictures Bebê posted early in his captivity with his face bloodied resurfaced!

It's nearly impossible for him to go out in public (even in the ocean around sirens and the rare merfolk) without being recognized.

There's also the model au of Runa where him and Bebê often go out for meet and greets and people can pay to have some alone time to torture or comfort Runa! (there is also another option but that isn't safe to go on this specific blog)

Emil - Tael has a lot of friends that he has come and visit Emil to remind him that he could have it worse, but he also could have it better. It's to remind him that people are unpredictable and so he's lucky to be stuck with him as at least he's mostly predictable. But if Tael is feeling awfully cruel, he'll just drop Emil off with one of his friends and let them go off on him as long as they don't kill him!

Kira - Kira spent a year and a half with Collectors who were allowed to be cruel to them under 2 circumstances. 1) Don't damage their wings and 2) Don't kill them. They had grown used to having their hair cut and their blood drawn, ironic how a vampire is a blood bag itself, huh? Any new collectors will be warned to not mistake their passiveness for them being tame!

Camille / Angel - [Note that it doesn't yet have any content, so here’s it’s picrew (hunbloom) ] After falling from heaven, Angel willingly became a pet in search of finding someone to look up to for directions and control and to admire.

Before it ends up with Bebê, Angel was moved from owner to owner often being found to be too clingy and too happy to serve that it was somewhat unsettling to some.

One owner went as far as to turn it into a gargoyle so it couldn’t move or talk but it could still watch over and protect the house. The past owner even broken pieces of it off, like it’s mouth, just to ensure it’s silence.

Angel regained it’s form, now with grey skin with patches where the once broken and missing pieces of stone were, when it was sold to it’s next owner. Who knows how many more owners it was passed along to before ending up with Bebê, though it has all the time in the world as it is immortal.

~Non whumpee specific~

Cade - Cade gets trapped by werewolf hunters every now and then, while not in the current time in the general story the werewolf hunter tag is used when people wish to torment Cade while he has to wait to be picked up by his teammates. (Who may or may not have been delayed purposefully by other werewolf hunters keeping them busy.) Two rules. Don't kill the werewolf, and don't maim the werewolf. Feel free to use the healing potions to help heal him faster, but do be aware it can't regrow full limbs. (It can regrow teeth, ears, fingers, etc though :3c)

Odrin - Odrin is a dragon that does hero work! While the main villain he fights against is Bebê, his hero duties and villain fighting is able to be split up among other villains. After all, what hero hasn't been kidnapped a few times?

Florance - A manticore who runs his own clinic and who's wife is a mob boss! He's unaware of what her job is and he's gotten in trouble a few times due to his own absentmindedness, it's surprisingly difficult to get it into his skull when he's being held for ransom or if he's only being captured to just be beaten up.

Valen - A snow leopard felitaur who seems to be a rumor among sound of mind hunters that have managed to survive and return from Misty Framingher Grove. A felitaur with such bright eyes and wonderful looking fur, not to mention how his scars make it seem as if the skin under the fur was one half pink and one half green, he'd certainly be quite the trophy if anyone could manage to down him. It'd be much more impressive if they could catch him alive as it's said that he seems to have a sort of resistance to tranquilizers.

So if Azradel is the glass demon, do all demons have a certain title?

Nope!

While there are some that do (like Azradel as listed and Zolmoth the Malware Demon), there are 100% some that aren't! Lixue doesn't have any special title!

He could be called an ice demon but he's not *the* ice demon! Tael also doesn't have a special title! :>

The same applies for Devils! Azen and Seth don't have specific titles other than what kind of hell they control, (i.e. Seth is a guilt devil.) but there are some that do! Like Kural the Sinful Guilt Devil! :>

CW for self harm, plant magic used to whump

Despite having a broken nose and their back burning due to fresh open gashes, Whumpee stares at the fairy.

Kira punches the concrete wall as it yells, tears streaming down it's face. "FUCKING DAMN IT!" It punches the wall over and over and over until blood was running from it's knuckles. "STOP IT, FUCKING STOP!"

Whumpee looks around, they weren't doing anything. Was it yelling at itself? "Hey, are you alright?"

Kira whips around, glaring at them. "What?"

"Are you alright?" They repeat themself. "Is this some kind of really unhealthy coping mechanism?" If their hands were free, they'd gesture to their own broken nose.

Magic crackles around it's injured hand "What does it matter to you? What are you? A fucking therapist?" The question was rhetorical.

"I used to be, yes. Do you want to talk this out-"

Whumpee was cut off by the fairy walking over to them and grabbing their throat. "No. I don't want to talk about anything, especially not to you." It snarled, the magic around it's hand turning green and shifting into thorny branches that started to wrap around whumpee's throat.

"If you know what's good for you, shut the fuck up and stay quiet." It warned before throwing them onto the ground, leaving the thorn branches grown around their neck. "If you don't I'll have those start around your vocal cords next time."
