Cannot stop thinking about the parallels betweeen D20 Neverafter and Across the Spiderverse. The defiance of the required suffering called for by cannon, punished by a larger power (the author?) breaking the universe in turn, the pain of individual vs the support of the group, the doom and twisting of the same story happening over and over again thousands of times, each a bit different. Those with considerable power but still trapped by the world committing harder to the forcing of cannon and erradication of non-cannon events.

I cannot under play how lucky the Intrepid Heroes got this week. They're level 5 in a world established as having the odds stacked heavily against them. If they had to fight the Mer-King and the Dogfish at the same time, it would have been a TPK. If Lou hadn't rolled a nat 20 history check on the Dogfish, it would have been a TPK. My mind is reeling. I was SO SURE that we were getting TPK Part 2 Electric Boogaloo this episode but our Intrepid Heroes got luckier than I can remember in recent history.
