Butterfly Into Chains, Chapter 24
‘No fucking way!’ David snarled at Tom, squaring up to him.
‘It’s time.’ Tom barked back at him.
‘It’s only been three weeks! She needs longer to process her loss.’ David argued.
‘It’s been long enough!’ Tom spat. ‘Now back off.’
David was fuming, but he backed down. He knew starting a fight with Tom wasn’t a good idea. Even if he didn’t agree with what he was going to do.
The other three just stood there, awkwardly watching. Not wanting to get involved. Michael thought it was a bit too soon as well, but he wouldn’t dare speak out of term.
‘She’s getting the injection today and that is final.’ Tom said. ‘I’m taking her out for ice cream first. Alone.’ He glared at David, who just huffed in anger.
Esme could sense the tension in the air before Tom took her out. She was happy to get out for a bit. Though she had been slightly disappointed that David wasn’t coming with them. She found most comfort with him.
‘Can we go grocery shopping too, I was hoping I could maybe bake a cake for everyone?’ Esme asked quietly once they got their ice cream and headed for a walk along the beach.
‘Of course. That would be delightful.’ Tom smiled and put his arm around her, making her smile.
After heading back to the car and driving to the local store, Tom had to put her lead on. She hated that part, but he had told her it was necessary in busier places. If she hadn’t been craving a cake so much, she would’ve never mentioned about it.
Tom always praised her when he put on her lead. It did make her feel fuzzy and warm inside, no matter how much she hated it. Though she had gotten used to the collar, she felt naked without it when she took a shower or a bath.
Tom was on the lookout while they went shopping, making sure they didn’t come across any babies. Since her outburst a few weeks ago, the Alphas were hyper alert when out. Making sure to try and avoid another situation like that again.
Whilst she was happier again, she felt like she would never truly get over having her baby taken away from her. And she knew there would be a deep part of her that would always hate her Alphas for doing that to her...
When Tom returned home with Esme, David embraced her tightly. When she told everyone she was going to bake a cake, they were all excited and looking forward to a nice treat.
Ben and Chris hovered over her in the kitchen while she baked. Stealing some mixture now and then with their fingers and helping but really just hindering her. But they made her laugh.
Tom was leaning in the doorway with his arms crossed over his chest, watching. David walked in and stopped by Tom.
‘Please don’t do it today.’ He said quietly so only Tom would hear. ‘She’s having a good day, is happy. At least wait until tomorrow.’
Tom sighed and his jaw clenched. He then turned his hard gaze at David, if Esme hadn’t been within earshot he would’ve given him a right telling off for once again trying to undermine his leadership.
‘It’s happening today.’ He said quietly but still managed to sound firmly in charge before turning on his heels and leaving the room.
David tried not to show his worry or annoyance while Esme was enjoying herself. The cake she baked was delicious, and it was gone within the hour once they all started on it. Michael and Chris fought over the last slice, but then Ben swooped in and stole it before either of them had a chance to. He shared it with Esme though, making her laugh.
But the happiness and laughter didn’t last for long.
Tom disappeared momentarily and when he returned, he had the fertile drugs and needle. Esme’s blood ran cold when she laid eyes upon it.
‘Wh… What are you doing?’ She asked shakily, standing up from her chair.
‘It’s the fertility drug again, love. Just like before, it will give you a boost. You still won’t come into heat yet without it, not for another year or so.’ Tom said calmly.
‘But I… I’ve had a baby already… Please, not again.’ She whined and started backing away.
‘You’ve had one, yes… But there are many other couples out there that can’t have babies of their own.’ Tom said softly, taking slow steps towards her while she kept backing up until she couldn’t go further. ‘But you are young, fertile. We can help them.’
Esme shook her head. ‘I can’t… Not again. I can’t.’ She started getting panicky, breathing rapidly and tears started falling.
‘It’s for the best, Esme.’ Tom said firmly as he moved in closer and reached out towards her.
‘NO!’ Esme snapped and smacked his hand away. She then barrelled past him, putting all her might in to shove him out of the way. Surprising him with her outburst of strength.
‘Esme!’ Tom growled.
Everything inside of her was screaming at her to obey her Alpha. But another part of her felt the pain from her baby being taken away. The thought of that happening again, was going against everything she was.
Chris moved in and tried to grab her. She lashed out at him and scratched his cheek. But by that time Michael and Ben jumped into action as well and they managed to grab hold of her. She thrashed around screaming and crying.
‘NO! DON’T DO THIS! PLEASE DON’T!’ She screamed.
Tom calmly put down the needle and walked over to her. ‘Attacking your Alphas is not on, Esme.’ He was calm but firm with his tone.
Esme felt bad, but she was still adamant she wasn’t going to let him inject her again.
‘Bend her over the sofa.’ Tom commanded as he started rolling his sleeves up his forearms.
She started struggling and shouting anew. But Michael and Ben were too strong and soon had her bent over.
‘NO! DON’T YOU DARE! PLEASE, DON’T!’
Tom said nothing, he made sure they had a hold of her as he flipped her dress up and tore her knickers off roughly, making her cry and scream more as she continued to beg them to stop.
But then his hand made contact with her ass in the first hard slap.
And it became too much for David. Her cries of pain and distress, not just physically but emotionally too, he just couldn’t handle it.
He launched at Tom and hauled him away from Esme. She looked around over her shoulder, shocked and scared when she saw David punch Tom.
‘STOP THIS!’ David roared.
But Tom landed a punch back at him, right on the face and knocked him to the side. Tom saw Esme’s fear at their fighting. He looked to Chris.
‘Finish the job.’ He demanded. ‘I will sort David.’
David scrambled straight up and tried to attack back, but Tom was too swift and kneed him in the stomach.
Chris looked shell shocked at being told to spank Esme.
‘Tom… mate I’ he started but was cut off by Tom.
‘DO IT!’ Tom roared at him.
Chris swallowed hard and nodded. He wasn’t going to disobey him, especially not right now. So, he took over and started spanking Esme. She cried with every one, but she did notice his swing wasn’t as bad, and hard, as Tom’s was… But it was still awful.
Tom grabbed David and hauled him through the house. David managed to kick Tom’s shin and then was able to get Tom in a tight headlock.
‘THIS IS WRONG, TOM. STOP THIS. SHE IS HURT AND TERRIFIED.’ David tried reasoning with him.
But Tom was able to pull his arm away from his neck and managed to twist around and get David’s arm round behind his back. He shoved him against the wall.
‘Enough disobeying me. You know where the door is if you do not like my rules.’ He snarled angrily before letting him go.
David didn’t retaliate. Tom glared at him and stormed back to the living room. Chris had just finished spanking Esme, she couldn’t stop crying and her ass was bright red and felt like it was on fire. As soon as Ben and Michael released her, she got up and bolted for the front door.
Ben was about to go after her, but Tom put his arm out to stop him. ‘Leave her for now. Let things calm down in here first. Besides, she can’t get anywhere outside.’
‘It’s raining, she will get cold and wet.’ Michael whined.
‘She will come back in on her own then, she will learn.’ Tom growled.
‘Maybe this has been too much too soon for her.’ Ben said quietly.
‘You know where the door is if you’re not happy.’ Tom snapped. ‘We all knew what we were doing when we sought her out. You all knew this would happen.’ Tom shook his head and stormed off.
Ben, Michael and Chris all sheepishly looked at one another, nervous about what was happening. It was all getting out of hand.
Esme ran outside and straight for the large gate, but it was locked and she didn’t have the key fob to open it. It was pouring rain, but she wasn’t going back inside. No way. She ran around the wall border to the large tree near the back of the house, there she curled herself up tightly into a ball at the base of it and cried.
The tree gave her some shelter from the rain, but not all of it. She started shivering as it was so cold, the wind was starting to pick up too. She wanted the warm embrace of her Alphas. Especially David. But she couldn’t go back inside.
She just couldn’t.
-
Tom wouldn’t let any of the Alphas go out and get Esme until half an hour had passed. Then he went out himself to get her.
When he crossed the garden towards her, she spotted him and tried to scramble up to her feet to run away.
‘Don’t even think about it, lovely.’ Tom said as he quickly reached her with his long legs and scooped her up into his arms. She was too cold to fight him too much, a few pushes at his chest was all she mustered.
But then she just gave up and hid her face into the crook of his neck while he carried her inside.
‘You silly girl. Disobeying your Alpha and running outside, any longer and you’d catch a cold.’ He scolded as he took her to the bedroom.
Michael and Ben were sitting on the bed. Chris was stood at the side and David was stood at the far side, looking concerned and with a black eye that made Esme’s heart hurt.
Tom placed her down on the bed, Michael wrapped the blanket around her to heat her up.
‘Now be a good girl and give me your arm.’ Tom said, holding his hand out towards her.
She noticed he had picked up the needle. She knew there was no other option for her, she would either get further spankings… or worse. If there was worse. There was no way out of this.
Saying nothing, she put her hand into his and allowed him to straighten her arm out. Tears silently fell down her cheeks while Tom injected her, breaking David’s heart. He knew Tom had well and truly broken her now. Her spirit was gone.
After the injection, Ben and Michael tucked her up snugly in bed between them to comfort her and warm her up.
David said nothing as he left the room. Chris went after him and Tom soon followed.
‘You’re staying then?’ Tom asked, his tone clipped. Chris looked uncomfortable.
David glared at Tom. ‘I’m staying for Esme.’

KaiJou Week - Day 6: Birthday
Joey grinned as he gazed down at the date circled on his planner. Kaiba's birthday was today, and he'd made arrangements to leave work early and go celebrate. Not that Kaiba had wanted to celebrate. When Joey had brought up the idea, he'd immediately denied it. Kaiba didn't do parties or celebrations unless they were company obligations.
"Let's at least get dinner," Joey had bargained. "We'll just pretend it's the same as any other night."
"I don't want a party, Joseph."
"It won't be a party. Just you and me havin' dinner."
To which Kaiba had relented and agreed. Joey figured he'd simply decided to go with the path of least resistance. He didn’t really care. As long as they got to spend time together, Joey would be happy.
When it hit lunch time, he packed up and hurried home, leaving detailed notes for the substitute teacher about what to do with his class for the rest of the day. He was much earlier than he needed to be, but he wanted to be dressed and ready and looking his best for Kaiba as soon as he got home so they could head out immediately. He showered and shaved, picking out Kaiba's favorite cologne and spritzing some on his neck. He styled his hair and painstakingly selected his outfit. He settled on a silvery-gray suit with a white button-down and aubergine tie.
He checked his reflection in the mirror, nodding in satisfaction. He looked good. Now, all he had to do was wait for Kaiba to get home, and they’d be off.
The only trouble was that Kaiba was later than the time they’d agreed on. 4 p.m. became 5 p.m., and as 6 approached, Joey wondered if Kaiba had forgotten. No. Kaiba definitely didn’t forget these things. His memory was flawless. More than likely, something had come up at work that prevented him from leaving. Joey sighed and pulled on his coat, slipping his phone out of his pocket as he lingered in the foyer while calling Kaiba.
The phone rang until it went to voicemail. A second call had the same result. Damn. Joey tried to not feel defeated, but the bitter, burning sensation churned at the back of his throat, trying to coax him to tears. He wouldn’t cry. He’d been looking forward to this, and he was disappointed, but he wouldn’t cry. Instead, he grabbed his keys and resolutely marched to his car. If Kaiba was caught up at work, Joey would go free him from it.
-
No one at the front desk bothered to stop him as he stomped through the lobby of the KaibaCorp building. They all recognized him. Some of them even said hi, but he was too focused on reaching Kaiba that he hardly noticed, and their friendly expressions withered when they noticed the hard set of his jaw. He was in the elevator, heading to the executive level, arms crossed and scowl on his face. He was more angry than upset now. He’d taken half the day off for this, and Kaiba was ruining it, dammit.
He found Roland standing outside Kaiba’s office, looking frazzled. “Ah… Master Joey.”
“Where’s Kaiba?” he asked, being far more rude to the suit than he ever was.
Roland look taken aback but quickly recovered. “He’s in a meeting with the CIO. Our main database has been hacked, it seems, and while there is a plan in place for such things, they’re reviewing what’s been compromised.”
Joey’s bluster caught in his throat. “Oh…” he trailed off. “That… that isn’t good.”
Roland shook his head. “I’m sure he’s sorry. He was looking forward to your date tonight.”
“He tell you that?”
Roland shook his head. “No, but I can tell. He was in a good mood and mentioned wanting to leave early today.”
“‘Cept that didn’t end up happenin’.”
“Unfortunately,” Roland agreed, shaking his head.
“I guess… I’ll just go home then,” Joey said sadly. “Stickin’ around here won’t do me any good.”
“I’ll tell him you stopped in when he’s finished.”
“Thanks,” Joey said, turning away to head back downstairs. Once he got in the elevator, he pressed the button for the ground floor, handing his head in defeat and scratching at the back of his neck. Why did shit like this always have to happen? Joey knew KaibaCorp was the first priority. He’d always known that, but it just really hurt when Kaiba’s obligation to his company ruined their plans and their time together.
He was nearly to his car when his phone rang. A blurry picture of Seto, the best he’d been able to manage without getting caught, filled the screen. For a second, he considered declining the call and letting Kaiba worry about him for a change. He didn’t though. He didn’t want to hurt Kaiba, least of all on his birthday. Especially on a day where Kaiba had probably been through enough already.
“Hey,” Joey greeted, resigned.
“I’m sorry I’m late,” Kaiba apologized immediately. “This afternoon turned into a fucking nightmare.”
“It’s okay. Roland kinda told me what was goin’ on.”
Kaiba hummed in acknowledgement. “Incompetence through and through,” Kaiba grumbled.
“You gonna be free any time soon?” Joey asked, playing with his key fob as he stood beside his car.
“If you give me fifteen minutes, I’ll be down. These fucking idiots can wait until tomorrow. They’ve already pushed back my schedule so they can wait for me for one fucking day.”
Joey flinched at his tone. Kaiba was angry, though it wasn’t unjustifiable. “Sorry it's been a shit day, Seto,” Joey breathed into the phone. But a small happiness flickered inside of him. Kaiba might be angry, but he was angry because he’d been kept apart from Joey.
Kaiba didn’t acknowledge his apology, instead stating, “I need to talk to Mokuba, and then I’ll be down. Bring your car around. I’ll meet you up front.”
It took twenty minutes for Kaiba to finally walk out of the entrance of KaibaCorp, and he flung open the back door, unceremoniously dropped his briefcase and coat in the back seat, and then clambered into the front seat, slamming the front door closed.
“Go,” he said, eyes fixed on the road ahead of them.
Wordlessly, Joey did as instructed, stealing cautious glances at Kaiba in the light cast by the street lamps. “I know ya probably can’t tell me anythin’ about what’s goin’ on, and that’s fine. But let me know if ya need anythin’, alright?”
Kaiba closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. “I need to forget about it, at the moment.”
“Then that’s what we’ll do,” Joey assured. “We’re late, but I’m pretty sure we can still get a table at Laurent’s. Since it’s you, ya know?”
“You didn’t make a reservation?”
“I did,” Joey said. “We’re just way later than I made it for.”
Kaiba looked at the time on the car dash display and scowled. “They wasted my whole fucking evening,” he seethed.
“Not the whole evenin’,” Joey said. “Ya still get to have dinner with me. And I bought tiramisu to have at home when we get back, too.” Reaching out and taking Kaiba’s hand, he gave it a reassuring squeeze. “You get to see me, right? That’s what ya wanted most, isn’t it?”
Kaiba sighed, threading his fingers through Joey’s. “I didn’t want anything else.”
“Next year your birthday is a Sunday, so we’ll spend the whole day together just the two of us. Screw any work emergencies,” Joey said.
“Your next birthday is a Saturday,” Kaiba returned.
“It is, isn’t it?” Joey mused. “Maybe we can do something then, too? Nothing too big ‘cuz I’ve got school. But maybe like a trip around Christmas break or somethin’?”
“This mess should be calmed down by then,” Kaiba agreed. “I’ll make arrangements.”
“Cool,” Joey said with a grin.
Kaiba gave him a lopsided, tired smile. The day had certainly worn out the brunet, and Joey couldn’t say he found it surprising. But being able to make a worn out, tired, and grumpy Seto Kaiba smile, taking away some of his neverending stress, that was the best gift Joey could give him. And he’d give it over and over again so long as Kaiba kept smiling for him, holding his hand, and snuggling close in bed while confiding in him. The long nights and deep conversations and all the good stuff in their relationship that made it worth dealing with the bad. That’s what Joey wanted to give Kaiba. As much as good and happiness as he could.
As dinner came and went, Kaiba’s tension visibly lifted, and Joey delighted in knowing that he was the reason for it. Kaiba held his hand, stroking his thumb along the backside. When they got home, the tiramisu was forgotten in favor of heading to bed, a nice romp in the sheets topping off the night instead. And Joey hoped Kaiba had enjoyed it as much as he had. From the way Kaiba settled into a deep, peaceful slumber, Joey figured he had.

Arriving in London || Ridley & Ben || Flashback
Who: @mr-ridleywindsorgray   @benedictwindsorgray What: Ridley arrives in London to work at getting his family back. Where: London, England When: June 2017 Notes: None
Ben stared at the arrivals door and felt like his heart had turned into a snitch and was darting all over the place. Lizzie stood in front of Ben with her hair neat and her best dress on with a sign saying welcome home Daddy. Ben felt terrified, what if Ridley didnt want to see him? what if he hated him for leaving for london? what if he thought ben gave up on him? Ben sighed and tried to focus on Lizzie who's smile melted his fears. they both looked up ats the arrival doors opened and ben held his breath
Ridley could feel his heart pounding in his chest, his stomach knotting itself up. The whole flight he was a mess and he was thankful the man next to him had taken a sleeping pill, otherwise he was certain he would've gotten smothered for being so antsy. He was scared. They were both hurting and they were both still in love but...was it too late? Were the wounds too deep for them to get over? He waited for the plane to empty, dreading getting off the plane, unaware that his (ex?)husband and daughter were waiting for him. He slowly shuffled off and was surprised when he got out to see two familiar faces. He fell to his knees and opened his arms as Lizzie came running over. He held her tight, feeling some tears slip as he held his daughter for the first time in far too long.
Ben felt his heart almost tear out his chest when he saw Ridley. It took every fibre in his being not to smother him with kisses. He then watched Ridley curl up with Lizzie and sighed inwardly. had he even noticed ben? "How was your flight?" Ben asked softly.
Ridley clung to his daughter, almost scared to look at Ben. Would he see love in his eyes? Or would it be cold indifference? Eventually, he stood, Lizzie still wrapped around him. "It was...quiet." He said, giving him a small shy smile. He wanted to kiss him, to squish Lizzie between them as they embraced but he didn't know where the boundaries were. "It was a nice surprise to see you both waiting to greet me." He said shyly.
Ben felt his heart melt when Ridley's blue eyes locked with his. ben blushed and a few freckles appeared across the bridge of his nose. " Well, we couldnt have you arrive with no welcoming party and Lizzie has new paints." He stopped himself from rambling on and started to walk to the entrance "So your mum called. She wants you to call her once you have settled. "He said and smiled at Lizzie who kissed ridley ad signed we missed you. Ben took hsi luggage so Ridley could hold lizzie and then he headed to the car.
Ridley felt his heart stopped as he locked eyes with Ben. He smiled softly when he blushed, he missed seeing that. He didn't have the heart to tell him that he wasn't sure they would want to meet him. "Well it was a lovely surprise after a long flight-" he said and setting Lizzie down so he could tell her 'I loved the sign. Very pretty'. He took her hand as they headed toward the doors, rolling his eyes when he heard his mother had called Ben to pass him a message. "I will, though I suspect she may have fallen asleep by then." He added, looking down as Lizzie tugged on his pants so he knelt down and smiled as she gave him a kiss and confessing they missed him. 'I missed you both too' he answered, not daring to look up to see Ben's reaction. He scooped her up as Ben took the luggage, ever the gentleman, and went to the car. "Oh um the address..." He said, rambling off the address to the condo. He had called ahead and make sure everything was set up but his heart ached, knowing that it was going to be sad to see the mostly barren place instead of their home.
Ben raised his brows and gave a rare smile. " that's at the end of our street." Ben said as he walked over to the Bentley and clicked his key fob for the trunk to open and then putting the cases inside. He settled Lizzie then opened the door for Ridley and then walking over to his side. Once on the road he tried to think of something to say " did you want Lizzie to stay with you tonight ?" He asked stopping himself from putting his hand on Ridleys thigh.
Ridley bit his lip. "I know. I didn't want to be too far..." He said, though he realized now if it didn't go well, he wouldn't be able to stay. It'd be too easy to bump into them. So close but so far. He had to stop himself from reaching for him as he opened the door for him. It felt so normal. He settled in and took a deep breath to settle himself. It was quiet as they got on the road which it hurt but he had to let it go. They would get there. "Oh...we should ask her maybe. I was just planning on crashing but I don't want to disappoint her."
Ben shrugged " it's up to you." He said as he stopped at traffic lights " if your jet lagged then we could all hang out tomorrow." Ben suggested trying not to sound desperate.
Ridley knew that it was up to him but he just was worried about disappointing everyone, getting started on the wrong foot. "Yeah, of course. I would like that." He said, trying not to sigh, mentally working on the exercises his doctor had given him to keep from spiraling down. He was here, that was a good step
Ben looked at him with a sad frown. "Listen, if you would rather crash with us tonight thats totally fine. I'll make dinner and you and Lizzie an watch a movie and chill out." He suggested. "You look exhausted and I want to use my oven so its a win win."
Ridley wanted to say yes with every fiber of his being but he couldn't yet. The offer was amazing and it made his heart ache with how much he wanted to say yes. "I...would love dinner but I don't want to give Lizzie mixed messages by staying over until we're ready for that." He said, no matter how hard the words were to say. He was ready to be with Ben right that moment but Ben had been the one to leave so he needed to be the one to decide when it was okay to come back.
Ben sighed. "Fine." He knew it made sense but seeing ridley looking worn out only made him worry. "Well you are still coming over for dinner so thats that." He said and smiled. "No arguments."
Ridley bit the inside of his cheek hard when Ben sighed. He hated that word- fine. It hardly ever meant fine. He had to do this right though so he wouldn't let his sigh get to him. He was going to object but he stopped. "Sure. Dinner sounds nice." He said, looking up as they passed his condo- a few minutes later pulling up to the London home.
Ben parked up and climbed out and opened the door. As soon as Kal saw Ridley, he launched at him and yipped and barked with happiness then looked for bailey. Lizzie dragged Ridley in to the house and pushed hi on to the couch and snuggled onto his lap. Ben smiled and then went into the kitchen to make dinner. "Do you wanna drink? He called out. It was almost like normal. Almost.
Ridley felt his heart stop as they pulled up. Ben grabbed the bags and Ridley took the carrier with Bailey as they headed in. It wasn't a moment later that Kal came charging up, giving him a warm greeting. "Hey buddy." He said, scratching him lightly, laughing softly when he started looking for Bailey. He opened the carrier and let her out, watching the two take off together. He smiled as Lizzie grabbed his hand and dragged him to the couch, making it clear what she wanted. He made himself comfortable and she laid out in his lap. Maybe he wouldn't have a choice after all. "Oh um I can't drink, but thank you." He said, a sharp reminder that something that felt so familiar wasn't really anymore.
Ben nodded. "I was thinking more tea?" He called out again and then burnt his hand on the kettle. "Oww.. fuck." He grumbled and sighed. So far this was a nightmare. He walked into the lounge and asked lzzie to go get him the first aid box. She raced off upstairs and he smiled at Ridley. "Still as clumsy as ever." He said and then cleared his throat."After Lizzie goes to bed are you able to talk?"
Ridley ran his fingers through Lizzie's hair, blushing lightly when Ben implied he had been thinking of tea more than anything. He heard a soft curse and frowned when he came in, sending Lizzie for the first aid kit. He had to stop himself from fussing but at least he looked sympathetic. His heart clenched when he heard what he didn't want to hear, didn't want to face. "Yes, I am." He said softly, knowing that he wished he had some sort of delay but he would never feel ready for it.
Ben could sense he had hit a nerve. "Its gonna be.. ok." He said and sat beside him and placed his hand on his leg. "You are gonna be ok." he smiled and then got up to get the tea for them both. He brought the teapot and cups into the lounge on a tray as lizzie came in with a green first aid box
Ridley took a few deep breaths, trying to stay calm. Ben could still read him though, and did his best to reassure him. It calmed him a little, but his heart was still racing. He was almost grateful when Ben left to make the tea. He had a few moments to gather himself, get used to being here with them but not with them. It felt very cyclical, the reminders, but it was all he could do to stay together. He smiled as Ben came back with a tray to make the tea and Lizzie with her first aid box. 'Take out the aloe Princess' he told Lizzie, waiting for her to hand him the bottle and for Ben to finish making the tea. 'Now ask Papa where it hurts...'
Ben put his hand out as Ridley asked where it hurts. Anything for Ridely to touch him, even if it was just to help him. Ben looked at his hand and realised it was the one with his wedding ring still on show. "Its just here." He said and lizzie helped by pointing to the red mark on his hand
Ridley had meant for Lizzie to tend to Ben since she had her little first aid kit. It seemed though that the pair was determined to have him do it though. His heart twisted a little when he saw he had burnt the hand with his ring. He rubbed his own and Lizzie pointed it the burn out as if his hesitation was just because he wasn't sure where he was hurt. He poured out some aloe into his fingers, gently rubbing it onto the burn, making sure it was well covered but he wasn't pressing hard enough to hurt him.
Ben smiled as lizzie ran off to play with the dog. He reached over and made them both tea. "You want sugar?"
Ridley felt like he could breathe again, watching Lizzie play with Kal, Bailey curled up not too far away. He looked back when Ben asked about sugar. "Yes, one please." He said, reaching out to sip it when Ben stirred in the sugar. He toyed with the tea bag string and shrugged. "How are your parents doing?" He asked, thinking it was a safe enough topic.
Ben smiled at the mention of his parents " oh you know Mum. She wants to go to Barbados next week, dads not sure he should leave London with it being on critical alert." He rolled his eyes " but my mother is stubborn."
Ridley laughed softly when he heard the dilemma his parents were going through. "I'm inclined to agree with your father. We both know though that your mother is going to get her way." He smiled, imagining the pair of them arguing in that fierce physical way that you have to use when you communicate via sign language.
Ben smiled and shook his head. "Sometimes I wonder which one of them I am more like." He then smiled remembering that he had his mothers adventurous lack of fear but his fathers sense. "I'd go with mums idea she wont back down, you know what she's like."
Ridley grinned when Ben commented about his parents. "I think its definitely pretty even but depending on the situation that you're in." He answered, knowing that Ben definitely had his moments where you could see which parent he took after. "Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Though it is a troubling time so who knows maybe she'll see reason." He said, doubting it but he knew his mother in law wouldn't want to cut her vacation short and rush home either.
Ben laughed. "This is my mother. She is one stubborn old dear." He chuckled as Lizzie came back into the lounge and signed to show Ridley around the house while ben made dinner. "Sure go and take a look." He said and went into the kitchen and felt the mood thaw a little.
Ridley smirked as Ben referred to his mom as a stubborn old dear. She was a lovely woman but when she set her mind to things, that was that. He looked to Ben and blushed lightly, smiling wide as Lizzie came running over. She wanted to show him around and he hesitated but Ben urged him along. He marveled as they headed around the place, wishing that there was a place for him here. He let her show him around her room, realizing his condo was going to pale in comparison on nearly every level. Once Ben called for them for dinner, he scooped her up and carried her down to the kitchen.
