after crying coping for a while I really wanted to try tackling their designs. allen was easier than I thought he'd be, though his hair took me a few retries. it looks close to his current haircut, but maybe styled a bit different? I gave him a blue coat since hoshino said she wanted to draw allen in blue and he just got this new coat and is already leaving it behind...so past!allen can have a blue coat for now, I guess.

for bookman jr, well, old habits die hard and I stylized him pretty similar to how I was....drawing him for the past few years lol. green coat to match! as for his hair, lucia mentions that allen's silver hair reminds her of someone's hair when in the light, and given that all of the flashbacks of bookman jr show him with light hair I went with a light blonde!
