What started as simply "you know what? Fuck this. I need a weapon to kill Anubis to get to the City Of Gold again because I fucking died before I could unlock Au. I'm robbing the Black Market." eventually became a new headcanon, as follows;
Demi holds a major grudge against Guy after the way she was treated in Spelunky HD (or rather how the player is able to treat her).
Every time she's been saved, she has been grateful and given him a kiss (and a health point). But he's also used her as a human shield against Arrow Traps, sacrificed her to Kali, used her as worm bait, brain-fried her with the Scepter (usually by accident), and in the end, when they all all escaped the caves, Guy chose to go out with Tina Flan instead of her.
Death may have lost its meaning in these caves, but given that the game keeps track of all of them, it's only logical that the spelunkers themselves do to.

The Story (tw; illness, depression):
The Ferrero family are perfectionists as a way to compensate for their lack of glittering gold crowns atop their heads and cushioned velvet thrones beneath their bums. Salome's upbringing was certainly evidence of their desperate need to maintain their image of exceptional breeding and upbringing. By the ripe age of 5, she had the most beautiful voice in all of Italy. It was miraculous how such a little girl could sing such melodies that could stop all war and end all strife. But it was the family's intention to make her singing as a weapon; the shiniest toy in the chest to prove just how superior the Ferrero's were. Salome trained tirelessly for years to strengthen her gift until the age of 18, when her songs weren't as sweet as they once were. A physician discovered that they contracted an uncontrollable disease that ripped through her vocal chords, which was only made worse by her overusing and overworking them. If they ever wanted to hum a tune for their own leisure, they must never be permitted to sing on a grand stage ever again.
Devastated, Salome was The Ferrero Family's greatest disappointment, a stain on their tapestry. If she could not perform, she was useless. The sadness seeped into her skin and would have nearly destroyed her if it were not for a retreat to the Sicilian countryside, where she encountered the Ricci family and their eldest son, Angelo. Never were two so destined for one another. As far as the Ferrero's were concerned, at least she could become a good wife and a duchess, and so they permitted the marriage and by the age of 20, Salome turned to a new life. Angelo's way of life on the land was entirely foreign against the backdrop of diamonds and ivory marble floors, but she was so desperate for a change of scenery that she accepted it with open arms.
Suddenly, her marble halls were turned into trees of fruit and berries. The polished floors were muddy in the rainy season and dusty in the dry season. Her perfectly hemmed dresses were now covered in dirt and pollen. Flowers of all colors found homes in their hair each time they set foot outside. The animals were her chosen children until they decided to make a family of their own. Out of fear of spreading their illness to biological offspring, they decided to adopt children. It reminded them an awful lot of how their lost soul needed a new life, and now they would do that for little children they would call her own.
Through the years, Salome's reflection of themselves has changed. Once she was a picture-perfect Lady, smiling to mask the tortured tears that often fell down her face as her tired voice cried for help. Now, they were as free and pure as the air in the trees, energy shifting from the earth to the sky to send messages of hope and optimism, despite how many unlucky trials life may throw their way. A lady no longer, but sunlight, breeze, dew, and flowers.

Someone Taking Advantage of Her: I just think a negative sort of connection would be so interesting because Salome's kindness is often confused with them being naive and that is definitely not the case. She will snap when she needs to, especially to protect her babies.

Οι 100αδες του BBC είναι από τις λίστες αυτής της δεκαετίας που συζητιούνται λίγο περισσότερο σε σχέση με τις πολλές που περνούν από τα μάτια μας, σχεδόν σε καθημερινή βάση πλέον. Φτιαγμένες έτσι ώστε να περιλαμβάνουν όσο το δυνατόν ένα ευρύτερο φάσμα, είναι αποτέλεσμα καλέσματος του βρετανικού μέσου προς έναν μεγάλο αριθμό κριτικών και ακαδημαϊκών, που σφραγίζουν την αυθεντικότητα της.
Μετά από τις αντίστοιχες των 100 ταινιών γενικώς αλλά και των 100 του 21ου αιώνα, το BBC κυκλοφόρησε το αποτέλεσμα της έρευνας που έκανε σε 209 ειδικούς, φροντίζοντας και για το ανάλογο diversity καθώς αυτοί βρίσκονται σε 43 χώρες ενώ η αναλογία ανδρών-γυναικών είναι 55-45%.
Το αντικείμενό της ήταν οι μη αγγλόφωνες ταινίες και οι αθάνατοι «Επτά Σαμουράι» του Ακίρα Κουροσάβα, πήραν μάλλον αναμενόμενα την πρώτη θέση, με τον «Κλέφτη Ποδηλάτων» του Ντε Σίκα και το «Tokyo Story» του Όζου να συμπληρώνουν την πρώτη τριάδα. Άλλη μια ταινία του σκηνοθέτη να βρίσκεται στην πρώτη πεντάδα, το «Ρασομόν» που είναι τέταρτο.
Οι συμμετέχοντες δήλωσαν από 10 ταινίες ο καθένας με αξιολογική σειρά, ώστε να προκύψει το τελικό αποτέλεσμα. Οι σκηνοθέτες που έχουν τις περισσότερες θέσεις μέσα στην 100άδα είναι ο Ίνγκμαρ Μπέργκμαν και ο Λουί Μπουνιουέλ (από 5), με τον Κουροσάβα να ακολουθεί με 4.
Σε άλλα ενδιαφέροντα στατιστικά της λίστας, τα γαλλικά αποδεικνύονται η πιο δημοφιλής γλώσσα, καθώς ακούγονται σε 27 ταινίες, πολύ μακριά από τις 12 όπου ακούγονται Μανδαρινικά και τις 11 των ιταλικών.
Από τις τέσσερις μόλις ταινίες που είναι σκηνοθετημένες από γυναίκες, το «Jeanne Dielman, 23 Commerce Quay, 1080 Brussels» της Σαντάλ Άκερμαν βρίσκεται στην υψηλότερη θέση – στο νούμερο 14.
Δύο φιλμ αυτής της δεκαετίας κατάφεραν ήδη να θεωρούνται κλασικά ώστε να έχουν θέση εδώ, η «Αγάπη» του Μίκαελ Χάνεκε και ο «Χωρισμός» του Ασγκάρ Φαρχαντί, ενώ από τη λίστα δε θα μπορούσε να λείπει ο Θόδωρος Αγγελόπουλος, έστω και αν βρίσκεται στην τελευταία θέση με το υπέροχο Τοπίο στην Ομίχλη.

I love gentle mornings.
Honestly, I can't recall the last time I have had a rude awakening. My biggest enemy of sleep recently had been insomnia : night hawks that visited me frequently until I remembered I had a pet falcon.
So a gentle morning still means everything to me.
By definition gained through California experience, a gentle morning should require a bit of sun. Waking up naturally with the rhythm of the earth's daily twirl through space. That was the life.
However, as the pavements are tinted a darker grey than usual and the sky shows off its best shade of stillness, I realize gentle mornings also come from rainy nights. That even without the comforting and lilting "drip drip" or rain drops, even without the tantalizing morning dew or even enough surrounding plants to witness it, a morning can be as gentle as they come, no matter what bed you wake up in (hopefully, by the grace of the living and loving God - your own).
My gentle morning came in the form of an aspiration, a hidden affirmation and a clear visualization of a world I thought had gone foggy for the time being. As my chauffeur stood up dignifiedly (ayye, that's a word. Shout out to my private education!) and offered up his seat to my knight in shining diamonds, there was a pause before forcing the scene to follow whichever rabid fantasies were on the loose in my mind and in the accompanying ethereal.
Pause - but in a good way.
"Is this real?"
It seems odd to be back to such simple, basic questions but I have successfully spent the past few days only entertaining, and if necessary, educating, thoughts rooted or sprung from reality.
So as you leaned against the door of the driver's side of the car, in what I can only imagine is one of the softest and lightest hoodies known to man and made to date, I leaned against you just as softly, with an ease that I thought was reserved for high school sweethearts and collegiate soulmates. I didn't ask outright, of course, but in implications. Implying this, recalling this, pulling up memories in conversation form and not as tangible and astral variables to contemplate and consider. Simply put: do I really exist to you?
"Yes, you came to one of my shows. You had on a pink dress. I saw you..."
And even though my auto-correct brain (and Sex and the City fashion education-slash-New York pride) wants to counter-imply that it was actually neon pink - I am grateful for just a moment. Whether it was your family's idea or my future one's, I'm glad I chose that dress and am thankful for the confidence that went with both the decision and the display. It was the best choice of dresses. It does feel good to pay thrift store prices for brands from Fashion Nova to DVF (excuse me, Diane von Fursterberg, please say the von Fursterberg). It does feel good to look good and know exactly who you're looking good for.
What a choice. And even though I'll never know how I looked in your physical eye or mind's eye that night, or if you even saw me according to your assistant's POV of blurry moving bodies in the raptures, I believe you. I am not just a manifestation of my burner account, a Black shit-talking, fact-checking anime come to life. I am not just some spiritual entity parading as a human or demi-god. I am a walking, breathing, existing woman of the divine, and you witnessed my divinity in real time - or at least my silhouette.
My essence.
And my essence is very real to you.
Thank you for such a small yet kind gift so early in the morning.
You are beautiful, btw. I looked for your dreads. The thickness, the texture, the neatness, the attractiveness of it all. But it was your own essence that spoke to me, held me, gently yet strongly like only a real nigga can, no matter the geographical origins. I leaned into you like a real flyy girl, proud of her D-boy boyfriend, soon to be husband. Instead of feeling like a page out of the African-American fiction literature section, it felt reassuring. Peaceful. Calming. Surreal, yet so real, just the way I like it. There was probably even a sunset or sunrise if I had been paying close enough attention to my surroundings.
There was the courting kiss before we climbed into the backseat to get it on. And before the algorithm could pick, choose or assign a position for us, I knew what I wanted and went into action. I want to ride you. Confidently. Comfortably. I want to feel your arms wrapped around me while you nurture me with your... sword? Oh, lord. Too much Sims Medieval and Songs of Solomon coyness and this will turn into a romance or fantasy novel foreal. So, I'll chill.
Besides, that is where the vision faded respectfully. Nobody needs to see all that but you and me, so I look forward to the day when I can see all that, you know: you and me :) I love you.

In Jewelry, the Personal Connection
Julie Pellerin lives with her boyfriend at his stud farm in Normandy, has an apartment in Paris and adores New York.
So when a friend of her family gave her a bracelet in the shape of the Manhattan skyline, she was thrilled. “So many people have all the same jewelry,” Ms. Pellerin, 24, said, “but this you don’t see on everybody.”
The friend was the jeweler, sculptor and artist Mia Fonssagrives-Solow, and Ms. Pellerin has turned to her since to create more highly personal, one-of-a-kind pieces, including two wide cuffs. One was in black stingray; the other, silver leather, and both have silhouettes of horses crafted in sterling silver prancing around their circumferences to reflect Ms. Pellerin’s love of horses. (She rides competitively and often travels to watch equestrian events.)
“When I wear them, so many people ask about them,” Ms. Pellerin said, twisting her arms to show off the cuff on each one. “When you have special jewelry, people are attracted to it.”
It’s little wonder bespoke jewelry is becoming more popular. “Custom and customized jewelry is very hot right now,” Karen Giberson, president of the Accessories Council in New York, said, “and we see it continuing. It appeals to the desire for something unique, individualized and thoughtful.” And “there are great options” at a variety of prices, she added, “from mainstream to luxury.”
While the consensus among jewelry makers and retailers is that the sector is growing, there are no estimates of total sales or the proportion of jewelry sales it represents.
Yet custom jewelry is in such demand that Bergdorf Goodman is rolling out a series of trunk shows featuring custom jewelry makers, following on the success of its Custom Jewelry Event, which for two years brought together more than a dozen jewelers who create one-of-a-kind pieces. Increasingly “our clients are looking for something truly unique that expresses their individual style,” Elizabeth von der Goltz, the store’s senior vice president overseeing jewelry, said. “They are looking for something meaningful to them, something they can relate to. They want a personal connection to the jewelry.”
The term custom can be confusing. Jewelry that is engraved or has a charm or bead added to it is generally known in the industry and in retail circles as personalized jewelry; such customization is readily available at department and jewelry stores. But jewelry that is made for one person is custom, or bespoke.
Most people are familiar with custom clothing — like a tailored men’s suit or couture dress — and as technology has accelerated fitting and assembly techniques, fashion brands’ “made-to-measure” lines (a kind of demi-couture) has grown. But while jewelry made for individuals has deep roots in the history of people around the world, it is only recently that public taste has gone beyond manufactured pieces to again embrace distinctive designs. “We’ve seen it in fashion, and now it’s nice to see it in jewelry,” Ms. von der Goltz said.
Ms. Fonssagrives-Solow, the New York-based creator of Ms. Pellerin’s horse cuffs, said she has created hundreds of pieces of custom jewelry as a result of word of mouth. “I loved the Booth dogs in ‘The New Yorker’ cartoons and made myself a pin of one,” she said. “People would say, ‘I love your dog, but can you make one of my poodle?’ ”
For one family extremely fond of its Jack Russell terrier, she made cuff links of the pet for the husband, a pin for the wife and earrings for the daughter, all in silver with sapphire eyes. “For private customers, I’ll do anything,” said the jeweler, whose custom prices start at $200 and can be emailed at [email protected]. She said she even made a silver meerkat belt buckle for a woman whose son was researching the animals in the Kalahari Desert, adding, “I get wonderful, funny requests.”
Other commissions are sentimental, such as one that the Russian-born jeweler Alex Soldier got from a New Yorker. “It was a husband who wanted something special for his wife for their 10th anniversary,” said the New York-based jeweler, who has done work for the Bolshoi Ballet and the Princess Grace Awards in Monaco. “They had met at the New York Botanical Gardens and he wanted to commemorate that.”
Mr. Soldier created a diamond and ruby anemone — her birthstone was a ruby, for July — that could be worn as a pin, pendant, ring or bracelet.
“With everyone on the computer today, there’s a backlash against mass production,” Mr. Soldier said, whose custom pieces with precious jewels begin at $10,000. “People want something unique, something special.”
Lily Gabriella Elia, a Brazilian designer working in London, has also received romantic commissions. She made a ring with two grade A natural Tahitian pearls (“It took me four weeks to source them,” she said) that she placed as if they were “kissing” to commemorate the 30th anniversary of a couple who spent their honeymoon sailing the South Seas.
Ms. Elia said that creating such a piece can take weeks, if not months. “I discuss with the client about each of the specific requirements of their bespoke jewelry design, to ensure I create exactly what they have in mind,” she said. “This includes the precious metals and type of stone, whether it is a diamond or a stunning gemstone, I can truly customize every single portion.
“Clients sometimes have an idea of what they want the item to look like,” she continued. “If not, I will provide them with ideas. I create hand-drawn sketches. This is done with the client together, or I scan and email the drawings at a later time. Once the client is 100 percent happy with the design, one of my craftsmen creates a wax or silver model. The client can now see exactly the shape, size and thickness of their piece.”
One the model has been approved, the metal base is made and sent to the London Assay Office to be stamped with her maker’s mark, the metal quality mark and the leopard’s head that indicates it was examined in London.
“Once returned,” she said, “the stone or stones are set and the finished article is polished and placed in a personalized jewelry box, ready for the client.” Little wonder prices for such efforts start at about 10,000 pounds ($12,200).
By all means, get the 1 3 carat diamond earrings you can afford, but make sure they has also the clearest, best cut, and most colorless diamonds you can afford.
