“Eager to get home, are we?” He smiles—bordering on a smirk—his face so close to hers she can smell his cologne.
Warmth spreads in her cheeks at the reminder of how close they’d been to… whatever would have happened if Linda hadn’t called.
“We’re having guests in less than two hours,” she reminds him.
“We can still cancel, you know,” he tells her, not for the first time. And not for the first time, Chloe is tempted. When they’d planned this dinner, they didn’t know that they’d be… that it’d be only a few days after Lucifer had revealed the truth to her and everything changed between them. They didn’t know that there’d be nothing they’d want more than to spend the evening alone with each other, just the two of them and this new, exciting thing between them, but-
“We can’t,” she tells him again. “We planned this a month ago. And besides, the cart is already half-full with ingredients for lasagna for six people and a baby.”
“I’ll make six lasagnas for you,” he offers. “And we can just tell them you’re sick.”
Chloe glances at him as she pushes the cart forward. “I thought you didn’t lie.”
“Well, you could just tell them you’re sick.” He smiles at her, that annoying, teasing, frustratingly irresistible smile that made it hard to get out of the house in the first place. “And then we can eat six lasagnas and drink that Barolo you like.”

Chloe kisses him like a woman starving. For years she'd been denied this connection. The pain of never finding her Soulmate for so long forced her to shove the fanciful notion away, ignored and left to wither. Now that she has found her match—that it's Lucifer...
His body pins hers, but she doesn't mind, likes the weight and power of him. Her Soulmate is strong and capable and completely hers. Ineffable sensation, searing and simultaneously smoky, blooms through her body.
In the past, out of bitterness, Chloe brushed aside the notions of feeling complete, finding your other half to become whole, and all the other soulmate propaganda bullshit society spouts. She'd been complete all on her own, thank you. But there is no denying the strange moreness filling her to the brim.

A Refraction of Light
314k words. My giant post-S3 canon divergence that spans Earth, Hell, and Heaven. If you didn't like Lucifer's Netflix era (the last three seasons) or wished there were more power couple vibes for Deckerstar, you might enjoy AROL. Though I finished it in 2020, after S4 had aired, I think it works quite well as a S4-S6 fix-it for those who'd like one.
In Sorrow Thou Shalt Bring Forth Children
210k words. The 50 female-focused "blip" years Lucifer's finale conveniently left out, also several post-S6 chapters. Heavy angst surrounding family and spiritual trauma but aims to be cathartic by acknowledging pain. All that said, more humor and Deckerstar than you'd probably expect, given the CW tags.
Reins Series: Try My Reins and My Heart & As Certain Dark Things Are to Be Loved
35k words when read together. Porn with feelings/plot. Fun, sweet kinkiness that should be read in order. Dominant!Lucifer because I struggle to see the Devil otherwise and because Chloe deserves a fucking break in the care of her sex god beau.

Rebound to You
12k words. Feel-good, funny, sexy AU where Lucifer is still the Devil, but he and Chloe didn't meet as in canon. Instead, they meet a couple of years later, after Lucifer has naturally gotten a phone and Chloe has divorced Dan and is now resorting to dating apps to meet people. Features a fun gimmick of Tinder-like chat logs (used sparingly, I promise).
Something More & Pump It Up
11k words when read together. These two canon compliant fics won't seem like they go together at first, but I promise they do (thematically). Both are pre-canon and about the subtle ways in which Lucifer and Chloe are an amusingly great match. They just haven't met (yet) to know it! The first story is sweet and about Jed and Chloe's relationship; basically a character study of Chloe as told from Jed's POV. The second is a bit of a sex farce about Lucifer watching Hot Tub High School after settling in L.A., but it's also porn with plot or at least a character study.
Not to Mii
10k words. Lucifer sticks around at the end of S3's "The Last Heartbreak." One thing leads to another, and you get strip Mario Kart. I promise it works.
The Fine Line Between Desire and Fear
10k words. Feel-good and silly post-5A divergence featuring a haunted mansion on Halloween. Almost solely Deckerstar-focused but also imagines a future where Michael is trying to redeem himself and earn Ella's affection; the only problem is that he's afraid...of a lot, actually. The irony!
Sweet and Sour
10k words. A comical Michael/Ella fic based on the 5A trailer. Turned out to be rather in-character for many aspects of Michael, so it holds up, I think.
Now That's What I Call Big Devil Energy! Series: Big Devil Energy & Satan's Got a Heart On
9k words when read together. Funny, sweet chaos. Lucifer being a completely over-the-top Devil in love.
All You Can Play

happy fanfic writer's appreciation day! what's your favourite scene you've EVER written???
Oh my gosh! Hard hitting question right out of the gate I see!
Of course, any question like this is like forcing me to choose between my children, you realize. But I'm going to have to go with the first scene that comes to mind, which is the reveal scene from The Devil You Know that I'm still very proud of and worked very hard on. I consider the entire first chapter the scene, which I'm not going to quote here, just an excerpt:
The first thought Chloe had wasn’t a thought at all. Just primordial instinct, awakening after thousands of years of evolution. Danger. Run. Escape. Her whole body tensed, ready for flight.
But nothing attacked her. There was no anger or bloodlust in the red eyes that bored into hers; instead a very real sadness, almost a gentleness. It looked so incongruous on that ravaged face that it shocked her out of her initial, primal response and into something more measured before she’d had a chance to move.
Her instincts continued shrieking at her. Devil. Devil. There had to be something, some aura, some imprinted biological memory, because the face didn’t match any depictions of the Devil she’d ever seen. Still, there could be no doubt.
The Devil was real.
And he was sitting in her living room.
Chloe’s subconscious couldn’t decide on an expletive strong enough so it settled for all of them at once.
They said your life flashed before your eyes before you died. Chloe had never experienced such a thing herself, but apparently it also happened when you found out that your partner was the actual Devil. Every interaction they’d ever had played on fast-forward through her mind.
Lucifer. Morningstar.
Is that a stage name or something?
God-given, I’m afraid.
I got it. I got it! The name, the whole Lucifer thing, and desire’s like your superpower.
More like a gift from God, really.
I’m sure where he’s going, the pain’s coming.
No, it’s not, actually, because I’m here-
I could add an ironic twist, like I used to when I ran Hell.
Oh. Oh. OH.
It kept going, round and round and round in her head until she thought it would burst.
The Devil? Real thing. Which meant...
God? Real thing.
Heaven and Hell? Real things.
Fuck. Shitfuckfuck-
I'll be honest, I'm pretty sure my fondness for it isn't necessarily a reflection on its quality so much as it being an entirely unique (at least it was when I wrote it) take on the reveal scene trope. I put a lot of work into it because I wanted to get it right.
I guess that means I peaked 5 years ago 😂 But more seriously, I try to resist the temptation to just pick something from my most recent work, because what you've just written is always freshest in your mind and represents the culmination of your skill thus far.

Short little piece I jotted down in my phone notes thinking about our favorite angsty Devil. I'm trying to get back into writing, and these little pieces I write help.

That fucking name.
That name given to him by his father, that wretched horrible word that encompassed everything he was before the rebellion. The best of the best, the favorite, the smartest and wisest and most powerful of all angels. Second only to God himself. A name as dead to him as that perfect child he had strived to be.
When Amenadiel had called him by it, he became enraged. How dare his older brother try to invoke that past, that desire to be good and do their best. "Do not call me that! "
When the Doctor, Linda, had said it, it filled him with disgust and self loathing. How could she know? She has no idea what she is invoking. The name that connotated his father's love? Fucking ridiculous. "I don't go by that name anymore."
When Michael had called him that, he could have ripped his twin's throat out right there. I may not be that obedient child anymore that you mock with your names, but I am still better than you, in all ways, and you dare not push me far enough to test that.
When his father called him by his old name, he was furious. He was not that angel anymore, and it was ENTIRELY His fault. He was the one that cast him from Heaven, He had been the one to turn him into a devil, and He had the gall to call him by his angel name?
When she said it, his heart broke. She was calling out to the fallen, broken child that had been cast aside, the softness and the goodness that she insisted she could see within him. The broken pieces that were no longer there, but she made him want to believe they were. The pieces that the Detective sought out and hunted for in his words and his actions. The pieces she took into her hands when she cradled his face and looked straight into his soul. The pieces she gently tried to fit back together, as futile as that was, when she held him. That name broke his heart over and over on her lips, because he wanted so desperately to be that good, heavenly angel for her, because Chloe deserved that, and he couldn't give that to her.
Lucifer could never be the Samael she deserved.
