Hoooooooo boy this is my darkest one yet. We've finally reached Dead Dove, bois! I was hesitant to even post this, but I'm genuinely proud of it. I'm going to leave a snippet and a link to my AO3 so it's easier to read the tags before getting into the content.

Glasses clink. Alcohol stains the carpet. Chatter echoes, feeling miles away from your booth tucked into the corner. You have no idea where you are. It’s a port town… of some sort. Somewhere the twins agreed to take you, to give you that taste of landwalker food that you needed . There’s a plate of fries in front of you, growing cold. Honestly, it’s… dizzying. You haven’t been in such a casual setting in what feels like years— you really hope it hasn’t been years . But you find yourself staring blankly at a group of rowdy college kids playing darts. There’s a mother and daughter gossiping about their husbands in the corner. It’s so… normal. Hauntingly normal. Something you crave and feel alienated from all at once.

“Shrimpy?” Floyd leans into view, face pale with the potion that makes him ‘human.’ But it’s not perfect. His fangs are barely hidden by thinned lips. His hooded eyes still look far too feral. “Y’said you’d eat if we brought you here.”

“Is it not to your liking?” Jade murmurs. “I can get you something else if you like, Pearl—” “N-No!” You flinch the plate closer to your chest, almost protectively cradling it as you start to scarf them down. Salt stains your lips. And it’s good and it’s fried and lovely and…. Tears bud in your eyes. God, it tastes like home.
