Okay I've had this project open for like. Way too long now and I've hit a brick wall with it but i still would like to share what I have so here's this idea I've been mulling around about the disco skills being court jesters. I only have the psyche skills done but hopefully soon I'll have the inspiration for the others and also fully color these. Enjoy

I've been trying all week to figure out why I was so immediately invested in Kim Kitsuragi, like what did the writers do that made me love this character so strongly and so quickly, and what I've got is:
the introduction to the game being so unexpected and disorienting (positive)
every NPC I talk to being like 'we don't want to talk to you. your partner's here, go talk to him'
the Kim introduction literally starting with the game telling me 'this man would die for you'
each conversation immediately following this introduction being covered in 'Kim is disappointed in you' landmines
me, clinging to the only person who's explaining anything, really wanting to be worthy of him
#like i would have died for kim fully within like an hour of starting the game and it's taken my a while to process why lmao#im just a sucker for displays of devotion in fiction#and it takes a while to realize the 'this man would die for you' isnt actually about YOU at all it's just about KIM#like kim's not devoted to harry at that point whatsoever he's just devoted to being a good cop#the 'he is your half-brother' line got me SO confused because I didn't understand what the skills were doing in any conversation#so i was taking it literally and like 'uhhhhhhh is he?? he's not tho right?? he would recognize if he was wouldnt he??' lol#anyway I'm kinda curious how I would have felt about Kim if my espirit de corps hadn't been high enough to get that skill comment#and as fascinated as i am in examining why I like certain characters#(I'm starting to track some similarities-Kim hits 'bottled up' and 'devoted' on my trends list but weirdly enough also 'sharpshooter'??)#(he's not a sharpshooter but he seems to match that category for extraneous reasons which i find fascinating about me lol)#im also very interested in learning more about how storytellers get audiences to like certain characters too
