For my first of two super fun DCRB24 collabs, I got paired with the amazing sunkenfox <3

When I put in this art prompt that would inevitably lead to both Destiel and JenMish content, I was a bit worried that no one would want to write it - especially because my Reverse Bang ideas are usually very specific. Sunkenfox took on the challenge and exceeded all my expectations though! Whenever I had suggestions or asked for little tweaks, they didn't hesitate to work them in somehow and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. It has (non-explicit but very in love) Cockles, Queen Danneel on board, our boys finally finding their way to each other, and maybe a few fandom shenanigans too ;)

Art Masterpost: I'll Follow You Into the Dark Story by: FriendofCarlotta (@friendofcarlotta) Art by: sidewinder (@hawkland) It's exciting to get to post on the opening day of the @deancasreversebang this year, and collaborating with @friendofcarlotta, no less! I've been so eager to share this work; the main art piece is one that I did in an absolute frenzy of inspiration, and I was really pleased with how it came out. It's one of my favorites that I've done in a while and the story FriendofCarlotta wrote to go with it is *chef's kiss* all that I could have asked for!

The genesis of the original art piece was in thinking about how only angels and demons can (supposedly) go to the Empty. If that's the case, then what if Dean chose to "go demon" again in order to rescue Cas?

This is one of my really large pieces (20"x16") so I had a lot of room to play with the details and color - and thankfully I kept good notes so I could match colors when working on the title art piece as well. I feel like I was channeling some of my love for the Venetian masters, especially Tintoretto, with this one in the way I tried to use color and lighting and active poses to make it all very dramatic. Dean's demon wings, too, were done all in one very fortuitous wet-on-wet wash with then just a little highlighting for the spikes.

All he had left was his stubborn will and the love he felt for a man he could never have, with any duty or loyalty to Heaven long behind him. He never thought it’d lead to a baby. Much less a Nephilim, who’s parentage he needed desperately to keep secret.

For my first piece for Dean/Cas Reverse Bang I decided to experiment a bit with the style. It’s different from how I usually draw, but I’m very happy with the end result.

The piece was claimed by the wonderful @avonlady42 who wrote the beautiful story ‘An Unexpected Encounter‘ based on it. I’m a sucker for Cas showing Dean how special and beautiful he is inside and out and this story ticks all the boxes.

You know what? I truly, totally lucked out with my @deancasreversebang collabs this year! Two fantastic partners and two very delightful stories <3

From an artistic POV, one was more of a "faces & expressions" practice for me, while this one was definitely an anatomy challenge. Or an excuse to draw some angel cake? ... xD Anyway, here's my initial "Hockey Players gone Figure Skating" prompt:

I was SO excited when the amazing tiamatv claimed my art!! We already worked together once before and her way of storytelling made me so very happy, giddy and emotional <3

Tia put a ton of research and heart into writing my prompt, and I ended up learning much more about hockey and figure skating than I anticipated when I said, "I have no clue about hockey OR figure skating so don't worry about it, I'd just love an emotional journey!" - Tia managed to do it all, and with an insane word count for the short time she had on top. So the least I could do was provide one more "anatomy practice" :D

I'm actually a bit salty that this month has been so busy that I couldn't draw one more art piece - the story certainly would've deserved it. Well, maybe it'll call me back later :)

Art Masterpost: Lost in Colours Story by: ryuosen Art by: sidewinder (@hawkland) It's perfect timing that tomorrow I leave for my annual trip to Italy, and today I'm sharing my Venetian-themed entry for the @deancasreversebang!

Venice is my favorite place in the world—not so much the heavily tourist-trafficked areas like the Rialto Bridge or San Marco Piazza, but the quiet, haunting canals and alleyways where, even today, you can sometimes be the only soul in sight. Or the other islands in the lagoon that most day-trippers never visit (like San Lazzaro degli Armeni, which is the island where I took the photo that was inspiration for the title art.) The main art piece is also based on one of my own photographs I took about 6 years ago on my last trip to Venice—I can't wait to be back there on my upcoming trip. I had the idea of a post-series Dean finally working up the nerve to travel outside of North America, and being haunted by glimpses of someone who looked like Cas...was that an angel on that bridge at sunset, or just a play of the light and color against the shimmering water? (There's also a fabulous 1973 psychological horror film set in Venice, Don't Look Now, that's basically the vibe I was going for in this art.)

Anyway. Such is my long-winded introduction to these two pieces! I'm so delighted ryuosen chose and was inspired by one of my art pieces again (last DCRB we worked together on "King of the Empty.") I enjoyed our conversations talking through our ideas, and I hope you enjoy the story that came from it all!

I'm posting today from on the road in Italy—it's the last of my three @deancasreversebang collaborations for this year! My thanks to @rathskitten for claiming this submission of mine. Like my fantasy bang submission that became Bleeding the Divine, it was based on an original photograph by Wilhelm von Gloeden of a Sicilian fisherman with a guitar on a boat. For some reason the pose and everything gave me vibes of Cas as either some kind of pirate!angel or water-spirit, and that turned into this artwork:

I'm also including these two variations of the art, as I used colorshift/metallic paint on the wings which make them look very different depending on the angle of the lighting.

Summary: Dean knew he wasn't supposed to interfere in other universes but he'd been desperate to find one where things worked out alright for his family, and you could barely call what he'd done interfering anyways, no matter what Jack said. It had been just a little nudge, really, hardly anything at all. Now, back in Heaven, he just needed to sit tight and see how things played out. Except when had Dean ever been any good at waiting? Or, Dean heads back to The Winchesters' universe to check on his parents and their friends, but multiverse hopping is complicated and he lands there to find that over twenty years have passed and, although he's relieved to find that everything turned out well, some things turned out much differently than he could have ever imagined.
