@OneOceanDiving #TigerSharkHaleiwa #TigerSharkEatingWhale Video from this morning of a tiger shark doing what they are designed to do: keeping the ocean ecosystem in balance and healthy, keeping disease from spreading and moving nutrients and influencing prey items so the ocean is healthy and in balance. It was beautiful to watch nature at its finest and help assure this whale and it’s #shark escorts went offshore rather than into the #Surflineup at #aliibeach #Haleiwa or #Puaena where we picked it up and towed it offshore under #NOAA @noaa permit #18786. We survey shark populations daily and it was interesting to see that only 4 tigers showed up for the feast and all were plump, peaceful, and generally very shy. I am grateful that we get to not only study sharks daily but that we are also constantly sharing our knowledge and these incredible experiences with the public with the #OneOceanSharkProgram a two hour program open to all ages to help people learn about sharks and gain real experience in a “way safer than driving” guided situation. Mahalo nui loa to my incredible team who stayed up all night making sure the whale stayed off shore and endured more hours of towing it over 7 miles this afternoon.
