To celebrate the sixth anniversary of Tastes of Tamriel, I'm proud to finally present the official unofficial worldbuilding compendium! Compiled from your asks since this blog's inception, this is your one-stop guide to all things worldbuilding in The Elder Scrolls universe. From aromatherapy and cheeses to drinks for the Divines and Tamriel's worst dishes, there's something in here for everybody.
I'd like to take this moment to extend an enormous thanks to the fans and followers who have made this tome possible. Without your asks, this wouldn't exist! I hope you enjoy reading this revised and polished version as much as I did writing it.
Thank you especially to @an-orsimer-and-a-gentlemer, @scrollsnsketchbooks and @akaviri-dovah for your tireless work on polishing this gem up! Please be sure to give them all a follow!
Here's to many more years of Tastes of Tamriel! And if you enjoy this compendium, feel free to show your support with a donation (it's much appreciated)!
Stay safe, eat well, be kind. ~Tal

Went on a tangent a bit about this on twt but the useless hill I'm ready and willing to die on is wanting these rpg worlds to have a more fleshed out (from a lore perspective) explanation to how the currency system works, because so many just use single gold pieces, which makes sense in a gameplay way but how does this work in terms of commerce... Are we just carrying around sacks of several hundreds of thousands of coins...
Just think about how much of a pain in the ass it would be to buy an enchanted weapon from an enchanter for, even just 1k gold, okay maybe we can assume there's like some standardized 500 gold sleeves (like how there are coin rolls irl) well what if that weapon is a weirder number like 1439 gold, okay well now you gotta get more specific, and the vendor's counting all the coins to make sure you got the right amount (assuming we're talking purchasing rather than bartering, but at least in TES, bartering has long stopped being a thing) And don't even get me started on large quantity sales like purchasing estates... I know we're never going to get an actual banking system like Daggerfall again, but at least...idk have a bank or mention of that stuff somewhere, even if it's just flavor text or decorative and has no gameplay function to it... I am begging....

Yo!
Did you change your avatar/ PFP/ icon recently, or am I just really slow on the update?
IDK who they are, but they have gorgeous hair 😄️
Yo!
Why, yes. I did change my Icon recently. Thank you for noticing, and thank you for your kind words :)
And she's Zahasa, my Agent from Daggerfall. She's an Ohmes-raht Khajiit.
She probably took a lot of time to get her hair done, but we canonly have 12 years to save the world so... no one is in a big hurry >:3

The Lusty Argonian Maid is here to clean your chambers! She can also polish your spear, and bake your bread! She’s such a good maid :) Lifts-Her-Tail is the iconic Argonian heroine from the book, “The Lusty Argonian Maid” in the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim! Now you can take her with you wherever you go. Plenty of time!

Hmmm yup yup, I still know how to work this thang. Do forgive my spotty appearances, I’ve been homeless up until recently :0
For the past two days I’ve been trying out Marc’s method because I thought it would save time, but I fucking hated what I was looking at. Couldn’t un-muddy the shadows, the tints just looked wrong. So screw that, I’ll just do it how I always do and at 1h30m in, I’m already halfway done and I like what I’m looking at.
I'll toss this up on Nexus when I'm finished with her.

My Character Art
Hello there, Stranger!
Here's hoping that you are in good health. This be some of my artwork for an old character of mine. They were intended for the older Elder Scrolls 2 Daggerfall & 3 Morrowind quest mods I've been working on for... Oh, more than a decade now. She is a Orsimer, a Orc, raised in Vvardenfell & though I don't have a "real" name yet I have her life & questlines mostly finished.
I refer to her as Yaomo "the Spider", a runaway child raised Morag Tong enforcer that becomes a Redoran Privateer secretly helping runaway slaves escape Morrowind. It is based on the writing methods of Ted Petersons' Historical Fantasy & Kirkbrides' Team usage of Metaphysical Abstraction.
I've written about it more below. Read if interested & tell me your thoughts, please & thank you. Advice on art is also welcomed!
Regardless, please drink clean water & rest when able. You deserve nice things!
Orcs are based on the nomads of the Eurasian Steppe (specifically the Mongol invasions over the Carpathian Mountains), living mostly east of the Wrothgarian Mountains as established in Daggerfall. I've based this characters' features on mixed Eurasians, though I'm not a skilled artist. The 2 Profile pics that focus on her face are what I intend for Yaomo.
As a young adult, she is tasked will eliminating an ambitious wizard in the Daggerfall Region & must travel there from Vvardenfell. She befriends the target only to get captured & terrorized. The player is captured months later but together they escape & ultimately get their revenge through a dungeon built of traumatic events which define different historic eras. Yaomo can then accompany the player before she returns home to Vvardenfell.
In Morrowind, Yaomo has CPTSD & manipulated an alcoholic Redoran aristocrat into letting her captain their merchant ship as a Privateer. She uses this to move cargo, hunt contraband smugglers, & help runaway slaves escape. The player shares in a Lovecraftian mystery that further traumatises Yaomo & cripples her, with the quest built for roleplaying & the results being Yaomo becoming a traumatized monster or further building a happier life to help others.
Lovecraftian elements utilize the unfinished Dreugh & Bosmeri Morrowind lore, based around factions secretly serving the Gods & their efforts to minimize Generational Trauma on Nirn by gathering the Dark Waters [traumatic memories] on the ocean bottom.
So, what do you think?
Above, the artwork depicts Yaomo in her young adult state while in Daggerfall. She is physically based on the Olympian Saori Kimura, growing into a physique of Shiho Yoshimura, though I'm not a skilled artist given my resources. Not depicted is her health issues, as I want them to be rotting from parasites as a young adult. Her personality I based on the isolated "One Armed Wolf" of "Sekiro", the terrified Otoyo from "Red Beard", & the helpful weirdo Shinji from "Paradise Killer". She avoids social situations but speaks bluntly & is confrontational when mistreated. She has different motif bases on the different stages of her life.

I have this great amount of respect and affection for massive fan projects.
Like I wander through TVTropes sometimes and there are these musical projects for some video games and pieces of media. Like there's an Ace Attourney musical (not talking about Random Encounters talking about something else), there's a Portal 2 musical, there is some Game of Thrones fan work titled Westeros, I don't remember how I learned about it but some group of people is working on an opera about Majora's Mask. I think there's a fanmade Pokemon theater thing but I might just be thinking about Pokemon Live. I have not listened to any of these but I have so much love in my heart that they exist.
Fan music in general is something worth so much. If it's original you have someone who cares about something enough to create lyrics and music and share it with the world and even parodies have the love put into finding something that matches the lyrics enough to fit in the original timing and sometimes people make new instrumentals to work with.
Anyway where the fuck is the Transformers fan music
