This is a Johnny Depp hate account. This account stands with Amber Heard and the other countless victims of domestic and gendered violence. This account believes that mutual abuse does not exist, for there will never be "both sides" to an abusive relationship. To claim otherwise is to show a fundamental misunderstanding of abuse.
We are in the midst of an anti-feminist backlash, a backlash that is only going to grow stronger. The verdict of the Virginia trial set us back a hundred years. It showed us that it's okay to punish women for speaking up about the abuse they've endured.
We've learnt nothing from MeToo.

I realize I may lose some mutuals over this, but it needs to be said. The criticism of the Depp v Heard trial is just as biased and oversimplified as the clickbait tiktoks and youtube videos.
If all you saw of the trial were those videos that made light of a serious situation, then I understand your misconception, however there was and is legitimate coverage by actual trial attorneys who provided unbiased commentary, as well as education.
Heard lost the trial because her evidence was not good. Her testimony kept changing. Her witnesses were refuted by actual, empirical evidence. The forensic psychologists on her team did not meet with Depp, while Depp's psychologists met with her. This is on top of a myriad of other points in Depp's favor and/or Heard's lack of credibility, as well as her history of DV and Depp's refuted ones by former partners.
He's not a saint, but he was abused; Heard is on record (as testimony and in a recording between herself and Depp) as acknowledging she struck him, then to tell him that he will not be believed
I was under the same biases at the beginning, too, but a lot of those biases came from the internalized misogynistic* perspective that men cannot be victims of women. Women can be abusers, too; we have to think that more than we just say it and think we mean it.
If you'd like some recommendations on YouTube, see NatalieLawyerChick, EmilyDBaker, and AttorneyTom. These are practicing attorneys and/or legal professionals (Emily was a criminal district attorney, but stepped away and is now a legal consultant/commentator).
Believe who you want, but consider your reasons for doing so. Or don't.

The assumption that women are too weak or too pure to be violent is rooted in sexism, and the assumption that a man cannot be abused by a woman comes also from the perspective that to be abused is to be female, to be female is to be weak, to be weak is subhuman, and men are the only ones with "True Humanity."

i just had like 15 hours of sustained vivid nightmares and woke up with a headache but
in the dream i made a post on tumblr that was like "i've really loved recording these last few eps but i'm finished working with the podcast for reasons that will become clear next week" and it immediately blew up with 2000 notes of people going SIS OMG SPILL THE TEAAAAAA 👀👀👀👀 while i was like. perhaps one of the worst things about this whole mess of hate towards amber heard is that so many people are convinced of her guilt because of the “tell the world” audio
when they have never taken it in it’s full context and choose to only acknowledge the part that satisfies their need to defend depp.
this is the full context of the tape. she literally says she feared for her life. why would she say that to johnny if they both knew it was a lie?
the whole reason she says the whole “tell the world” bit (also consider she never actually says “a man” , she says “man” and that is easily heard if you listen to the tape), is because she was shocked that the man who had spent the last 4 years abusing her, would turn around and say that she was the abuser.
she was shocked that he would call it all a fair fight because he lost his finger (which notice he doesn’t say anything about her cutting his finger off. weird since his excuse for not saying amber did it was “protecting her.” why would he need to protect her, to her?)
she couldn’t believe that anyone in the world would believe he was the victim when she had evidence stemming back years and couldn’t believe that he would even think about saying he was the victim.
conveniently, i never see depp defenders mention any of this. they see the “tell the world” bit and go blind. blatantly doing exactly what adam waldman wanted with his smear campaign.
why would amber say to his face that she thought he was going to kill her, if she was the abuser? if he never had that kind of physical power over her where she literally thought she was going to die?

are you seriously on amber heard's side of this court case? yes, obviously depp is at fault also, but there seems to be a huge difference between between the severity of their actions. all of depp's exes have come forward saying that they never witnessed most of the stuff heard is talking about, and there are recordings that show heard physically and verbally abusing depp to shocking extents. take your #girlboss glasses off for one second and realise that just because she's a woman does not mean she's in the right
My opinions on this case are based entirely on evidence, not on gender.
In fact I was initially swayed by the heavy media bias in favour of Depp until I took a closer look at the evidence and changed my mind.
I have shared several posts breaking down this evidence, which in my opinion aligns much more closely with Heard's version of events.
All of the recordings, photos and other evidence I have seen so far align with Heard's claim that Depp abused her and she was eventually violent towards him in reaction to his prolonged abuse.
I am genuinely curious what you mean when you say there is a huge difference in the severity in their actions with the implication that Heard's actions were worse. From what I have seen that claim simply is not backed up by evidence.
Please link me to these recordings showing Heard physically and verbally abusing Depp because I have seen no such thing.
As I said before, I have already shared several posts compiling the evidence but here's a non exhaustive list:
Depp's claims
JD's claims that AH severed the tip of his finger are not supported by evidence.
In texts and audio recordings from that time and afterwards JD consistently said that he hurt his own finger. This is also what he told medical staff at the ER.
Yes it is possible that this was a figure of speech and/or he was lying to protect Heard. However:
His medical records align much more closely with Heard's claim that he injured his finger when smashing a phone against a wall than his claim that it happened when she threw a glass bottle at him.
Even if you disregard all of the above, there is nothing to support his claim that the injury was caused by Heard. It's his word against hers.
JD's claims that Heard defecated in his bed are not supported by evidence.
There is absolutely no evidence that it was even human feces.
Heard's dog has documented bowel issues (see page 100)
There is no record of Heard ever doing or suggesting anything like this previously. Depp however literally texted an employee suggesting they defecate outside Heard's bedroom door as a prank.
Depp's claims that Heard caused him bruises don't contradict Heard's claims, because she has been open about the fact that she hit him in self defence, but even so his claim is not supported by evidence. The metadata of those photos shows they were taken a year prior to the alleged assault (see page 99).
Heard's claims
Heard's claims that Depp assaulted her are supported by evidence.
Texts from Depp talk about smacking Heard around.
In other texts he says he "pounded and displayed ugly colours" on Heard.
Audio recordings show Depp admitting to headbutting her (though I acknowledge this may have been accidental as Depp claims)
Heard's claims that she was left with bruises after fighting with Depp are supported by evidence. The metadata of the photos confirm the dates (see pages 88 and 107) and her makeup artist testified to seeing and covering up Heard's bruises (see page 89 of same document)
Heard's injuries are also documented in therapy notes and medical records going back several years.
Heard's claims that Depp frequently expressed anger by destroying property, smashing and breaking things is supported by evidence.
There is video footage of him doing this.
There are multiple reported instances of him doing this.
You mentioned that none of Depp's exes have said he abused them (though this does not mean he was not abusive to Heard) but while he may not have been violent towards former partners, he does have a history of violence against paparazzi, security guards, crew etc.
This is not the full extent of the evidence I have seen and reviewed (I simply do not have the time to list and discuss all of it) but the overall pattern is consistent: Heard's claims hold up to scrutiny and Depp's claims do not.
I am continuing to review evidence and am entirely open to changing my mind if new information comes to light. Because the truth is important to me. But in my view the evidence released so far speaks loudly in Heard's favour.
If you have further evidence you would like to show me proving Heard's guilt or Depp's innocence I will absolutely review it.
In the meantime this is my position.

I’m not saying amber heard isn’t a victim because she definitely is and the media did her wrong, but she was abusive too. Shouldn’t both these individuals be held accountable? I mean no harm and I’m open to being educated because I might not be seeing the full picture
Hi, anon! I appreciate the willingness to learn; I’m not sure exactly what you’re referring to but, I believe you’re caught in the myth of mutual abuse.
Mutual abuse is what you’re describing when people say they’re both abusive or “oh, Amber was abusive too!”. It’s a myth perpetuated around this case especially because one of Depp’s witnesses mentioned the term, but it’s not a real phenomenon. Here’s a great explanation I found from The Blackburn Center:
Domestic violence (DV) is about an imbalance of power and control. In an abusive relationship, both partners may exhibit unhealthy or toxic behaviors. However, one person tends to have more power and control over the other. The abuse isn’t “mutual” when one person is reacting to the other’s emotional, physical, financial, or other abuse.
In this case, D*pp has more power and control than Amb*r in the relationship. Her reactions to his abuse are simply that — reactions, not mutual abuse. Her reactions may be unhealthy or toxic, but they’re not abusive like D*pp’s actions are.
