all those videos of dems chanting "four more years" to drown out ppl talking about palestine is so fucking crazy and mask-off... there isn't even anything to say it speaks for itself yknow. these ghouls don't even respond to what pro-palestine hecklers are saying, they don't contest any of it, they're just saying they don't care and want the genocide to continue. like actually astonishing, white amerikans' responses to pro-palestine people heckling us politicians should be studied in history classes as an example of how brazenly, openly, and flagrantly white ppl support genocide

If the US is so concerned with "what the founding fathers wanted" then why do we have a two party system

The only "goal" the Right has put forth in recent years is that they want to stop other people from existing or force them to exist in a way they find more palatable. They want people to stop calling them racist when they say racist things on social media, they want us to stop being so popular on social media so that they can be popular on social media, they want people to stop saying what their pronouns are, they want store clerks to wish them a Merry Christmas, they want LGBTQ people to stop existing, they want Black people to stop complaining about police brutality, they want feminists to stop dying their hair blue and being feminists and to get back in the kitchen and make them a sandwich.

Congrats to Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock. Sympathies and well-wishes to the unnamed woman who got shot in the Capitol. Massive side-eyeing to the Republican politicians and pundits who have been encouraging this BS. This is very, very far from normal, and very very far from OK.

CW: Blood
What does it take to make a river of blood?
The human body has on average 10 pints of blood, or 2.5 gallons. The Connecticut River at Thompsonville has an average discharge of 483 cubic meters per second.
Now, let us consider the number of native Americans killed by European settlers from 1492 to 1592, as a recent CNN article would have it. That number is estimated at 56 million. For the purposes of these calculations let us assume that each body spills 2/3 of its volume of blood, which is about as much as one can lose before death.
56 million times (2.5 x 0.75) is 105 million. So 105 million gallons of blood. That is about 397,468 cubic meters. Divided by 483, that is 822.85 seconds to drain all that blood, or 13.71 minutes.
So with the estimate given by CNN's article, the number of people killed by Spanish colonization gives us a volume of blood that equals the average flow of the Connecticut river for roughly 14 minutes.
That is all an estimate, of course, and hardly considers the effect of English colonization. But it's a baseline. 14 minutes of blood river per 56 million dead, 14 more minutes per each additional 56 million. Higher estimates of the population of the western hemisphere have the death toll closer to 100 million, so that would be a bloody Connecticut river for nearly 28 minutes.
Hard to say for certain! We will never know precisely how much this hemisphere lost. You can’t be certain how many books were lost in a library fire if you never had an inventory, right?
But, as it stands, knowing what plagues have done to my hemisphere, and knowing that the current president of the United States deliberately hampered efforts to contain the current plague for the sake of electoral political gain, and knowing that the Spanish colonizers also deliberately hobbled efforts to contain disease, and that Spanish and English colonizers alike used disease as a tool of their near-total depopulation of this hemisphere --
I will fix my loyalty to my little valley and to my hemisphere, and tell any newcomers to check their eastern-hemisphere politics at the door because this half of the world has had quite enough of that, thank you.
And let Donald Trump not come near me, for I certainly do not wish to add any more blood to the river.

if you thought israeli settlers were uniquely evil in their openly genocidal rhetoric, the "four more years" shit really cements that the completely irrational frothing-at-the-mouth hatred of colonised people is a very universal settler phenomenon

liberals have no true interest in "the lesser of two evils" etc. if they did they'd throw themselves into the same extraparliamentary struggles communists have been involved in which, in the short term, win capitalist reforms that improve the living and working conditions of the working class and the oppressed. instead they just voooooot once every 5 years, because what they have is not an interest in a better world, but team loyalty to whichever electoral party they've latched onto. i mean the amerikkkan ones explicitly admit to it themselves: "vote blue no matter who"

The 2024 primary season begins with Donald Trump well ahead of his Republican opponents on key measures of popularity, while Joe Biden's job approval rating has dropped to a low for any president in the past 15 years, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll finds.
[...]
A Biden/Trump general election, if that's the outcome of the primary season, would represent a battle of markedly unpopular candidates. Among all adults, Biden's approval rating is just 33% in this poll, worse than Trump's low as president (36%) and the lowest since George W. Bush from 2006-2008. Fifty-eight percent disapprove of Biden's work.
Among groups, just 31% of women now approve of Biden's work in office, a new low (as do 34% of men). He won 57% of women in 2020.
He's at 28% approval among independents, a customary swing voter group; a low of 32% among moderates; and a low of 41% among college graduates, 10 points off his career average in that group.
Further, Biden's approval rating is 21 points below average among Black people and 15 points below average among Hispanic people, compared with 6 points among white people; more Black people, in particular, offer no opinion.
There's a striking difference among Black people by age in their views of Biden: He has an approval rating of 65% among Black people age 50 and up, dropping sharply to 32% among Black people younger than 50. Age gaps are not apparent among white or Hispanic people.
Trump's retrospective job rating is better than Biden's, but still not positive -- looking back, 41% approve of how he handled his presidency, a 7-point drop from four months ago. That includes a 13-point drop among men, with no meaningful change among women; and a 10-point drop among independents.
