Chap 12. Melancholy Natures, Queer Ecologies by Catriona Mortimer-Sandilands (part 3, final)
Queer Ecologies
‘what it might mean to inhabit the natural world having been transformed by the experience of its loss’?
‘[the queer artist's] natures are not saved wildernesses; they are wrecks, barrens, cutovers, nuclear power plants: unlikely refuges and impossible gardens. But they are also sites for extraordinary reflection on life, beauty, and community’ (344)
AIDS and Other Clear-Cuts
The artist (Jan Zita Grover’s North Enough) writes about moving from San Francisco, where she has worked as a personal caregiver to many individuals who were dying, and died of, AIDS, eventually to the woods of Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota hoping for ‘a geographic cure’ to her burnout and grief. (344)
‘in their persistence [grief, mourning], generate a form of imagination—an awareness of the persistence of loss—that allows her to conceive of the natural world around her in ways that challenge the logic of commodity substitution characterizing contemporary relations of nature consumption” (344)
“The north woods did not provide me with a geographic cure. But they did something much finer. Instead of ready-made solutions, they offered me an unanticipated challenge, a spiritual discipline: to appreciate them, I needed to learn how to see their scars, defacement, and artificiality and then beyond those to their strengths—their historicity, the difficult beauties that underlay their deformity.  AIDS, I believe, prepared me to perform these imaginative feats. In learning to know and love the north woods, not as they are fancied but as they are, I discovered the lessons that AIDS had taught me and became grateful for them” (344)
Rather than the landscape of her dreams, the land looks more like a candidate for reclamation. Through Grover’s research we learn that the region is one that been ‘systematically abused: logged several times, drained, subjected to failed attempts at agriculture, depleted, abandoned, eroded, invaded, neglected.”
Tumblr media
Jack pines are predominant in the region; tenacious, ‘the first conifers to reestablish themselves after a fire” (16), in their own way remarkable even as they are useless for lumber, short lived, and not at all the sorts of trees about which adjectives like ‘breathtaking’ circulate” (345) they are a loud testament to the violence that has generated them.
“the diminishment of this landscape mortified and disciplined me. Its scars will outlast me, bearing witness for decades beyond my death to the damage done here” (20) But still: the love emerges, painfully, gradually, intimately. (345)
She experiences the landscape in terms of loss and change, rather than idyll and replacement. It is all personal; it is all about developing a way of making meaning that recognizes the singularities of the past and takes responsibility for the future in the midst of intimate devastation. (345)
‘Environmental hubris’—fly fishing, the introduction of non-native fish to the river, changing temperatures of rivers caused by logging and diversion; specific policies, politics, and technologies that have had effects on the rivers, the fish, and the other species throughout the river and the north woods (356)
A refusal to demonize the ‘invasive’ species; Grover herself is ‘invasive’ both culturally and personally (white settlers and big city imports) thus her ethical claim is not for purity but for an active and thoughtful remembering of historical violences in the midst of ongoing necessity of movement and change (346)
Seek relationships with Clear-cuts and landfills in order to bring to the foreground the massive weight of human devastation of the natural world; “a discerning eye can see how unstewarded most of this land has been. The charm lies in finding ways to love with such loss and pull from it what beauties remain” (81) (347)
“she does not romanticize the dying even as she might mourn their loss to the world; instead [through Grover] we witness each loss as particular, irrevocable, and concrete: she is their witness” (347)
Can we learn to see these landscapes as creation as well as destruction?
Rather than mourn the loss of the pristine, she carefully cultivates an attitude of appreciation of what lies before her, beyond the aesthetic wilderness to the intricate details of human interactions with the species and landscapes of the region. In this manner she comes to be able to find the beauty in, for example, landfills and clearcuts; far from naivete or technophilia, this ability is grounded in a commitment to recognizing the simultaneity of death and life in these landscapes, the glut of aspen-loving birds in the clear-cut, the swallows, turkey vultures, and bald eagles near the landfill.
Tumblr media
--
It is necessary to face our fear and pain; we have to make room in our relationships with the natural world, queer and otherwise, for the recognition that that is what we might be feeling in the first place (355)

I arrive with a new CX-2 (and CX-1) possibility.
They're these guys who we see Crosshair grouped with in Confinement.
Tumblr media
Reasoning:
We see no other Clone Xs, ANYWHERE, during Confinement. At all. It's logical that there are some, but we don't see them. Then in Shadows of Tantiss, we see CX-1, watching Crosshair walk with a completely different group of clones. These two are NOT in the Shadows of Tantiss scene.
During Confinement Cross is always shown with these two specifically, both of whom have specific haircuts (and one a beard):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now let's look at CX-1:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a good match for the bearded guy if you remove the beard, which animation wise would be a pretty simple cutover.
If CX-2's helmet comes off and he's the other clone in this picture, he could have retained some of his distinctive haircut which is easy for us to recognize. Sure you have to go replay this episode but they're somewhat obviously banking on people doing that with all the Crossing callbacks in ep 7.
Added bonus, let's look at that walking pic again:
Tumblr media
The one without a beard sure is walking with shrimp posture...and he might even be a bit taller than the other one...
Anyways. I suspect CX-1 and -2 are these clones. (As much as I deeply want CX-2 to be Dogma.)

Payback Purgatory
Inspired by this ask here
Word Count: 871
Warnings: None
This is a SFW tickle fic, if you don’t like that then don’t read :)
Now, to all members of the jury, Tubbo would like to point out that he didn’t think much before he spoke. It was why he had so many ‘Tubbo Moments’ on stream and had a whole compilation of them all over the internet. So when a silly bit on stream was chugging straight for Regret Station? Yeah, he leapt onto that train with absolutely no regard for the consequences.
The silly bit in question, turned out to be taking the piss out of Ranboo and coming up with creative insults to make fun of the tall, faceless streamer. And surprisingly, it lasted a vast majority of the stream. Tubbo rode the euphoria high of the bit the entire time, laughing almost hysterically at his own genius and throwing all caution to the wind.
He really wished the wind turned direction and slapped his caution back into his face.
Ranboo had him tightly held to his chest, keeping him pinned against him as he prodded and scribbled into Tubbo’s skin mercilessly, speaking over the boy’s wild shrieks of laughter from the tickling.
“Gangly bastard? That ring a bell?” Ranboo thought out loud, face screwed up in faux concentration. “That seemed to be one of your favourites, chat loved it too, you were all omegalul-ling over it, weren’t you?”
Tubbo smacked at Ranboo’s fingers that kept rummaging into his hoodie to tickle his ribs and sides, squeaking with laughter at the playful attack. “R-RAHAhahahan! Rahahanbohohoo nohoHOHohoho!”
“What about the joke you made about me being the BFG reimagined?” Ranboo cutover Tubbo’s giggle filled protests. “What was it you said… Big Fucking Gay? Roald Dahl would be disappointed in you sir.”
Ranboo’s quips only made Tubbo laugh harder, almost doubling over if it wasn’t for the strong arms keeping him upright. He squirmed down into his friend’s chest, warm face trying to bury into his torturer's hoodie to hide. Ranboo was having none of it.
“Oi, no, keep your head outta there, face your consequences like a man.” Ranboo drilled into Tubbo’s hips mercilessly, the boy immediately throwing his head back into Ranboo’s shoulder with a squeal and kicking out frantically in ticklish mirth.
“RAHAHAHAN!” He shrieked, grabbing at the couch cushions with a slipping grip to bear the tingling sparks racing through his body.
“Sorry, who’s Ran? Did you mean Slenderman’s Cousin? Or maybe Jack’s beanstalk?” Ranboo raised a brow, only tickling Tubbo’s hips more. “Or maybe, you could be talking to a car sales balloon man? Ya know, the ones that move like this?”
Ranboo prodded and wiggled his fingers up and down Tubbo’s torso, waving his fingers in such a way they landed in different spots every time, leaving his poor, giggly victim to twist and squirm wildly in place.
“N-NOHohohOHOHO! P-Plehehease Rahahanbohohoo Ihihihim sohohorry!”
Ranboo scoffed, rolling his eyes and squeezed Tubbo’s sides quickly, relishing in the high pitched yelp. “Should’ve thought of that before you called me Huggy Wuggy, prick.”
He plopped his chin on Tubbo’s shoulder, his wild, fluffy hair tickling the teen’s cheek and jaw and sending Tubbo into a flurry of happy squeaks. He had to suppress a smile at the laughter.
Tubbo was melting into a puddle with the soft tickling close to his face and the fast scribbles over his sides and stomach, the nimble fingers taking him apart far faster than he liked. He scrunched his shoulders up in hopes that Ranboo would at least shift his head away from his neck, only to slam them back down with a squeal at a few well placed prods at his ribs.
“R-Rahahahan- cohohome ohohon- ihihit wahahas ahahahall ahaha bihihit,” he whined out, trying to use his puppy dog eyes on the taller teen to sway him, but Ranboo had lived with this chaotic maniac for months. He was no longer controlled by those seemingly innocent blues. He saw right through them.
“Right, and joking about how I’m the next Jack Skellington was all fine and dandy until I decided to strike back, hmm?”
Tubbo flinched as Ranboo’s breath tickled his ear, squirming away and giggling nervously. “Y-Yeheheah, Ihihi dihihidn’t mehehehean ihihit ahahahall.”
Ranboo paused his hands on Tubbo’s sides and the boy gratefully took in large breaths of air, leaning back into his friend a bit as he got his heart rate back under control. It was quiet for a moment then there was a suspicious, inquiring noise.
“Didn’t mean it all, but you meant some of it, did you?”
Ah. Fuck.
Tubbo paused, quickly trying to come up with a fast escape plan and gave Ranboo the most charming smile he could, though it looked more akin to a guilty cat that got caught doing something it shouldn’t.
“Uh… No?” he tried, his ‘charming smile’ widening into something more nervous and mirthful.
Ranboo deadpanned for a long moment, watching somewhat fondly as Tubbo broke into another fit of wild giggles despite the fact the taller teen hadn’t even touched him. He gave a sigh. “I’ll ask Tommy to speak at your funeral, man.”
“Wha- RAHAHAHAHAN!”
Tubbo’s laughter burst through the house again, Ranboo’s fingers spidering all over his sensitive skin and sending him into hysterics. It was going to be a long day.

Work is a goddamn disaster today.
Hours 1-2: Nobody can take calls other than me. I continue to get calls by people demanding to talk to someone and have to awkwardly explain that due to technical difficulties there were no investment counselors available, and promise them a call back in ?????? hours.
Hours 2-3: Tech finally gets in and tells me they made a cutover with the program everyone uses to take/make calls and that it it shouldn't affect reception. I sent a strongly worded email explaining how much it had actually affected reception and they asked me if I had made an IT ticket about it (for context, IT doesn't get IN until this time of day on Saturdays.) Needless to say I've been mad about this since.
Hours 3-4: Still a mess. Some people can accept calls, some can't, and one of our clients who calls very frequently has called in no less than 10 times and I was told to send him directly to voicemail--which results in him immediately calling back and there's no way to decline or hang up on a call.
Fucking unbelievable.

Readers with a keen eye and too much free time may have noticed the lack of dreamshit, and that is pretty closely correlated to being unmedicated for the brainweasels for *checks watch* nearly two months. This was unplanned, courtesy of the contract job cutover happening a week and a half before open enrollment, so we had to enroll, not have coverage, enroll again, and then wait for the low-competence processing of that enrollment to generate policy info (it's a fucking mail merge; it should not take *four goddamn weeks* to generate an ID card).
So, an abrupt ramp-down from some stuff that has warnings like "may cause suicidal thoughts" (which I didn't have), followed by swapping messages with my PCP about it so we could monitor the situation and see how things played out.
The tl;dr (too late) is that I have gone back on one of them earlier this week after surfing my annual July major depressive episode (which wasn't as bad as my unmedicated ones in the past, but was substantially yuckier than the medicated ones over the last couple of years), so the nocturnal nutfuckery is starting to ramp back up.
Which is fine; I enjoy the dreams, or at least enjoy examining what I remember.
Last night's centered around coffee and comrades; I made an impromptu trip to visit a buddy by flying into a small regional airport that doesn't exist, and when my visit had to be cut short for unclear reasons, I had to try to rebook when the gate agent told me one of the passengers who'd already boarded had put a bomb in the cargo hold.
Okay, I will instead deal with the 1970's cop show vintage service desk, manned by John Hamm as a guy named Steve and his cohorts, one of whom fistbumped me for being from Buffalo when they said the best option was to re-route me via an indirect route somewhere it gets cold (which... I am going to be in the airport or staying on the plane, I'm not sure what my weather tolerance has to do with anything, man, but thanks?).
(cat noise interlude)
Okay, hanging out in a big hotel lobby with friends I can't visit because, uh... let's see, you're dead, you're dead, and you're dead.... and telling me that how i drink my coffee is why i've put on weight? That's harsh, lady.
So I ended up in a Barnes & Noble that was hosting a group of French ladies in the front, and had a back-room gathering of a different clot of goths, some of whom were in full tactical kit (I was in my weighted workout vest, which was not precisely useful) and had left my real life coffee cup (the new white one with the washi -style cat applique) by the coffeemaker out front, which I then had to go find because the coffee was ready. At least none of the French ladies gave me shit about how I pronounced "bonjour," even though I don't know how well I say it.
Then Hardison decided it was nose-licking time and woke me up for good.

LIRR Herricks Road, View E, M3 EB, April 12, 1998
"HERRICKS ROAD CROSSING"
View east at the temporary Herricks Road crossing as the gates are down as an eastbound M3 train crosses Herricks Road.
This photo was taken of the once notorious grade crossing at Herricks Road, one week before the cutover of the grade crossing elimination. The new LIRR overpass has been completed along with track and signals. In a week the temporary grade crossing will be eliminated and trains will run over the new structure, eliminating this heavily trafficked highway/rail crossing. On March 15, 1982 a van with 10 teenagers returning to their homes, after a night of partying, drove around the already down crossing gates and were hit by an oncoming LIRR train. Only one survived.
This was always a particularly dangerous crossing as LIRR trains operated at maximum speed (79mph for electric trains/64mph for diesel hauled trains), and vehicle traffic was also very heavy, with two lanes of traffic in each direction. In addition the track level was higher than the highway and site distances very poor for vehicle drivers. Even without the events of March 15th, the grade crossing was one that needed to be eliminated.

SAP Business One Implementation Project Realization
Tumblr media
SAP Business One Implementation Process has a key stage called Project Realization which is the third step in the complete implementation. For SAP Business One to be tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) to fit into an organization’s expectations, it must go through this configuration and customization process as per the business blueprint.
The challenges of implementation activities completely lie at the heart of Project Realization:
Configuration of Customer Database: Based on a thorough business blueprint, this is followed by installation and configuration of production systems. This also includes importing legacy master data that will populate the system.
Transport of Legacy Master Data: Legacy master data, vital for consistency purpose, is smoothly transplanted into the new SAP Business One system ensuring the integrity and continuity of data.
Validation & Thorough Testing: This is done through iterative testing cycles commonly known as “unit testing” whereby validation of configured system is performed in partnership with the customer. Consequently, more extensive end-to-end business processes are tested to ensure that it works seamlessly and integrates with external systems.
Planning for Training and Cutover: As configuration and testing of production proceeds, detailed planning for training of end-users and cutover is carried out. A well-drafted training plan will make sure that by the implementation date, end users will be able to use the new system efficiently. On the other hand, an elaborate cutover plan assures a smooth transformation from old to SAP Business One.
Milestones within the Project Realization stage include:
Installation and Configuration of Production System
Validation of Configured System
System and Integration Testing
Project Planning for Go-Live
Completion Checkpoint
Key Milestones in the project realization stage:
Firstly, the system’s production installation as well as its set up stage are carried out with the utmost care. In addition, these also entail an effortless transfer of legacy master data.
Secondly, the configured system undergoes rigorous validation by the customer. This validation process entails iterative testing cycles where the customer examines each configuration change, akin to conducting “unit testing.”
The third milestone encompasses broader testing requirements following the validation of individual processes. Following this is system and integration testing which involves comprehensive evaluations of end-to-end business processes including their integration with other internal processes and external systems.
Fourthly, project planning takes precedence. Once this phase is finalized, a thorough examination on issues such as readiness for acceptance test and user training among others will be undertaken. While the production system is being fine-tuned and tested, efforts by the project manager are directed towards laying down plans for a go-live period that seems to be imminent to avoid delaying deployment dates. One of them includes detailed training plans for end-users while another one refers to a comprehensive cutover plan, both of which play an important role in ensuring the successful running of any project.
Finally, one of the most important aspects is a checkpoint. When the sign-off is made in this step, it shows that the client has accepted and is ready for the system to move into subsequent phases.
At each stage, customers’ endorsement of these markers indicates their acceptance of new functionalities and readiness to go on to the next stages.
During the Project Realization phase, proper project management and communication are essential. To achieve this goal, there exists a dedicated project team consisting of internal stakeholders as well as external SAP partners or consultants who have expertise in SAP Business One and have previously dealt with such implementation projects hence ensuring smooth execution of tasks aligned with project objectives.

Unlocking Seamless HR Processes: SAP SuccessFactors Integration with SAP S/4HANA
In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, streamlined HR processes can provide a significant competitive edge. SAP SuccessFactors and SAP S/4HANA are two powerful solutions that can transform organizations’ human capital management. By integrating these systems, businesses can achieve greater efficiency, data consistency, and a more cohesive HR technology landscape.
Understanding the Benefits
Integrating SAP SuccessFactors with SAP S/4HANA delivers numerous advantages, including:
Centralized HR Master Data: A single source of truth for employee data, ensuring real-time updates and data accuracy across systems.
Streamlined HR Processes: Automate tasks across the employee lifecycle, such as onboarding, offboarding, payroll, and benefits administration.
Improved Compliance: Automate and maintain adherence to HR regulations and reporting requirements.
Enhanced Analytics and Reporting: Access consolidated HR data for strategic decision-making and workforce insights, supporting talent management and succession planning.
Optimized User Experience: Create a seamless experience for employees and HR professionals through a unified interface.
Types of Integration
When deciding to integrate these two robust systems, you can choose from different approaches, each with its benefits:
Side-by-Side Deployment: SuccessFactors serves as the record system for core HR processes with selective data replication to S/4HANA, often for payroll and finance-related functions.
Core Hybrid Deployment: Core HR master data resides in S/4HANA, with more comprehensive talent processes (e.g., recruitment, performance, compensation) handled in SuccessFactors. Data is seamlessly exchanged between the systems.
Integration Methods
Multiple methods exist to facilitate the integration between SuccessFactors and S/4HANA:
SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI): SAP’s recommended middleware solution provides pre-built integration flows for various HR processes.
Point-to-Point Integration: Direct integration between the systems using APIs or other middleware solutions.
Packaged Integration Content: SAP offers pre-built integration scenarios to reduce implementation time and complexity.
Critical Considerations for Successful Integration
To ensure a seamless integration journey, keep these factors in mind:
Clear Integration Strategy: Define goals, scope, and the type of integration that best suits your organization’s needs.
Data Mapping: Meticulously map data fields between the systems to ensure accurate data transfer.
Data Governance: Establish data quality standards, ownership, and maintenance procedures.
Change Management: Communicate the benefits of integration to stakeholders and provide training for a smooth transition.
Testing and Monitoring: Thoroughly test integrations and implement a plan for ongoing monitoring and issue resolution.
The Path to Successful Integration
Successful SAP SuccessFactors integration with SAP S/4HANA requires careful planning and execution. Here’s a basic outline of the steps involved:
Assessment and Planning: Define business needs, identify integration processes, and choose the best approach and method.
Technical Configuration: Configure integration flows in the chosen middleware, develop custom integrations if needed, and set up data mapping.
Testing: Rigorously test integration scenarios both functionally and from a performance standpoint.
Deployment: Go live with the integration, ensuring a smooth cutover plan.
Monitoring and Support: Establish processes to monitor integration performance, handle issues, and provide ongoing maintenance.
Embrace the Future of HR with Integrated Solutions
By integrating SAP SuccessFactors and SAP S/4HANA, organizations can elevate their HR operations to the next level. This combination of leading solutions promises greater efficiency, improved decision-making, and a superior employee experience.
