Controversial Mexican opinion: I personally do not understand the hype with birria be it tacos, burritos, whatever edible container or shaped dishes they keep making with it lol it's good it's just not something I personally go for when I DO have tacos. I do note however, that's it's like mostly non Mexican people who have recently discovered the flavor bomb that it is who have really popularized it online and understandably Mexicans love any excuse to get hype so we love and appreciate the attention our food gets

My family hasn't really been one to eat like well known staples like tacos, burritos, quesadillas, etc on a frequent basis. We've definitely leaned towards cooking very common traditional every day food that I dont think gets talked about much like guisados, beans outside of refried beans, lots of squash and corn dishes, chilie based dishes where it serves as a sauce that's not mole, I could go on. And that's why a lot of like popular Mexican food doesnt really resonate with me.
We tend to treat tacos and burritos as like a treat, like one of those "its Sunday" lunches. OR my mom and I make deep fried tacos with potato and ground beef, beans, or turkey as a "lazy meal" or we make burritos with any left over meat and add mushrooms when we need to make something quick and convenient. And tortas are like a huge deal in my house cause my mom only makes them to celebrate stuff. But again they never lean towards being heavy stuff you get from mexican restaurants which honestly lean a bit towards tex mex here in the states to be more palatable.
The only like popular staple we absolutely eat frequently is grilled corn. And that's cause my dads from an agricultural part of Mexico that LOVES their corn lol everytime its corn season my dad is grilling corn every weekend and we do not ever get tired of it. And because of that regional thing we also have a huge thing for eating peanuts (toasted or boiled) and carrots too cause that's the 3 main crops in my dad's town.
