movie tag
my favorite movies, as tagged by @yoo-kiki (top 10) and @crimsoncauldron (top 9) !! the problem is that i don't have favorites, so here are some that first come to mind in no particular order:
movies (L to R, T to B):
WOLF CHILDREN (2012) - one of my favorites fr. i think i've watched it six times now, always trying to get more people to watch with me. i cry every time
EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE (2022) - my friends saw this first and gave raving reviews. i finally got the chance to watch it in theaters in vietnam, and god. it hit so hard. i was crying so much, but the viet people around me were chilling?? the girl in front of me was even online shopping lmfao i related a lot to the story
PROMARE (2019) - i hate spending money, but i actually saw this in theaters twice. i love sawano hiroyuki's work; it literally never misses for me. stunning animation. holds a special place in my heart.
BARBIE'S PRINCESS AND THE PAUPER (2004) - HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I WATCHED THIS...i love almost all of the barbie movies, but this one, i loved so much. literally will sing the soundtrack at karaoke to this day
AND SO THE BATON IS PASSED (2021) - i had a 30 hr flight home and only watched movies that made me cry, it seems like. out of all of them, this one was my favorite. the pacing, the acting, the story, the everything...i'm gonna make people join me when i rewatch it. maybe i just have a thing for movies that make me cry LOL
ARRIVAL (2016) - this was the first and last movie i saw with my ex when we were dating lmfao anyway, i love linguistics and language so much, and the details in this film are stunning. like the soundtrack being songs forwards and backwards?? the detail with the title and the sponsors?? GOD.
NEO YOKIO PINK CHRISTMAS (2018) - for some reason, my boyfriend and i are enamored by the clown show that is neo yokio and its christmas special. it's so dumb??? but also weirdly sophisticated?? two of my friends also watched with us, and we think of the series + movie fondly. i wonder what my classically trained boyfriend's social circle would think of it.
BELLE (2021) - i cried. yeah. you see a pattern here. loved the animation, loved the soundtrack, ahhh. i also realized that whenever i like a movie, i make my boyfriend and a very specific friend watch with me haha. i went to see this in theaters with that friend, another friend, and my ex (we reconnected in 2020!! 2016-2017 followers might remember him,,,)
ZOOTOPIA (2016) - i LOVED this film and i'm not sure why?? was it because i was going through an ichiruki phase back then?? i saw a lot of crossover fanart. anyway, i love the righteous sunshine & bitter con (enemies to accomplices to friends to more??) dynamic. might be why i love tangled, too.

i think the movie is just me and hoshi crying cause we can't sleep so we turn on a noise playlist to try and drown out the sounds our thoughts and each other's sobbing. it's very esoteric. its called 'no tiger no cry'
