Leave time, curiosity and space for the random encounters and beautiful situations the Universe will give you if you are open to accepting them I only planned to spend 4 days on the island of Crete, but ended up spending 2 weeks here. Honestly I felt like I could’ve spent a few months here. And it all birthed from two different groups of riders who so so kindly adopted me. The first informed me about Crete’s biggest ride of the year called GasPie. Of course I had to stay a few more days to experience this. At this ride, I got lost from this first group of friends and got adopted by another group of riders. What?? How does this happen to me so often? Do I look disheveled or do we feel each other’s energy and wavelengths? Whatever it is, I’m always going to accept these seemingly random encounters. The love and care I experience from these moments feel like home. The lesson here? One does not need to be traveling to experience this. Don’t plan every second of your life. Leave space for the randomness you sometimes say no to. Crète 2022 🇬🇷 Nos premières vacances en famille avec bébé, mon frère et ma nièce. Nous sommes partis 3 semaines et avons logés à 3 endroits différents pour mieux rayonner (du côté de Agios Nikolaos, à La Canée et près d'Héraklion les derniers jours. . Nos coups de cœur de ce voyage : La Canée (vraiment très joli), le lagon de Balos, la cuisine crétoise, Agios Nikolaos, l'accueil +++ des crétois et leur rythme de vie . Les moins : trop chaud au mois d'août, trop de monde sur certaines plages, l'accès difficile à certains sites avec un bébé. On a pas du tout aimé Chersónissos près d'Héraklion (trop de touristes, ambiance trop fetarde à notre goût) . Οι αρχαιότερες γνωστές πατημασιές προγόνων του ανθρώπου, οι οποίες είχαν αρχικά ανακαλυφθεί στην Κρήτη το 2002, έχουν ηλικία 6,05 εκατομμυρίων ετών, είναι δηλαδή περίπου 0,35 εκατομμύρια χρόνια παλαιότερες από ό,τι είχε εκτιμηθεί αρχικά, σύμφωνα με μια νέα διεθνή επιστημονική έρευνα με ελληνική συμμετοχή. Τα απολιθωμένα ίχνη όρθιας βάδισης ανακαλύφθηκαν στην ακτή στο χωριό Τράχηλος, κοντά στο Καστέλι Κισσάμου της δυτικής Κρήτης.

Hello from the Greek island of Crete! This is the first ferry Athena and I rode a ferry! We went from Gytheio to Kissamos on Crete! And I’m going to be real with y’all. I was miserable and this voyage put me out. I got nauseous and had to lie horizontal for 7 hours. I tried to nap, but woke up sweating because my body DID NOT like the rocking. I was on one of those huge ferries too. I was worried Athena was going to tip over and I expressed this to the folks manning the parking situation below and they kindly ratchet strapped her to the wall for me. This expedition is putting me in situations I’ve never been in and testing my physical limitations. Now I know my body doesn’t like long ferry rides. But this was worth it to me. I couldn’t visit Greece without visiting a Greek island, so this was worth the pain. And I surely wasn’t going to leave Athena behind! 😹 No pain, no glory. Happy Monday y’all!
