You’ve made a grave mistake because I have so much to say and some art as well(becuase I’m so sane for them I swear)

So I’ve always headcannon that Katniss had her first baby in her late twenties-early thirties. In my head the 5, 10, 15 years go like this. Year 5: Katniss is open to the idea of children now. The games are done, but is Panem really safe yet? Is she ready yet. No, not really. Year 10: okay, Katniss feels safer and braver now. If it happens it happens. They won’t actively try for it and will let nature take its course. Year 15: Toast boy and girl are born within a 5-ish year time span.

Katniss names the girl Marigold for the golden flowers that Peeta planted next Katniss’ Primroses. Marigolds represent warmth, creativity, joy and good luck, but they were also given away during times of grief as a gesture of kindness and solidarity as the flower’s vibrant colours helped ease the pain of grief. Gold is also the colour that represents the bond between the district 12 team that comprised of Peeta, Katniss, Effie, Haymitch, Portia & Cinna. So it’s also carries some sentimental weight as without them and their bonds, this little girl wouldn’t have been born. Of course, Peeta calls the girl Muffin. Because she’s his little muffin. His little cupcake. It’s not until Effie decides that Mary is too bland a nickname for her favorite niece that we get the girl’s most used nickname- Muffy.

Muffy is a bundle of joy to their lives. And Katniss loves being a mother more than she’d thought. Having Muffy made Katniss yearn for the mini Peeta she dreamt of on a beach in the QQ.

Toastboy pops out about three and a half years later. The age gap is so close to be about the same as Katniss and Prim’s that it makes her heart squeeze again. His name is Cress, after Watercress (wait plz don’t leave), the aquatic plant that can be found in bunches at Katniss’ special lake. They are a highly nutritious plant to eat and is said to believe to have medicinal uses like treating swelling and fevers. The name is also a small nod to Annie Cresta and Finnick because of the water connection. His curly blonde hair gets him the nickname Goldilocks from Johanna.

Both children are highly artistic and connected to nature, Katniss teaches them both to hunt, but the kiddos don’t like it as much because they don’t like to hurt animals. It hurts Katniss a little bit, but she’s glad that bloodshed and violence (even to survive) aren’t a daily part of their lives.

Muffy is a performer. She’s definitely daddy’s little girl because she loves to yap. She could yap all day and still find something to talk about. She grows up loving to dance and then wanting to sing and dance- the dreams of making it big in the Capitol as a actress. (To Katniss’ complete and under horror) She’ll definitely develope some complex when it comes to being the Mockingjay’s daughter. Especially when she starts getting movie offers to play her Mom, even when after she tries going out of her way to distance herself from Katniss by going under a different stage name.

Cress is very much not Muffy. He’s a quiet little guy who follows after his big sister like a little duckling. He’s the only one who doesn’t get tired of her yapping and genuinely listens to her. Peeta and Katniss were a little worried when they started noticing that he wasn’t speaking for a while. They go to doctors and they can never find what’s causing this speech delay, but one day he starts talking at the age of 2, and he has the softest most sweetest voice in the world. He’s a very quiet and observant kid, that gets into more trouble than you’d think. While Peeta’s art is very imagery and emotionally (and politically) focused, Cress’s art is not. He’s super talented with a pencil and really skilled at realistic/technical drawings that he’d probably go an illustrate diagrams for scientific textbooks on nature and stuff. Growing up, he probably feels like his art work is too cold and unfeeling compared to Peeta’s splash of life. But in reality, the difference between they art styles are indicative of how they see and filter the world through their art.

Anyway, this is taking waaay to long so here is some early concept art of the toast babies. I’m still messing around with the tones and hues of their design, so none of this is final. I’m probs gonna switch Cress’s skin tone to a more golden undertone as opposed to Katniss’s reddish one to match his hair color, which might get a tad darker (or lighter tbh. In the books Peeta’s an ashy blonde) Meanwhile maybe I’ll give Muffy the redder undertone? There’s something off bout her that I need to keep experimenting with. She screams Movie Katniss baby, not Book Katniss Baby, but maybe that’s only because Jen has blue eyes.

Finally got the go-ahead to post about this… so, with the growing visibility of hybrids in the public eye, I was offered the opportunity to interview with RIME Magazine! (Capitalizing the name properly was part of the deal.)

I’ll be pasting the text of the article below for anyone without a subscription (to be fair, it’s also posted online, and I have permission), but before that… I also got a cover photoshoot! I wound up touching up my ears with my illusions… and some of the burn scars… but I’m quite happy with how it turned out, still. Wolfy couldn’t make it, so I took the photo with Chiru that day! Anyways, hope you enjoy. :)

But without further ado, the interview!

RIME Magazine sat down for an interview with Vanilla Cress, a Hisuian Zorua hybrid, human and Pokémon psychologist, Champion-class trainer in Paldea, Galar Champion Cup semifinalist, and hybrid model and activist, in early February. Topics discussed varied widely, from Cress's own experience growing up as a human-Pokémon hybrid, understanding Pokémon, Cress's recent modeling and activism, and future plans. What follows is a condensed and edited transcript of the interview.

That's quite the list of accolades you've accumulated along the way. What do you think has led you to achieve so highly?

Well, for one, I think you're giving a lot of this more credit than it's worth, [laughs]. I'm not sure being pulled off of the street because I look like a walking ice-cream cone is much of an accomplishment, personally. Nor do I do much activism apart from this interview now, apparently.

I think I understand the answer you're going for here, though. I would say that my hybridity's a large part of what brought me as far as I've come. Not only in having the gift to talk to our partners in life--which is an incredible gift--but in that there's this drive to prove myself. Or maybe to redeem myself. I'm not really sure which, personally. Doing things has just filled all of the gaps in my life, until now.

Right, and you only publicly "came out" as a hybrid less than a year ago.

Yes, less than a year ago! It's been a huge adjustment, but I have so much more energy these days, not having to worry about being discovered by hitting something with my tail, [laughs].

While my experience hasn't been entirely positive after "coming out" myself, and I realize that even being able to hide is a privilege many hybrids simply don't have, I will say that generally speaking, the public response has been overwhelmingly positive. Say, for every enemy I've made, I've made ten more friends in their place. And from so many different walks of life, too!

You say your experience wasn't entirely positive. Could you elaborate some on your negative experiences as a hybrid?

Well, if I have to. Which I suppose I don't, but it seems rude not to. There are, of course, people out there who view you as subhuman, when you look like me. Or in maybe a less extreme sense, people who have a tendency to see all of the fluff and decide "Oh, this person--I should talk to this person like they're a child." But those are really quite few and far between, at least in my case. I'm more likely to scare people, with the teeth and the claws. [They make a pose showing both off.]

My main negative experience, though, was something more personal and targeted.

Yes, there was the news earlier last year about the Dreamyard Laboratory...

"Earlier last year" doesn't feel right, somehow. I won't go much into detail, but yes, I was taken against my will for the purpose of illegal research on human-Pokémon hybrid power, by Colress Achroma. It was only due to the efforts of my dear friends that I'm here now. I cannot express my gratitude to them enough, if any of you are reading!

Thank you for sharing. To turn back the clock a bit, what was your childhood like, being half-Zorua?

Well, for most of that time, it was like paradise! When I was a young child, we were quite isolated, so I never got the sense that my life was "off" or "strange". I thought for the longest time it was normal to have a family like mine. My older sibling, Wolfgang, a Zorua then--we were just "W" and "V" at the time--he and I would just run wild and play in Lostlorn Forest for hours while the rest of the pack hunted. And then they'd come back, and they'd start in on whatever they'd caught, and my mother would swoop back in to make me something completely different. And teach me the alphabet. [Laughs]

Was there a time, when that facade cracked?

Oh, there was this time, right when I had gotten used to using my illusions, that my mother brought me to the grocery store with her. And that's when I learned a lot of facts about the world very quickly. And then I had to learn those facts all over again, a few years later, when I rejoined the human world with my adopted family. Everything had to be hidden after that, or else. It was dangerous, not knowing what sort of person you'd meet, or who'd want to hurt you just for existing.

You say you were also adopted?

Right. There was... a forest fire, at one point. Intentional. And I lost everyone dear to me but Wolfgang. And I became the sort of Zorua you see here now [a Hisuian Zorua]. And after a few years of... homelessness and what not, I was taken in by the Cresses. It was a chance encounter. And it was a major culture shock! Going from streets to high society parties. It was thanks to them, though, that I managed to find something to do with my life and graduated from Naranja-Uva.

And in between that, the Galar gym challenge...

[Laughs] I'm sure you have a clip of that somewhere. I'd rather not talk about it, that was... a strange period of teenagerhood for me.

How do you feel about your childhood, on reflection?

That's tough. That's something I believe I'm still working out, myself. It was positive moment-to-moment, but considering what I know, now, I would say... to some degree, I resent it. It's hard not to resent being born in a position where it feels like, for so long, nobody understands you. I wouldn't trade Wolfgang for anyone else, but otherwise, I do wish, sometimes, I was "just" a human.

I can imagine. At the same time, talking to Pokémon is quite the advantage, right? What is it like?

Depends on the Pokémon! Some of us are more talkative than others, and of course, there's a range in how sophisticated Pokémon communication is too.

The difference is something like... imagine two Pokémon asking for pizza. In my experience, a Solosis would usually just beam the word "PIZZA" right into your mind. A Sewaddle might be coherent enough to say "Pizza, please". And a Zoroark... probably something along the lines of "give me the damn pizza already," [laughs].

So sometimes you can get a lot across by understanding Pokémon, but that doesn't mean they're all speaking in the same way as humans still. Understanding those individual differences goes a long way in my line of work, too. It's a bit easier than reading behavior, anyways!

As a Pokémon psychologist, what's one thing you think more people should understand about their Pokémon?

More than anything... it sounds cliche, but most Pokémon truly view humans as their partners, just as we do them. As much scientific proof as has gone into the question of proving that Pokémon love us as much as we love them, in my experience... that's absolutely true.

At the same time, even as partners, Pokémon think quite differently from humans in their daily life. I think in order to create the most balanced world possible, where both can coexist, it's key to consider the Pokémon's perspective more too.

What's one thing you'd like to impart about hybrids to people who don't know much about them?

Every hybrid's experience is different, firstly! Some, like me, are born, but others are created through science or magic we still don't know about. Some may look almost identical to humans, and some may have appearances considered frightening or unusual. Some of us have long-standing health problems. Some of us can use moves, or speak in Pokémon language, or access abilities, whereas others may be more limited. There's no one experience that I can really label as "the hybrid experience".

There are people who might think we're dangerous. Or inhuman. But whether you consider us 'human' or not... like any living being, we still deserve respect and a voice. Maybe that's obvious, but I think it still rings true.

Finally, what are your plans from here?

I'm hoping to finish my Unova League challenge together with my traveling partner! I certainly don't intend to become the Champion, but if I can say I challenged every member of the Elite 4, I'd be happy.

From there... well, there are a few things I'd like to resolve otherwise, but I think I'll return to my day job as a therapist, and hopefully, my own personal sword training. I'd also like to spend more time with my friends, my traveling partner, and my family in Lostlorn! My brother, Wolfgang has four incredible kits, and they're the absolute most adorable--

The Striaton Triplets a don't have much depth, as with many of the league members.

Sure they get more in the anime, but that can be said about literally any character.

Woooooh boy the straiton triplets are obscure alright. I haven't really thought of them much tbh, and when I have, I haven't been able to get many headcanons of my own. But hey, that's what these asks are for, eh? Let's see....

Starting with Cilan, let's get the obvious out of the way. The anime made him a submas twins fanboy, so I'm making him a submas twins fanboy lmao. Moreso due to his interest in trains. Speaking of interests I also feel like he has an interest in botany. I know I know, grass type leader, good with plants, it's cliche yes. But it's more so he can grow his own herbs for meals! It's a group effort between him and his brothers, but off the three, Cilan definitely has the green thumb. I imagine he's also a really good singer, and he likes singing when he's attending the plants. That being said he is painfully shy about it, despite his brothers encouragement. I think Cilan, just from his memory link with his brothers, is the more....non combatant of the three? Both in his shy nature compared to his brothers, but also like. He's more accepting of a certain rhythm or expectation,and doesn't really try to change that? At least to me. Post BW has certainly changed that for him, but it's still a flaw I think. He accepts things how they are even when they aren't great. And it's not entirely his fault, I just think he doesn't always see The Problem, you know?

Chili, ngl, give me younger brother energy. Or maybe middle child energy? No clue lmao. I think, of the three, he's the most interested in battling. He likes the energy of it! Of the three, Chili is arguably the best cook, and has a pretty diverse palette. Sweet, savory, spicy, you name it, he got it! Unlike Cilan, can't sing for shit. Got amazing dance moves though ( a great tap dancer). He....is very bad at ignoring rumors. It doesn't help that Cress is a sucker for them. He's even worse at not taking them to heart sometimes. Sometimes it's justified ( look at the memory link) but sometimes he gets ticked off if someone says anything bad about him or his brothers. He's not good at letting things go ( though, at the same time, he would often forget what he was upset about unless what's being said was really bugging him). Chili is the one that wants to be seen as his own individual with his own strength the most. Cilan is too complacent in his eyes, and Cress....well Cress understands but also thinks Chili's overthinking it ( which, to an extent, he is).

Cress! The trio's main gossiper! I don't know where I got this idea from but it's funny thinking how easily Chili falls for whatever shit Cress talks about. 99% of the time it's fake, but he's not telling Chili that. Cilan can sing, Chili can dance, and Cress can play a mean piano. He also can make a stellar latte. Not in combatant like Cilan, but not as eager for a fight like Chili. He likes battling, naturally, but it's like. " Okay, well I like this enough, sure". I think he's also, somehow, the one who's the most organized of the three? He's the one that makes sure the other two are on track with work in my eyes ( again, that memory link changed how I see these three). It's usually him and Chili butting heads but when there's a moue serious conversation in which Chili and Cilan aren't exactly seeing eye to eye, he's usually the one listening to both sides, and making sure everyone remains level headed ( mostly Chili, but you get it).

Now. These three, in my eyes, are teens. Who are they're parents? Where are they? Never said. It's not unusual for kids in the pokemon world to be doing this type of stuff, but you still gotta wonder about it. So I propose this: The restaurant that is their gym was just a restaurant before. It became a gym after the three became gym leaders ( why three gym leaders? Because alder thought it would be funny. Plus he didn't have the heart to pit the boys against each other). Said restaurant was and still is owned by their parents, they've just taken a back seat due to the gym leader thing. Once the boys retire, the restaurant comes in full swing! And....yeah that's all I got.

Hopefully this was an interesting read! I wasn't expecting to have Thoughts about these three but here we are. I have Thoughts about the three monkeys at what they mean for the triplets but that's for another time. And yeah! Thank you for the ask!

how do you think tlc couples react to seeing their SO with kids? just in general do you think they'd be good with children? Jacin after learning to let his gaurd down a bit would probably be good w kids

Cinder doesn't mind kids but she's not very confident in knowing how to speak to them. Kai, having been raised to talk to anyone is comfortable with kids and finds it endearing to see Cinder struggle. She does improve over time, but it isn't until she has her own that she learns that kids just need to be treated like a person and you'll figure out the rest as you go. She worries about her ability to be a mother as she had no good examples in her life, so her heart warms when she sees Kai so adept at interacting with kids. It assures her that he'll be there to help her when they have their own.

Cress and Thorne like kids, and kids like them, but they also don't really know what to do with them. Whenever they babysit for their friends and the baby starts crying, they both stare at each other like 'what did we do wrong??' So if they watch each other totally fumble a conversation with a kid, they'll try to help, usually unsuccessfully. Peony teaches them a lot about what a kid actually needs, because if they do something wrong, she'll tell them loud and clear.

Wolf is cautious of children because they are cautious of his big teeth and clawed nails. He doesn't want to scare them. One day he notices some little heads peeking over the fence as he's feeding the chickens. As soon as he looks their way, they duck out of sight. This happens again the next day, and the next, and eventually Wolf works up the courage to go over and ask the three boys if they want to help him. The children quiver with fear, slowly backing away from the big bad wolf. After five seconds, they run. Dejected, Wolf tells Scarlet of his failed attempt. She reassures him that they just need to get to know him. How can they get to know him if they won't get near him? The following day, Wolf is about to feed the chickens when his hears three sets of footsteps scraping up the driveway. Startled, he leaves the chicken feed bucket by the pen and hides. Inside the chicken coop. The boys survey their surroundings--checking for any stray wolves--and head over, tossing the feed to the chicks. "Did they lay any eggs?" wonders one of the boys, who peers into the coop and finds two bright green eyes cloaked in the darkness. The boys scream. "Wait!" Wolf calls as the first one swings the bucket frantically as a weapon. He rushes to get out, banging his head on the awning, causing him to trip on the chicken ramp and splat face first on the ground. Everyone is silent. Even the chickens seem to follow the memo. But, one after the other, the boys start laughing, the chickens cluck along, and Wolf begins to laugh too. Big scary neighbour wolf-man is not actually scary, the boys find, and Scarlet loves to see him so warm and open. Wolf enjoys seeing her telling the kiddos off for treading on her petunias with no doubt in his mind that she will be as loving as his mother had been to him.

Jacin is wary of children at first. But he has to learn to be nice to children in his job, and after a while, it does really rub off on him. Kids can be loud and annoying but also hilarious. Kids are incredibly blunt, and he is too, so he finds he doesn't mind their company. But he has a distance from his patients. When his friends have kids however...Jacin loves them. Kaider's child is technically his relative and so he takes the Uncle designation very seriously. Also being kaider's child means they are very sassy. Sure, he can insult someone, but it hurts way more coming from a kid, and he finds Peony's roasts hilarious. He teaches them facts about the human body and they have the skeletal and muscular system memorised by age 6. And when they're babies, it's a challenge for Kai and Cinder to get their own child back if Jacin is holding them. It warms Winter's heart so much because it reminds her of a younger, carefree Jacin and proves he's still in there underneath the gruffness. Winter is naturally perfect with children as she is with everything, and seeing her with them stirs Jacin's conscience. He's so in the habit of reprimanding himself for dreaming of a future with Winter that it takes a long time for him to embrace it as feasible. However Winter stills struggles mentally, and as perfect as she is with children when she's well, he knows that she will too fragile for a long time for them to commit to having their own. It takes many, many years before he feels that wariness slough away until it eventually doesn't cross his mind at all.

Linh Cinder is epileptic because I say so and because you dont have your brain completely switch off due to water damage and then repaired just like that without some form of lasting damage (not to mention the various other times she had to be jump started again throughout the series mainly by Thorne).

Anyway so Cinder has epilepsy and its generalized epilepsy meaning she has no auras, just random seizures whenever her wiring and neurons are being all funky. She discovers it after experiencing absence seizures on Luna and wonders if its just her processor working over time with all the responsibilities now being heaped on her as Queen. The first month after abdicating once she's back in New Beijing she blacks out and then wakes up two hours later to a splitting headache, half the Rampion crew around her and the remaining half on their way. Her cybernetics specialist and a neurologist are there with her too when she discovers she has been diagnosed with epilepsy.

Cinder's seisures aren't frequent but she occasionally forgets to take her meds and she occasionally just hates how they make her feel. Kai is the one who always sits with her and every time she wakes up from a seizure he's sitting right next to her, without fail. He'll be doing paperwork sitting in bed but he won't leave her side and his hand is comforting on her shoulder or head so when she wakes up she knows she's safe.

Her temples hurt because they do anyway post-seizures in epilepsy but her facial muscles stretch out and clash with the metal in her skull too so they hurt a little too much and her jaw is sensitive for weeks and so either Kai or Winter (if she's available) massage her forehead and temples for her to ease the muscles and reduce extra swelling. Its soothing for Cinder who's never been touched so lovingly while she's sick before.

Its very frustrating for Cinder knowing that despite all her modifications to "fix" the disabilities caused by the burns Levana gave her, the one thing that can never be "fixed" is her brain. No amount of wiring can replace whatever issue is in her neural circuitry so it's a condition she has to live with and take medicine for. Frustration aside though, she has friends and is grateful she found a family who will take care of her if she ever happens to convulse because Adri would have done so much worse to her had Cinder discovered she was epileptic under that heinous woman's roof.

Cress is the one who understands Cinder's highs and lows when it comes to her anti-epileptics the best because she has experience with anxiety and depression. Scarlet understands the frustration and mood swings the drugs cause and tries to call Cinder every time she hears from Kai that her medicine is making her irritable. Meanwhile, Winter understands the pain of a brain that just "isn't right" and the struggle that comes with accepting the fact that something is wrong at all. She is the one who is best able to help Cinder accept the help she needs.

Wolf and Cinder sometimes just sit in silence together and it helps that they both understand what its like to have a part of you that's not bad or even wrong but just... different in a way that can be a struggle sometimes. It helps to have someone to talk to who they don't need to explain the frustration to.

Thorne tries, bless his soul, to cheer Cinder up. He takes her crown shopping or something equally ridiculous when she's in a mood because he knows the one thing she needs to not do after she has a seizure is stay trapped in her head thinking about the setbacks to her prior progress or else she'll drive herself insane.

Anyway in conclusion: Cinder's epilepsy isn't debilitating but it can be frustrating and the Rampion crew especially her loving husband Kaito come together to help ease Cinder whenever she's feeling down on herself because of the random seizures she's prone to experiencing.

I’m gonna rank the couples in The Lunar Chronicles and explain why because I’m immensely bored I apologize in advance. And also just because it’s in a lower position doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing like there are only 4 spots-

Also SPOILERS FOR THE SERIES-

4th PLACE

WOLFLET- it’s the whole alpha thing that caused this I’m sorry like they need a lil more screen time and a lot less calling each other alpha. But I did really love them just not in the book Scarlet. I loved them in Cress and Winter when they were separated and it was just immense amounts of pining and I think they’re the most solid/loyal couple in the series like they’d do anything for each other and I love that. Honestly they’re a top tier couple and I wish we got more time with them like SOSN was peak because we got to see them being domestic and like adjusting I loved it. If they were put up against most other couples then they’d win I swear

3RD PLACE

CRESSWELL-these two were almost in 4th actually cuz they’re one of my least favourite tropes where it’s like “experienced suave guy who’s so hot and elite and older” and like “naive girl who’s never left her house and this is in fact the first human she’s spoken too” but somehow they made it enjoyable like I loved how she was like his sight in Cress and how well they work together. He also helps her come out of her shell and know her worth. I also love the fact that he’s a slut in recovery. They’re also the funniest couple and they also had the most slow burn which I enjoyed and I loved their ending. They’re very fun and again in any other circumstance in other list they’d be higher up (I also don’t like that Thorne’s 20+ and she’s 16 like it’s a lil weird-)

2ND PLACE

JACINTER-ok I’m kinda sad I put them in second and not first but yeah they’re my babies. They’re the best amalgamation of tropes I’ve ever seen like they’re childhood best friends to lovers, they’re forbidden love, they’re sun x moon (LISTEN HEAR ME OUT ON THIS), they’re grumpy x sunshine. I also love how much they genuinely adore each other and fight for each other to be safe as much as possible. They also have immense amounts of chemistry and tension in every scene they’re in. I also love that even though Winter is obviously the most vulnerable one in the relationship it doesn’t feel like he’s constantly doting on her like it feels equal like she doesn’t feel like a child being taken care of because of her mental health. I could talk about them hours like the pining the immense pining and the way they talk about and to each other it’s so beautiful like I miss them sm and they’re not popular enough like they’re the cutest I also have a headcanon that when they both move to Earth Jacin eventually retires from being her bodyguard and goes to medical school and they get to grow old somewhere where it always snows.

1ST PLACE

KAIDER- I love them they’re my favourite book couple ever actually like they’re like the first couple I ever genuinely shipped. And they were perfect in EVERY BOOK LIKE I WAS STRAPPED ON THIS TRAIN WITH THEM THEYRE SO ENDEARING AND PERFECT. Like ugh I genuinely had no notes on them for like bad stuff that I didn’t like. Like as I’m typing I’m think of criticism??? They’re so loyal to each other it’s makes me wanna BAWL AND THEYRE SO IN LOVE IT JUST YES. One of the main reasons I love them is because we had the two of them for so long like in Cinder it was only two POVs (if you don’t count Dr. Erland) and we got to see how they felt constantly and they’re such lil idiots and I love them like they’re it. I also love how much they compliment each other and bring out the best parts in the other if that makes sense like Kai learns a lot from her.They did almost lose to Jacinter tho and it came VERY CLOSE

kaider: midnights- ight i used to say folklore but i’ve changed my mind they’re actually midnights. i feel like the album talks a lot of like the public’s eye of like taylor and her realtionships and i feel liek it really reflects kaider and a lot of songs are literally them and it’s just so UGH like most of the albums are just like feelings it’s not really a super explanation lol

regulus gets obliviated. shit happens is really the best way to describe it. no voldemort au again bc i like to make things simple for myself.

regulus starts his 6th year off like any other. he's a prefect now and he takes his duties seriously, he's studying like usual, but he can't help but feel like something is wrong. like something is... missing?

he thinks he just needs to get used to being back at hogwarts again, but he knows something is definitely wrong when one night while out on patrol, james potter grabs him and pulls him into a broom closet. the guy doesn't even let regulus throw a hex at him because his lips are immediately against regulus' and when he pulls away he's talking about how much they've missed him, how happy he is to see him, how hard he's tried to get regulus alone but could never seem to get it right.

he's telling regulus that lily is just around the corner and should be with them soon and then they can catch up on what happened over the summer and sort it all out, but regulus is still reeling from the fact that james fucking potter just kissed him??? and he's leaning in for more?? and regulus fucking lets him do it because wow his lips feel nice

and then lily evans is opening the door to the broom closet and regulus is expecting a screaming match to start any moment, but no, she approaches them and pulls regulus down so she can kiss him too and what the fuck?? when she pulls away regulus expects some big reveal, some confirmation that this is all a misunderstanding or maybe he expects to wake up in his bed. that would be nice.

but nothing happens, they don't say anything, they don't seem confused at all, if anything they seem happy and content like this is all normal and like regulus' entire world hasn't just shifted on its axis. so regulus comes to the one logical conclusion: this is all some big prank that sirius orchestrated to get back at him. why he had to get two of his friends involved with kissing regulus is beyond him, but he's not really complaining.

as you can imagine, this isn't a prank but rather lily and james trying to continue the secret relationship they started with regulus last year. problem is, regulus doesn't remember any of it. i'll just say that having your secret boyfriend and girlfriend send letters that could be easily intercepted by a nosy mother wasn't the smartest idea regulus has ever had

And how does daddy Maul deal with fussy baby? is the baby fussy? Does Maul get enough sleep? Does Maul make the drink or does s/o/oc/partner?

What games do they play? Are the baby horns soft and not-sharp? They do not look sharp. Can I touch the baby and hug them? ;//////////////;

AHHHHH THANK YOU FOR THE INTEREST IN BABY CRESS! The fic will have some info but depending on the one it might not a whole lot! I got lots of little fics!

Baby Cress is a boy! He looks a lot like his Daddy (which is very intentional as Cress also serves to show what kind of life Maul could have had if people cared for him)

Additionally Cress is a twin, he has a twin sister named Aster.

Oh Maul is very good about dealing with fussy babies, often taking the baby for a long walk around while rocking them gently. Other times just talking to them for a long long while, Maul has a very smooth voice and it helps lull fussy ones to sleep.

Cress is only fussy when he is hungry (which is often he has a big appetite) and when his teeth and horns grow (such is the way of baby zabraks)

Maul never gets enough sleep, but it’s not because of the baby. He has difficulty sleeping and is quite alright with making sure his s/o continues to rest and he will go see to the baby. “Did you have a bad dream?” He is often worried about the little one.

Oh Maul can probably make the baby a drink blindfolded at this point! He makes sure his baby always has what they need (really he always does, it’s a bit worrisome how concerned he gets)

As I headcanon Zabraks to be a bit more cat like lots of pretend pouncing, and hunting. Cress quite enjoys plush toys and pretend play so often Maul gets to be invited to tea parties 🤣.

As newborns the horns are softer, and then start to harden. They are not sharp as babies, at least not too much…that would be bad for both parent and baby if there is any head bumps.

As the child grows Maul will teach them to groom their horns properly (he learned himself not too long ago) on how to polish and sharpen them!

Yes you may touch and hug the baby! He loves affection and you can often find him clinging to his parents.

JANUARY - JULY 106

One month. Kya lifts her head during the strange ritual called tummy time. She likes to stare at her parents' faces. Her eyes are big and when she cries it's also big and very loud. She smiles once and it maybe is because she has pooped but he and Cress both cry.

The days pass in an exhausted blur. He doesn't accomplish much by way of revolution because he is busy accomplishing the smaller, more granular parts of life: cleaning blowouts, figuring out how to warm up the bottle just so, endlessly supporting Kya's little head, himself panicked and careful, not a natural at this at all. But Enna has agreed to let him help. Nano might be moved. He wants back in.

Two months. She coos and gurgles a lot. She is less jerky, she picks her head up more consistently when they do the tummy time. Slate reads to her several times a day, in part to pass the time, breaking it into chunks of one book to the next. She reaches for the pages with splayed fingers.

Spring coming to the Capitol. They go on walks with her, strapped to one of their chests. In Eleven things intensify. In every District, they intensify. Slate longs for the drugs that numbed him. He has nightmares almost every night now. He wakes to Kya screaming as if she too has seen Mercuria's death again in her mind's eye. He goes to her and finds comfort in her little body and her small, human needs.

Three months. She laughs now and smiles when they make silly faces. He is better at being silly than he'd thought he would be, better at making her laugh than he'd feared. At tummy time she tries to push herself up. It's like she, too, wants in on the action.

Free Eleven. It exists. It's out there. He keeps himself from whooping with joy when he hears. The neighbors, the walls, the light fixtures all have eyes, all have ears. And then shortly after, the Victor's Ball. An announcement. The age limit is gone. No one is safe. Cress isn't safe.

Four months. She grabs things. She still babbles: babababa, dadadada. When she says this, dadadada, he cries again and is surprised at himself for the outpouring of all this emotion, all this water. Maybe it's the water he soaked up in the Arena, finally draining out.

Free Eleven is a mess but it's free. Difficult to get reports. He wants to go, itches to go, but he won't leave. He can't leave. He's being watched. He and Cress fight off cameras, the press; they all want a piece of Kya but if they each take something she'll have nothing left. Instead they offer themselves up. Smiling and patriotic. At night he helps Enna sometimes. He does what he can.

Five months. She plays with her hands and feet and thinks these limbs of hers are a miracle. She rolls from her tummy to her back. She can sit up for a moment, sometimes two, all on her on.

The 136th Reaping draws closer. Tensions rise. He and Cress get word from friends, other sympathizers, about advances and defeats in Two. The news talks about how exciting this next Games will be, how great for everyone to be able to be involved.

Six months. She is ready for solid food and Slate samples some of it and nearly retches. Cress laughs at him. Kya jabbers and seems to recognize her own name. She puts lots of things in her mouth.

The Games draw closer, closer. The fever pitch the country is at; deafening noise from everywhere. Pressure and fear. He sometimes feels like he can't stop screaming, though he's making no noise at all, no noise ever. He's being perfectly silent. Perfectly good.

I wanna talk about this line from Cress for a second because it made me scream on the inside from the first time I read it:

“I don’t know. I never wanted to believe it, but I’ve had to wonder. And when you fell, and I saw your glamour … Cinder, do you have any idea how beautiful your glamour is?” ~ Cress (The Lunar Chronicles), Marissa Meyer

This line is so painfully beautiful to me in a way that's hard for me to articulate because its sort of complicated in my head too but I'm gonna try anyway. Kai doesn't mean this as a compliment obviously and Cinder knows as much, she even admits to that realization in the very next line. Cinder's glamour isn't exactly what either her or Kai consider a good thing. But inadvertently, this comment sort of becomes a compliment anyway... Or rather a very deep confession of feelings on Kai's part.

Because Kai finds Cinder beautiful even when she's completely unassuming and plain. When she has a grease stain on her forehead and hair in a messy ponytail and is completely awkward. Her glamour amplifies the beauty he already sees tenfold.

When he tells her that her glamour is painful, its like he's admitting the depth of his feelings for her and his fear that they aren't real cuz he WANTS them to be real so bad.

And if he already finds her so beautiful and the glamour makes her even more so, then what is the chance the entire thing wasn't a glamour from the get-go considering how fast and how strong his feelings crept on him? What if none of it was real and he has to live with the fact this beautiful girl he's already halfway to giving his heart to was just a hoax when he wants her to he everything but one because to him she's already an enigma he never expected to find.

Kaider just make me wanna scream because of the pining and angst so much.
