listen personifying vehicles (and by extension machines in general but i want to focus on vehicles for this post) just gets me super emotional.
Like i know i’m not the only one that feels such because i’m in a fandom where we collectively make modes of transportation sapient but there’s like this general special reaction when you hear of like this specific steamboat sinking and it hurts (in a good way).
I guess it’s because we tend to see vehicles as an extension of ourselves or our children if it’s personally owned transport. They eat to work they rest they need to go to a specialist they won’t work if we don’t treat them well to feel better and so on and so on.
Vehicles tend to be like artificial humans but also Not quite?? They can do some of the things that we can do and when times go by you kinda start growing with them too.
We tend to build a sort of connection to them even though they aren’t like ‘alive’ in a sense but you can feel that they have something alive in them that aren’t their operators or crew.
