Im currently playing the new update and so today I was out exploring across the ocean, piling all my treasure into a chest boat, and while I was out on the water some stupid trident guy broke my boat and I swam away in a panic, only to realize that ALL MY STUFF IS IN MY BOAT..... I read a fanfic once, I forgot which one. But in that fic, they have this idea where Gem and Grian's base has this... Foggy vibe to it. Like compare it to the cherry mountain that's all pink and petals and then you have these two bases which are straight up The Horrors™
I Just love that idea
So much I've been thinking, what if the whole Magic Mountain is surrounded by fog? A magic fog and mist that just always surround the area and got thicker as the sun set further. The area always seems cloudy. As if there is an eternal cloud forever covering the mountains. It's either raining, or storm, or cloudy. The only time it's clear is when Grian finally got his mending book, the pink snail arrive, and it switch to storm when Scar got the mending book. (He got struck by lightning a few time if he reaches that area)
Joel's base not only has lantern illuminating it, but souls as well. They didn't stay idle, but never went too far. Some of them even transform, Into tanuki or fox or wolves and even Koi fish and Axolotl. That fly in the air instead of water, obviously.
Sometimes there's things passing by on Impulse's build. Something tall and slender, with long limbs and sharp claws. They're not Enderman, Enderman don't crawl. Impulse said they're cool if you pretend they didn't exist and just let them... Lurks around.
Something is wrong with Mumbo's base. I want to call it decaying, but it's not. It's more like redstone veins appear around the blackened grass, the air smells like gunpowder and something acid. Or maybe copper.
Many hermits had reported seeing the sight of a statue angel that just appear on top of Skizz's unfinished Pyramid. It appear when they're looking at it, but then they look around and it's gone. The statue has never been in the same position everytime someone look at it.
Most people don't like going to Scar's base at night, not only because of how creepy it look like surrounded by those fog. Like the rest of them, something strange always happens. Like animals looking bigger and more beast-like the moment night arrive, ever seen a cow just grows multiple horns and it sounds like those horn are breaking out of it's skull? Or that one time, one time his horse stand up on two feet? Probably not. Scar said they're harmless. Except for the snail—he said. The snail isn't his. That's why they damaged his build and become a nuisance.
(There was once a time, a time where clouds whirled around his ore pillar, clouds that are made of limbs and hand and eyes and it just stretched and climb down from the pillar. It never reach the ground, fortunately.)
Grian never stopped fishing. Even if it rains or stormed outside. He's smelly and that's why snails like him and his horse don't. Totally not because Pluto saw him turn into giant mer-man with many eyes and tails and sharp tooth. Definitely not. Don't feel weird when you feel like you're being watched. Or because shadow-like silhouette wander around his wheat farm, or a silhouette of something massive that was illuminated everytime lightning strikes, looking down from the cherry mountain toward his and Gem's base and, occasionally, you felt like you found a body you recognize in the water—
And that's where Gem comes in! Gem is someone who stopped you before you decide to jump in the water and check who's that corpse is. And the one who shooed off the many eyes that lurk in the muddy river side of Grian's base. Grian hates her for that but there's nothing he can do. Gem, like Grian, is someone who can walk in the middle of the storm unharmed. Most of the time, she make sure that none of the hermits fell into the trick of her other neighbors.
just don't let that distract you from the fact one of her build is actually sentient and breathing and is always staring at you. Or the fact there's blood around the rocky shores if you squint into the dark river/soon-to-be-ocean. Or the fact that, just like the angler, the skull always felt like it's watching even if there's no actually eyes in it's socket. Gem is always present when you want to have a tour or just so happened to passed that area, but... If she's not there to guide you, would it even be worth it to be stabbed with a trident and got dragged into the water?

My favorite things about Grian, Joel, and Scar's 100 Hours in Hardcore series:
The way Joel and Scar instantly joined and kept away from Grian JUST TO TROLL HIM. They wasted 0 time and fully committed to the bit. That it's on the Last Life server and so everyone's whitelisted, there's no advancements to give it away in chat, is just perfect. How Grian didn't expect this to happen at all when it's obviously the logical and in-character thing to do. And he's trapped between them too.
The timer that really shows how much effort these mcyters put into their content, and also their skill at the game to get all this done in a relatively short amount of time. Early game really is such a pain, but resource gathering and building took them much less time than the average player. And pretty much all the usual stuff are done around the 50 hour mark.
Of course Scar takes advantage of the easier crafting recipe for TNT and gives Grian a terrible present. And of course Grian's luck in it unearthing the coal he needed. And of course Scar steals the enchanting table.
Grian's luck is insane. I've never seen such easy gathering of ancient debris.
Grian immediately needing rescue by Joel from the nether because he trapped himself while trying to prank Joel. Classic Grian luck.
They brought Jimmy on specifically for him to be mob bait, and PVP is enabled ONLY for him. Classic, because otherwise Joel and Grian would have ended each other's series already.
The foreshadowing of Grian arrogantly stating that he doesn't need a chestplate, running ahead of Jimmy who literally Only Had One Job, and dying immediately because he didn't have a chestplate. All because he wanted to get totems for Scar. Ironic.
Grian's build looking like he longs to be back skiing
The completely unfair death games and the completely predictable prisoner's dilemma results where they BOTH have to wear the armor
Everything about the hunters. All the stupid deaths. The scuffedness of it all. The mustaches. Minecraft pvp really is stupid.
The whole bit with messing with Grian's oxidizing copper
The giant Scar-sized mattress beds to mitigate fall damage. “Wait it’s getting night do you have a bed?”
The raid negotiations.
How Scar just makes everyone throw safety out the window. The endermen. Bridging with trapdoors.
“Hey Scar” creeper farm that he could added like 3 more layers to and tripled the efficiency rates.
Everytime he bullies Jimmy. “I know I got that type of face”
Joel being absolutely insufferable about one-upping Grian in hours, not dying, having a helmet, having a taller base, etc
"I think I’ve just sacrificed my wife for a nether star." “If you have a mustache you can come back apparently”
The pink Technoblade axolotl!!
Joel’s squeals are so high pitched and utterly hilarious to hear.
Joel’s chaotic murder energy.
“We should make out”
WHY DID HE JUMP ON TOP OF THE TNT MINECART. WHY.
Joel's streak of falling into his own traps continues. The hunters gearing up on his stuff, the wither not doing anything, dying to his own tnt minecart.
Scar's absolutely terribly dangerous base and playstyle. Giving everyone heart attacks. WHY IS HE PRACTICING WATER BUCKET CLUTCHES ON A HARDCORE SERIES?!?!? Why is his portal so dangerous. My heart can’t take this omg. WHY DIDNT HE TEST HIS ROLLERCOASTER?!? And of course it nearly kills him. The plank of doom is so anxiety inducing omg.
The foreshadowing with Grian worrying about enabling Scar’s death via elytra.
Grian and Joel having a blast on the minecarts while he struggles with it despite being the one WHO BUILT THE TRACKS. Him being stuck between Joel and Grian on the tracks along with the pillagers as a highway robbery moment is also very. Well. Tropey.
Them bullying Scar with their elytras is so good everytime. The whole endbusting shenanigans.
Scar's completely on brand and predictable death. "Can I have a mustache?" HE EVEN HOVERED OVER HIS 0 DURABILITY ELYTRA. The totem was even in his hotbar. “I made it out of surgery for this?!”

I’m going to start biting, actually. Usually I leave the analysis up to everyone else but I’m pumped tonight.
So. The Crown of Empires is back. Has been for *checks clock* about 10 minutes!
Here’s some things I noticed:
1. Pixlriffs is the one that presented the Crown to the others, and they all seemed to know what it was and what it represented. Lizzie specifically said that she knows history. The Crown has remained a Big Deal™️ for the last 1000+ years.
2. More meta; again. Pixlriffs presented the crown. This implies that he found or uncovered it? Or if you’re like me and you subscribe to ‘Archaeologist!Pix is The Copper King but immortal’, he might’ve just had it this whole time. I like both. Anyway the meta part I was on about is this; Pixlriffs was the last to fall at the Banquet in Rivendell. He held the Crown, and he fell to Jimmy for it. He never wore it himself, leaving before he could.
3. Lizzie remarked to fWhip afterwards that she’d love to have something of hers immortalised, especially something so important to Animalia. I am still so, so deep in the E1 feelings? So the word ‘immortal’ coming out of Lizzie’s mouth when she spent her previous life as an immortal axolotl possible-(demi?)goddess who lost everything. Yeah. Yeah. But at the same time, Empires: The Musical has been referenced a few times this season, so the Ocean Queen does live on, I guess.
I am so insane about Empires I love esmp it’s. Yeah. Looking forward to Pix’s episode. And Sausage’s. I want to see how False approaches it too.

Get to know my TWST OCs pt. 2
"What Nicknames Do They Have?"

Figured maybe doing a series of posts like this would help friends and mutuals get to know my OCs better!
Part 1: What Are They Twisted From? | Part 3: Copper's Backstory
While this will pertain to Floyd's and Rook's nicknaming conventions, there's also going to be a second part to this that will be a separate post for additional nicknames from other characters, both canon and others' OCs that have formed a significant relationship with my characters! That'll come later tho.
Copper Benoit:
"Sea Dog" (Floyd) - Initially, since Copper's origin and heritage are rather unknown until later plot developments, Floyd picked this nickname because the wind magic Copper utilizes often has a salty sea tang to it, and because there's a certain irony to it, given Copper has grown up under captivity in a bayou and cannot swim. When it's later revealed he's descended from a legendary pirate captain, Floyd feels vindicated and doubles down on the nickname.
"Petit Brigand | Roi des Brigands" (Rook) - when Copper first visits NRC, Rook pretty quickly clocks that the boy's got no small skill as a thief at the behest of his master forcing Copper to become one. Copper is understandably freaked out when he hears Rook call him "little robber" (how did he figure that out, Copper has looked for every excuse to not actually follow Mr. Stone's demands) and Rook reads him like an open book. When Copper's heritage is revealed, Rook delightedly changes the nickname on impulse.
Mr. Stone and Mr. Lurk:
"Rockfish and Chromium" (Floyd) - according to him, they're placeholder names. Hey, they can't all be perfect right away! However, as time goes on, he sticks with these nicknames for them, deeming both men not worthy of the effort.
Likewise, Rook doesn't believe either of them worth the effort or honor of nicknames.
(Floyd does nickname Augustus and Octavian "the Allibros", just a little portmanteau of "alligator brothers", and it's entirely possible that they might each get individual nicknames in the future if he gets to play with the alligators more after Copper officially keeps them. Same goes for Rook, he's more likely to refer to them with nicknames after Copper makes it clear he's keeping the alligators around in order to free them from Mr. Stone's abusive ownership.)
Wei Renqiao:
"Orca" (Floyd) - people assume that due to WRQ's size and intimidating stature but seemingly amicable nature that this is why Floyd chose the nickname. Sure, that can apply, but early on in their freshman year, Floyd overhead WRQ talking with Riddle about his culture, and the fact that his people used to be nomadic and the way they trace their heritage is matrilineal. This made Floyd say "oh, so like an orca pod" and he's called WRQ "Orca" ever since.
"Grand Génie" (Rook) - credit has to go to my close friend @inmateofthemind for coming up with this one, as a respectful title Rook would use for WRQ. (iirc it means "great genius", though I'm sure it would take a hot second for anyone to puzzle that out)
Wei Xinyi:
"Ribbon Eel" (Floyd) - picked on a whim when hearing WRQ talking about his cousin being genderfluid. Turns out it fits better than Floyd expected when he first sees Wei Xinyi and realizes they're definitely as colorful as a ribbon eel too.
"Monsieur beauté mortelle" (Rook) - Listen. Wei Xinyi is an extremely, breathtakingly beautiful person. Like preternaturally beautiful, and people are often left speechless when they first see him. Rook was no exception and decided to pick a nickname accordingly.
Wei Gang:
"King Salmon" (Floyd)
"Monsieur tradition culturelle" (Rook)
Still working on figuring out how to explain the Watsonian explanation for these ones, as I'm being a little picky; I'll update later as needed.
Chrysanthos Shroud:
"Axolotl" (Floyd) - Chrys makes quite a stark impression when the Octotrio first meets him, but that hardly means that Floyd doesn't take notice of Chrys's limp after he leaves with a flourish. Floyd figures it could be either the result of an old injury that never healed correctly or the sign of an artificial limb. When he later learns the latter guess was correct and Chrys has a prosthetic leg, Floyd delightedly equates him to an axolotl and thus the nickname sticks.
Rook currently has no set nickname for Chrys! He tries to pick one a few different times, though Chrys gently shoots down a number of them with reasonable explanations as to why they might best fit others. The big thing however, is that Rook also winds up getting one of Chrysanthos's lectures and reads where Chrys points out Rook's weaknesses and shortcomings, and tries to offer some advice on what Rook can do to improve. Unlike most other students, who usually take Chrys's call-outs as an attack, Rook appreciates hearing the truth laid out to him, even if it does sting with that delivery. As such, this actually earns Chrys a lot of respect from Rook, so he is undecided on what to actually nickname him as a result (the nickname must be a perfect fit!) so for now, he just calls him "Monsieur Shroud".
