GALTx eNews: Let's Make Summer Sizzle!

After endless hot summer days, we are truly having a sizzling summer so we're hosting GALT's 2022 Summer Sizzler Auction! This auction features unique jewelry and fine art, along with gift cards, accessories, and so much more! If you don't need more stuff but would like to help the hounds, take a look at our special FAN (Fund-A-Need) auction lots where you can make donations to help Lisa (pictured) and GALT's other injured reserve hounds (Lot #37) or help the hounds in boarding (Lot #38).

Lisa came to GALT as an owner surrender with a large mass on her right lateral thoracic area. Our GALT veterinarians have evaluated her and referred her to Dr. Bob Radasch of the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center for an appointment on August 22, 2022. As many of you know, Dr. Radasch has been GALT's surgeon of choice for over 20 years. His evaluation will lay out a plan of treatment, which may involve more than one surgery. The mass is quite large, measuring approximately 12x15 cm. It's visible in the photo above, but for a more clear image of its size, click here. Lisa's medical expenses are unknown at this time and are expected to be quite significant.

Our other four Injured Reserve greys (Astro, Bob Barker, Pumpkin, and Watson) are all currently being treated for heartworm or Ehrlichia Canis. Medical costs to treat Ehrlichia Canis average $1,500 and most heartworm cases average $2,600. Additionally, our electricity bills at Houn' House for the month of June exceeded $800. We dread opening July's bill. Please help cover some of these costs by making a $25 or $50 donation to our FAN Clubs! GALT will do whatever it takes to cover our Injured Reserve medical expenses and keep the hounds in boarding comfortable. We count on you to help us in that effort!

Un livre pour découvrir la faune et la flore marine de Méditerranée

Le Parc National de Port-Cros propose un petit guide de la faune et de la flore méditerranéenne. Ce livre indispensable pour une croisière sur la Grande Bleue est édité aux éditions Glénat. En tant que plaisanciers, naviguer le long de nos côtes, c’est découvrir la faune et la flore qui nous entoure. La navigation en croisière est une façon de redécouvrir la nature et bien évidemment l’environnement marin. Il peut nous arriver, régulièrement de croiser des poissons, des crustacés ou des algues et d’être incapable de les nommer, ou tout simplement de savoir de quoi il s’agit. Les plaisanciers qui naviguent sur les eaux de la Méditerranée ont maintenant un petit guide qui pour les aider.
