Geez. Mewtwo is such a drama queen. Other characters/people had it so much worse than him. Yet body possession (which happened countless times to different characters in different medias) was apparently one step too far for Mewtwo. It's especially insulting given that it didn't seem to have so much of an impact on him in the movie. Mewtwo is such a wimp in your universe. Or perhaps it's all angst for angst sake.
Oh ok, so when a character goes through traumatic experiences, they're wimps. And yet you compare him to other characters and people who supposedly had it worse, like what he suffered through doesn't really matter or isn't a big deal and because of that he should just toughen up...Cool bro, that's a nice mentality to have :V
Trauma is trauma my guy, it doesn't matter how mild or severe you think the situation is, it's also something that can develop overtime over different things. Mewtwo had been through so much before what Howard Clifford did to him.
Let's recap shall we?
He saw his best friend die in front of him as a child, he was experimented on against his will, was manipulated and abused by someone he thought he trusted, was almost on death's door the first time when TR came to reclaim him, spent the rest of his time still trying to find his place in the world only to be shunned or attacked by wild pokemon along the way who found his presence unsettling, not finding a place to be truly accepted or just to be left alone. THEN he got captured by Howard Clifford to yet again, be experimented on and have his free will be taken away being used as a living puppet! Not to mention that at the time, Mewtwo still didn't really know how to process certain emotions, let alone dealing with traumatic feelings. So he had no idea how to handle it other than to suppress those emotions, which led to them manifesting overtime to the point he just felt hopelessness, felt that nothing he tried or did was working, and started doubting what the point of life was when his life thus far had been nothing but torment with little to no relief. He fought and fought for his right to live, but you can only fight for so long until you feel you cannot keep it up anymore...but I guess to you, that just makes him a weak and pathetic character now right?
I'd like you to tell me that if you went through the same experiences Mewtwo did, or anything traumatic cause it sounds like you haven't, you think you would come out of it completely unaffected??? Or would you be as indifferent and apathetic as you sound in this ask? Cause if you ask me, you're the one that's being "especially insulting" dude :V

LAZY SUNDAY REVIEW: DOCTOR DETROIT (1983)
@thealmightyemprex @amalthea9 @spengnitzed @bixiebeet @themousefromfantasyland @the-blue-fairie
Tumblr media
In this comedy, Clifford Skridlow (Dan Aykroyd) is a Comparative Literature Professor and Medieval Literature Scholar who, during a morning making jogging, passes by the limo of the rich pimp Smooth Walker (Howard Hesseman), who is acompanied by the prostitutes who work for him, Karen Blittstein (Fran Drescher), Monica McNeil (Donna Dixon), Jasmine Wu (Lydia Lei) and Thelma Cleland (Lynn Whitfield).
Smooth Walker has a huge financial debt to Mom (Kate Murtagh), the crime boss of Chicago. Not intending to pay it, he invents the story that he got a new partner known as “Doctor Detroit”, and after coincidentally finding the meek scholar again in an indian restaurant, he tricks Clifford Skridlow into enjoy an agitated night with drinking and drugs, and manipulates him to enter his business, without really explaining what it really is.
The next day, Smooth Walker takes a plane and runs away to Samoa with his money, leaving the four woman who worked for him on their own. The ladies make contact with Clifford to help them not be taken by Mom.
After finally learning that the ladies are sex workers and that the business Smooth Walker left for him meant exploiting prostitution, Clifford, wanting to emulate the heroic knights that he reads about in Medieval Literature, decides to take the guise of Doctor Detroit as a way to protect the four ladies, with the help of Diavolo (T.K. Carter), the former driver of Smooth Walker who is aspiring to become a rich and famous actor.
You may be asking how did I heard of this movie and got curious to check it out?
Well, I was watching an episode of the talk show hosted by Fran Drescher on Youtube, where she interviewed both Dan Aykroyd and his wife Donna Dixon, who are both her professional colleagues and personal friends. During the interview, she told about working with them in the movie and how it was during filming that he introduced Dan and Donna, helping their romance to start.
Intrigued by this story of matchmaking in the backstages, and by the title of the movie, I decided to check out the plot summary on TV Tropes. When I learned of this mix of eighties sex comedy, action and chivalric romance, I tought “This is such a weird mix, I have to check this out to see if its real”.
It is, and I never had so much fun watching a silly movie as I had watching this. There are some elements that are dated (like when Smooth Walker offers to pay dinner for Clifford, the main character starts asking almost in panic if he is gay and trying to seduce him), but overall, I went expecting absurd and over the top scenarios, and I was not disapointed.
The colorfull costumes are a marvel to look at, the soundtrack, with songs by big names like DEVO and James Brown, makes you want to party, Dan Aykroyd gives a great performance as the nerd who wants to be a noble knight in cynical modern times, T K Carter is very charismatic as the street smart Diavolo, Fran Drescher, Donna Dixon, Lydia Lei and Lynn Whitfield (in the first of two movies where she played a simpathetic sex worker, the second being the 1985 western Silverado) are pretty wholesome and energetic in their performances as the four ladies that the hero wants to protect (and finds atractive), and is interesting that while there is innuendo, there is no actual sex scene with them, Kate Murtagh brings gravitas as the intimidating villain Mom, and there is the great contrast between George Furth as the pompous and money obsessed Arthur Skridlow and Nan Margaret as the free spirited, light hearted and loving Margaret Skridlow, Clifford’s parents.
If you want to just relax and enjoy some laughs, while apreciating a great pop soundtrack and the colorfull aesthetics of eighties movie fashion, this campy comedy is perfect for a lazy sunday.

My review on Clifford’s Really Big Movie (Ft. Clifford)
HOLY CURD, I remember Clifford’s Really Big Movie! I remember first seeing it back in 2th grade. We were having, (maybe a Halloween party or Christmas party), back in elementary school. (I dunno, I was young at the time.), but my 2th grade class and another 2th grade class that we were hanging out with, we all sat together and watched this movie until it was time for us to go back home or get ready to go home.

Hihi there! I hope you're doing good today. For the ask game, how about playground and lunch box? :]
@sillyboystimmsnkins
I really like watching Disney movies especially the ones about animals (lion king, Bambi, brother bear, 101 Dalmatians, but especially lion king), I love land before time, and balto and Spirit stallion of the Cimarron
And I like Clifford, dragon tales, lion guard, 101 dalmatian street. Bear in the big blue house but I usually save that one for when I'm anxious and can't sleep, it's so calming
In an older headspace stuff like owl house and gravity falls
And for books, I love velveteen rabbit (but it also makes me kinda sad), Eric carle books (like very hungry caterpillar), Margaret wise brown books, old little golden books (like pokey little puppy), any children's book about horses
In an older headspace, stuff like Black stallion, PercyJackson, Graveyard book by neil gaiman, narnia...
I always loved reading
As for toys I have lots of toy horses I love and stuffed animals and lion king toys

Crushes (2) Masterlist
part one
A Movie I Wanna See (ao3) - secretlyryanross Luke/Ashton N/R, 4k
Summary: Luke works at his local movie theatre and is asked to stay over late to help Ashton clean theatres. No problem, right? Well, one problem. He has a huge crush on Ashton.
For Him - @daydadahlias (cornflowerblue (daydadahlias)) Michael/Calum/Ashton E, 25k
Summary: Ashton Irwin is a geography teacher with a massive crush on the band teacher, Michael Clifford. When cutbacks threaten the school’s music program and Michael, Ashton springs into action. He dusts off his long-unused wrestling skills from college and earns money for the program by moonlighting as a mixed martial arts fighter, trained by ex-fighter Calum Hood. Though the school nurse, Luke Hemmings, thinks he’s crazy, Ashton gains something he never expected (*cough* two boyfriends *cough*), and finds a semblance of safety in the chaos.
or, the slutty Here Comes the Boom AU that none of you knew you needed.
He Looks So Perfect (ao3) - Emmybazy Luke/Calum G, 3k
Summary: It’s not creepy to have a crush on someone you’ve never spoken to. It’s not. Right?
Or, Luke and Calum take the same subway to work.
how did we end up talking in the first place? (ao3) - hemmingscliffords Michael/Luke E, 3k
Summary: Michael works in a coffee shop on Saturdays and he's kind of lame. Luke walks in and Michael kind of falls in love right then and there.
In the Next Room (ao3) - valiantnerd (arareads) Luke/Ashton E, 28k
Summary: Ashton moves into an apartment with walls made of little more than cardboard and foreign playlists, develops a gigantic crush on Luke, and takes a hot second realizing what’s right in front of him.
It Was Never Just Fun (ao3) - biggest_mistake T, 4k
Summary: Michael thinks having a friends with benefits arrangement with his crush might not have been the best idea.
make you blush (ao3) - dazedlight (opinionoutpost) Luke/Ashton T, 5k
Summary: "Luke peers up, and he's sure his heart does stop this time as he shrinks in on himself, worrying at his bottom lip. He really doesn't need this right now. In fact, he needs the opposite of this – he really, really doesn't want to talk to Ashton Irwin at this moment, or any moment, to be honest, because he thinks his stomach might fall out of his ass if he tries."
Or, Luke is a dweeby Year 10 who has a crush on the star of the musical.
Princes (ao3) - wallywestie Luke/Ashton, Michael/Calum N/R, 2k
Summary: Ashton and Luke have been friends since Luke was a baby. He doesn't remember a day where he didn't know Ashton.
Luke has the biggest crush on Ashton that his best friend Michael, always teases him about. What he doesn't know is that Ashton reciprocates these feelings and is finally manning up and telling him.
So Kiss Me Where I Lay Down (ao3) - FranticFangirl Michael/Luke T, 3k
Summary: It’s not like Michael was sly or smooth about it, hell, every other person in his life had already figured it out. Calum knew, Ashton knew, Michael’s mother knew, Calum, Ashton and Luke’s mothers all knew. He was pretty sure that even his pets knew, but somehow Luke managed to remain more adorably oblivious to Michael’s crush than a damn poodle, and Michael didn’t know whether to be impressed or concerned by that.
Or, the one when Michael has a crush on Luke, Luke helps him dye his hair, and then they have sex. Oh, also Luke is a girl.

Sugar, We're Going Down Swingin' (ao3) - dontpanicmuke Michael/Luke N/R, 9k
Summary: Luke has just moved to a tiny town where everyone is living like it's the 1950s. He makes the baseball team at his new school and meets Michael, the catcher who been out since his freshman year. Luke starts to develop feelings for him, but his fear of coming out force him to bury them. Luke has to deal with his newfound crush and the weight of the team as they look to him, the pitcher, to take them to state this year.
under the mistletoe - @sup3rbloom (haveufoundwhaturlookingfor) Michael/Luke, Calum/Ashton, Sierra/Crystal T, 3k
Summary: Michael needs a date to his work’s Christmas party. Luke offers to be his fake date. Michael should be thrilled about this, but Michael’s had a crush on Luke ever since they met each other. Now he has to fake date Luke for a party when his feelings aren’t fake at all.
White Noise (ao3) - merlypops Luke/Ashton E, 7k
Summary: 'Luke had high expectations for the evening and, somehow, he kind of knew Ashton wasn’t going to disappoint him. Then again, the older boy could give Luke the world’s worst hand job and he’d probably still love it. Crushes were the worst. Except when you got to have sex with your crush. Then they were pretty damn great.’
Luke and Ashton have massive crushes on each other, Ashton throws a party, and all of Luke’s dreams come true. (Maybe they’re a tiny bit in love too. Maybe.)
Wonderland (ao3) - dracomalfloy Michael/Luke E, 69k
Summary: Or the one where Luke definitely doesn't have a crush on the bartender with the flaming red hair. Michael has the prettiest eyes and a troubled past and Calum and Ashton are determined to make this the best summer of their lives.

Termite Terrace Club - March 31st
1931 - Yodeling Yokels - Dir. Harman/Ising
1956 - Heaven Scent - Dir. Chuck Jones
1962 - Quackodile Tears - Dir. Arthur Davis
Also released on this day, only on the 2004 Australian DVD of #LooneyTunes: Back in Action is five of the six Larry Doyle produced shorts.
“Museum Scream”
“Hare and Loathing in Las Vegas” which was supposed to be shown before The Polar Express.
“Attack of the Drones”, originally planned to be shown before the Olsen Twins’ New York Minute.
“Cock-a-Doodle-Duel” (planned to be shown before Clifford’s Really Big Movie).
And finally, “My Generation G...G... Gap” (planned to be shown before A Cinderella Story).
Now the root of the problem behind these Larry Doyle shorts is that the writers behind them don’t understand the slapstick violence and joke of the original shorts which leads to a more misses-than-hits execution.

Lady Chatterly's Lover. By D.H. Lawrence. Signet Classics, 2003 (first published in 1928).
Rating: 4/5 stars
Genre: literary fiction, 20th century literature
Part of a Series? No
Summary: Lawrence's frank portrayal of an extramarital affair and the explicit sexual explorations of its central characters caused this controversial book, now considered a masterpiece, to be banned as pornography until 1960.
***Full review under the cut.***
Content Warnings: explicit sexual content; casual anti-Semitism, misogyny, racism, and homophobia
Overview: I have a confession to make: I have a PhD in English and I've never read any D.H. Lawrence. Perhaps that's not a big shock, as I've primarily focused on things written before the Industrial Revolution, but I figured Lawrence's name is big enough where I should at least read something of his. I chose Lady Chatterly's Lover for two reasons: because there's a new movie coming our and because I wanted to see what all the "obscene" fuss was about. Overall, I was surprised by how engaging this book was. I went in expecting smut, and there was smut - but I also found Lawrence's commentary on class and mind vs body to be interesting. While I wouldn't recommend this book if you're looking for progressive depictions of love and class, I do think this novel is thought-provoking, so for that reason (more so than purely "enjoying" the book), it gets 4 stars from me.
Writing: I found Lawrence's prose to be fairly accessible in that it moved quickly and was fairly direct. Lawrence has a real talent for being able to anchor the reader in a particular moment, and I appreciated the way he conveys his characters' innermost thoughts.
I also really liked how Lawrence explores themes like class, sexuality, industrialization, and life post-WWI, weaving philosophical discussions and telling details into his scenes. For example, the character Clifford is a disabled veteran and baron who begins to feel more "masculine" and virile once he turns his attention from art to business. At the time his business prospects are taking off and he sees himself as having power over his workers, he seems to be able to get an erection again.
If I had any criticism, it would be that there are some areas where Lawrence can get a little repetitive. Maybe that's a consequence of wanting to portray how human thought works - it often circles around and maybe Lawrence was using some of the same words or phrases for a particular effect. But I would have liked to see some parts of this book streamlined a bit more, if i was an editor in the 1920s.
Also, a quick note on my content warnings: there are passages in this book that come across as anti-Semitic, homophobic, and racist. There are also passages that portray women in... not the best light. It wasn't so abundant that it felt like the whole book was railing against Jews or lesbians or other groups, but I would avoid reading this book if casual remarks make you uncomfortable.
Plot: The main plot of this book follows Constance (Connie) Chatterly, the wife of a baron who has an affair with a man of a lower social class. Connie is married to Clifford, who has inherited the baronet after the death of his older brother in WWI. Clifford is also a veteran and has lost the use of his legs, so he primarily spends his time becoming famous in writers' circles. Connie, who is frustrated by these "life of the mind" types, grows bored with being Clifford's caretaker and longs for physical connection in addition to a mental/emotional relationship. She thus hires a caretaker for Clifford named Mrs. Bolton, which frees her up to have an affair with the groundskeeper, Oliver Mellors.
This plot was interesting because it wasn't just about an affair. I've read many a book in which the female protagonist has an affair and it turns out badly, but this novel didn't necessarily condemn Connie as immoral; rather, the plot of this book was more interested in exploring the forces that drove Connie to have an affair, putting the blame on things like a lack of connection with Clifford and the insufficiency of a match based purely on a mental connection. I wouldn't call this book progressive, however, as there are some things that made me wonder about Lawrence's attitudes towards women and economics; but this book was so much more interesting than a smutty scandal rag, and I enjoyed it mostly for the way it provoked complex thought.
That being said, I think it could have been more impactful if Lawrence spent more time building up Connie's relationship with Mellors. As it stands, they seem to just fall into bed with one another, and while I understand what Lawrence was trying to do with the smut scenes, I personally found them to be somewhat gratuitous. Granted, I'm also a romance reader with a set of standards/preferences, so take that as you will.
Characters: Connie, our titular "Lady Chatterly," is fairly sympathetic in that she's a "free woman" with fairly understandable frustrations regarding her marriage. I liked that Lawrence presented her as not just promiscuous; instead, Connie is looking for a relationship that is fulfilling - not only mentally, but emotionally and physically. Lawrence did a good job of making the male writers/"life of the mind" types insufferable, so I was completely in favor of her living her best life then. I do think there are moments when her affair doesn't feel quite justified, but that might be my own biases coming through.
Clifford, Connie's husband, is interesting in that he is complex. Lawrence spends a lot of time exploring Clifford's emotions surrounding his reliance on others, his class, and his writing vs his business, and I think this made it more likely to be sympathetic to Connie without turning Clifford into a villain. Clifford also has some GOP-level ideas about "the ruling class" and "the masses," so his ideologies made him off-putting enough without making him outright abusive. I prefer that over someone who actively mistreat his employees or whatever.
Mellors, the gamekeeper, has some interesting qualities but is a little more flat than the other characters for the first 2/3 pf the book. We don't get as much insight into his thoughts and feelings until fairly late in the book, and even when we learn more about him, he's not necessarily the most attractive man (by today's standards). Still, the attitude others have regarding his class and dialect of speaking make for some curious passages and an intriguing patterns regarding Lawrence's themes. I do wish, though, that Lawrence had spent more time on Mellors' character development, as the change in attitude towards the relationship comes somewhat abruptly at the end.
Mrs. Bolton, Clifford's caretaker, is a great balance to Clifford and Connie in that she brings out some of Clifford's gossipy tendencies and butters him up so he feels more powerful. The relationship she forms with Clifford is somewhat uncomfortable, but I think it has some literary value because it kind of acts as a counterbalance for other relationships in the book. I also liked that she was devoted to Clifford but not antagonistic towards Connie; instead, she seemed to genuinely care about both of her employers, which was nice.
TL;DR: Lady Chatterly's Lover is much more than an "obscene" book. With a focus on class and embodiment, this book prompts readers to consider the way "society" plays a role in shaping expectations and behaviors, all while presenting a rather down-to-earth look at an extramarital affair.

I just saw this movie called Clifford the Big Red Dog and I loved it so much. It’s about this girl finding a little puppy that’s red in color from a magical guy who owns an animal shelter tent and it’s because of her love the dog grows up to be the size of a literal tree in a day. There’s all sorts of chaos caused for the dog, they get into problems with the police, an evil organization that wants to use the dog for their own benefit and stuff. How would yandere Damian Wayne react to the reader having such a giant dog like this and getting into all sorts of dangerous and crazy adventures?
I am really sorry, but I'm not taking requests at the moment. Hope you understand

FICTIONAL CHARACTER ASK: JOHNNY FIAMA
Asked by @princesssarisa
@moonbeamelf @fragglesesamemuppetz2 @softlytowardthesun @themousefromfantasyland @angelixgutz @amalthea9
Favorite Thing About Them: His passion for a period in music history and genre that is not really popular in modern times. He doesn't care that is not a trend, he sings crooner music and dresses in a rat pack style gangster suit because that is what he loves and identifies with, and that is a nice message of encouragement that the character presents in a subtle way.
Least Favorite Thing About Them: He can be arrogant and frequently force himself into other people's spaces, even trying to force other people to eat his mother's spagetthi when they just don't want to or can't at the moment.
Three Things I Have In Common With Them:
* I love pasta;
* I enjoy the melody of the song Goldfinger;
* I probably would get nervous in awe when meeting an idol;
Three Things I Don't Have In Common With Them:
* I'm not italian american;
* I don't have a monkey working for me as my security guard;
* I'm not a crooner singer;
Favorite Line:
This exchange he has with Clifford and Sal Minella about his Tony Bennet fanboy memorabilia:
"Johnny Fiama: Oh, Clifford! I'm so glad you stopped in. Listen, in honor of Tony being on the show, I thought I'd bring in a few of my collectibles from home.
Clifford: You brought in all this yourself?
Johnny Fiama: Oh, you better believe it, kid.
Sal Minella: I got the last one here, Johnny.
Johnny Fiama: Oh, thank you, Sal. Listen, put it over there, huh, pal?
Sal Minella: Okay.
Johnny Fiama: Great. Look, Clifford, I got every album Tony Bennett ever made, including this very rare, Sergeant Tony's Lonely Hearts Club Gang, which, by the way, came out a week before the one with those other guys.
Clifford: The Beatles?...
Johnny Fiama: Whatever. Anyway, look, I got the Tony Bennett lunchbox, huh? And then, and then I got the Tony Bennett action figure with kung-fu grip. And then, I got a full case of his canned pasta, Rig-a-Tony Bennett!
Sal Minella: You want I should open a can, Johnny?

These line he says when playing the role of Prince John in the comic Muppet Robin Hood:
"Look, boys, I really don't care what he does to Marian, but this whole thing makes me look bad, and you know I hate to look bad."
"Now that I think about it, I could really go for some cookies right now! Can we get some cookies here?"
brOTP: Clifford, Big Mean Carl, Dr. Phill van Neuter, Seymour the Elephant, Pepe the King Prawn, Spamela Hamderson, Bobo the Bear, Rowlf the Dog.
OTP: Sal Minella, Dr. Teeth.

Random Headcanon: He only imitates the fashion of gangsters that he saw on movies, but he isn't really in the mob.
Unpopular Opinion: He is a great Muppet character who is specially fitting to play antagonistic roles (like Prince John in the comic Muppet Robin Hood) and should be considered an important member of the gang just like Bobo the Bear and Pepe the King Prawn have becomed.
