Three Ships:
vi/caitlyn (arcane), aoba/clear (dmmd), towa/fujieda (slow damage)
First Ship:
i think it was some OTPs from Fruits Basket, Hana Kimi, or X/1999 but i can’t remember. i know my first ships when I got into yaoi were >_> Soubi/Ritsuka from Loveless or Yoite/Miharu from Nabari no Ou (even tho its not officially a BL) or Hiroki/Nowaki from Junkou romantica in some unknown order
Last Song:
The nexus by Amaranthe (i’ve been getting back into my rock phase from before 2020 lol)
Last Movie:
Wakanda forever. it was alright and i appreciated how they tackled the challenges the movie faced
Currently Reading:
I usually read multiple at a time. So currently Viral Airwaves by Claude Arsenault, Rebel Robin (Stranger Things), and Escape to Pirate Island by Niami murphy. But more frequently xD i’ve been reading ao3 xD and the occasional dojinshi scanlation >_>
Currently Watching:
most recent was the Chucky TV series, although my family is also rewatching the OG pokemon series (and we’re planning to rewatch the rest of pokemon + the movies)
Currently Consuming:
xD i’m about to go to sleep so the last thing i drank was water
Currently Craving:
food-wise? some gooood chocolate arrrrgh
Currently Listening to:
(So this year i mostly listened to sheridan tapes, woe.begone, desperado, malevolent, mission rejected, quiet part loud, hi nay, kingmaker, and trice forgotten bc they were ongoing/had new episodes. however i also discovered Vacant Arcadia, The Line, and Splintered Caravan, altho i only really recommend Vacant Arcadia as needing new listeners which i’ve relistened to 3x since i discovered it haha.) but as of the end of december, i would say i’m basically only listening to ongoing December shows, so that would be woe.begone weekly, although someone dies in this elevator, sidequesting, mission rejected have new episodes and [I WAS VERY EXCITED] Hit the Bricks and Keep It Steady’s newest episodes. You NEED to check out the latter 2 shows, i think they’re FINALLY out of hiatus.
oop this got way too long.
Tagging: @kahtiihma @boombox-fuckboy @yukirayu @artistic-w1tch @collegedruledzebra and anyone else who sees this i suppose xD

Concept: AU or headcanons (you decide!) where Athy grows up under Anastasius' tutelage meanwhile Jeanette grows up with Claude's in the royal palace. How much would that change them?
OHHHH ANON HOW YOU HAVE IGNITED THE FLAMES OF WAR WITHIN ME ISTG REVENGE REVENGE REVENGE DELIGHTFUL I- *insert incoherent rambling about how much I love smart! athy here*
WMMAP/Who made me a princess
Ship: Gen/no ship
Genre: AU/with lil headcanons sprinkled in
Word count: 760
Jennette, known as the pure, the lovely princess of the Obelian empire, who with the love of everyone, her citizens and father included, she lives a life that everyone desires. Everyday she looks out the windows towards the lake, everyday she sits with her father to have tea with him, everyday she lives as if nothing is wrong because- there isn’t.
But still.
No matter how good, no matter how talented she was at dancing, or embroidery, or arranging tea parties, she could not take up father’s reins even as his heir. She tried, she really did try.
She sits down with those who graduated with the highest scores, and she looks at the numbers and words swirling on the pages, with their voices droning on in the background, and she just couldn’t.
She had the best tutors, the best officials, and everyone surrounded her with such high expectations she couldn’t get rid of them with her longing for a simpler day to follow.
Her father looks at her work day to day, month to month, until one day, he doesn’t call for her to bring him the assigned work. Jennette later hears that it was because he had appointed a regent position in case something happens to him with his failing health.
Her heart falls as she listens to the couriers whispering in the hall. She sticks closer to father after that.
But not long after, Claude de Alger Obelia dies, for reasons unknown to even the best and brightest Imperial mages. And Jennette became an Empress in name, and name alone.
A figure-head that had no real power but sat on the golden throne to look pretty as her appointed regent did things in her stead. A lifeless, forever lovely princess.
That was all she ever was in life, and all she would ever be.
Athanasia at a young age learns from her uncle, with his dark Obelian eyes and hair that captures the sun in its locks, and a black heart that could rival the worst of malevolent demons, that her father was nothing to her.
He had abandoned her for her uncle’s child-a daughter he no longer hoped for, and instead of bemoaning her fate, she works on policies and sword mastery as if the devil possessed her, and her intelligence helps her soak up knowledge, endlessly.
Anastasius watches her fling her mana at a target and sees it burn up in a sea of blue flames, and smiles.
She did not say of how she wanted to be a princess like her cousin, or how she wanted her rightful place back, she simply went on being herself, and her fist lights up in electric strands as she looks at the eyes of the Imperial family in the mirror and across from her at the table.
Just as how Anastasius didn’t tell her of how his eyes burned with black rage as he stared at the palace in the distance. The palaces that were supposed to be his, would always be his.
He tells her of black magic when she was ready, because even if she wasn’t his own, he had raised her with all the feelings he had left. Their blonde hair and blue eyes were disguised with it, how her father was dying with Jennette by his side, and Athanasia seems to cover her laugh with her hand.
He asks her why.
She snickers as she throws out a, "Well, uncle- she was named as god’s most precious, but she’s doing exactly the opposite to the one who dethroned the tyrant, isn’t it ironic?"
They make it to the palace just as it is ready to fall, because even with her lovely name and appearance, Jennette would have never been able to stop a war. It had long been in motion.
Their quiet army of troops standing ready to storm the doors, and their black hair and black eyes shimmered under the firelight and in a sweeping motion, their eyes and hair were plain to see.
Claude, who had fallen victim, was no longer there to protect his people, his heir. And with a relish that could not be put into mere words, Athanasia and Anastasius rip through them as if they were paper.
The lovely princess falls at last. And there sits an emperor rightfully crowned, who once had sat in that golden throne before. Now with a new lovely princess at his side, one that was truly worthy of her name.
Long live the Imperial bloodline. Bow before their immortality.

Five Interesting Nonfiction Books:
Brother, I'm Dying by Edwidge Danticat - From the age of four, Edwidge Danticat came to think of her uncle Joseph, a charismatic pastor, as her “second father,” when she was placed in his care after her parents left Haiti for a better life in America. Listening to his sermons, sharing coconut-flavored ices on their walks through town, roaming through the house that held together many members of a colorful extended family, Edwidge grew profoundly attached to Joseph. He was the man who “knew all the verses for love.” And so she experiences a jumble of emotions when, at twelve, she joins her parents in New York City. She is at last reunited with her two youngest brothers, and with her mother and father, whom she has struggled to remember. But she must also leave behind Joseph and the only home she’s ever known. Edwidge tells of making a new life in a new country while fearing for the safety of those still in Haiti as the political situation deteriorates. But Brother I’m Dying soon becomes a terrifying tale of good people caught up in events beyond their control. Late in 2004, his life threatened by an angry mob, forced to flee his church, the frail, eighty-one-year-old Joseph makes his way to Miami, where he thinks he will be safe. Instead, he is detained by U.S. Customs, held by the Department of Homeland Security, brutally imprisoned, and dead within days. It was a story that made headlines around the world. His brother, Mira, will soon join him in death, but not before he holds hope in his arms: Edwidge’s firstborn, who will bear his name—and the family’s stories, both joyous and tragic—into the next generation. Told with tremendous feeling, this is a true-life epic on an intimate scale: a deeply affecting story of home and family—of two men’s lives and deaths, and of a daughter’s great love for them both. (Goodreads)
An Invisible Geography By Nadine Pinede - In this debut chapbook, Nadine Pinede traverses her own geographies of hope--from the glamour and grit of a Paris sidewalk that frames her parents' first meeting; to the scarlet plumes of the Bastille Day parades of her birth; to the turbulent historical wealth and mortal devastation of her native Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. Richly imaged and evocative, these are poems whose darkness is tempered with light. These are poems of a global citizen, who empathizes with the plight and struggle of her fellow beings, claims her identity and the integrity of her origins, and finds strength in all of our broken places. (Amazon)
A Sky the color of chaos: based on the true story of my Haitian Childhood by M.J. Fievre - A Sky the Color of Chaos chronicles M.J.’s perilous childhood during the turbulent rise and fall of Haiti’s President-Priest — a time of nightly shootings, home invasions, robberies, and the burning of former regime members in neighborhood streets. Haiti’s rich culture and breathtaking beauty are contrasted not only with the terror in Port-au-Prince’s streets, but also with the turmoil inside M.J.’s own home. Her father’s hot-blooded nature and unpredictable moods amplify her fevered need to escape a homeland where random violence and bloodshed are commonplace. (Goodreads)
So Spoke the Earth (English Edition): The Haiti I Knew, the Haiti I Know, the Haiti I Want to Know by M.J. Fievre - This multilingual anthology of literature about Haiti explores the country's past, present and future as experienced by its diverse inhabitants over the past four decades. Presenting each work in its original language (English, French, and Haitian Creole), SO SPOKE THE EARTH features the accounts of both Haitian and non-Haitian writers and their attempts to grapple with the impact left on them by their personal experiences with the island-nation. Through various narratives and poems, the literary legacy and unique history of the island are highlighted in content and style. This is an important anthology about Haiti in that it is a celebration of Haitian spirit, multiculturalism and diversity. 54 contributors include Edwidge Danticat, Jan Mapou, Marilene Phipps-Kettlewell, Joanne Hyppolite, Kathie Klarreich, Margaret Papillon, Gariot Pierre Louima, Nathalie Foy, Marie-Alice Theard, and many more, for an eclectic, international combination of established and emerging writers. (Goodreads)
Haiti: State Against Nation: The Origins and Legacy of Duvalierism by Michel-Rolph Trouillot - In the euphoria that followed the departure of Haiti's hated dictator, Jean-Claude Duvalier, most Haitian and foreign analysts treated the regimes of the two Duvaliers, father and son, as a historical nightmare created by the malevolent minds of the leaders and their supporters. Yet the crisis, economic and political, that faces this small Caribbean nation did not begin with the dictatorship, and is far from being solved, despite its departure from the scene. In this fascinating study, Haitian-born Michel-Rolph Trouillot examines the mechanisms through which the Duvaliers ruthlessly won and then held onto power for twenty-nine years.Trouillot's theoretical discussion focuses on the contradictory nature of the peripheral state, analyzing its relative autonomy as a manifestation of the growing disjuncture between state and nation. He discusses in detail two key characteristics of such regimes: the need for a rhetoric of "national unity" coupled with unbridled violence. At the same time, he traces the current crisis from its roots in the nineteenth-century marginalization of the peasantry through the U.S. occupation from 1915 to 1934 and into the present. He ends with a discussion of the post-Duvalier period, which, far from seeing the restoration of civilian-led democracy, has been a period of increasing violence and economic decline. (Goodreads)
