A homestuckie and a echo(fvn) enjoyer?! This means you are legally required to give all the echo cast classpects since you know everything ever about echo and homestuck, so, Please. tell -m-e- us what chunter's aspect is.
Chunter's a prince of blood
mired in cyclical suffering, given to destroying everything he has, gods speaciealest little boy? It's so obvious to me
As for the others,
Leo- Knight of Hope
Carl- Heir of Space
Tj- Mage of Life
Jenna- Seer of Heart
Flynn- Thief of Rage
Leo's so entirely like me, he gets my exact classpect. i used to hate him for it but now I love him for it
Carl I used to think could be Mind or Life aspect-wise, and possibly a bard classwise. Hell, there's an argument to be made for Witch of Space. Carl's hard to get a grasp on when it comes to these things. He's so often a non-actor in the story, but his inaction comes across as self-serving sometimes. His route lends the most credibility to both the Mind and Life aspects, in relation to Carl's need to decide what he wants without input from others as well as the decisions which granted him his family fortune. Actually. Witch of Mind Carl. Final answer.
Tj is pretty defined by his knowing of the details of the tragedy which changed everyone's life. Mages are prophets whose words both harm and benefit them. Tj is damned if he says the truth and damned if he doesn't. Keeping it in burns him and yet keeps things the way they are. Saying it frees him and yet causes everything to collapse.
Jenna's Classpect I saw coming from the beginning. Biased as she is, her every word on the conduct of her friends is correct. She manages to see through to the heart of Echo but fails to see it as anything of worth. It's a place she hates with her whole being, I think. Her problem isn't if she can see, but whether she can judge it fairly
Flynn i also saw from the beginning. Rage concerns actual rage, but also arbitrations, tangents, and contrivances. Flynn seeks to cut through all the bullshit that rage represents, which is honestly a pretty Light thing to do, but i believe he shares more in common with Blood and worldly suffering than with Breath and detatched idealism. Thieves struggle to be good, but I don't think that's flynn's thing completely. He wishes to join the two versions of his persona that exist, but this doesnt map very cleanly onto any class. Thief it is

Notice to Classpecting Blogs
For years now, I've compiled useful information from other classpecting accounts onto my computer. When classpecting, I often use this wealth of information as a reference guide.
I have since discovered, to my horror, that a large percentage of content I have saved no longer exists on the internet (due to the deletion of blogs, art accounts, etc).
That being said, though it is wildly unorganized, I am sharing my google drive with the rest of the classpecting/Homestuck community! I hope you are able to find use in it, or, at the very least, make sense of it.
ARCHIVE HERE
Much love,
Tavtiers

Note:
My blog is still active! This post does not mean I'm leaving.
Since these folders were created for personal use, they are not sourced or organized (and I sadly do not have the time to organize them).
Apologies to any classpecting blogs I did not tag! I tried to grab a handful I knew had been posting recently.
Please let me know if any links are broken.
Finally, if there are any additional blogs you would like to see linked to and/or material to be archived, feel free to let me know!

sick of mean people only being THIEVES or PRINCES or something. HEIRS CAN BE MEAN TOO!!!! give me an heir of doom that is only comforted by the inevitable, so wrapped up in his downfall he cannot give a single glance to his teammates. give me a maid of hope that is SELFISH in her sense of hope and creates/leaves hope only for herself!! a sylph of rage who only knows how to heal through constant yelling, or creates nothing but trouble and impulsiveness for her team!!!
ANY classpect can be mean guys!!!!! you just have to be creative with it!!!!!

classpect titles: identity vs. the narrative
right. here’s something i’ve been meaning to talk about for a while. the assignment of classpect titles.
before i start, i want to make something clear: i’m not here to tell anyone how to identify. i am of the opinion that everyone knows themselves best. i’m not here to tell anyone how to classpect: this is a wacky business filled to the brim with speculation. this is merely an account of my views and opinions.
the classpecting community at large, here on tumblr at least, is very concerned with one’s personality when assigning classpect titles. this approach also necessitates a focus on both class and aspect in tandem; making sense as one full concept, a one and done thing, rather than two components of a title. a title, not a name.
a prince of heart is one who destroys heart. therefore the prince must destroy heart. he cannot engage in destructive behaviour, fall into that class’ archetypal pitfalls and climb its archetypal highs, and also have an arc concerned with identity, see the world in those terms at the same time. he must always be a [destroyer of heart].
it all ends up rather stereotypical; a prince destroys, therefore the prince is bad. a knight protects, therefore the knight is good.
i find it more constructive to look at classes as archetypes, because at their origin, this is what they are. patterns of behaviour one repeats again and again, falls back on when they are at their wits’ end. this is where the narrative view of classpects comes in.
class represents the hero’s internal processes. their values. a sort of concise list of their greatest faults and greatest strengths, like horoscopes in the newspaper. made to be generic. made for the hero to grow with and past them. it makes sense then why most prefer to classpect based on personality: it is easier to look at yourself as a list of traits than it is to look at yourself as a history, a narrative path you’ve walked. actually, that brings me to a good metaphor: your class is your shoes. the trail you walk. your aspect is the scenery.
classpecting from a narrative angle requires a shift in perspective, and acknowledging one stark difference between the hero title of myself and say, the hero title of jake english. we are both hope players, yet one of us is a person. the other is a character. the title system in homestuck is made around characters. the game is deliberately set up to help its players grow, and in doing that sets them on a path loosely defined by their title. people are a bit more complicated.
seeing yourself as a character isn’t easy. it’s almost impossible. characterhood is objective; personhood is not. in a story, we see its characters’ entire arcs in one line, we can clearly identify the inflection points in their stories and which themes repeat again and again. but as people our lives are ongoing; we are not afforded the same omnipotence, the ability to see time all at once.
class is incredibly hard to determine because of this. aspect is a bit easier. it is the themes that repeat again and again in our lives, a backdrop for all else to happen. it is a lens through which we see and understand the world. a light player might see their world as a story. a heart player might see the world as a tangle of identities rubbing up against and affecting each other. the possibilities are as endless as paradox space, which is to say not at all or quite a lot, depending on how you look at things. and how big you are in the scheme of them.
of course some measure of both narrative and personality classpecting must be employed for the most accurate outcome to be produced. one cannot look at the forest’s reflection in the lake and claim to know the beasts within. one cannot build a house with only bricks. but a healthy harmony should be strived towards in order for the result to be most accurate.
if you would like to read some posts from people who know these things better than me, i recommend @classpect-navelgazing, particularly their masterpost, and @urcharactersclasspect, whose opinions i found very particularly eye-opening.

honestly, comparing how active of players Rose and Terezi are and how passive Sollux is (perhaps Meulin as well, but I know less about her) I'm tempted to think that Seers are the active class and Mages are the passive class.
Rose rips apart her planet to find information and does extensive research to plot a mission to destroy the green sun that she intends to do herself. Terezi has a lot to say about the nature of choice (which corresponds with her aspect of mind). A quote specifically brought to my mind was how she said something about how "people see reality as something happening to them, when it's really something that people are shaping every moment." Yeah I'm paraphrasing but you get it. She's also rly good at reading and manipulating people. This is all without even mentioning what she did to direct the retcon.
All in all, the seers that have the most screen time are very active players rather than passive ones. And while I adore Sollux, afaik he doesn't do a ton on his own? He starts the game, but only because Aradia tricked him. Despite how Terezi views it, reality seems very much like something that's happening to him instead of him happening to reality. Sacrificing himself to transport the meteor is the only thing I can think of that could push him more towards being an active player.
Obviously, this is all speculation, like the vast majority of classpecting. And I don't remember anything that Calliope said in her classpecting exposition, so for all I know I could be spouting nonsense that directly contradicts the text.
But still I make this point: Seers are very active while Mages are more passive. Anyone can add to this or refute this, especially someone who knows more about the alpha trolls than me! I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts ^_^

🔥 - Classpects
[For the Unpopular Opinions Ask Game!!]
They are genuinely really not that hard to understand I’m going to be completely honest. Figuring them out doesn’t make you a rocket scientist. As I always say:
Aspect is the core element of someone’s character, while Class defines their relationship with that element. Or, in other words, the main concept behind their character, and how they interact with that concept.
“Prince of Heart”, for example, isn’t hard to understand- it just means “Character who Actively (-) Destroys (Prince) Heart, Soul, Emotions, and Identity (Heart) in Themself and Others.”
Also, sometimes the Extended Zodiac quiz is straight up wrong about what certain Aspects mean. Heart and Rage especially- Heart is written by a guy who thinks Dirk is the only Heartbound character to ever exist and failed to take into account that he’s a Destructive Class, and Rage is written by a total cop.
Fun Fact: One time I said that the Extended Zodiac quiz is wrong earlier in my blogging career, and people started vagueposting about me on an Anonymous Confessions blog. That was really funny, and it was not the only time that happened.

would lovelovelove to hear ur take on the rage aspect in general.
You've actually asked me about my favorite aspect and I will GLADLY take this opportunity to ramble about it (and, I suppose, touch a bit on its inverse as well). I actually wish I was this aspect instead sometimes; I present as very punk in my offline life and every Ragebound I've met has always been the most delightful company I've ever kept. (I suppose that might also be a very Heartbound thing to wish for, to be of another aspect...)
Of the twelve aspects, I will argue that Rage and Hope are the most commonly and grossly misunderstood. When they are flattened into one dimensional concepts, they are flattened into words that are not even in the realm of correct. Because of what we see in canon, Rage and Hope tend to get flattened into the "angry aspect" and the "positive aspect". These are incorrect understandings. Hope is about ideology and the systems built by them (such as government, or organized religion). Rage is about activism and digging out the truth. It is a very active aspect.
From The Extended Zodiac, I pulled these keywords from the Rage Aspect description. These would be the "canon" traits; they are what I adhere to when analyzing, but it should also be understood that this concept encompasses much more to do with than these keywords. Its "vibe", if you will, is much more than what is written.
TEZ Rage Keywords: Chaos, contempt, truth-seekers, doubters, stubborn, volatile, unpredictable, original, revolutionary, fearless, (cruel, uncompromising, vicious)
The words I chose to represent Rage in my analyses of the classpects are "Skepticism, Truth-seeking, Rebellion, Stubbornness". Like the other aspects, Rage is not an inherently good or bad aspect; it is neutral in its purest form.
Rage is what brings change. It is rebellion against unfair government systems, it is breaking free of internal biases, it is going out and finding the truth outside of the propaganda you have been fed. Rage aligns with punk very well, and I would be willing to argue that many of those in the punk subculture are Ragebound or know several Ragebound, and this is because to be punk is to rebel against wider societal views. You'll find many queer people in the punk subculture, for example, even if they are not Ragebound, because of how wider society views queer people.
Not all punks are Ragebound, and not all Rage is punk (though, much of it is). Rage is also activism. It is organized rallies and protests. It is essays that carefully deconstruct internal biases and point out what is and isn't propaganda. It is not believing what you are told about something because you'd rather get first hand experience or research it yourself than hear it from the mouth of anyone else.
I cannot speak of Gamzee and Kurloz as they are presented in canon, because... their characters were either written very messily or just not written at all. They are both destroyer classes, which tends to skew the understanding of an aspect as well. However, I would think that Gamzee and Kurloz's arcs, if written out with intentions of having them be properly developed as characters, would include becoming aware that their beliefs were built on faulty premises, turning against their cult beliefs, and tearing it down; using Rage to destroy what had (passively or actively) destroyed them.
(I would like to joke that Gamzee and Kurloz had to be written poorly. If they were ever written as a fully realized Bard of Rage or Prince of Rage, Homestuck would have been over the moment they accepted their true aspect and began using it to destroy the Condesce and Lord English. Those two classpects are particularly powerful.)

*gently grabs the face of everyone who genuinely thinks the Space-bound are fundamentally or inherently lonely* please, listen.
You are reading a narrative that has been orchestrated and wrapped in a vice grip by a never ending loop of Time. When so much of everything is tied up in your cosmic opposite, anything that falls free seems alone. When everything is far away, you may feel lonely, yes, but you also want to reach across that distance to find connection, to reach your friends, to reach your family.
Jade, with her alternate universe child grandpa penpal.
Kanaya, with her future wife’s incomplete walkthrough to the game.
Calliope, with the ring of life that carried her forward into a new world, full of possibilities that her alternate doomed self encouraged her to explore.
All of them, connected to people they have never met through the internet.
This is what Space is. It’s not being lonely or alone or isolated, it’s reaching out, crossing that bridge, closing the gap, extending a hand as you greet a friend. The Space-bound are surrounded by distance and that may have a side effect of loneliness, but they are not defined by it. They don’t stay lonely; they break through the window and go where they want to be.

the knight class & its connotations
"the active exploit class, the knight’s job is to protect their aspect or to protect with their aspect”. they will often end up protecting their allies who lack in the knights own aspect, and these protective tendencies are why they are often seen helping with frog breeding. typically, they are also protectors of the aspect itself, making sure it cant be destroyed in the session. all this protecting makes the knight's challenge learning other's capability in their aspect, growing to know that they are capable themselves."
knights arent as self-introspective as other active classes. lets compare it to a mage & a maid. aradia, maid of time, was busy visiting and "cleaning up" centuries worth of doomed timelines. as a play on words she was made of time, and very connected to her own aspect in that sense. sollux, mage of doom, knew a lot about sgrub (aka the game that would bring their doom) and although like a typical mage he had emotionally dealt with this dread, he still worked hard to split the trolls into teams and start their game, being very active and kind of confident in/with his abundant knowledge of his aspect.
another very strong contrast to a knight is a thief, one of the most self-serving active classes. vriska, thief of light, stole ideas and knowledge for herself. a thief's challenge is literally learning to share their aspect with others! overall, they are the most possesive of their own aspect and using it on/for themselves.
but when it comes to knights, they can be at a loss for how to use their own aspect on themselves. because like a real knight, they serve their aspect. this serving is done through harnessing their aspect as a weapon, and protecting allies either with that aspect or just protecting allies who lack in that aspect. because of all this self-righteousness and sense of protecting and serving, knights are at a loss for how to connect their aspect to themselves. after all, if you only weaponize your aspect how could you use a weapon on yourself?
a great example of a knight is karkat vantas, knight of blood. blood is representing of relationships, bonds, connections with other people, and sometimes just the blood in your body. physically, karkat is assumingly the weakest troll, a mutant in blood. but his vast knowledge in quadrants and overall with his servitude to his friendships, he protects the bonds he has with his friends and takes great care to them, keeping the group of trolls away from any heavy conflict in sgrub. this attitude to blood also makes him a great leader, able to easily rally even the most uncooperative of his friends and leading them to defeating the black king. but he wasnt very good at reflecting these bonds on himself. karkat often dealt with self-esteem issues and viewing himself as the most physically weak, and this is because of the very blood in his body. he hasn't accepted his own worth in his friendships or on the hemocaste of alternia. so as a result, he hides his blood color and his worth to his own aspect.
another example is dave strider, knight of time. he actively served through time, constantly going through and making stable time loops and overall increasing/exploiting the mechanical (time-related word!!) efficiency of sburb. but a negative aspect on time can be how dave used its "mechanical" attributes in other ways. this was through the emasculating but abusive outlook he was raised on. overall dave had a very rigid childhood, and tries to keep up an almost mechanical stoic outlook because of this.
one of the knights i really wish we got more of was latula pyrope, knight of mind. compared to the previous knights there's practically nothing we can take from her that isn't in the openbound segments. i assume she could have been strategically (mind-related word) helpful throughout the alpha trolls' session, serving the logic of her friend's and logic itself. but she also is seemingly concealing a deeper part of herself. this is shown when latula and porrim meet in openbound, and when porrim tells her to "drop the skater act", she immediately does and starts talking in a more relaxed way. it's obvious latula keeps this over-the-top front to somehow maintain a sort of strategy. overall i just really wish we got more of the alpha trolls somehow T_T!!!
thanks sm for reading!!
