Not me replaying StB and realizing that when we come out of Doma Castle without Gosetsu in tow, the reactions from the twins and Lyse are reflections of exactly what they've been through.

Alphinaud has been Through Some Shit in HW and knows without words what's happened by the looks on the faces of WoL/Hien/Yugiri and Cirina's open sobbing. He's there to move things forward because he knows grief is a luxury.

Alisae picks up on it too but still voices a "...Tell me it was not for nothing." because unlike her brother, she'd spent enough time with Gosetsu to understand why he's not present. She knows he'd made the noble sacrifice and gotten the other three out alive, so she honors the man's memory as best she can.

Lyse is a beacon of hope even when the entire group is giving it up. She wants to know what happened, where Gosetsu is. Much like how she refuses time and again to give up on her dream of seeing every subjugated nation free from Garlean rule, she struggles to accept that he's gone.

and oh my god Hien can't even look at much less speak to his friends because he blames himself for something Gosetsu gave him no choice over.
