Personally, I don’t think it hurts so long as you apply it the right way. I’ve tried several brands and they seem to all work fine, but my all time favorite is Cirepil. It’s a French brand, but you should be able to find it online. My main tips for waxing are 1) make sure your hair isn’t too long, and 2) clean and dry skin is necessary. If you have trouble with getting the right dryness (in case you notice your skin gets clammy with the wax, use a little bit of baby powder. There are different types of waxes depending on the coarseness of the hair and the area you need to apply it to. It’s generally easy and mess free.

I have a small mirror on a stand that I put on the bathroom floor, and then I just sit down and go spread eagle. It’s like yoga and self grooming all in one.

I’ve also tried sugaring/sugar wax, but I have not liked it at all.

When it comes to shaving, make sure you are buying a razor with several blades. Use a moisturizing body lotion (like dove liquid soap, it literally feels like butter) or even hair conditioner. It literally glides much better than with soap or shaving cream. Don’t go too fast.

Before any kind of hair removal, gently exfoliate beforehand, never after.

Also, make sure to use either rubbing alcohol diluted with a bit of water or hydrogen peroxide to clean your pores after any kind of hair removal. Pure alcohol will just sting, hydrogen peroxide is gentler. This will keep you from getting any razor bumps, ingrown hairs, or possibly any infections. Literally this works like gold for me. Just make sure you don’t put any on your inner labia 😂 if it stings too much, just hop in the shower and wash it off with lukewarm water.

I usually wait a few hours after shaving or waxing before applying any kind of lotion or anything like that. You should be good to go.

This is just what works for me personally. It’s been trial and error, but overall I think using hard wax at home pretty safe since it doesn’t require height temperature. Remember to clean yourself, your hands, and use clean tools.
