also, michael edwards was a massive piece of shit to both lisa and priscilla. there are parts of his book where he talks about how he violently domestically abused priscilla, choked her, made her have to run and hide from him etc. skimming through all that to pull *one* story from his book that you like because it makes cilla look like a violent, bad mother is so. so disturbing that i’m struggling to wrap my mind around it.
believing someone’s abuser and their child’s abuser but refusing to believe the woman herself on anything is absolutely rancid. nor are people stupid for not wanting to do that themselves. be better. please. attaching elvis library’s review below, with a reminder that he’s 100% neutral on priscilla and is so objective in his reviews that i sometimes disagree with him.

well, i think it's pretty clear what i think about this movie, no? 😅
naturally, it will be "taken out of context" because just like her book, there's plenty of untruths in it. plain and simple lies. this movie is going to (is already doing such) bomb us with haters that don't know anything about elvis presley and think how this movie portrays him is real, just as the weird ass priscilla books they're reading.
there's been elvis haters forever, we all know this, but i'm just sick and tired. i can't say it enough. priscilla is a vile woman that has told lie after lie. she's not a victim. she's not a helpless widow that is withering away. she's literally using her dead ex-husband's name and money for fame, how are we NOT talking about how icky this is? truly frightening.
and sofia coppolo or whatever the hell her name is can kiss my ass. as well as the cast of that movie and everyone involved. let elvis presley rest, motherfuckers.
(i will forever use this bc it makes me have a giggle. and it's the damn truth- she might as well tattoo it on her forehead.)

I just finished Elvis and Me by Priscilla Beaulieu Presley and oml it is so good! Highly recommend to any of the elvis girlies. Also I suggest the audio book becuase you can her it from Cillas voice and it's just so amazingly emotional. The last few chapters made me cry sm 🤧. I love how she shows the good the bad and the ugly but makes it clear that this book is to show what a great person he was and how much she loved him.

#do you know the backstory about how e didn’t even particularly want to record that song#because he was very much dealing with sadness and frustration that he and cilla's marriage was falling apart#wallowing through the difficulty of that affected his state of mind. he was reluctant to sing anything but ballads while Going Through It#he only agreed to record burning love to indulge his producer encouraging it#and they were worried the takes were half-hearted despite the rock and roll energy of the song#until finally he got enough into it that he even improvised that bit at the end (in very classic sun records elvis presley™ style)#and they were like: thank god. that's the one#but e didn't consider it that significant. and then it became iconic and a huge hit. imagine if he'd tossed out burning love!#but i think if you listen to it closely enough you catch the edge in his voice of everything going on.#only instead of blunting the song it enhances it. that slight franticness of wanting#anyway as usual i have many feelings#anonymous#letterbox#i was a dreamer
