What a time to be alive.
CIH staff and contributors have made such amazing progress this month on the site and its lore, we’re finally confident enough to give you all a SOFT OPEN DATE! We want to thank everyone for their support, hype, telling their friends, and all the kindness and patience with us through this entire process. Honestly, your encouragement and excitement really amped everything up, and we could not be looking more forward to writing with you all VERY SOON.
That said, our SOFT OPEN DATE is WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST. A week from today!
We will open our discord up for everyone to join at that time, as well as our site so everyone can start working on their characters.
We do not have a time in mind of when this will happen, but it will likely be around afternoon time PST, provided there are no unforeseen hiccups.
This date is subject to change due to those unruly aforementioned bumps, but we will keep everyone updated!
Please also keep in mind:
There may be stuff added to the site as we move things around that are not on the tumblr or haven’t been revealed. We try to get content out as much as we are able, but we want to ensure most time is spent getting everything together for our soft launch date. This shouldn’t impact anyone’s plotting so far, and if it does, we will update before then.
There will be a skin change shortly after we open. Some features of the current skin are not in (like active topic lists on the main page) because the temporary skin we are using in the mean time does not support that. The new skin will have more automated code for claims, reserves and others, so please bear with us for that transition and upkeeping these things manually. We’re just so excited to write with everyone and want to go before the exclusive skin is finished. If this bothers you, we apologize. We are going to make it as easy as a moreover as possible. All you will likely need to do is add a couple more graphics in sections, but your posts, dev, etc. will remain in tact.

WANTED: Characters in an Anastasia inspired plot
This is a wanted ad loosely inspired by the plot of the 1997 animated masterpiece, Anastasia, but you don’t have to have seen it or really know too much about it to participate. Just bring the right vibes and off we go~
Anyway, to sum up, the basic premise is that our Anastasia (Esme Harlow) is currently an essential part of a con-job involving the Dimitri and the Vlad with the Dowager Empress as their target. The DE is the last living member of a prestigous witch family (the Lombard’s who are throughly embedded in the current regime and were/are important figures in witch society) or so many have assumed. The real story is that the DE’s niece also survived the tragic attack on their family during the revolt but was believed drowned following a difficult escape. That niece just so happens to be our Anastasia, not that authenticity was ever a concern for the Dimitri or the Vlad who were prepared simply to find a good lookalike and go. Now the aim of their con is to take the DE’s reward money (something that she’s been offering on and off for several years in the hopes of finding her niece who she swears didn’t actually drown) but perhaps there might be something more valuable at stake...
In any case the Anastasia is surprisingly unaware of the true depravities of her fellow conmen, fully taken in by the promise of adventure and simply ‘exploring the possibility of an identity’. Or is she? She’s not quite as naive as they think and has an idea of the prize that’s at stake, not to mention the risk that she personally will be taking in the con. So anything goes... I mean there might be cause for a rift between the trio at some point.
Now, on the other side of things, is the Rasputin who was part of the group of individuals who murdered the Lombards during the revolt. They had something of a personal grudge against them and happily took part in a largely political plot organized against the witch family by another group. They were supposed to take the DE and the Anastasia hostage but suceeded only in capturing the Anastasia on a hazardous crossing of the sea. Nearly drowning her, they were forcibly stopped by the group before yet more hell broke loose and they lost track of her completely. Flash forward fourteen years and the Rasputin is in a very different state indeed, but who should come waltzing in to Salem but the little girl they almost killed all those years ago? Man, are they pissed.
THE ANASTASIA: (Taken by Bex)
(Witch) - Here for a good time and to find herself; unaware of her true family and all that history.
THE DIMITRI: (Open)
(Shifter/Ex-Familiar or Open) - A conman out to make their fortune and possibly assuage a guilty conscience. They might also have something of a past with the Lombards...
THE VLAD: (Open)
(Witch) - Cast out of the fold for illegal practices, they’re part of the con in the hopes of regaining their place in witch society. Currently functioning as a familial figure to the Dimitri and surprisingly cheery for an outcast.
THE RASPUTIN: (Open)
(Human/Fae/Vampire) - Here to wreak havoc and get their own personal revenge, whether they still have contact with the original group out to get the Lombards is another matter... The years have not been kind.
THE DOWAGER EMPRESS: (Open)
(Witch) - The last surviving member of the Lombards who still wields power in Salem. Of French origin, they might just be tiring of a hopeless search for a lost niece, assumed dead by everyone else.

How do I even begin to explain Clara Moon? Clara Moon is flawless. She has 2 Fendi purses and a silver Lexis. I hear her hair is insured for $10,000. I hear she does car commercials... in Japan. Her favorite movie is Varisity Blues. One time, she met John Stamos on a plane. And he told her she was pretty. One time, she punched me in the face... it was awesome!
If you live in Salem, chances are you’ve at least heard of Clara Moon. And i you haven’t... well, that’s just embarrassing for you. A socialite of the highest social standing, if you’re her friend then you should consider yourself lucky, and if you aren’t her friend, then you probably want to be. She’s got an eye for the lovely and a penchant for chaos, with a charming smile to back it all up. Don’t let her get bored, because that usually brings trouble, and the next day Clara will 100% be gossiping about you to her circle of friends. It would be easy to assume that Clara cares only for herself but the truth of the matter is that she is absolute trash for her husband, one Sado Moon, and of course their numerous furbabies that she would kill for, make no mistake.
NEEDS: Rich, fashionable, important friends. Frenemies. Business partners of her husband for Clara to schmooze. Dog lovers so she can arrange puppy playdates. Idk maybe a book club. Young vampires who look up to her so she can give them uh... Clara’s version of good advice. Maybe a couple of like... actual genuine friends.

if you had to pick a writing genre, which genre: fantasy, sci-fi, and supernatural drama are my Big Three
three spices that describe your writing and why:
cinnamon, because there's something warm and comforting about it, but it can still be a bit spicy, so there's a good variety in its presence, but you can still recognize it right away when it's in stuff (aka: i'm pretty sure that i have a recognizable writing style? idk, i just like cinnamon :') )
salt, because doing things out of spite is just a lot of fun (aka: oh, that overused trope? let's take that and make it fun again!)
garlic powder, because garlic is just. so good all the time. (aka: i hope people enjoy writing with me....and also garlic has that silly association with vampires and i just love those bloodsuckers. so.)
anything you’d like to see on cih: a welcoming, fun community, with lots of opportunities for plotting and developing a variety of characters and relationships.

Thyme. Practical and somewhat conservative. You’re ambitious and determined, mostly when it comes to being there for and helping the people closest to you. You value your close friends and family more than anything, and you’d never let them down or do anything to disappoint them.
Nutmeg. Naturally artistic, creative, compassionate, and care deeply about close relationships with friends and family. Have a core group of people who support you no matter what, and they also know they can rely on you whenever they need a true friend. You’re kind and caring, but you also have a fun side and know how to liven up a party.

The name green earth is applied to several different minerals, but most importantly in medieval painting is the light, cold green of celadonite, a natural mineral found chiefly in small deposits in rock in the area of Verona, Italy. The mass tone of green earth is an unexciting, dull green. The color varies according to its origin, ranging from a light bluish gray with a greenish cast to a dark, brownish olive.
Often confused with a pale brown, green earth sits between green and yellow. It is an earthy color that transmits a sense of peacefulness, yet it is cold rather than warm.
Medieval artists used green earth pigment extensively as a preparatory underpainting for the representation of flesh tones. The green earth which now dominates many of the paintings of the period is the result of the lighter flesh tones which have faded. It is a color to build upon, but far stronger and longer lasting than those painted upon it.
It is calm, resilient, and evokes a sense of peaceful solitude.

A generation that has been spoken about for eons in the Sjöberg family, a generation that the elders have been waiting for or so they think. A Father obsessed with the end of the world, or better yet the world as it has been known for years before the revolution. A chance to truly end all of those who are not worthy of living amongst the witches. Wylie Fitzgerald || Coyote Shifter || 23 || Katherine McNamara
If you were hoping for someone sweet and kind and endearing then sorry, but Wylie Fitzgerald is like... the absolute opposite of what you’re looking for. Don’t let the pretty face fool you, because she’s all bite and no bark. Her nickname is Trash Coyote for a reason. The literal embodiment of “She’s smart, but so so dumb”, Wylie has only a single brain cell which she sometimes misplaces. She attributes the bad things that have happened to her to bad luck but really, her bad decisions are the real reason behind them. She works as a bartender at some dive bar than has uh... less than stellar clientele and is currently struggling to pay of some debts she has to the exact wrong people. Honestly, Wylie’s whole life could probably be used as a cautionary tale, and when she says she’s fine, Wylie is 100% lying.
Needs: Regulars that she knows from the shitty bar where she works, mechanics that she knows because her shitty car is perpetually breaking down, drinking buddies, just regular buddies who will be the cinnamon rolls to her grumpy. Hook-ups. Maybe a friend with benefits. Someone that Wylie 100% does not have a thing for but oops maybe she did catch feelings she just doesn’t want to admit it. Half-siblings on her dad’s side. henry’s an old OC of mine that i’ve repurposed about six or seven times over the years (????). i made him back in...2015? 2016? and he used to be a werewolf, but i’m really digging the vampire ideas here so i’m trying something new with him!
(also because immortal idris elba is the best idris elba, lbr)

he doesn’t remember much about his life before he was sired, just that it wasn’t pleasant, and he doesn’t feel like it’s been much of a loss to put it behind him; that said, every now and again he’ll meet someone that he gets a sense of deja vu over, and he’ll assume they remind him of someone he knew way back when, and he’ll be begrudgingly invested in them
because he barely remembers his own origins, he’s taken it upon himself to try to remember all that he can about other people. this has served him pretty well over the years, both as an attentive and considerate ally, and as a ruthless and daunting adversary
he loves the written word, and has definitely, 100% written a whole slew of novels over the years under various pennames. and, yeah, absolutely has written some terrible supernatural romance novels over the decades. he’s not sorry about it :’)

honestly, before, when she needed to hide her magic, she was quiet and reserved, and considered a bit of an eccentric oddball, but since then she’s broken out of her shell (like a selina kyle in batman returns kind of readjustment), and she’s now more assertive and playful (and a bit meddling, too, tbh)
owns an equally eccentric oddball shop that’s half antique store and half is pawn shop
used to be married/ in a long-term relationship, and is still sore about it falling apart, even though it’s been a while (so if anyone needs a literal witch of an ex-wife, lemme know!)
a huge supporter of vengeance; ironically, not in her own life, but she’s definitely that friend who encourages you to get revenge against someone that hurt you, bc You Deserve It!
