julian had flipped out and gone off of owen, landon and sophia after they found out that summer was going to die. all of them had stormed out of the hospital but both landon and owen had decided to get drunk together at a bar and they hadn’t planned on stopping until they were passed out or dead. both of them knew neither one of them should have been driving but they didn’t care. owen was driving and landon was next to him, they had the music blaring and they continued to drink even in the car. before they could even react owen swerved to avoid another car and he lost control as the car swerved off the road while they were crossing a bridge over the lake. landon his head head on the window and knocked himself out but owen was still awake when the car landed in the lake and began to sink. owen panicked as the car filled with water and he tried to shake landon awake but he wouldn’t wake up. he did his best to try and pull landon, but landon was dead weight and owen didn’t know if he would be able to pull landon out of the water. the car filled completely and owen didn’t know how long he could hold his breath but he used all of the strength he could and pulled landon out of the car window. it was hard for owen to swim with landon who was just keeping him down. for a moment he thought that if he didn’t just let landon go, neither one of them would make it but owen refused to leave his brother to die. someone had called 911 when they saw what happened and as owen was losing oxygen trying to save landon, he started to fade too and in that moment he knew he and landon were both dead. but help came fast and owen felt himself being lifted out of the water, he was still conscious but barely, landon was still passed out and the paramedics couldn’t wake him up.

For the longest moment he just stares at the kid with something of a sunken look. He seemed to be thinking, a million thoughts going a million miles an hour. He just watched him, wondering what thoughts were blistering through his mind. He was a broken kid, laying on top of the bones of who he had once been. Wasn't that the case for all of these soldiers? It was true, he had witnessed it more times than he could count. However shedding light on it meant that there had to be something that would stand out to make it front page news. And then he starts laughing and Gabriel can do little to nothing but roll his eyes. Of course he would go that route. Most people didn't want to speak out about their experiences but he had to press, had to dig in and had to unearth the insides of these soldiers. Maybe he would be called ruthless but that hardly mattered when he was doing it for the better of them. All of his work would eventually show that whatever the world wanted everyone to believe would eventual fall apart. "Don't make a joke of this." He stated somewhat dryly as he leaned back in his seat, watching Mat somewhat closely. There's a heavy feeling that dawned over him and he tried to seek out some semblance of seriousness there in the boy's eyes. "Tell me more about it. Are there…" his voice lowered then as he leaned towards the bed that Mat was on. "…are there really experiments?"

Heyyya. Hope you are well. I have like alooot of questions but one that's been on my mind is Gabriel an RO? Like he had ♥️ options so I was wondering. Also I love the dynamics for the ROs. With Amelia is basically falling for the type of creature that you are literally paid to kill, Arlo is a shared history and aloot of abandonment issues and with Eddie it's a genuine friendship but also he has his own demons along with the fact I doubt most werewolves would love the idea of a vampire and one of their own being together. So aloooot of angst to be had and I'm kinda excited for it.

Gabriel is an ROish because he won’t have as much content as the 3 main ROs. So I guess the term “fling” is a good word to describe it. I don’t like saying ‘side romance’ bc to me side romances are romances you can still romance while you pursue a main romance. Whereas Gabriel is someone you can have fun with only if you don’t choose a main RO.

But like he said in ch 3, he has to leave for a bit, so he won’t have much content for a bit ie ‘ish’

landon had just been released from the hospital and although he was ordered to stay home and rest, he ended up sneaking out with owen to find ella. “bro, we just pissed mom off, you really wanna piss her off again? dad too?” owen was driving and landon still had a splitting headache. “i don’t give a shit, i need to talk to ella...” owen shook his head and continued driving, landon directed him to the dock where ella’s dad kept his boat, it was the first place he thought to look. “do you see the boat?” owen asked as he helped his brother out of the car. “yeah, its the one on the end there...it looks like she’s on it.”
