2/18/24.
After a few seconds of listening to "Land of Glacier" I assumed Penny Arcade was a 1980s British indie band. The melodic guitar and vocals reminded me of any number of C86 bands. The vocals are perfectly situtated between Chrissy Hynde and Lloyd Cole.
While Penny Arcade were active in the 1980s, they originally formed in Tokyo, Japan. KiliKiliVilla (we covered the excellent 800 Cherries release a couple months ago) remastered tracks and released a compilation CD, "A Girl From Penny Arcade" back in 2016. This led to the band reforming, and now a 7" of their first new music in decades.

The Pretenders and the Kinks linked forever. Even though Ray and Chrissy never got there. (to forever)

SONG OF THE DAY - April 2, 2023 I was fortunate to see the Pretenders in Dallas in the 80s. Chrissy is a powerhouse. I loved this record.
