Um... hi everyone!! 😊👋 it's been a while 😅
So just thought I'd give you guys a little update about my life and where I've been. About halfway through last year, I was having a hard time with some life stuff and it really tanked my creativity and motivation. Hard. I haven't really worked on any projects since and it's been pretty tough trying to get back into it too. But!! Every now and then I check my Tumblr feed and my AO3 page and I've really appreciated everyone's continued support of my works even despite me basically disappearing for over a year 😅😭
I've come to really miss writing and I'd love to get back into it, so I think I'm going to try. Slowly, but try 😂 so if any of you have any prompts or ideas, please feel free to shoot me an ask!! I'd greatly appreciate it 😊 in the meantime, I hope to see you all again soon 😊😎

It was only three episodes ago that Ahsoka was telling Din that Grogu has a very strong attachment to him, so strong that she advised him to let Grogu's powers fade rather than train him. Ultimately, she knew it wasn't up to her, which led them to Tython, and there Grogu was going to choose his own path. It just seemed so implicit that Ahsoka and Grogu already knew what he was going to decide.
And when the time came, Grogu looked between the man who became his father and a stranger and he chose to leave.
What happened to choosing Din?

It's absolutely incredible to me that Din thinks he can just give Grogu away, so much so that he has to give himself Grogu a speech about how when they find the Jedi, he has to go with them, because that's what Din was assigned to do and there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
And Grogu kept on playing with his toy and said, "Okay, Dad, love you."
"Love you too."

Okay I know this must be redundant by now, but I shall say it again: the act of Din removing his helmet, revealing himself to that room full of Imperials + Mayfeld just solidifies how far Din is willing to go to save his son. From EPISODE ONE people have been trying to see underneath the helmet and Din has been quite adamant about the helmet stays on to the point it was drilled into our heads as the audience. So as soon as he removes it of his own volition!!! For the sake of his son!!!! It's a big freaking deal!!!!! It was an excellent visual indicator that Din is not messing around and just how important Grogu is to him

I find it so endearing how much Din likes Baby's name. He called Grogu twice just to see the baby look up at him, and he got all chuckley and cute. You know he was smiling beneath the helmet!!

So like, Ahsoka right?
I don't think Ahsoka would actually take Baby away from Din, even if he tried giving Baby to her. It almost seems like (at least to me) it's not the right time yet (or maybe I just don't want Mando and baby to separate, ever). But still, the question remains, when Din finally finds Ahsoka, what will come of it?
I suppose we don't really know. My best guess would be the "wise mentor" type, someone who could tell Din about the Force, what it is, how it works, the Jedi, the Sith, even the Mandalorians before the Siege of Mandalore and the Purge. She can also inform Din about Yoda, who Ahsoka will undoubtedly recognize the baby to be of the same species. About how Yoda was a strong Force user and how the baby seems to be the same.
How will Ahsoka and Baby interact? While I definitely want cuteness, and I'm sure we'll get some, I also want to see them be able to communicate, specifically through the Force. Maybe she tells Din how much the baby looks up to him/how he views him. Maybe Din will have a strong reaction to it, or extremely mixed emotions. Maybe we'll get back story on Baby, where he's been for the 50 years up to meeting his dad. Maybe we'll get a little training montage with Baby and Ahsoka! There are a lot of options here!!!
I'm definitely wondering how the episode will end too. Like.... Perhaps Ahsoka does agree to take the baby. It's just the best thing to do, with the baby being so strong and Gideon alive. They know the baby is with Din, so passing him off to Ahsoka to buy time isn't a bad idea. They say their goodbyes, and Din feels unsure, he's extremely hesitant, but Ahsoka seems nice, right? The baby understands enough but not enough too. We see him cry for the first time, call out to Din and Din freezes. He wants nothing more than to turn around. He realizes, too late, that he does want the kid. That's his kid.
But he keeps on walking, even if it hurts. He did what the Armorer told him. He returned the child to his people. Din is not his people. He sits down, powers up the Crest, and he sees something, anything, a reminder and we get this zoom in on his visor and it's a straight up call back to the scene in episode 3. And he gets up and leaves.
He finds Ahsoka and the baby pretty quickly. They had never left. He marches straight up to her ship, and the baby is running right into his arms, and it feels right. Ahsoka smiles warmly at the sight of father and son. It seems they all knew that Din was never going to leave the child.
And then Gideon shows up.

So I know we all wanted feral, unhinged Din in the finale (and imho we could've gotten more lajdlfmahdjd) BUT now I want to see Din in the aftermath. I think he was so one-track minded on getting the kid back that as soon as he gets a moment of privacy, he's going to finally be able to process everything that had happened and spiral into a full-on mental breakdown and I'm lowkey here for it

initial thoughts on chapter 10
Okay, I just got finished watching the new episode and I feel like I need to write down some ~thoughts~
THE WHOLE INTRO SEQUENCE
I LOVED IT SO MUCH
That is exactly the content I want and I need more!!
Also, interesting to see it take place immediately after episode 9... Normally there are time jumps but not this time I suppose. Was Boba still watching from afar perhaps?

what’s the endgame here?
One of my favorite things about The Mandalorian is that it’s gotten us theorizing, making headcanons and meta posts, and excited to see what’s going to happen next. Like, we’re pushing through the week to Friday to get that delicious 35-45 minutes of serotonin just to start over again (till the season finale at least but let’s ignore that for now). But for the last couple weeks, my brain has been going BONKERS trying to figure out this: what’s the endgame of this show?
Just extrapolating from other pieces of media we’ve consumed, the most logical way the storyline would progress is a final FINAL big showdown of Din VS Moff Gideon, all in an attempt to save Grogu of course. They’d probably bring in old characters and it’ll be cool and stuff, right? But what happens then? Wouldn’t another Imp be assigned to the same mission and cause Din and Baby to go on the run again? We sort of see a smaller scale version of this in season one, when it was all about the Client wanting to take Grogu, just for him to be killed and be replaced with Gideon (who is a lot more intimidating of a villain in my opinion so I’m glad). We can assume that they’re wanting Grogu because of Mr. Palpatine? Although it does really seem that Gideon has is own agenda here, like maybe he’s trying to see if Force-sensitivity is transferable or something.
See, this is how I originally thought season two was going to end: Din is finally starting to realize that maybe he doesn’t want to give up the kid, or that Grogu would rather stay with him than be separated. But before we could get any emotional payoff, Moff Gideon shows up and there would be a battle. Only this time, when Din goes down, he stays down, or at least he’s so injured/held at gunpoint that he’s out of options. There is a lot of angsty/whump scenarios that could happen here, like Moff threatening to kill someone/Grogu unless Din removes his helmet, just to really gut-punch us. But either way, Moff Gideon takes Grogu and... that’s it. Screen goes black. (We would HATE it but c’mon, it’d also be a great cliff hanger. Either that or I’m a sadist XD)
THEN season three would be all about getting Baby back. Maybe Din kind of loses himself in chasing down the Empire. He reverts back to the cold bounty hunter we saw in episode one. He would definitely go through an extreme identity crisis and question his place in the child’s life, as well as question how much the kid actually means to him. And then at the end of the season, he kills Gideon, maybe Doctor Pershing too and all his research, and they ride off into the sunset. (Although my ideal ending would definitely be him reuniting with Omera LOL but I’m self-indulgent like that.)
I think we just need to see how these next two episodes play out... I could only assume that they reunite by the end (I am hoping for a happy ending here). But I’m just interested in how they would continue the show for a whole other season. Like, is another Jedi actually going to show up? One we know or a completely new character? Will Din finally realize that’s not what he or the baby wants? The possibilities!!!

What made up my mind about Din Djarin
So I’ve been thinking about it, and I’ve come to realize that there was a quintessential moment during my viewing of The Mandalorian that made me go from loving Din Djarin to Loving Din Djarin. And it’s this scene:
THIS. HECKING. SCENE.
One of the points of episode one was to introduce Din’s character as the Mandalorian, and we got a pretty good idea of who we were meant to follow within the first few minutes with the cantina fight scene. He was calm, collected, skilled, and got the job done fairly quickly, all the meanwhile seeming almost bored. And with his famous opening “warm or cold” line, I already loved him.
And then we see a little bit more of his character as we continue the episode. Seeing the Covert and their living situation, how his job as the Covert’s beroya is their only means of funding, his own tragic backstory through flashes of memories, along with the importance of the job with the shady Client and returning the beskar to his people. We see how he struggles and copes and overcomes challenges while he’s on Arvala-7, with Kuill and then with IG-11. We see Din do what he has to for the sake of the job.
At this point, I thought I had gotten a pretty good handle on Din’s character.
But then he surprised me.
The finger offering is probably the most iconic scene throughout the entire show, and it’s definitely one of my favorite parts because that scene made me realize the kind of protagonist we were following. It wasn’t that it was OOC, but rather we were witnessing the first moment on screen where we see the Mandalorian step out of his role as a bounty hunter and just be Din Djarin. He isn’t dealing with an asset, he’s being gentle and pragmatic with a child.
And he didn’t have to be!! He could’ve gotten rid of IG-11, set the bassinet to follow him, and be on his way, without interacting with the asset at any point. But he chose to be genuine and kind in his first interaction with the child. He isn’t performing for anyone, he’s alone in this moment of calm after the storm, and he wanted to interact with the child in a way any caring adult would.
Maybe he didn’t know why he did it. But he did it.
It was that moment that I knew... The Mandalorian was ride-or-die for me.
