Improved Market Stalls 1.0
Over time, EA added a variety of regional recipes and market stalls — except they didn't care to integrate any of them.  This mod fixes that.  Initially, this mod was just going to focus on the missing recipes, but as there are multiple market stalls (even non-food ones) that could use improving, this mod was built from ground-up to be expansible.
The first release of this mod focuses on the above problem. Dishes that were added via SDX and updates were added to their respective food stalls, as well as recipes from other packs (looking at you, Weddinhg Stories).
[*] indicates that the recipe module is required
DOWNLOAD
City Living
Wedding Stories provided us with new Chinese and Indian recipes and, while City Living recipes were available at the Tartosa food stalls, Wedding Stories recipes were not. Additionally, the developers seemed to have missed the Vegetarian Butter Chicken recipe and the Lunar New Year SDX recipes were nonexistent.
Snow Escape came with a wide variety of Japanese recipes.  For the sake of brevity, I only added food types that are not already repesented in the menu (Maki, Onigri, Yakisoba) and a vegetarian option for one already represented (Ramen).
The Mexican food stall has some recipes from Jungle Adventures and the Latin American cuisine SDX.  As I am not Mexican, I had to do research to confirm if a recipe was in Mexican cuisine and I welcome feedback from more knowledgable Simmers.
Similarly, the Morrocan food stall has recipes from Discover University and the Arabic cuisine SDX.  I welcome feedback from anyone more knowledgeable on Moroccan cuisine.
Chinese
Chicken Stir-fry*, Minced Pork Noodles*, Rice Cake*, Steamed Fish*
Wedding Stories: Mud Carp, Roast Duck, Sweet Buns, Vegetable Dumplings
Indian
Vegetarian Butter Chicken*
Wedding Stories: Butter Chicken, Dal Makhani, Gulab Jamun, Palak Paneer
Japanese
Snowy Escape: Avacado Maki, Tuna Maki, Onigri, Miso Ramen, Beef Yakisoba, Veggie Yakisoba
Mexican
Chili, Chips and Salsa*, Elote*, Pan de Muerto*, Fish Tacos, Tofu Tacos
Jungle Adventure: Bunuelos, Empanadas Verde, Platanos Fritos
Luxury Party: Ceviche*
Morrocan
Knafeh*, Zaatar Manaeesh*
Get Together: Pita and Hummus Tapas*
Discover University: Fattoush Salad, Tabbouleh Salad, Shish Kebabs, Beef Wrap, Chicken Wrap, Falafel Wrap
Discover University
As the kebab stall seemed to be more of a pan-Arabic cuisine, I did not add the Moroccan dishes from City Living.
Kebabs
Knafeh*, Zaatar Manaeesh*
Get Together: Pita and Hummus Tapas*
Snowy Escape
City Living's selection of Japanese recipes is heavily limited in comparasion with Snowy Escape's, so there weren't many recipes added to the menu.  For consistency's sake, I only added recipes already represented on the menu.
In addition, the Festival of Light has Pufferfish Nigiri.
Traditional
City Living: Dango, Nigiri
Mountain Food
City Living: Dango, Ramen
Festival of Light
City Living: Dango, Nigiri, Pufferfish Nigiri
Festival of Youth
City Living: Dango, Nigiri
Festival of Snow
City Living: Dango, Nigiri, Ramen
Jungle Adventure
The food stall for Jungle Adventure appeared to be pan-South American, so I included all the recipes from the Latin American cuisine update and the Brazilian cuisine update, including drinks.  It did not seem to include Mexican recipes, so only one recipe from City Living (Empanadas) was added.
As Sims tend to waste food when they get the "Overwhelming Flavor" buff, I suggest my Don't Waste Food mod.
Food
Acaraje*, Asado*, Brigadiero*, Chimis*, Chimichurri Skewers*, Chripan*, Churrasco*, Hallacas*, Pinchos*, Pollo a la Brasa*
City Living: Empanadas
Luxury Party: Ceviche
Drinks
Caiprinha*, Coquito*
Wedding Stories
As mentioned above, Wedding Stories stalls already integrated City Living recipes into their menu.  I only needed to add the recipes from the Lunar New Year update and the Vegetarian Butter Chicken.
Chinese
Chicken Stir-fry*, Minced Pork Noodles*, Rice Cake*, Steamed Fish*
Indian
Vegetarian Butter Chicken*
Growing Together
This one was slightly harder to choose for as it's essentially a sampling of multiple cuisines.  I didn't want to flood the menus with every regional recipe available, I decided to go with a recognizable recipe from each of these cuisines: Brazilian, Korean, Middle Eastern, and Polynesian.
I plan to update this stall continuously as EA adds more recipes.
Around the World
Aracaje*, Japchae*
Island Living: Poke Bowl
Discover University: Shish Kebabs

Yako, baby, ima need to show you some good ass food that taste better than any ussy. Enchiladas Verdes
Tumblr media
It’s basically Tortilla with a sauce you make out of green chili and idk what else. You add chicken inside the tortilla and roll it up until it looked like a burrito, then put all your green sauce on top of it and add cheese, then you must put it to bake until it’s all warm and the cheese is melted. Personally I like to have orange rice with it but you can also try white rice or beans!
Tumblr media
This pasta has chipotle and its creamy yet a pit spicy! It also has some chicken and also some bell peppers!
Tumblr media
This soup is made out of chicken meat balls. But! You may also add carrots, potatoes, cooked cucumbers or other veggies you would like!
Tumblr media
These ones are absolutely good. It consists cooked Broccoli with chicken, cheese, cream, and Pieces of bacon! It’s so so so good!
Tumblr media
No, those are not chicken nugget. These are tacos with fried shrimp! To make it taste good, you must add Mayonnaise to the tortilla and then put your fried shrimps, then on top of that, add some Avocado, lemon, or even add some sauce that you can easily make with only mayonnaise and chipotle!
LOOK AT APHRODITE DOING WORK!!! YALL NEED TO STEP YALLS GAMES UP.
All of these look amazing I guess they just did me dirty with that pot roast 🙄
Also America why are yalls food strange I just now learned mayonnaise, banana and peanut butter sandwiches exist....
Yes i I did think those were chicken nuggets 💀💀
I really like the pasta and how it looks ngl.I've had Enchiladas before but not those kind and I didn't really like it but that was when I was 8 so idk.

headcanons: joshua & food
“love has always been the world’s best secret ingredient.”
while joshua doesn’t strictly need to eat, he loves food. he sees it as an art form, a way for people to express their passion and love, both for the food itself and for the people eating it. growing up, his parents rarely cooked for him, often forgetting to feed him at all. at the same time, mr. h would cook for him regularly, leading him to associate cooking (specifically being cooked for) with love. so while he does know how to cook, he’ll often pretend he doesn’t if he thinks it’ll lead to someone else cooking for him, and will rarely (if ever) cook alone at home now that he doesn’t need to to stay alive.
basics & general notes
joshua is a fairly adventurous eater and tends to be fine eating most things, with few things he outright hates.
his favorite flavor is umami (salty and savory) and his least favorite is bitter.
he’s not a big fan of sweet food.
he likes spicy food a lot, especially chili.
he didn’t like coffee at first, due to it being either bitter or sweet, but he drank it a lot because of his friendship with mr. h and, due to a mixture of exposure and fond associations, he grew to like it over time.
he usually likes vegetables, but not in soup.
pork is a neutral flavor.
generally likes seafood.
doesn’t like ice cream.
loves ramen.
doesn’t really like soy sauce.
going by the original game, his favorite foods are: definitivo chili dog, shio ramen, absolute shadow ramen, mushrooms, viper drink (some kind of energy drink), and sync bars (which i can only assume are absolutely disgusting energy bars that he eats like candy).

Checker Hall, 104 N Ave 56, Los Angeles (Highland Park), CA 90042
Tumblr media
We live nearby Checker Hall but had no idea that it existed (it’s upstairs, only open in the evening, and there is no signage). I also did not know that it was the sister restaurant to the music venue, Lodge Hall. Checker Hall and Lodge Hall share the same building, the restored Masonic Lodge.
The menu at Checker Hall is Mediterranean with lots of cocktails and beverages. Choose from dips, snacks, skewers, veggies/small plates, mains, and desserts. There was no printed dessert menu but the server told us about the four options as well as the two specials of the day. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are clearly marked.
We received one appetizer at a time. The portions of the appetizers and small plates were decent. It was too dark, so my pictures are terrible.
Hummus ($12): parsley, garlic, chili flakes, crispy chickpeas served with fluffy hot zaatar pita. The hummus was on the smaller side. The hummus was thick and creamy, plus I loved the flavor of the zhoug. Mr. Froyo thought there was too much going on and he couldn’t really taste the hummus. The pita was the thick Israeli kind. We received two whole pitas.
Maitake mushroom skewer ($14): chili glaze, salsa verde, tahini. Our least favorite but still good. The chili glaze was sweet vs. spicy. It was a bit too sweet. Mr. Froyo said he could not taste the mushrooms. An order came with four grilled mushrooms. The tahini and salsa verde were both delicious and flavorful.
Roasted harissa carrots ($16): crispy bulgur, labneh, seed brittle, herb salad. My favorite dish though Mr. Froyo thought there was too much going on. The roasted carrots were sweet and there were so many textures and flavors. There was an unexpected but amazing smoky quality to the flavors.
Crispy whole branzino ($38): fully deboned, nuoc cham, sesame, fennel, radish, Thai basil, mint, citrus. Impressed that they deboned the branzino. Mr. Froyo liked this dish best. The skin of the branzino was quite crispy and the fennel salad tangy and fresh.
Orange sorbet: Complimentary. Not too sweet but it tasted artificial. I missed their Greek froyo offering! But they did have Greek froyo this summer.
Broken record cocktail ($11) with cantaloupe juice, fresh mint, lime, seltzer water, house ginger syrup: Light, refreshing, not super sweet. Liked it!
The server was helpful and well informed. I had a lot of questions and he could answer all of them.
The place is beautiful and very dark – like a classy cocktail lounge with booths, a triangular bar that takes up most of the room, and a few secluded nooks on a balcony that overlooks Figueroa Street. It was also noisy but it is in the same building as a music venue.
4.5 out of 5 stars

Howdy!
You mentioned some time back about having lunch at a Mexican restaurant and enjoying the music etc ( I agree and enjoy those artists, too. I suck at Zumba though so I envy your skill).
If ya don't mind me asking, what was your lunch? Enchiladas? Chile Rellenos? Tamales? (I love tamale season) Side of rice and side of beans? Tacos? (my fave from our local taqueira up the street will always be their barbacoa) Tortas? Fajitas? Carne Asada?
Our go to is a small family owned place in our neighborhood and they laugh when I walk in because they know I'm walking out with a Big Gulp sized container of their salsa verde. I think the last time I was in, the owner's daughter immediately spun on her heel toward the kitchen to start ladling it into the cup. It is spicy, fresh and so good I put it on more than just their fare. Their salsa rojo is also delicious, but I prefer the other.
Great, now I'm craving their fresh chips so much I can almost smell them.
What's your fave? For the margs, the place above only serves beer so I don't have margaritas very often. What kind do you like?
I miss my Zumba days! Sadly, my illness has progressed to the point that I can't really move like that anymore (my balance has gone to shit), so I am relegated to the stationary bike I have at home. I also just re subscribed to Barre3, and I forgot how much I enjoy it!
But, the place I had lunch yesterday used to be my favorite Mexican spot, but when my husband and I moved away, they changed owners and it wasn't as good. Now, the old owners are back and it has been restored to it's former glory! My go to is their "Ranchero Special" which is a bed of Spanish rice topped with fajita veggies, chicken, steak, and covered in their cheese sauce. I usually add some of their fresh salsa and scoop it up with chips! SO GOOD. They also have these mixed grill fajitas that my husband and I will share. It has chicken, steak, carnitas, chiorizo, and shrimp and is just to die for. The best part are the charred onions with the little bits of chiorizo. One time we had leftovers with a bunch of rice (my husband gets his own side of rice, lol), so we took the leftover meat and rice and cooked it up with some eggs for some epic breakfast tacos!
As far as the margaritas go, I like a good classic frozen lime margarita. I'm not too big on the flavored ones, but there is this place in New Orleans that has a pineapple and cilantro marg that should not be as delicious as it is.
I grew up in Mississippi, so hot tamales are their own food group for me. We had this place in a shed on the side of the service road called The Tamale Shack, and the food was AMAZING. They also had delicious chili, and they would do crawfish when they were in season. Where I live now, there is a Spanish speaking church across from our neighborhood grocery store, and they sell tamales and tacos for a fundraiser once a month. When I tell y'all that food is fire! And those abuelas make sure you DO NOT leave hungry!
I could talk food for hours, lol. It's my love language.

Closing Thoughts:
The Good:
Short Term Goal Completed - Back to Eating Meat - Discovered some nice Vegetarian Options - Except for Tofurkey Italian Sausage... that stuff can rot in hell.
Tacos and Burritos have never tasted soooo good. Up Next...Burgers!
The Bad:
Seasonal Allergies
The Ugly:
Back to my horrible sleep patterns. Craving a good nap.
