Some features of the earth urchins compared to the four hedgehogs of the world of Sonic!

One day I asked myself the question of how would be the anatomy of Sonic and I began to investigate the anatomy of the ground urchins but I liked so many details of them that I put together some characteristics of these animals to compare them with the four hedgehogs of the world of Sonic.

us start!

Starting with obvious facts:

In the world of Sonic only showed to have four hedgehogs; Sonic, Amy, Shadow and Silver, (the green does not count because it is still Sonic)

They all appear to be of a "same species of hedgehog".

For we know 16 types of earth urchins on our planet.

On the other hand I thought Silver was of a different species like Shadow. (By the shape of its spikes) But I don’t see the point, so they must be the same species. Although Shadow might be a little authentic in his design, I’ll explain later.

(Data: the hedgehog Atelerix algirus and the hedgehog Hemiechinus auritus are the ones who take care more to be pets at home)

FOOD

-Ground urchins eat insects, worms, molluscs, snakes, some fruits, small vertebrates, acorns, young birds and eggs.

(the hedgehog thought about it a little before attacking)

-Sonic and the others eat things that could be considered human; chili dogs, coffee beans (this is done by Shadow), strawberry cake (eaten by Amy and Sonic hates it), hamburgers (by SonicBoom), apples (by a drawing of Silver), and so on.

ANATOMY

The ground urchins have very good flexibility, an arched spine and strong and flexible muscles, that allows them to become ball. Comparing it with the deformed hedgehogs (Sonic) there is not much difference since all present good strength and flexibility, except Silver that can not be made ball.

The spikes of hedgehogs are made of keratin, which is a protein substance. I guess the same applies to Sonic and so on. Although in Sonic Unleashed when he is electrocuted we can see that it does not have "bones" in its large spikes, it is a little obvious to know but data that goes without saying.

The skeleton of ground urchins is similar to other mammals, only that its spine is a little more curved, as well as other details; as that its clavicle is well developed so that it can dig hard. This is very different from Sonic’s body and so on as it would resemble more a human structure.

Although also to keep in mind Sonic’s feet are… a closed thing…

By the way the snout and mouth are very different too. Sonic has a snout but the nose and mouth are different from the ground urchin. And another fact: the hedgehogs take incredibly long walks if it is for food; something like 7.2 km/h and if we combine it with the particularity of Sonic being very fast this powerful detail does not overlook.

Time when I jumped out of my spot when I was reading this.

I love this, I have no idea if the creator of Shadow has taken this as a reference but did you know that hedgehogs have a blue border that surrounds their dark eyes? This can only be seen when hedgehogs look to the side. So the great "eyeliner" of Shadow could be a real detail of the animal but taken as a reference to leave it beside your eyes on the outside.

The tail of the common hedgehogs is bare, but the tail of the deformed ones appears to be of the same color as all their other spikes.

I think, canonically, the characters of the Sonic world can mate. But I didn’t see anything that highlighted this, I mean, we can witness Cream’s mother.

Male hedgehogs have a small penis, (bulge), located in what would be their navel and have intra-abdominal testicles (they remain in the abdomen instead of leaving through the scrotum) and the female vulva is a small button that is located in front of the anus.

I guess since they’re characters from the '90s, it’s obvious that this wasn’t thought of at the time of their creation. There’s not much to think about since they’re characters who may or may not wear clothes (Tails-Nine and Sally-Amy) and yet we wouldn’t see anything, not even the nipples! Because hedgehogs have five nipples, both female and male, and you’ll notice that Sonic has nothing.

But I found a picture of Sally where she has more clothes. I suppose it must be a hallmark that female characters wear clothes. (Although Sally is not a canonical character, of course.)

THE 5 SENSES:

Sight: they do not have good view, it is said that hedgehogs have no sense of space, but they can distinguish shapes. Although the hedgehogs are blind and may have collisions with objects, they continue to travel great distances and this does not cause them to slow down, they continue with the same speed as if they had good eyesight.

Smell: very developed, so I guess the four hedgehogs can smell very well from several meters, maybe Sonic can smell Eggman without making noise, will smell of egg?

If you hid a chili dog under the ground in a box, Sonic could find it.

Hearing: the ear of hedgehogs can detect high frequency sounds, their developed sense allows them to locate their prey underground.

Tip: If you saw the Sonic Prime series you will notice that Sonic’s ears move often before a sound. I think a good detail added for the blue hedgehog, this is also added in the IDW comics, I did not find the panel but it is when Amy stays listening to the ground and knows that two hedgehogs are close, those hedgehogs were Shadow and Sonic.

But although hedgehogs have a very sensitive ear I do not consider it the same for the four hedgehogs as they would go crazy at the sounds of Eggman machines, explosions or a simple click of the computer mouse. (Ground urchins get stressed too fast with a simple computer click)

Taste: These animals have a peculiar… sense of taste. They like the taste of a hundred feet. So it’s not uncommon for Shadow to like bitter, for Sonic to like spicy, and for Amy to like sweet, what would Silver like? Healthy or the first thing he finds in his world to eat?

Types of sounds hedgehogs make

Sounds of joy: these little things purr like a cat, and they can even mix it with whistles. Could it be that Shadow purred when he was with Maria?

Bullying sounds: they emit a sound through the nose from a strong breathing, they do it when they feel attacked or are upset. (I don’t know if they thought of it this way when they made Shadow growl annoyingly in Sonic Prime. The same with Amy and Sonic when they got jealous or bothered with each other at Sonic Boom)

Whining sound: when they feel pain they emit a sound like a scream, I could notice this in a video of a hedgehog that was in the water of a bathtub. (although there are always exceptions)

Sleeping sounds: Hedgehogs snore, I guess they all snore too?Hedgehogs fall asleep anywhere. In the Sonic game where Amy’s birthday is celebrated, Tails mentions that Sonic can sleep anywhere, even in the most unusual.

Data: the hedgehogs have nails/claws that they use to dig the earth and since the of Sonic characters are put gloves to not show their hands I think they should not have pads like normal animals but rather human hands. Well, Sticks is the only one I’ve seen without gloves and she’s a badger and badgers have pads. So all Sonic characters should have hands without the characteristics of their species.

BEHAVIOR

The behavior of one ground urchin and the other four is very different, except Shadow, he should stay on the side of the ground urchins.

Since hedgehogs are solitary, they only come together when it’s mating season. (Although Sonic likes to spend time alone…but he’s not a lone wolf like Shadow)

UNGIMIENTO (I couldn’t find the word in English)

When tasting a taste or perceive a new smell, or rare, the animal bites the source of this flavor or smell (Animals, objects, people, whatever) to then make a frothy, thick and white drool that with the tongue are smeared on the side peaks and those near his face. (Scientists don’t know why they do this) If I imagine it for the four deformed hedgehogs maybe this does not exist for them, as they smell new things all the time.

EXTRA DATA: Hedgehogs can swim but they don’t like to stay in the water too long because they can drown, I saw a documentary that mentioned this. I like that touch they gave Sonic that in the water he is scary, I don’t know if it’s something canonical or fandom but it was nice to see him be the only one with a life jacket in the Olympics.

Remember when they did that twitter and tiktok special where they asked Sonic what would happen if he was a worm? Well, hedgehogs eat worms. And did you know that the Egyptian hedgehog is prey to foxes? While it’s another kind of hedgehog this is funny. In Sonic the movie the character Longclaw is the "mother" of Sonic… the funny thing about this is that she is an owl and owls eat hedgehogs.

Who had the idea to give a friend and mother predators to Sonic?

Prompt #11: Honey

Inspired by this post

• Sonadow Prompt Fills •

Shadow knocked Sonic off the overpass that he was running across with a well timed Spin Dash. Their competition had been going on for about an hour. They exchanged blows which the rival continuously blocked.

Shadow felt like a desperate bee drawn into the taunting petals of the brightest flower. Sonic grinned at Shadow past his fist as he caught it and twisted.

He flipped Shadow over and quickly turned the tables on him.

Sonic pinned Shadow to the grass. They had ended up underneath the lip of a rock wall which was obscured by a group of large bushes. He panted, chest heaving. Shadow growled and arched his back, but he didn’t actually attempt to break free.

Lids lowered on green eyes, and Sonic smirked. He swooped down and kissed Shadow, hard. He brought Shadow’s wrists together and held with one hand, so that he could pet his chest fluff. That hand wandered over to grip Shadow’s side, thumb making circles. Shadow gasped against his mouth.

Sonic clasped his hands and brought them down, keeping his grip as he moved to bury his muzzle into Shadow’s neck and kiss there. A small moan escaped his throat. Shadow trembled at the feeling of his wet little tongue smoothing the fur.

Though technically released, he couldn’t break away. Sonic had become the buzzing creature seeking something, and Shadow was more than pleased to provide his saccharine delights. Shadow watched the actual bees visiting the bushes, his face hot with slight mortification at his lack of control over his reactions.

Their little sessions were nothing new, driven by tension and adrenaline, but Shadow often found himself overwhelmed by Sonic’s attention regardless.

He had an attentiveness that felt like he was milking rich nectar out of Shadow to maintain a place for him in his life. Each time, his body acted as though it was untouched in this way again.

Sonic revisited his lips, nipping Shadow a bit in his haste. Shadow didn’t mind. However, Sonic seemed agitated, crushing their lips like he expected Shadow to warp away with Chaos Control at any moment.

After a bit, Sonic’s grasp on his hands slackened. Shadow slipped his fingers into Sonic’s quills and slowed the kissing to a less severe pace. They broke apart and Sonic whispered, “Your kisses are sweet like honey.”

“Keep that mushy nonsense to yourself, hedgehog,” Shadow complained. At the same time he thought, if anyone is sweet and soothing as honey it’s you.

Sonic snorted and Shadow gave a small smile back. The pink tinge on his muzzle and the way he shyly looked to the side told Shadow that it seemed Sonic was also not entirely accustomed to their effects on each other either.

Sonic cupped his cheek, too tenderly for their unspoken arrangement, and he brought their lips together again. This lasted shorter, and Sonic mimicked the gentleness that Shadow had shown. When he appeared satisfied, he briefly rested on Shadow’s forehead. His confident smirk made its return when he sat back.

“So, how do I taste, anyway?”

“Unfortunately, you tend to taste like those foul chili dogs.”

“Hey, I usually try to freshen up before I run into you, but sometimes I don’t get the chance!”

“Don’t give me excuses, faker,” Shadow argued. “In this case it’s somewhat bitter… the fruity kind…”

Sonic tilted his head. “Is that a good thing?”

“Sonic. I eat coffee beans, straight, for breakfast.”

Sonic belted out a laugh. “Like you do anything straight.”

“Shut up.”

“Mhm. Make me faker.”

That wasn’t even a real challenge. Shadow pounced on him. Sonic managed to slide out of his hold, and the fight began anew. Sonic’s laughter turned to short panting as he focused sharply on Shadow, too preoccupied to run his mouth. They shot across the green land in twists and turns, never really losing pace but neither kept the upper hand for long.

Eventually, they collapsed on the grass, clinging to each other.

“We could do something other than just making out again,” Sonic mused. “Maybe dinner?”

“I don’t see the point, hedgehog,” Shadow grumbled as he stroked Sonic’s quills.

“The point is spending time together that isn’t fighting, competing, or kissing each other senseless. Don’t you enjoy my company?”

“You’re so damn annoying when your mouth isn’t on mine.”

Sonic sighed dreamily and clasped their hands. “I’ll get you to come around someday.”

“Perhaps. You’re very stubborn.”

“You got it, honey.”

Shadow groaned in horror at the nonchalantly delivered term. Shadow would relent in due time. He could feel his walls chipping away bit by bit. For now, he just wanted to enjoy himself without complications.

But he knew no matter what, Sonic didn’t really need their relationship to be a certain clearly defined thing, that they’d always do it their own way.

ok but now my brain is stuck in "design an entire Sonic the Hedgehog theme park" mode.

Sonic the hedgehog is single-handedly keeping street food stalls open across the world he visits.

I like chili-dogs, but never have I seen a chili-dog stand in my life, the demand for the bean topping is just too low, but everywhere Sonic goes, the stands pop up.

Do venders just figure out where Sonic will be, and change what they sell to chili-dogs only to specifically to catch Sonic’s attention with “Chili-Dog” stand signs?

Are chili-dogs just a cheap high protein option for the city’s lower class?

Why are the venders almost always pigs?

Are they made of pork, beef, both, or something else?

How much do they charge a hedgehog they know is full of rings?

Why is there a chili-dog vending machine in Sonic SatAM? Who’s restocking it?

Mmm! Ooh la la! Oh yes! Now this is what I call sex-you-all! Wrapped in a pristine (butt not for long) white towel up to his chest as a sign of his fruitiness, Sonic the Hedgehog looked at Tom Wachowski with bedroom eyes, and romantically said to him "Good Times" before lifting his leg and released some big, loud, wet, cacophonous, hot, steamy, stinky, stanky, smelly, chili doggy poot gas or possibly more from his butthole! His toots sounded like this: FRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPPFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fragrant hedgehog gas resulted in Donut Lord, Movie Sonic's affectionate nickname for Tom blushing and his pickle growing big as he playfully waved the stench away while taking a whiff and saying to the blue blur "Mmm! Oh! Oooh! Oh come on! That's awful! What did you eat, my boy?!" as he laid down while Sonic smirked. Our speedy blue hero, about to pass out from his own fumes replied "I think it's called a... chili dog?" having never before came across the delicious meal of hot dogs smothered in lean beef, stewed beans, and cheese despite having gobbled down a platter full of a dozen of the dogz at a nearby biker bar. Tom, struggling to hide his attraction to the silly blue alien continued the joke by responding with "You might want to check your fur on that one, my deliciously ticklish and gassy buddy!" Resulting in the spacehog finding a splatter of brown on the towel and right around his bootyhole, letting Donut Lord getting a good look at that hedgehog's bussy.

Smokey brand Movie Reviews: Knuck If You Buck

I finally got to see Sonic the Hedgehog 2! I missed it in theaters because of various ailments and had resigned myself to the VOD release but the internet is a funny place and i found an HD copy of this thing online. Like, this thing is still in theaters and i just screened it on my couch, in my underwear. Sometimes, I love the future. Though it was a little disappointing watching this thing on my computer, i must say, i enjoyed the f*ck out of it. But why did i enjoy it? IS it the best video game movie, ever? Is it a decent Sonic film? I got answers and thoughts. IF you’re interested, read on!

The Good

Ben Schwartz is the best Sonic we have to date. All love to my Sonic, Jaleel White, but Schwartz kills it in this role. There is a genuine sincerity in how he approaches this version of the character and it’s hard to fins fault in his choices.

Idris Elba is amazing as Knuckles. I thought he was a little stiff at first but then i realized that’s just Knuckles. He’s a stiff dude. It’s in his character and Elba knew when to lean into that. He did a great job with some of the levity, too. I damn near lost all of my sh*t with the Badnik steps.

Colleen O'Shaughnessey does her thing as Tails, which she’s done for years. O'Shaughnessey became the voice of tails eight years a go. I can’t hear anyone else playing the character so i am exceedingly glad that Paramount didn’t try to force in a “tar” for this role. It wouldn’t be Miles if they did.

Jim Carrey is Jim Carrey. He’s going to do his Jim Carrey thing and it’s always entertaining. It’s sad he’s “retired” now but he chose a solid role to go out on.

This film looks really good. Sega has pulled out all the stops to make this movie compete with other effect blockbusters and it rally shows. I am super glad they got bullied into redesigning Sonic because i shudder to thing what that Knuckles would look like.

I have to say, this is some solid Sonic world building. The universe this live action take is crafting, has my attention and i want to see so much more of it. I’ve been a Sonic fan since i was a kid, like five or six years old, and seeing my beloved Blue Blur getting such a rich narrative on the big screen feels my inner child with such joy.

SUPER SONIC!

I have to say, all those little references to the franchise were awesome. Chili dogs, buttcopters and wall climbs, Green Hills Zone ringtones, Robotnik’s Mean Bean, G.U.N, Sanic; My fanboy heart was all in a tizzy with so many goddamn easter eggs.

“That movie is the wooooooooorrrrst!”

Project Shadow.

The Meh

The writing is a bit derivative but this is a movie for kids so it’s okay. Like, i wasn’t mad that this isn’t “Citizen Kane but with a hedgehog” but i feel like it could have used another pass over that script.

The Bad

The human parts derail this movie is the most uncouth way imaginable. The whole wedding plot is unnecessary and i cannot stand the sister character. Loud Black Woman is my least favorite movie trope and she was just going in on that sh*t hard.

Those human parts absolutely wrecked the pacing. This movie is over to hours long and it feels like it, but that’s because there are so many superfluous and useless human scenes. You could shave a whole half hour off this thing if you withe cut the wedding or just condensed it. I mean, Shemar Moore’s character absolutely disappeared with, like, an hour left to go. Why was he even in this thing??

The Verdict

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a fun time and a really good video game film. It’s not super profound or going to change your life after seeing it but it’s enjoyable and accessible. There is a whole world growing before our eyes and we get to experience that through some outstanding performances from Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba and Colleen O'Shaughnessey. Jim Carrey hams it all the way up as Eggman and ate every second of that sh*t up. At the end of the day, this is a movie for kids and fans but it’s surprisingly earnest with it’s message. It’s a little long in the tooth and A LOT of the human scenes could have been but but, all in all, i think it’s worth a watch. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a great example of how to make a video game into a film and i hope Sonic 3 is just as good.

Because of the unanswered question regarding whether or not a supposedly immortal life form like Shadow requires food for energy and survival, I’ve attempted to collect every official instance in which Shadow is seen interacting with food, whether that be consuming it or simply having it nearby because I clearly have issues.

First up on our list is the official Sonic Channel artwork for October 2013 in which Shadow and his Dark Chao companion appear to be trick-or-treating. Shadow carries a pumpkin-shaped bucket filled to the brim with hard candies and chocolate bars.

Similarly, on Cover RI of issue #22 of the IDW comics, Shadow, donning his Vampire Shadow outfit from Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, carries another pumpkin-shaped bucket filled with candies while placing three lollipops between his fingers.

While there is no way to determine whether or not the piece of candy belongs to him, it might as well be mentioned that a candy cane can be spotted lying on the floor next to a resting Shadow in the Sonic Channel art piece for December 2014.

In the second part of Team Sonic Racing Overdrive, a defeated Shadow is seen shoveling a handful of popcorn into his mouth.

Shadow is also seen sitting beside a bucket of popcorn in issue #269 of the Archie comics.

In episode 72 of Sonic X, while at the Stardust Bar, Shadow grips an orange beverage during a scene that was deleted from the 4Kid’s English dub.

On the cover of issue #35 of the IDW comics, Shadow can be seen holding a cup of Chaos Soda in an advertisement.

According to a preview of Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) on 1up.com, Shadow’s favorite foods are pizza, Doritos, Snickers, Hot Pockets, and “anything mobile”.

During the Sonic Twitter Takeover, Shadow states the following:

When asked how he drinks his coffee, Shadow answers, “I just eat the beans straight” followed by, “they’re delicious and crunchy”.

When asked how he eats his chili dogs, Shadow states, “I add peppers and even more cheese than Sonic just to prove I’m better than him”.

When asked about his Ultimate Day, Shadow answers, “My Ultimate day would consist of a nice two handfuls of coffee beans in the morning”.

After receiving a question from the official Gushers twitter page, Shadow demands, “Listen Gushers, if you send any samples out, send them straight to me!”.

When Sonic advertises for Chaos Cola, their sponsor, Shadow states, “I say support indie drinks”, suggesting that he himself supports indie drinks.

While the list above does not answer whether or not Shadow must consume food in order to survive, it can be concluded that, based on the foods he has interacted with in official media, Shadow eats nothing but unhealthy garbage.

💎 are there any fun facts or trivia that you would like to share?

there have been five sonic cartoons and all of them MINUS SONIC X have featured chili dogs. the chili dog thing was entirely part of the american sonic interpretations (archie comics, aosth, etc) so they never show up in the one sonic anime. now we wait to see if they’re in prime (yes they probably will be). also another fun fact i am obsessed with is the whole shadow eats coffee beans thing. he eats them raw. no idea where they got that idea but it kills me. and one more for the road: tails has had the most (english) voice actors out of any sonic character- yes even sonic himself- with nine.

🏳‍🌈 do you have any headcanons (lgbt, race, neuro, etc) that are important to you?

WELL. OPENS UP SCROLL THAT DRAMATICALLY ROLLS OUT ACROSS THE FLOOR. mainly i think mr the hedgehog himself is trans and bi because yeah. a lot of them are autistic in my mind too since it makes them cooler but especially tails . sorry i get embarrassed when i talk about my headcanons but those ones are like my everything. frantically rolling up the scroll

💢 what do you NOT like about your hyperfixation? is there something you would want to change about it?

can i say the dude from crush 40 doing NFTs. i want that to change. also i wish that as a whole content wasn’t rushed. i feel like there’s so much happening this year and it makes me worried that something or another is gonna be put to a time crunch that hurts the employees and final product. i mean we saw what happened with 06 i’m just hoping that doesn’t happen again or we don’t get the thing nintendo does now with downloadable content. mainly looking at frontiers with this one it’s like the meme with the guy holding up the dog and saying do not blow this for us. and finally this is personal but i wish i hadn’t lost my copy of colors ds. damn you past louie

Curse of the Dark Emerald, chapter 1

Author's Notes: Hello everyone this is my first time writing for Sonic and tackling the idea of Sonic in the movie verse as a Werehog because since watching the film I think myself and a lot of others have been egging (no pun intended xD) to have a shot at this. So I hope as my first time it comes off good and not too terrible! Apologies for any story mistakes! Please enjoy and keeping it at around PG-13 rated.

Tom Wachowski unlocked the door to his house, his body slumped involuntarily as he entered, it was a long, and dull uneventful day. He was tired from doing the usual patrolling of Green Hill and not much happened, which was pretty typical. Ozzy, his beloved golden retriever didn’t waste time greeting his owner and stood on his back legs lurching his upper body on Tom in the form of a hug.

“Hey, Oz! Good boy!”

Ozzy manages to leave a lick of drool on his face and instantly after receiving the affection, he settles down and sits at Tom’s feet. A neon, blue line zipped behind Ozzy.

“Hey, Donut Lord! You’re back!”

A young, blue hedgehog jumps onto Tom’s chest and and embraces him into a hug, Tom could feel his quills against his head bristling. Sonic’s cheeks were blushing from the joy to see his best friend back home. Electric green eyes meet Tom’s.

“Hey, bud, good to see you.” Tom returns the hug and gently drops Sonic to the floor.

Sonic rests his fists on his sides, “You bring anything cool back? Like some food?” Sonic makes the brightest smile at Tom.

“Sorry, bud. Not this time.” Tom chuckled at Sonic, knowing him he was thinking he’d brought home a take out meal for free.

Sonic groaned, “Aww come on! I haven’t had a chili dog in like, forever!” He folds his arms and huffs at Tom.

“Hi, Tom.”

Maddie appears and made her greeting with a peck on the cheek for Tom. “Don’t worry about him, he’s been good today.”

“Oh I’m not worried about that,” Tom took off his coat and put it on the coat hanger, ''But I’m more worried about Mr. Flash here getting too fat, for sure!” He teases.

Sonic laughs, but pauses; and he furrows his eyes, “Hey!”

“Did you take your nap, earlier, Sonic? Tom gives Sonic a pat on his head before walking past him and going into the kitchen.

“Of course I did!” Sonic rolled his eyes.

“I made some soup and breadsticks, so no hot dogs Sonic.” Maddie winked at Sonic, she knew his bribery at Tom had failed.

“Yeah, yeah ,okay.” Sonic sighed in disappointment, and took a seat at the table.

“Hey Sonic, how’re your muscles feeling?” Maddie finished bringing all the utensils for Tom and Sonic and sat down, grinning at the hedgehog.

“Really sore.” Sonic moans a little and rubs his back, “That workout was a killer yesterday, I don’t think I’ll do it again.”

Both of them laughed to each other, Maddie took her turn to tease him.

Tom smiles to himself warmly, his job may be dull at times but it was a different story here at home, which he didn’t mind. He always felt happier and lighter seeing Sonic as the new member of the household, officially welcomed after he and Maddie made him his own room in the attic. That was only a few weeks ago, and October was just around the corner. Tom and Maddie had already mentioned to Sonic about Halloween, which of course the little hedgehog was excited for, but that would be discussed later on.

Sonic was his usual chipper self, talked about his day but also made sure to let his guardians speak as well. Which he was getting better at. Tom let himself to the daily newspaper while Sonic and Maddie made small talk, turning the thin pages from time to time, reading the daily funny comics, then the weather, then he remembered he forgot to even look at the front page, the title in black, bold letters read

“Trick of the Eyes? Or the new Montana’s “Northern Lights?”

“Woah..”

Tom scans over the slightly blurred picture below the main headline, which was in color thankfully; showing that in the next town over, there were sights of odd, but dazzling green and blue rays reminiscent of the northern lights anyone was familiar with in the Northern continents, but different.

“Hey, wanna see something cool?”

Sonic’s lime-green orbs lit up at Tom, “Yeah, sure, what’s up?”

Tom folds the paper for him to see better, “Looks like you might not be the only alien thing around,” he jokes.

But the moment Sonic looked at the picture of the headline, his eyes went sharp and into a trance, he gingerly took the paper, read it over and didn’t say another word. Sonic’ss mouth hung agape a little, but made no sound.

Maddie and Tom glanced at each other, not knowing when or what to say at first, but Tom beats her to it, “Sonic? What’s the matter?”

Sonic blinked his eyes and finally made his gaze at them, “I’m okay! It really is cool, Tom.”

Sonic almost couldn't finish his sentence and was interrupted by a yawn. He shook his head to fight the sudden sleepiness.

“Are you all done with your food?” Maddie began taking dishes to the sink.

“Yep, I’m done.” Sonic gently pushed his plate away and got down, heading for his room.

Tom still kept watch on Sonic’s expression the whole time, he could tell the young hedgehog has something lingering in his mind, behind that smile. But, he thought, I’ll give him his space for now.

“Good night, Sonic!” Maddie gently shouts so she could overpower the sound of clinking dishes and running water.

“Goodnight!” Sonic makes a hasty wave at Tom and dashed to his room, opening the floor boarded door and closing it behind him.

“Ugh, I gotta..go..!”

Sonic fumbles with his words and thoughts, trying to think and properly conjure the crazy idea that he was about to do,

“That story in the paper...it felt so weird...and it's bugging me��”

Sonic tosses all his belongings that were on the floor which were just left scattered around messily, looking for the most important things to him, his brain couldn’t remember where he put them, until he checked the drawers and instantly, his pouch of Rings were there in his stash of socks.

“Cool beans, I gotcha! Now, I should...UGH I gotta go now! No no no, calm down and slow down, I can’t just go there yet…”

Sonic took a sharp breath in, and slowed his brain down to think more clearly, “I have to wait until they’re asleep. So they don’t worry.”

It was finally settled on what he had to do. While he waited for Tom and Maddie to get to bed and sleep, he made his quick preparations on what to take for this short journey to the town outside of Green Hill. Sonic looked out the upper window of his room, a near full moon glistened it’s face downwards with it’s light.

“Backpack, check. Flashlight, check.”

Sonic grabbed his Rings, took one out and held it firmly in his hand, and stashed the rest into his bigger bag. Happy with his things, he took a step towards the door,

A rustle of noises was heard outside, he whipped to see what it was from and thought he also saw a pair of red eyes peering from the same window. The years of old paranoia washed over and Sonic quickly checked outside on the roof, and he found nothing about that could be spying.

“Come on, let’s go already.” Sonic griped at himself to get going, shook his head, and went to his door, the house lights below were off and a dark staircase greeted him.

Sonic quietly tiptoed to Tom and Maddie’s room, and he was happy to find out his timing was good, they were preparing to go to sleep, but they spoke amongst themselves in their room which muffled both voices a little bit.

“He had a weird reaction to that story from the paper, you think he’s okay?”- Maddie

“Not sure, but it might not be that big of a deal.”-Tom

A sigh was let out from one of them, though Sonic couldnt see who it was.

“You’re probably right, but I’m...a little worried.”

Tom took the covers and slipped on the bed, “I’ll admit I am a little too, but for now if Sonic wants to tell us what it is, let’s just wait.”

Sonic’s chest tightened, he felt a little guilty for what he was about to do and rethinks if telling both of them would be best, but he was happy to hear they were so concerned about him.

“Okay, Tom. I don’t want to press him either, but you’re totally right.”

They’ll be fine.

Sonic had heard just enough to put himself at ease, he heard the bedroom become silent not long after, that was the que to make his move.

He promised to himself, “I’ll be back before the sun comes up.”

Sonic went back upstairs to his room, took the golden ring in hand, tossed it and a whirl of energy and wind blows, the ring showcases a sea of green pine trees on the other side,

“Nothing wrong with a little adventure, right?” Sonic rubbed his gloves together, his nervousness had vanished with the thought of what could be on the other side, waiting for him.

He goes in and the ring closes. His room was now vacant. Until an arm pulls down the window pane on the ceiling...

A black clothed person carefully props himself to the floor, wearing red tinted goggles on his head and a black beanie to mask himself.

“Whew, close one.”

After getting his balance, the man moves his goggles up his face, Agent Stone had been following his target for the last few days. He scans the room for anything he could use to further his plans into action, the execution to start could now begin.

“What now..? Oh..?” Stone’s eyes catch onto something interesting,

A single gold ring glowed on the floor, he grinned playfully at the item, studying it.

“He used this to disappear? Hmm..”

He barely moved his fingers and the ring slips from his grasp, clumsily it falls back on the floor, opening a portal.

“Woah, what the-?” Stone stepped back, startled.

From what he could see it was the same place his target took off to, green forests of trees and he saw large footprints from where Sonic was headed.

“No time to waste, then.”

He had his mission to fulfill, and he took the jump inside the ring, and it closed from behind. Stone looked back expecting the bedroom to be there, but it wasn’t. Stone went into focus and followed Sonic’s footsteps.
