The fact that my chem had ( honestly still has to some ppl) the reputation of being a like suicide death cult is so wacky in retrospect. Like idk I was a literal actual child during my chems height of popularity in the early 2000s and 2010s and even I remember ppl being like “ hide your children from the emos they will turn them gay and give them depression” and like HUHHH. scared i have bedbugs or some shit becayuse i have a bunch of these fucking bumps on my forearms and some on my hands and a lot of places i cant see are really itchy and i havent seen any in my room but my place has had some ant problems lately. hell world

Speaking of chemicals, everyone knows not to mix bleach and vinegar because that makes chlorine gas, right? Or bleach and ethanol because that makes chloroform, right? Or bleach and ammonia, or bleach and anything besides water to make a 10% solution, right??

Because I thought that was common knowledge especially after the COVID cleaning crazes and yet. and YET. I got to learn the hard way that this is, in fact, NOT as common knowledge as I thought it was and buddy let me tell you chlorine gas is a doozy very not fun. Very holy-shit-i-cant-breathe-and-everything-burns not fun.

#my partner thought that adding vinegar to the 100% bleach would make the socks more clean #i did NOT know he was doing this until i heard a massive coughing fit and ran to the bathroom to check on him #the only reason we even had bleach to begin with is because i was sanitizing everything for ringworm we got at the vet #i never thought to teach him about household cleaner safety??? my mistake i gues???#anyway i get to work today and explain that i am coughing not due to covid but due to toxic fume exposure #and turns out that MY BOSS. A LEGIT SCIENTIST IN HER 40S AT LEAST. Also did not know mixing bleach with vinegar or ethanol or stuff was bad #anywy yea um. i am in pain but ok no hospital necessary at least 😞#chemical safety #bleach
