How would you describe Hecate Hardbroom to someone who's never watched TWW? How would you make them a fan of Hecate before they've seen a single episode?

Think Snape. Only taller, gayer, and more Extra than you could possibly imagine. Plus will actually protect the children under her care because she’s a good educator, and not because she didn’t bang one of their parents twenty years ago. Also, gay. 

And I’d totally put them through my Hecate tag and all the amazing gifsets. That’s how I got hooked!

stop the world (I want to get off) | Hecate&Mildred (touch of Hicsqueak) | FR15 | 4000 wordsAfter another run in with HB, Mildred decides to run away. Before she can leave, however, she is once again caught in the Mists. 

(AKA Miss Hardbroom takes a small selection of girls to the Sanderson School for Exceptional Witches for a large scale Spelling Bee. Whilst there, HB encounters not only Pippa but her old teachers - and one of the girls who made her life hell. In not her finest hour, Hecate takes out her anger on Mildred. Tired of always getting picked on, Mildred snaps back. After being sent to her room, Mildred decides to leave Cackle’s and find another witching school. But whilst the rest of the castle slumbers, the Mists form. Mildred heads back in after getting lost outside, unaware of her change in surroundings, only to help a young witch being picked on. Hecate Hardbroom: all long limbs and unshed tears. Full of unspent rage, it takes only one conversation with Mildred for Hecate to want to put a stop to all this torment, to all these silly witches. Mildred has to stop Hecate from doing something stupid, and to return her world to the way it once was. Once back in her own time, Mildred knocks on Miss Hardbroom’s door and the two finally have a long talk.)

When the teachers talked about the annihilation spell and Hecate thought it was her fault that the school was partly destroyed someone (Ada!?) should have given/offered her a hug.

TBH it’s clear that Hecate wasn’t given nearly enough hugs during the Summer Break. 

What's your ultimate Hecate Harbdroom headcanon?

That Hecate trashed her and Pippa’s friendship because of Gay Panic™. I know we’ve all accepted it as fanon but it’s such an integral part of her that it has to be my ultimate head canon. 

Also, I have decided that Pippa knew that Hecate had feelings for her and was patiently waiting for Hecate to make a move and was consequently devastated when she upended their friendship. 

2.02 “The Friendship Trap” Miss Hardbroom is suspicious of the mysterious new art teacher. 

I am very excited at the prospect of more HB on Monday! :)

(AKA Hecate doesn’t listen to her own words, and does magic in anger. After hearing whispers of Pippa romancing her (much younger) deputy head, Hecate throws herself into her work. Unfortunately, her potion goes awry and Hecate Hardbroom goes from fearsome deputy head to a thirteen year old witch. Ada is sympathetic, but suggests that Hecate use this time as a learning opportunity. Hecate is sent to room with Mildred (who is asked by Ada to keep an eye on HB’s ‘niece’). Unsurprisingly, young!Hecate rubs everyone up the wrong way and doesn’t win any friends. She changes her tune when Pippa and her students arrive for the annual Spelling Bee, and Hecate is drafted to take part.)

Unf I know. Just…gorgeous. I really like the new look, it suits her so much. Although I hope we get the dress back at some point. I am 100% in favour of a mixed wardrobe for Hecate.
