Vaggie: Okay, run this by me again. How did you run over Alastor? Lucifer: Charlie and I were going for a drive and I saw him crossing the road. Lucifer: So I said “Charlie, deer.” Vaggie:…And then what happened? Charlie:…I said “yes, Dad?”

Welcome to Lust: Chaggie
Vaggie: (sitting in the back of the Morningstar family Cadillac, dressed up in a deep, purple skirt and blouse combo) This is pretty unexpected, babe. What's the occasion?
Charlie: (sitting next to Vaggie, dressed in a long, backless crimson dress that has Vaggie's mind short circuiting) We haven't had any time to ourselves in ages! Plus, with the war against the Extermination and rebuilding the hotel, I figured we were in desperate need of a date night!
Vaggie: That's awfully sweet, hun. But- (watches as the car reaches the heart of Pentagram City and starts speeding towards a purple tunnel) -where exactly are we going?
Charlie: Oh! Since you aren't a Sinner, I figured we could go outside the Pride ring!
Vaggie: (mental glass shatter) To...where?
Charlie: Punch it, Razzle!
Razzle: (in the driver's seat, gives an adorable thumbs up) Baaaaaaap!
Vaggie: (clings to the seats so hard her nails pop the leather as the car speeds forward and zooms through a magic portal) Chaaaarlie!!!!
Charlie: (hands up in the air like she's on a rollercoaster) Woohoooooooo!
-The car manifests in a purple-blue hued city. Neon lights of lips, XXX's, genitalia, the occasional stripper pole, and "Sex" illuminate the streets in blue, pink, and purple lights.-
Vaggie: (blushes furiously as her whole thought process goes offline, and the car pulls up to a large, pink establishment with a line circling around the block) Ch-Charlie??!????
Charlie: (excitedly) Welcome to the Lust ring, Vaggie! I've had an invitation to attend a show for a while now, but never had someone I wanted to go with! (Scrambles out of the car and opens Vaggie's door)
Vaggie: Lust ring? Ozzie's? As in the House of Asmodeous? (Absentmindedly follows Charlie out of the car, up to the front door, and into the lusty dinner theater illuminated in blues, red, and pink) Dinner theater????
Charlie: I'm sorry I didn't tell you where we were going earlier, Vaggie. I've always wanted to check this place out, but the rules are pretty strict. Even if the owner is-
Ozzie: (explodes into existence next to the VIP table Charlie and Vaggie are sitting) Charlie, Baby!!! It's about damn time you finally accept that invitation of mine! A hundred years is a long time to make me wait~
Charlie: Uncle Ozzie! (Jumps up and gives Ozzie a hug)
Vaggie: Ooooooh....fuck.....

After losing you a few days ago, Heaven was fine, no one knew what happened between you and Sera- except Adam but he kept quiet, He didn’t like you after what you did to Lute, he felt rather humbled from when you stopped and dragged him back to Heaven and it pissed him off entirely.
Sera was at her desk, finishing her work in the same room that had been covered by your blood days before but she cleaned that up before anyone would discover the incident. It was all fine until-
knock, knock, knock.
“Come in.” Sera says as she put her attention away from the papers she was focusing on, she sat up straight before Emily came in, panting and disheveled, a worried look on her face, “Emily?” Sera’s body relaxed into her seat, seeing as it was only her sister and not some official business, “What is the matter dear?” Sera asked with concern as Emily ran up to her desk tossed down whatever she had in her hands, “Where’s Y/n?” Emily asked, “The stars she made around the city are hurting, I can feel their pain.”
Sera looked down at her desk to see stars Emily gathered, they chimed weakly in sorrow, Sera didn’t know what to do but she did know what to say, “Y/n is…” she pauses, trying to remember the cover up story she made for your absence, “Y/n became fallen.” Sera says, Emily shocked and surprised, “but how? she says, trying to find any reason why you would, “A few days ago, she hurt many of our people, our people,” she half lied, “so she had to go.”
Emily looked down at the weakened stars on the desk, the stars seemed to have sensed your absence in Heaven and that’s when they began to grow bleak, “I didn’t even get to say goodbye,” Emily saddened, holding up one of the stars that squeaked to her, trying to tell them it’s woes, “how come no one told me about her becoming fallen?” she asks her sister, feeling a bit hurt from being left out in the blue, “she’s was hostile and dangerous,” Sera stated, lying behind your back to keep Emily at bay, “She had to dealt with quickly and she was.” She spoke, Emily softly poking the star with a boop to comfort it, “A week ago, I started sensing their dismay and before you know it, they are slowly becoming weaker,” Emily says as she walked around the desk to get close to her sister, she gave the star to Sera to hold, to see if Sera could feel their pain.
Sera held it with both hands, observing the star, the star sensed Sera’s presence and touch, it squeaked in sorrow before it crumbled in Sera’s hands, making both the Seraphim’s wide eye in shock, “oh no, what happened?” Emily says confused, taking the dust out of Sera’s hands rather quickly, no longer feeling any consciousness of the crumbled star, “why did it just..?” Emily tries to ask, not wanting to accept its loss, she took the other stars off the desk, scared they might fall apart as well.
Sera tried to think, it was one problem after another to her, she got rid of you for her own sake, realizing now she might have just jeopardized the balance of Heaven for all her people thanks to losing you because of her own selfishness, Sera sighed before standing up out of her seat, “I don’t know, Emily,” She said, honestly for once during their entire conversation, “but what I do know is that without someone with the ability to make the stars, all the stars might fade away too, especially the ones that work and help our people on a daily basis.” She states, walking to her younger sister, holding her hands in hers, “I’ll try and figure something out for our people, okay?” She comforts her, kissing her head before going back to sit at her desk to continue to work.
Emily quietly left the office without another word, she looked at her hands, after Sera had contact with your stars, the others crumbled to nothing but dust as well. Emily couldn’t help but wonder, where are you now? and are you okay? She would never know the answers but all she can do is hope that you are.

You stared blankly in surprise after watching Alastor fight off Sir Pentious and launch him away in the air to who knows where, “well, it looks as though I need a visit to the tailor, best of luck, chums.” He waves off, “wait, you’re leaving?” You asked before Vaggie stepped in, “Alastor, we need your help, we need you to do your job.” She spoke before Angel added in, “we need a wall.” deadpanning.
“of course!” Alastor replied before he turned back, can’t let my project fall into disrepair already, what would the papers say?” he asked, snapping his fingers before walking away again, Angel shoving Vaggie away as he giggles, you caught Vaggie as she landed in your arms, giving you a quiet “thanks.” making Charlie smile at you both.
“Maybe we should head to the city? how about we find some new recruits? just us three!” Charlie offers, wrapping her arm around you and Vaggie, reeling you in for a hug side hug, “Sure, I’d love to help! after all, you did help me out a lot.” You smile as you stepped away from her hug, standing next to her before you three began to walk together towards the city.
“So I was thinking,” You say as you began a conversation with Charlie, “Since i’m staying at the Hotel and I can actually stop the extermination, what if we advertised protection from it?” You offered, thinking maybe it could be a good idea that would convince the public, “that’s actually quite smart.” Vaggie praised, making your heart swell in joy that she liked the idea, “really?” you ask, seeing if she meant it, “really!” Charlie exclaimed, bumping her arm into yours lightly with a smile on his face.
Upon walking into the city, you finally saw sinners and demons walking around the streets, since the last time you were here- everyone evacuated when you first arrived- you were rather excited to see so many people.
“So how are we gonna do this?” You chimed eagerly, walking backwards in front of Vaggie and Charlie, “do we go door to door or do we make an assembly?” You asked, tilting your head slightly, not noticing that some of the demons had already noticed you and began to hide.
Charlie smiled as she summoned paper with her ability, “here,” she says, handing you a flyer, “we walk up to sinners, person to person to advert their full attention! So it has everything you need to say to talk about the hotel.” She explains. You took the paper, skimming through the words to understand what you had to say or promote, “okay! I’ll go do just that!” You smiled.
“We’ll meet back up here at this spot and bring anyone we find.” Charlie says, giving Vaggie a flyer too, “Okay, I’ll be on my way then!” You say as you waved at them both before walking in your own direction, exploring the city.
You took turns and corners down the city, walking up to sinners of all sorts, tall or small, “Hi! Would you be interested to join us at the Hazbin Hotel?” You’d offer, only for them to back away or run off in fear or a hurry. It wasn’t long until people began to avoid you as a whole, feeling the same feeling you did when you first walked down these streets, “hello?” You’d call out into the empty streets once again, it wasn’t exactly the same as last time though, the people were just hiding this time.
“I mean no harm!” You shouted, slightly desperate for anyone to acknowledge your statement but no one seemed to do so, “I’m an angel- yes, but I can protect you from extermination like I have last time!” You tried to reason, only to hear a voice in the distance shout, “you made the extermination deadline shorter!” Making you falter at their claim, understanding now that they avoid and blame you for the new deadline than rather praise you for stopping the last extermination.
You sighed in defeat as you began to walk again, heading back to the regrouping spot, holding up the flyer to look at. You stared at handmade drawing on it with the big red hotel and a little Charlie on it making a small smile form on your face , ‘maybe they had luck trying to find recruits?’ You thought, trying to comfort yourself as you continued to walk.
As you walked down the empty streets, demons and sinners that were hiding around in corners and alleys were holding up their phones, taking photos and recordings of you as you walked, making you feel uneasy by yourself, you were wishing you could just fly away but your wings were still healing, perhaps you should help heal them quicker using some of your mana tonight, you thought as you hugged yourself.
You picked up your pace slightly, feeling more paranoid by yourself from the inaudible whispers, when you turned the corner, you smiled as you shouted to Charlie and waved, relieved to see the two familiar faces again, “Charlie! I’m back.” You called, stopping in front of her with a smile, “Y/n! How’d it go?” She asks, making your smile falter, “oh, uhm,” you began, looking away, “I couldn’t get anyone.” You confessed, disappointed in yourself, “Oh,” she says a little upset before brushing it off with a smile again, “well that’s alright!” She comforted, “the day has just begun so we have all day to look around the city!” she chimed, raising her hand in the air, only for the city lights to flicker and shut down, “or not…” she says, raising her arm down, the only light source being their eyes, except you, “wow you glow so pretty.” Charlie says to you, making Vaggie look at you as well, “Yeah, you light up like a star, even your eyes glow- wait are your pupils like shooting stars?” She says as she smiles, you wave off their compliments shyly, getting embarrassed from their sudden flattery remarks, “heh, yeah, it’s mostly my wings that glow though but right now they’re… ehhh..” you trailed off, looking at your bandaged wings and shrugging.
It wasn’t long until you started hearing screaming, the city power going out was now making the city panic in a frenzy, “wait, what’s going on?” You asked, now seeing demons were running rampant and started getting hostile, “well- you see-“ Charlie tries to explain before a car flipped over next to her, making her jump in fright, “when the power of the city goes out- so does the internet…” Charlie explains, taking your hand, “which is why I think it’s best if we just head back to the hotel for the day.” She says, dragging you slightly as you ran from the city, Vaggie using an angelic spear to protect you both as you followed back to the hotel.
✧•✧•✧•✧•✧•✧•✧
Unbeknownst to you, Alastor and his rival were arguing through radio and video, making the power in hell go out. In a small meeting room of the Vee’s Tower, they talked about the radio demon and Charlie Morningstar, not to mention ‘miss shooting star,’ and how she would become a great use to them, specifically you.
✧•✧•✧•✧•✧•✧•✧
You groaned, completely exhausted from the running and walking for half an hour, you three walked back in the Hotel, you hadn’t run in so long, you were completely out of it as you ‘plomped’ into the ground, in the same place as you did when you first arrived, Charlie plopping onto the sofa, tired as well. “So how’d it go?” Angel smirked, scrolling through his phone, “Not a single new recruit.” Vaggie said as she leans against the sofas arm rest, sighing.
You lift your head up from the ground, looking up to see the black kitty cleaning herself next to you, “Hey what’s her name?” You ask, hoping someone would answer, “her names Keekee, she’s the embodiment of the hotel.” Vaggie says, turning to you before hearing a knock at the door, “Keekeeee..” you called for her, scooting closer to her as her tiny paws lifted her up to walk closer to you. She rubbed her face against yours, purring, making your pupils dilate in pure joy, eyes sparkling.
You made a star and waved it around keekee, making her chase it like a red laser light. You giggled as you played with her, meanwhile Charlie got up to follow Vaggie to the door, passing by you and smiling at how comfortable you were beginning to feel in her hotel.
You sat up as you moved the star around with a swing of your finger, Keekee spinning in circles and chasing the star, you let her catch it eventually, she picked it up, jumping into your arms and purring, you stood up with Keekee in arms and turned to see the snake serpent from earlier with Charlie, you decided to talk to them to find out what’s going on, “hey Charlie, who’s the new guy?” You asked, the snake slithered behind Charlie after seeing you, “oh, he’s our new resident, Sir Pentious!” She exclaims excited before moving to the side to introduce the serpent to you, “Pentious, this is Y/n, she is also one of our staff members!” Charlie smiles as you stepped closer to Sir Pentious, “it’s nice to meet you,” you smile at him, with Keekee still in arms, “oh- and this is Keekee!” You say, lifting her up to show her to him as he waved nervously at you both, Keekee hissed at Sir Pentious and jumped out of your arms, making you frown with an “aww.”
“Okay, today, how about we start with some exercises?” Charlie asks, walking to the parlor, gathering a few of your attention, “Now! With a new resident, I think it’s important we all get to know each other, so we are going to play a little game.” Charlie says as you sat in a circle, sitting between Sir Pentious and Angel Dust, “everyone, follow me,” she says as she smiled, “my name is Charlie,” she clapped twice before kneeling down next to Vaggie, “I like to sing,” clap, clap, “and when we get to know each other, it’s the greatest thing!” She chimes, clapping twice again before gesturing her hand toward Sir Pentious, signaling it was his turn.
“My name’s Sir Pentious,” he clapped twice, nervously, “I like to build,” clap, clap, “and despite my stupid Egg Bois, I think i’m very skilled,” he clapped twice, happy about how smoothly he manages to play his part before gesturing his hand to you, signaling it was your turn now, you nervously sat up as you began, “uhh, my name is Y/n,” you clapped, slightly off beat, “I’m a former seraphim,” you clapped twice, on beat this time, “and if you can’t tell, I’m not good with rhythm.” You clapped, wanting the attention off of you from your silly act. You gestured your arm quickly to Angel who was on his phone, “this is stupid.” He deadpanned, looking up from his device, “this is not stupid,” Charlie clapped twice, walking toward Angel, “it’s just the game,” she smiled clapping again, “these two did it well so please try to do the same!” She sung, clapping twice as she leaned toward Angel.
“I am too sober for this.” He says, as he rubbed his temples, looking down, “Well, get used to it and learn how to play, this is gonna be your whole day.” Vaggie says before clapping twice, making you snicker a laugh. “Well how about we try something else?” Charlie says as she stepped back in the circle, “oh, I have an idea!!” You chimed, raising and waving your hand rather excitedly, “alright, what do you have in mind?” Charlie asks, you stand up before bringing Charlie’s hand together with your own, oblivious to Vaggie who immediately stood up for what ever reason, you used your ability to make a portion of cosmic dust into her hands, walking to do the same with the others, “what’s this for?” Charlie asked, looking at the glowing and sparkling dust in her hands, “It’s cosmic dust! I’m going to show you how to make stars.” You smiled, giving some to Sir Pentious and going to Angel, “ooh, this sounds rather interesting.” Charlie smiles, sitting down next to Vaggie, who also sat down next to her.
After giving everyone a portion of cosmic dust you were now in the lead to direct everyone, “okay so first, you want to try and shape out the dust into the form of a star as best you can.” you explained as you gave them a visual guidance with your own hands. “Next, you want to crush it together until it hardens and molds, easy right?” You smiled as you showed them the steps again, a star forming in your hands.
You giggled as you watched Sir Pentious try, only for it to explode in his face like he popped a balloon with glitter, “here, let’s try again,” you say as you summoned more dust for him, “first you shape it, then crush it like this!” You say as you guided him, thoroughly, the star wasn’t shaped perfectly but it was in his eyes as they sparkled from the new creation he had made. You walked off to help Charlie and Vaggie but you saw Charlie make it almost perfectly, “woah that’s amazing, not everyone can get it this well on their first try!” You complimented her, looking at the perfect curves on the star, “Oh, it’s not my first time, my dad used to teach me how to make them when I was younger!” She informs, making your heart stop for a moment, “oh, your dad, huh?” You pondered, “yeah, he used to always make them for some reason, he showed me how but it’s been a while since I have made one.” She said, raising the star close to her again, “that’s lovely…” you say as you stepped back, “I’m gonna go check on Angel since you got it, how about helping Vaggie?” You smiled, seeing as the dust had covered her face too.
You walked to Angel and kneeled down, “so how’s it going?” You asked. He looked up at you, seeing as he didn’t even bother to try, the dust still in his hands, “what do you think?” He says sarcastically, “well, I think you just need a little push!” You say, taking his hands toward you, shaping the star and helping him hold his hands together to mold it, “okay, now what?” He asked, not really interested, you laughed lightly, taking the star from his hands and clasping it into your own before opening your hands and giving the star back to Angel.
He looked at the star, seeing it was as the same until the star chimed, it blinked open its eyes, making Angel Dust blink in surprise, the star was now alive as it floated in Angels hand “now you get to keep it!” You say, going back to Pentious to make his star sentient as well.
You walked to Sir Pentious, who was still admiring how it glowed, you took it from him quickly, drawing his attention with a frown, giving it back to him quickly than he could say anything, his smile grew twice as much when the star squeaked in his hands, “this is such the sweetest thing.” Sir Pentious spoke before asking you, “Can it do labor?” With a serious tone, you nodded before walking away to Charlie and Vaggie, “perfect.” He said with a mischievous grin.
“So, how’s it going here?” You asked, as you kneeled down to the ground, “it’s actually going pretty well right now,” Charlie said, showing you both their stars, you smiled as you took them in your hands and admired their details, for some reason, you began to feel sentimental, you looked up at Charlie and for a second- you saw Lucifer. You blinked in surprise, shocked from your own delusions, you leaned away from them for a moment, just to see it was Charlie again, “are you alright?” Charlie asked, you recompose yourself with a quick, “yeah, yeah, sorry,” you sat up again, giving them both their stars, “I wanna try something with you, Charlie.” You requested, putting the star in her hand, “what is it?” She asked, “the star,” you pointed at it, “make it sentient.” You demanded, softly.
“How do I do that?” She asked, slightly confused at your request, “if you have powers like your father, there’s a chance you can make it come alive, just focus.” You smiled, sitting patiently as she looked at the star before closing her eyes and channeling her power through into it. The star began to emit a soft golden glow making your eyes widen in awe, that nostalgic feeling gnawing at you now and before you know it, the star chimed, shocking you completely, “oh my stars, you did it!” You squealed, leaning toward the star in her hand giggling in excitement, “I did?” She asked, surprised that you were fawning over her sentient creation, “yes! No Angel in Heaven were able to make sentient stars like me,” you say as you sat up again, “but you can!” You beamed, happy to find someone who could, “I’m just so happy a long life dream of mine became reality.” You smiled, feeling less alone in your unique abilities, “My father also taught me how do this, you know.” She smiled making you pause in surprise, “he did??” You say, surprised, “yeah, he said while Luna- uhm- you were making stars, he’d always watch you and eventually, he learned in your steps.” She smiled, making you feel mixed emotions of longing and disgust, one set of your mind feeling happy that he was strongly interested in your passions but the other felt rather insulted, like he took you own skills as his own, you didn’t know how to respond without feeling rather emotional to Charlie so you decided to avoid the subject of topic.
“That’s really nice and all,” you waved off the topic of Lucifer, “but how about we go to the next exercise of the day?” You asked, Charlie smiled and stood up, “for the next thing I want us to do is put on a little play,” she said, helping Vaggie up, “you guys wait here, I’ll go and get the others.” She smiled as she walked away from the parlor and into the lobby, leaving you four alone together. Sir Pentious was distracted, playing with the star he had made and Angel was on his phone, the star tucked in his chest fluff, leaving you and Vaggie staring at each other awkwardly, “so..” you began, “that weapon you carry around,” you pointed at Vaggie, “where’d you get it?” You asked, a little of hostility in your voice, knowing that exorcists bring harm to sinners, “Oh- I uh…” she stuttered, looking away from you, “I found it after one of the exterminations a few years back?” She shrugged, smiling nervously, making you stand up unconvinced, “I don’t wanna invade your privacy or anything but what happened to your eye?” You asked, pointing at your own, making her step back, you realized you were making her uncomfortable so you sighed, realizing your own anger, “sorry,” you apologized, “seeing you hold that weapon, really set me on edge earlier,” you explained, “I trust that you are using it to keep others safe?” You smiled, trying to sound comforting in way for her to understand, she nodded as well, “yeah, I use it to keep the others safe.” She smiled, turning to you, Charlie came back with Husk, Niffty and Alastor, stopping you from continuing your conversation, “perhaps you could explain another time?” You asked, Vaggie nodded in agreement, making you turn and walk away towards the sofa.
You sat next to Sir Pentious on the sofa as the others came along to join, Husk sat in the chair as Niffty squabbled around behind the sofa, staring deeply at Sir Pentious much to your disliking, it was rather uncomfortable, Vaggie sat next to Pentious on the other end and Alastor stood next to you. “Okay so between our two residents, i’d like them to act out this script,” Charlie said, walking towards Pentious, “You are going to play the innocent young boy and Angel,” she turned to him, “You are going to play the creepy old man.” she smiled, giving him his script, “wait, seriously?” he deadpanned, looking away from his phone to look at the paper.
“Now what you need are some outfits!” she chimed, giving Sir Pentious and Angel outfits for the little play, “just put these on and we can begin.” she said, sitting next to you after Pentious got up to put the clothes over his own.
After a while, Sir Pentious somehow had a comically large lollipop, licking the sugary treat, as Angel sighed, unenthusiastically, “oh, i’m a bad man on the streets, who never got enough hugs,” Angel began, looking at his script, “now, where’s an innocent kid I could sell crack too?” he asks, while you leaned forward in your seat, “wow, who wrote this?” Angel asks, baffled, “it’s great right?” Charlie smiled, making you look at her and Angel, “keep going!” she waved her hand downwards at him. “Hey, you,” Angel began again, pointing at Pentious before he looked back at his paper, “who, me?” Sir Pentious chimed, sparkling his eyes, “yeah, you look like a kid who could use some.. devil’s dandruff??” he questioned at the name, “oh, for fuck’s sake.” he said, rubbing a hand through his hair, “not me,” Sir Pentious said, shaking his head, “I have to go home and study!” he smiled, looking at Angel, “come on kid, it’ll make you cool like me..” Angel paused before looking up unimpressed, “the crack head.” “the only cool thing here is to say no to drugs,” Sir Pentious played on, shaking his head again, “now, if you’ll excuse me, i’m off to not have sexual intercourse before marriage!” he ginned, a hand to his chest with pride, proud of his act, Charlie stood up and clapped in amusement, “oh, bravo! bravo,” she smiled, walking to Pentious, “wow, Pentious, at this rate you’ll be redeemed in no time.” she complimented, you got up as well to join the conversation only to gaze at Angel as he spoke, “I.. I’m going to bed.” He said as he walked to the stairs with a frown, sensing that something was off, you watched him, concerned.
No one seemed to notice his mood as Charlie kept praising Sir Pentious for his wonderful acting, you decided to follow Angel, worried for him, sensing you could possibly relate to his troubles and through personal experience, you always wanted a shoulder to lean on so maybe that’s what he wanted as well? At least that’s what you think, “Angel, wait,” you called for him as you ran up the stairs. He stopped to turn to you, “what is it?” He asked bluntly, making you second guess yourself, “oh- uh- I noticed you might not be too happy” you stuttered, “so I just came to ask if you’re alright.” You say, a small smile wrying on your face, he sighed, “I’m fine.” He said, crossing his arms, avoiding your gaze, “okay, okay, well- if you need anything, I’m always here to help,” you offered, hugging your arm awkwardly, “if you need any at any time of course.” you say before turning away and going back to the others, “goodnight, Angel.” You waved at him, heading back downstairs with everyone else.
“And what do you think about my performance?” Sir Pentious asked, a little way too basked in with compliments, “oh- it was good,” you smiled at him, trying to go to Charlie to ask her something, “Hey Charlie, can I have some snacks?” You ask her, wanting to head to your room for the night, “Oh, sure! they’re in the kitchen down that hallway to the left.” She smiled, pointing to the direction, “thanks, i’m gonna head to my room for the night, so goodnight.” You waved at her, walking to the kitchen, hearing her telling you goodnight as well, not even acknowledging Sir Pentious was trying to talk to you.
After gathering yourself some snacks that might interest you, you waddled up to your room and laid in your bed, playing around with the sentient stars in your room that were raining star dust on the floor, they were making a mess but you didn’t mind as you just kept making more, munching away from your snacks. Your room was eventually covered in star and cosmic dust but to you, it was just a touch of your own decor, making feel more like you were at home.
It wasn’t long until you heard a thud through the walls, you sat up curiously until you heard shouting and fighting in the distance, you got out of your bed and walked out your room, seeing Charlie and Vaggie were also out of their rooms from the noise, Vaggie held that spear again, walking to the nearby room with muffled shouting, “What’s going on?” Charlie yawned, Vaggie standing next to her as you leaned to peek in the room, seeing it was Angel Dust and Sir Pentious, “this little bitch is a traitor!” Angel shouted, holding Pentious’ arm, “preposterous! I would never betray you…” Pentious exclaimed, slithering toward you and Charlie, “you… are my best friends!” he says hugging you both, making you smile that he sees you that way.
Angel was unimpressed from the facade he put on display for you three, “uh-huh, then explain this.” he said, pushing a book away from a hidden camera, making you drop your happy demeanor to hurt and surprise, it didn’t help when Pentious began to panic and started running towards the window, yelling at the watch in his wrist, demanding an evacuation. You were somewhat upset, you spent the entire day getting to know each other and it turned out to be he only did so because he was a spy? You wanted to just throw him out but you stopped yourself from getting close when you overheard the voice on his watch, “Pentious? Wait… you were caught?!” The voice questioned, “it hasn’t even been a day!” The voice laughed, you walked up to Pentious, looming over his conversation curiously, seeing who he was talking to, “please, you’ve got to get me out of here!” Pentious pleaded as you saw the unfamiliar voice had a head shaped like a T.V. with blue toned colors, you were at a loss for words, for some reason, this situation felt horribly nostalgic, it made you feel unforgiving and aggravated.
“I can’t believe we thought you could handle even something this simple,” the voice continued, rather disappointed, “do us a favor, if they don’t kill you,” he turned to Pentious, glaring at him, blue static emitting around it the watch, “go ahead and do it yourself, you miserable failure.” It finished, turning off, you looked at Pentious who was tearing up in disbelief, “I… I,” he paused before turning to the other three, “just make it quick, I guess..” he said, throwing his watch away and laying on the ground, you kicked the watch away in spite of the person that said cruel words, stepping toward Pentious “gladly.” Vaggie said as she held up her spear, seemingly more upset than you, you wanted to stop her but Charlie lowered her weapon, making you halt and step back, all you wanted to do was throw him out. “Wait,” Charlie said, walking to the crying serpent, “Pentious?” Charlie called to him, holding out a hand for him, He looked up at her confused before she began, “it starts with sorry.” She smiled at him, he blinked twice before taking her hands and she lifted him up as you were caught off guard from how seemingly forgiving Charlie was. “The path to forgiveness is a twisting trail of hearts but sorry is where it starts.” She began, trying to continue Pentious’ path to redemption, “it’s just a rough start but it’s just the beginning.” Charlie comforted Pentious, you were puzzled from the situation, he had betrayed everyone’s trust and yet, Charlie was stepping first, forgiving him.
“Who could forgive a dirt bag like me?” Pentious began to cry, making you step out the room to collect your own thoughts, “I don’t deserve your amnesty.” He said, lying on the ground again, Vaggie and Angel walked in unenthusiastically and indifferent, holding out weapons, “can’t we just kill him? Shoot him and spill his blood?” They asked, cornering him with their weapons, you didn’t bother with the conversation anymore as you were lost in your own thoughts, you didn’t even notice Niffty came along and stood next to you, watching.
While you leaned on the door, lost in thought, you didn’t notice Pentious came up to you and took your hand in his, “I just wanted to apologize for how I may have hurt you.” He said, looking at you with sincerity, “and?” You asked, unconvinced of his apology, “I genuinely did enjoy making stars with you today and was hoping we could make some more some other time?” He smiled at you, making your cold attitude change, you looked away from him to think, his expression displayed of genuine and promise, making you smile somewhat, you turn back to him, moving your hands away from his and gave him a simple answer, “sure,” you say with a soft smile, “but if you pull something like this again, you can see yourself against Vaggie spear.” You threatened, putting up a cold facade, half joking. You didn’t want anyone hurt but you also didn’t want yourself to hurt either.
Charlie sighed, satisfied with Pentious and his apologies full of sincerity, “good first day,” she said, putting a hand around Vaggie’s waist, smiling, “let’s get some rest,” She says, dismissing everyone for the night, “goodnight guys.” Charlie waved at everyone who left to their rooms.
You closed the door behind you as you entered your room, your stars were floating around as they chimed in your room. You walked to your bed and jumped into it, sighing in relief to finally be in bed again, you laid there for a moment before sitting up, thinking again, Sir Pentious wasn’t the first to betray you and seeing Charlie being so forgiving made you feel some sort of spark.. and you pondered as to why. Her guidance to forgiveness made you give Sir Pentious a second chance…
So if on that fateful night..
If you had listened to Lucifer, if you had gave a second chance…
Would things be different with the two of you? Or was it him just trying to use you like your mind has told you all these years?
You didn’t have any answers to your questions as you sighed, you grabbed the snacks you had left on the other side of your bed and began to munch on them again, sort of just eating to get your mind off things. You then tried to grab one of your wings carefully, guiding the stars that floated in your room to your injured feathers and used their stardust to heal the wounds you began to unwrap, they still looked awful but the blood has dried up long ago at least, you then carefully groomed your wings one at a time, letting dust gently lay on your cuts, healing them after a bit. You spent hours of the night healing the tiniest wounds you possibly had, practicing on yourself to learn how to heal better over time as the whole process for all your wings made you stay up through the whole night, you eventually fell asleep without even knowing.

CHAPTER TWO
Once again, you found yourself having no clue what you signed up for. At this point, it was on you. You should have learned your lesson the last time you put your trust in someone.
This time, instead of being booted through a portal into hell, you were being dressed up like a doll. The outfit you arrived in wasn’t ‘hellspawn’ enough so Charlie was throwing a plethora of outfits at you and seeing what stuck. You had to admit, you liked how the new clothes looked on you, but Charlie would scrutinize them before changing them again.
Personally, you thought you were being a pretty good sport about it.
Just when you thought it was over, she dragged you in front of her vanity before darting out of the room. This worried you. It was safe enough to assume she was going to do something with your hair or makeup, but what did she need that wasn’t already here?
You began looking around her bedroom, taking in the details of the rich maroon wallpaper and the way the wood paneling complemented it in both shape and color. Her bed was truly something to be envious of, though. It seemed to be even bigger than a king, and the canopy frame allowed her to have translucent and opaque purple curtains draped in layers above it.
It was possible the entirety of the hotel could look like this once it was thoroughly scrubbed down and decorated. A diamond in the rough, if you will.
You could probably afford to stick around for a day to help deep clean. They were doing so much for you despite being a stranger who had (politely) broken in. Had you been in their shoes, you would have done them in with an iron skillet first and asked questions later (in the courtroom).
You jumped as Charlie came scrambling back in with what seemed to be tubes of paint. You couldn’t help but feel concerned for what was to come.
The paint was squeezed into a bowl with a squelching sound similar to a ketchup bottle towards the end of its life. She reached across you to grab a makeup brush and began mixing it together.
Where did she think she was gonna put that?
You barely had time to react before she dragged the cold wet brush across your cheek. It only took her a minute to completely lather your face. You dared to look at yourself in the vanity mirror as she moved on to cover the rest of your exposed skin. Her gentleness tickled as the brush swept across your arms. She kept it rather neat to your surprise.
“Don’t worry. We just need to get the base down, and then we can spruce it up!” she chirped.
When you asked what there was to get ready for, this was not what you imagined. You could understand not wanting to look like a bum when meeting new people, but to go this far… Meeting a parent shouldn’t even matter if you’re not dating their kid. There was nothing you had to prove to Charlie’s father. Especially since you wouldn’t see him again so long as everything went according to plan.
The actual reason Vaggie suggested this was far more reasonable.
No, they weren’t just doing this to make you look pretty. They wanted to hide you completely. The idea was to make you look like a demon to the best of their ability in hopes of avoiding any unwanted attention. You understood why. Your first hour or so in Hell was pretty traumatic to say the least.
Vaggie went on to list all the things that could happen to you if you were found as a human, which did not help your nerves one bit. You could end up on someone’s dinner plate, or your teeth could be sold on the not-so-black market for a pretty hefty price. Your bucket list may be lengthy, but having your parts being used as someone else’s decor was sure as shit not on it.
Charlie tried to reassure you that her childhood home wouldn’t be so dangerous. However, she couldn’t promise her dad would have a positive reaction to a human wandering around, so it would still be safer to go in disguise. It would also draw far less attention from the staff, meaning you wouldn’t be stuck there so long.
You really got the vibe that she had daddy issues from how much she emphasized it being a quick trip. Not to mention her reluctance to go in the first place…
Charlie finished up the base coat of paint and moved on to add details to make it more realistic. She then adjusted your hairstyle to cover your hairline where the edges of paint were most noticeable.
“Okay, okay, now the final touch…” she said as she bounced over to her closet behind you.
You couldn’t see what she was grabbing. You only felt something being placed on your head. Before you could look in the mirror, Charlie invaded your view and shoved a pair of glasses onto your face.
You were dragged over to her golden cheval mirror.
“Grand reveal!”
You certainly didn’t look human anymore. Your natural complexion was completely hidden, and the thing Charlie placed upon your head was a pair of fake horns, which she was bobby-pinning in place to ensure they’d stay put. The outfit itself you really liked, but the glasses she had chosen were in the shape of large hearts with bold red tint.
You felt so goofy.
You’d rather be offered up to one of the demonic cannibals than be caught looking like this in the living world. Your only solace was that the majority of people in Hell looked even stranger than you. That, and the amount of coverage you had made you feel like you were wearing a mask that you could hide behind..
“You look…amazing!” Charlie sang, hopping up and down a little. You may have felt a little embarrassed by your get-up, but the joy on her face nearly made it worth it. “Come on, we have to show Vaggie!”
You trailed behind her down the stairs where Vaggie was waiting to send the two of you off. She couldn’t tag along due to prior arrangements. If you remembered correctly, she was going to be interviewing potential guests for the hotel. Real guests rather than a human who had washed up on their doorstep.
“Vaggie, Vaggie, look!” Charlie called. “You would never guess she was human, right?”
Vaggie looked you up and down analytically before locking onto your face.
“It turned out pretty good, but, uh…” She gestured at her own eyes rather than pointing at you. “What’s with the shades?”
“Well…Her eyes were the only thing I couldn’t really disguise, so the sunglasses will keep them from being visible!” Charlie said with a big grin, clasping her hands together in front of her chest. “They’re also so cute.”
She and you must have very different tastes, but who knows, this could be what was trendy here in Hell. Even if it wasn’t, she made a good point. Of the few demons you’d seen, none of their eyes looked like a typical human’s.
Two beeps from outside the hotel were your cue it was time to head out.
“It’ll go great,” Vaggie said to Charlie, rubbing her back.
“Right…we’ll be back soon!” Charlie said as she led you outside where a white and pink limo was waiting.
Oh. So she was rich then.
You figured the hotel itself wasn’t too cheap, but the condition it was in didn’t make it seem like it would break the bank. This was a clue into Charlie’s status that had yet to be revealed to you.
The drive through town allowed you to take in the sights rather than watching it all blur by whilst running for your life. There was a good range of shops between ‘normal enough’ to ‘I’d expect no less from Hell.’ Some sold electronics and furniture while others advertised hitman services.
You were pretty sure you passed a vending machine that sold hard drugs.
Watching the denizens made you thankful that you were in the safety of the car. A woman in a business suit doing lines off a public bench before waltzing into the city library. A sketchy dude hanging around the outside of a rundown playground… He seemed to be mocking one of the kids before it launched itself at him, going straight for the jugular.
You looked away before you witnessed something you’d regret.
Charlie caught your eye, shooting you a wide grin. You did your best to smile back.
You wondered where her father would fall on the spectrum of people here. Would he be out for blood like the majority of folks you’d seen? If so, you’d be with Charlie trying to get out of there as quickly as you could.
“Park down here, please!” you heard Charlie say to the driver after a while.
Your surroundings hadn’t changed much from where you started out. The city did seem to be a bit more residential in this area, but the level of chaos remained the same.
You followed Charlie out of the vehicle, expecting to walk into one of the many townhouses lining the uneven street. Instead, she took you down a few blocks and around a corner. It was as if she didn’t want your arrival to be known. To be fair, you didn’t either. The thought of any interactions with Hell-dwellers beyond Charlie and Vaggie made you nervous.
You found yourself standing in front of tall golden gates attached to a stone wall that encircled a grand manor. It was massive, at least twice the size of the hotel, with elegant gold detailing around the windows and pillars. Even though it was gorgeous, you were a little thrown off by its odd shapes and red stripes that reminded you of a circus tent.
It was quite the niche aesthetic…
The front door opened as soon as the two of you reached the top of the stairs, greeted by a small red demon. He had black and white striped horns and wore a cute little suit that reminded you of a butler.
“Welcome back, miss,” he said, dipping his head a bit as he stepped aside to let us in. “I was unaware you would be visiting. Is your father expecting you?”
“Oh, no…” Charlie began fiddling with her hair. “We were just passing by when I remembered I wanted to…pick something up! It’s good to see you. I wish we could catch up, but my friend and I are on a tight schedule.”
Her laugh was forced as she grabbed your shoulders and began pushing you down the hall, ignoring the way you stumbled along. She told you that there would be a room where her dad kept an array of magical tools and artifacts. Most were gifts to earn his favor, she explained.
It made you wonder what sort of industry he was a part of where people were trying to suck up to such a degree.
Pictures lined the hallways with the majority having Charlie as the subject. Their golden frames contrasted nicely against the striped red wallpaper.
You couldn’t help but stop to look at one from when she was in an awkward preteen phase of her life. She was quick to notice and pull you away with a red face. You couldn’t help but chuckle.
Your relationship with Charlie was nothing deep. The two of you had only met the day before, afterall. But seeing bits of her past like this felt intimate in a way one would share memories with a friend. You hoped it didn’t embarrass her too much.
Maybe you would show her some of your baby pictures to make up for it later.
“Oh, this was my old bedroom! One second, there’s something I do want to grab,” she said as she pulled you to a stop before darting inside.
You peeked in through the doorway. It was similar to her current bedroom in some ways, another canopy bed with a plethora of drapery around it and a beautiful vanity with a soft glow emanating from behind it. Yet it was clear that it once belonged to a child from the stuffed animal collection and softer color palette.
Charlie had wandered over to a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf, rummaging through it as she searched for whatever it was she remembered.
You waited outside the doorway. It felt inappropriate to enter a place so sentimental to someone who was largely still a stranger to you. Seeing so many portraits from her past already seemed like a breach of her privacy even though you couldn’t help it. It’s not like you could wander around the halls with your eyes closed.
As you turned away from her room, a small man came strutting around the corner, donned in all white save for a red waistcoat and black knee-high boots. He was about to proceed down the hall perpendicular to yours before skidding to a halt.
His head whipped around to face you, and you froze.
Shit.
His pale blonde hair, ghostly white skin, and rosy spots on his cheeks made him nearly identical to Charlie. He had to be either the father or a brother that she had yet to mention.
He stared into your damn soul, unmoving. You wondered if he could see right through your disguise. Through the paint on your skin to the blood that pulsed underneath. Past your skull to the thoughts racing through your mind.
You stood stalk still in your spot, as well, staring right back at him. You felt it was the only thing you could do. It was either that or book it, but you weren’t paying attention to the turns you took to get to this point. You’d be lost in a heartbeat. Imagine how stupid you’d look then.
So you opted to harness your inner statue. You didn’t dare move a muscle in case–by some miracle–he could only detect movement. If you were lucky, he would shrug and continue strutting away.
Manifest…manifest…manifest–
“Who are you?” He demanded in a deadpan voice as he jabbed his cane in your direction.
Shittt.
“I’m–uh…” Your eyes darted to the side before landing back on him. “Who are you?”
Meeting the parents was never your forte.
“I beg your pardon?”
“Dad!”
Thank fucking god.
His eyes lit up and a massive sharp-toothed smile spread across his face, completely forgetting about you the instant Charlie entered the hallway.
“Charlie!” he practically screamed, arms spreading wide into the air. You had to duck out of the way as he threw himself onto his daughter. One would think he was attempting to squeeze the life out of her with how tightly he was holding on.
She looked miserable.
You did your best to hide your smile at the exchange. You could remember all the times you were embarrassed by overly affectionate loved ones shamelessly kissing and cooing at you in front of your peers. You were sure that at least half the time it was done so with malicious intent.
On the flip side, it was always quite enjoyable to witness it happening to others.
“I know, Dad. It’s good to see you, too…” She was patting his back, an attempt to signal she was ready to be let go.
“Why didn’t you tell me you would be visiting? We could have planned something fun to do ahead of time–”
“It was a spur-of-the-moment thing! We weren’t originally planning on dropping by, but I remembered there was something I wanted to grab, so…” she lied.
You were unaware she hadn’t given her dad any sort of heads up at all. You felt bad that you were sneaking in without his knowing. Especially since he seemed so overjoyed just to get to see her.
“Speaking of,” she redirected, stepping aside and turning to you. “This is one of my friends–”
“Ah, it is so nice to meet you!” he eagerly cut in.
You were only going to exchange a small wave, but he practically jumped on you, grabbing your hand and shaking it with exuberance.
“My goodness, Charlie never brings her friends over. This–this is so exciting!”
He was so close that it gave you goosebumps. He looked less human than Charlie, but not quite animalistic like the other demons you’d seen. His red pupils were much smaller than hers, bordering on snake-like slits, and all of his teeth were akin to daggers. She must have gotten her more human qualities from her mother.
You did your very best to smile as genuinely as you could.
“It’s nice to meet you, too–uh–Sir.”
He drew back, finally giving you space. Then his eyes lowered to your mouth.
You quickly sealed your lips.
Was he looking at your teeth? They wouldn’t give you away, would they? Charlie and Vaggie had mostly dull teeth aside from their abnormally sharp canines. If he asked, you could tell him you wanted to see how far you could file them down…
Worrying about your appearance made you uncomfortably aware of the paint coating your skin. It felt so thick all of a sudden. So sticky but also dry. And the fake horns were so heavy. God, you wanted nothing more than to rip it all off.
Your heartbeat was picking up speed.
Did his eyebrow just twitch?
His eyes narrowed slightly but that grin held fast. He briefly looked down to his hands before returning to your face, rubbing his gloved fingers together. It was as if touching you left an uncomfortable feeling behind that he was trying to get off.
“I’m glad we got to run into you, but we’re on a bit of a time crunch, so we should get going,” Charlie said, laughing nervously as she tugged on your sleeve.
“It was nice meeting you,” you repeated with a dip of your head before following her down the hall.
You could feel his eyes on you while you walked away. As you turned the corner, you glanced back to confirm you were just paranoid.
His red eyes were locked onto you. He hadn’t moved from his spot, and his smile was gone.
Relief washed over once you were out of his line of sight. There’s no way he knew you were human. He couldn’t have been able to tell from just your teeth.
But then why did he look at you so strangely?
Your anxiety began to let up more and more as you got further away. Glancing over at Charlie, you could tell she, too, was bothered. Her eyebrows were furrowed and her lips pursed. She kept silent until you finally arrived at the room you came here for in the first place.
It was filled with shelves that held a wide variety of objects. From books, to statues, to strange glowing orbs on pedestals…
If you could find what you needed quickly, none of this would matter. You wouldn’t have to worry about Charlie’s dad figuring you out. You would be back home, safe and sound.
Where it was a good thing you were human.
Where the only things you had to worry about were bills and boy troubles.
“Alrighty,” Charlie said, closing the door after you. “I’m not really sure where to start, but some of these should have labels or descriptions or something.”
That was reassuring.
You each got to work, filing through piece by piece. She wasn’t wrong about some being labeled, though their names often told you little to nothing about what they actually were or what they could do.
As you went to flip through an old book similar in appearance to Devon’s, it was engulfed in purple flames. You gasped, backing away and colliding with something behind you.
Spinning around in hopes of preventing whatever you bumped into from falling, you came face to face with Charlie’s father.
Your heart stopped.
“Might I help you find something?” The smirk adorning his lips as he leaned closer was not comforting whatsoever. You were beginning to understand Charlie’s distress. This man had no concern for personal space.
Wide-eyed, you glanced over at Charlie who looked nearly as alarmed as you to see him there. You side-stepped away so that you were no longer sandwiched between him and the shelves.
“Dad…” Charlie drawled. “Don’t you have something more important to be doing right now?”
“What could possibly be more important than my favorite daughter? It’s been so long since I’ve last seen you!” he said, facing her.
“I’m your only daughter,” Charlie groaned.
“Uh-huh, which is why I want to spend as much time with you as I can~” he sang as threw an arm around her shoulder. “Say, have I gotten to show you my newest ducks yet?”
“No…look we’re really busy right now.”
“Right, right. Looking for something that you need,” he said, waving his hand in the air as he recalled her previous words. “In this room of all places?”
That made Charlie stiffen.
“Ah, well–uh…”
“She was just showing me around while we were passing,” you spoke up. You were so thankful that your smile didn’t falter when his half-lidded eyes turned to you once more. “It would have been a shame to have missed out on so many amazing relics.”
“I’m sure,” he hummed. “If you’re curious about any in particular, I can tell you all about them.”
He relinquished Charlie to step up to you again.
“Were you a historian when you were alive?” He asked, tilting his head.
“Ah…No…” you said, looking off to the side. There was a moment of silence before you realized he was probably expecting you to specify your occupation. “I was a clinical technician. Items such as these would be interesting to anyone though, I’d imagine.”
“And what did you do to wind up here in Hell?”
What?
“Um, I didn’t…”
“Many would assume working in the medical field would earn you a one-way ticket straight to Heaven, so what could you have possibly done to land yourself here?” His tone turned serious, eyes narrowing.
You needed to calm yourself down. He was probably just interrogating you to ensure his daughter was keeping good company. You’d likely do the same if your child was surrounded by a bunch of sinners with some of the worst track records known to man.
What answer could you give him that was justified enough but didn’t make you sound like a psycho?
You stole a bunch of human blood and used it in a satanic seance.
He didn’t need to know that.
Premarital sex?
No, he had no business knowing about your sex life either.
“I cheated on a test once,” you answered with a guilty smile.
He gave you the most deadpan stare you’d ever seen.
“Premarital sex, too.”
“That’ll do it!” Charlie chimed in.
“That’s the whole reason Charlie and I met actually,” you said, trying to redirect the conversation.
Both gave you odd looks. That probably wasn’t the best way to follow up that statement, but oh well.
“She told me all about how I can redeem myself at the hotel she’s running! I hope to one day reclaim my virginity until I find that special someone.”
You smiled sweetly in hopes that it would earn you a few more brownie points. Weren’t you just the most precious little sinner?
“That’s right! She only recently got here, and she’s already seeking redemption! Isn’t that fantastic?” Charlie placed herself at your side, presenting you as if you were a class project. “She hasn’t even heard about the extermination yet!”
“The what?” You turned to face her.
“Don’t worry about it,” she waved you off.
Her father had both hands propped upon his apple cane as he squinted at the two of you. You were clearly hiding something but he had yet to figure out what.
Trumpets began to blare from right beside you, causing even more strain on your frantic heart.
“Hehe, sorry, one second,” Charlie said, pulling her phone out of her pocket to check whatever notification caused that horrid noise. There was a moment of silence as she read the message before her eyes widened, and she went slack jawed. “Shit.”
Well. That didn’t sound good.
Her father looked concerned about her reaction, as well, placing himself at her side with a hand on her arm as he looked up at her.
“Is everything alright, sweetie?” he asked in a soft tone.
“It’s nothing,” she shook her head, pulling away from him. “It was nice seeing you, Dad, but we really have to go now.”
She grabbed your wrist and dragged you out of the room with her, leaving her father behind without a second glance.

An Animalistic Disaster
Summery: You finally realise the truth behind these animals
Masterlist
CH-10 : New forms revealed
Tumblr media
Charlie and Vaggie both felt the weird sensation from before. Of their bodies being mashed together and remade. Once the light subsided they were shocked to feel a pair of arms and legs again. And both of them not being so small anymore. Charlie and Vaggie both looked at each other.
Charlie still had her milkish white skin with red hues on her cheeks. But they were less extreme. She now had baby blue eyes. On top of her long blond hair was a pair of horns. Her height had shrunk into normal human height as well. She had hooves instead of normal feet. She was still wearing the dress before she got turned into a sheep. But she could feel a hole behind her dress as well as a tail coming out from it.
On the other hand Vaggie's skin was much darker then Charlie's and she had long brown hair that almost looked black. She also had light brown eyes. She had two antenna's that sprouted from her hair. She did shirnk a bit but not as much as Charlie. There was a eye patch covering her lost eye.
They both looked over to their middle where you sat dumfounded. All three of you were so close you guys were practically hugging each other. You finally decided to break the silence and talk.
"W-who are you guys..?"
You were still blushing from the close proximity of them. It didn't help the fact they looked so breathtakingly gorgeous. Their faces looked really familiar to you but you just couldn't put your head around it.
Charlie took a deep breath as she decided to answer you. "I'm Charlie, Charlie Morningstar. I'm the sheep that has been staying with you all these time" Then she looked over at Vaggie. "This is Vaggie, the moth" Vaggie awkwardly smiled and waved to you.
Your jaw practically fell open from shock. Your brain finally connected the dots on why they looked so familiar. "Wait, wait...you mean like Charlie and Vaggie from Hazbin hotel?? The cartoon show?"
"Yes it seems like it. It looks like we're cartoon characters in this world " Vaggie said. "Can you explain to us why that is? It might have a way for us to go back!" She added quickly.
"Hold on now Vaggie. Let her calm down first. She still doesn't know what's going on. It must be a lot to take for her at once.." Charlie said sympatheticly looking at your still shocked expressions.
"Hold on then, if you guys are the ewe and the moth...does that mean.." you looked over to the animals that came to your room. "That deer is definitely Alastor without a doubt" Alastor nodded his head. " The cat and the snake is Husk and Pentious.." they nodded in affirmation. " Spider is Angel..the puppy...the puppy must be Niffty since she cleans so lot!" Niffty barked happily. "And lastly this squirrel should be Cheeri based on the recent nut event"
"You got them all correct! You're really smart!" Charlie said happily. "Please don't get mad or kick us out. We may be demons but we won't harm you!" Charlie said with pleading eyes.
"Speaking of demons, why do we look like this?" Vaggie said looking at her and Charlie again. "That isn't how we looked like before" she said while touching the antenna on her head. "It must be some kind of new form of ours. Some kinda...human-animal hybrid form!" Charlie answered. "At least we can now communicate with her now"
"Okay, this is great..the animals that have been invading my home for like the past week are the characters of my favourite cartoon show...wow I'm really going crazy now aren't I?" You asked looking around the room and laughing a bit. "I'm probably dreaming right? I'll wake up soon and you guys will be gone"
"It's not a dream (y/n), I can promise you that. All the days we spent together are real" Vaggie said softly before putting her hand on your shoulder.
"Fuck it, I don't care if you guys are real or not" you said finally accepting your situation with a newfound ecstatic expression "I have a lot of things I want to say to you guys" You looked at Charlie first.
"Charlie my sweet adorable demon belle, you're baby and I'll protect you at all costs" you said looking at Charlie with pure adoration, making Charlie blush and look away. "Vaggie and Cherri, you're both a bad bitch and I respect you! Keep girlbossing always"  Vaggie and Cherri both gave you a big smile.
"As for Angel.." you said looking at the spider " I love you and I'm sorry for everything you've gone through. I wish to hug you if I could. I swear if I find Valentino in front of me someday I'll fucking strangle him with my own hands" you said the last part with venom in your voice.
Angel didn't know what to say. It was to be expected that you knew a lot about them. He thought you'll say some simping shit for him as he saw before. He didn't like to admit it but hearing your pure kind words warmed a part in his heart.
"Husk, my favourite grumpy kitty cat. Man, I vibe you most of the time. I want to get a drink made by you someday and get drunk with you" Husk mewoed back.
"Husk said if he becomes 'humans' like us, he'll grant your wish" Charlie translated it for you making you smile.
"Pentious, you're the literal definition of boy failure and I love you. I can't wait to see more of your chaotic self in future" you said cooing at him. 'What'ss a boy failure? ' He was confused but happy with your compliment.
"Now for Alastor...." You said looking at the deer. Alastor smirked as he readied himself for your showers of praises and swooning.
"You're a stinky ass deer"
Cue the record screech.
"You tormented me a lot these past days! Now It finally all makes sense!"
Angel was dying laughing in the background as Alastor's eye twitched in anger.
"But even with all of these, I love your charisma and your unique personality in the show. I love your dark sense of humour and your radio voice. I'm quite captivated by it" you said smiling a little.
Alastor's grin came back. Of course you loved him, he knew that already from before. But that doesn't mean he wasn't offended by the first part.
"Thank you for your kind words (y/n), you don't know how much it means to us" Charlie said smiling widely.
"I hate to break this sweet moment..but (y/n), could you please tell us more about our show...? The 'Hazbin Hotel'? " Vaggie chimed in. All of them turned to look at you. You inhaled a deep breath in. How do you exactly explain to someone they come from a show?
"Hazbin hotel is an adult cartoon animation from its creator Vivienne. That's where you guys are from" you said awkwardly scratching your neck.
"So..is she the one who made us..?" Vaggie asked.
"Yes, you, your backstory, the world, everything. There's only one episode out for now but season 1 is dropping very soon" you paused, letting them take the information in.
"Have I been just a part of someone's imagination this whole time..?" Vaggie asked looking at her hands. "All the things, all the pains I felt...were they not real?" Charlie looked sadly at Vaggie and pulled her closer for a hug. Almost everyone in the room felt the same as Vaggie.
You sort of expected this existential crisis to happen. "No, it's very much real, I promise you" you said as you put your hand over Vaggie's and gave her a comforting smile.
"If it wasn't real, you guys wouldn't be here. You guys being here is the proof that it's as real as it can get"
"Hell, all of these makes me feel like I'm not real either! I feel like some kind of weird cliché protagonist of some stupid wattpad or ao3 fanfics that I read. But that's not true right?" You turned to look at everyone.
"I'm right here, I'm real and you guys are too. It goes for all your feelings and experiences as well"
"(Y/n) thank you..." Charlie said now holding your hand while sniffing a little. "You don't know how much it means to hear that" she said teary eyed.
"It's my pleasure, I should also show you the things that are released. You guys would understand more if you saw those" you said while moving up to get your laptop from the table "Also how did you guys end up here?"
"It's a long story...." Charlie started. "I'll say it this time Hun, rest for now" Vaggie said cutting her off, she knew Charlie still felt guilty for this mess. So she decided to tell it instead. She started telling you as you opened up the pilot episode on YouTube .
"Damn, I understand now. But how did you guys turn human again? Well mostly human?" You asked.
"We don't know either! Me and Vaggie were just,uh,having a totally normal conversation and then we suddenly turned into this!" Charlie said while blushing. She didn't dare reveal what they were talking about.
"Uh-huh....riggght...also here's the pilot episode!" You said finally starting to play it.
Charlie and Vaggie sat next to you on both sides, making you blush a little. Niffty sat on your lap while Angel, Husk and Cherri sat in front of you guys since they were small. And Alastor stood while resting his head on top of yours.
Firstly came Charlie's singing about heaven and crying, which she was a bit embarrassed about.
'let me know when you come back with something creative to call me you sack of poorly packaged horse shit!'
'Heh! That line still rocks' Angel said while laughing alongside Cherri.
Meanwhile Vaggie and Alastor was more keen on noticing every single detail they could find from it. Then the scene switched to Pentious.
'Look everyone, That'sss mee!! I look so sstylish in here!'
'And there's me rocking your shit old man! Hahaha!'
It was then time for the interview of Charlie. Charlie covered her face with her hands beside you, already knowing how that would turn out while you patted her back.
'oh, harder daddy~'
'son?'
This part never failed to make you laugh. Even Husk laughed at this part seeing Angel's confused face.
'Jokes are funny, I made you look sad.. like an orphan! With no arms or legs..with progeria!'
'Hah! Now that was a nice description!' Alastor said before laughing. Making Husk look at him with 'wtf is wrong with you face'
'hel-'
'-lo'
'Hey Vaggie?'
'what?'
'The radio demon...is at the door'
Now this was Alastor's turn. "Ohh, there's my creepy boy" you squealed holding Niffty. Alastor raised an eye brow at being called your 'creepy boy' but decided to just keep watching.
'Oh Vaggie, I didn't know you thought so highly of me! Why I'm flattered!' Alastor said with a shit eating grin as Vaggie was explaining Alastor's past to Angel in the show. "Shut it you pompous bastard" Vaggie grumbled beside you. You couldn't hear what Alastor said but you assumed it was one of his snarky remarks.
'And what can you do my effeminate fellow?'
'I can suck your dick'
'Hah! No!'
You practically mimiced the voices as it was being said. You heard this joke various times already. Charlie laughed looking at your expressions while mimicking. You looked quite adorable, she thought fondly.
Finally Husk and Niffty got brought in. 'Ooh!!look!!look!! It's me! I'm cleaning hehehe...' Niffty said barking from your lap. And Husk sighed remembering how he lost the winning game cause of him.
'You thought it would be some kinda big fucking ride just to pull me outta nowhere? You think I'm some kinda fucking clown??'
'maybe!'
You couldn't hide your giggle at that. "I'm really sorry Husk but it was just funny" you said while giving him a headpat. Husk just let you pet him this time while grumbling about how shitty alastor is.
"Also everyone, notice how husk is the only one without any pants in this episode" you said while giggling.
This caused Husk's eyes to widen as he looked back at his cartoon character carefully. He indeed wasn't wearing any pants. 'Ohh,husky~ I didn't know you were into stuffs like this~' Angel cooed at Husk while teasing him. Alastor's eye brows furrowed at such indecency.
"How come we never noticed this unusuality back then?" Vaggie asked looking at you. "How did we just think Husk not wearing pants was normal?"
You shrugged. "Don't ask me, I don't have a clue either " you said resuming the episode.
Alastor's song began to play, 'Inside of every demon is a lot cause'. In middle of it you looked at Alastor "I'm never going to forget the fact that you slapped Vaggie's ass canonically"
"He did what??" Charlie glared. "Slapped Vaggie's ass, look here" you went back to that time again and showed it. 'Damn smiles I never knew you had it in ya!' Angel said laughing while Vaggie groaned.
'I only did that to mess with miss Vaggie. I assure you I had no other intentions' Alastor said to a very angry looking Charlie. "You shouldn't have done it in the first place! " Charlie pouted while crossing her arms.
Finally the ending came with Sir Pentious getting extremely overpowered by Alastor.
'My egg boysss...I miss them..'
"So this was Hazbin Hotel! Next up we have 'Addict', a music video featuring Angel Dust and Cherri" you said looking at the pair.
"But I want to ask if you're ready first Angel..." You asked softly, knowing what was about to be shown.
Angel's breath hitched in his throat. Cherri gave him a sympathetic look. Angel didn't know how to feel about this.
'I....'

resist much, obey little (ch 1)
Alastor had a noose around his neck.
There was only one person who could loosen it.
--------
Temptation had never strung Lucifer along. He was an angel of Heaven no matter what anyone else said, and he had never fallen whim to any of the sins that humans were so eager to do.
And Alastor, a demon and a sinner who had fallen even further after death, was the most forbidden fruit of all.
He was the very embodiment of blasphemy.
But by God, did Lucifer want him.
--------
Knock-knock.
Lucifer let out a weak groan as he slowly let his arm slide off his eyes and off the side of the couch. Red starlight drifted through the torn curtains of a nearby window and nearly blinded him even with his eyes closed, and he had to squint and blink half a dozen times before he raised a hand and scrubbed at his face.
Knock-knock.
“Give me a second,” he called to the idiot who kept banging on his door.
He felt like, well. He felt like someone had take a grinder, stuffed him inside, made him into a sausage, and then shoved said sausage into all their orifices.
He hadn't felt this tired, this pained, in a very long time, and he liked to think he had a high pain tolerance. Nothing had hurt him quite as much as the Fall, or when Lilith left, or when he had to acknowledge his subjects, but he still couldn't quite shake the bone-aching exhaustion as there was a small rustle beside him along with a coo.
Knock-knock-knock.
“I said in a minute!” Lucifer barked again, the infuriating sound pacified at least for now as his tone shifted into something far more gentle while he curled around the small bundle of warmth that he had fallen asleep with. “My little princess, did you sleep well?”
Charlotte Morningstar was the apple of his eye and she was all the more beautiful because of it. She was tucked carefully in between the solid back of the couch and his own body. There was no one in Hell or even the Heavens that would try to defy him and dare to harm her, but it quelled at least some of the constant anxiety in him to know she was near him.
She waved her chubby fists in the air, her eyes already crinkled at the edges with her delighted smile, and he couldn't help it as he gathered her even closer and buried his nose into her soft, beautiful hair and inhale the smell of baby powder.
“Well, starshine, I guess it's time to see who wants to bother our peace so early in the morning,” Lucifer sighed.
Honestly, what kind of fool knocked on anyone's door this early, much less the devil's himself? He dreamed of strangling the idiot who was standing outside his house; maybe it was a stupid imp who wandered somewhere they shouldn't have, or Asmodeus coming to whine to him again, or even worse, Lili -
KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK.
“How dare you disturb your king's slumber?” Lucifer roared, now fully enraged as he ripped open the door so forcefully that it was torn off the hinges completely.
Bits of wood and debris rained around him as his tail lashed in anger, his horns spontaneously grown out of the crown of his head, and he was only a second away from turning this worthless demon into a husk, only for a piece of paper to suddenly be shoved into his face.
“What the - “ Lucifer said, and he squinted to read the blurry text, a result of staying up far too many nights in a row and refusing to do anything about it.
Hey, Idiot!
Want a job no other can fulfill? Do you want some light shed in your otherwise pitifully empty life?
Are you capable of destroying the very atoms who dare to disturb my own?
Then this is the job for you!

Lucifer had to read it once, twice, before he managed to dig up some fuzzy memory from about at least four months ago.
He remembered it in pieces; how exhausted he was as he tried to cope with the loss of his wife and the sudden gain of a child; his madness as he tried his best to coax Charlie into sleep, even as she refused and wailed; his internal grief as he tried to understand what to do or how to do it.
He had summoned a succubus and demanded that they put up all of his haphazardly made fliers all around hell. In complete honesty, he had forgotten all about it as soon as the papers disappeared from his desk, as Charlie had proceeded to vomit over his button-up and was wailing again. She'd developed a fever and the night had dissolved into a frenzy to better her as quickly as possible.
He hadn't expected anyone to read the flier, much less even give it a second thought, and his horns and tail slowly disappeared as he pushed aside the paper and glared at the demon who dared to show up right at his doorstep.
The demon was a sinner. He had a soul unlike the hellborne, and seemed to enjoy it, too. He grinned too widely and seemed way too into the dress-red-for-Hell theme, and when he spoke, his voice crackled with the poor frequency of an old timey radio as he said, “well hello to you, my liege! I suppose I might have troubled you this morning, but I’m here about your curious job offer!”
“Why are you here at all?” Lucifer snapped, balancing Charlie on his hip and bouncing her when she began to fuss. She drooled on the lapel of his jacket, but as long as she wasn't crying, that was fine by him, so he allowed her to continue as he snarled, “the flier says to call me at the number on the bottom! Are you as blind as you are disobedient?”
The demon's grin widened just by a fraction of an inch, and he bent down into a deep, sarcastic bow. “My apologies, Your Majesty. That was not an oversight on my part; I just don't have a fondness for those… things.”
“Things?”
“Cellphones,” the demon said slowly, like the word was clunky and ill-fitting in his mouth. He rubbed his chin with clawed fingers in thought and said, “I'm rather old fashioned, you could say, and those little devices with their tiny buttons are beyond my time.”
“Huh,” Lucifer grunted, less than a little interested in whatever the demon was saying. He had most of his attention on Charlie, who was now gnawing on his finger with her gums, and he said, “yeah, whatever you say, grandpa. If you want an interview then come in. But touch anything and I'll kill you.”
“I wouldn't dream of it, sire!” The demon trilled happily as he stepped over the threshold and, bizarrely enough, summoned a microphone staff and used it like a cane.
This demon was an unusual one, even among Lucifer's bunch of vile and annoying little shits he called his subjects, and he wondered if he made a mistake letting him in as he pointed at the now broken pieces of the door and said, “that's your first question. If you really aren't illiterate and you read that flier, then you know I don't want some useless little wimp. Show me how powerful you are and then I'll - “
Magic swelled in the air like a sudden puff of air, and Lucifer blinked as the door was suddenly fixed and placed back on its hinges. Why, the smug asshole even decorated the damn thing with little carvings of microphones all around the edges.
“You didn't let me finish,” Lucifer snarled.
“No need to, Your Majesty,” the demon said, looking rather pleased with his handiwork as he observed the wood. “What kind of assistant would I be if I couldn't at least predict your basic wants or needs?”
Lucifer stared, tilting his head slightly.
The demon didn’t say the words in contempt. In fact, he seemed excited about it, which further solidified the idea that he was a weirdo.
Lucifer was the leader of the Pride Ring, after all, so he was excellent at evoking hilarious reactions by poking at people's sensitive prides, but this demon didn't seem at all offended over the demeaning job of being an assistant.
And to think a powerful demon like this existed at all… his magic from just now was similarly no joke. It was the kind of stuff that tingled across Lucifer's skin and nearly down his back and to his wings, which rustled restlessly when he thought too hard about it.
He always had them tucked away for several reasons, but to think a sinner had the ability to create enough power to have him move even a single feather was… impressive.
It was impressive and he was annoyed about it, which probably showed on his face as he clicked his tongue and said, “show off. Fine. Charlie has to have breakfast now, so come on.”
Lucifer ignored the way the demon's smile crinkled at the edges as he turned on his heel and marched to the kitchen.
It pinched the edge of his mind to see just how destroyed the place was. Various toys, baby contraptions, clothes, and uneaten food littered the place.
It also smelled vaguely like baby powder and oil, and Lucifer himself probably looked like an actual disaster with how his hair was unkempt and he hadn't changed his clothes in three days, but he was too tired to care as he stepped over a mountain of stuffed animals.
The kitchen was no less of a messy tornado than the living room, but at least the high-top was clean.
Lucifer cooed to his daughter as she kicked her legs and squealed in delight when he lifted her into the air and kissed her bare belly, distracting her from destroying yet another piece of furniture.
“She doesn't like sitting,” Lucifer sing-songed, keeping his voice as high-pitched and sweet as possible while slowly starting to lower her into the cushion of the chair. “But as long as you keep her distracted, she can do it with minimum fuss! Right, Charlie? Right, starshine? My wonderful wittie bittie girl, look how good you are!”
Lucifer let out a huge, admittedly rather relieved sigh when she let her chubby legs stick through the opening of the high-too while she bashed her tiny fists onto the table. She only made small, little displeased noises when he tied a bib around her neck and she blew a raspberry, but that was it.
This was turning out to be a great morning, then.
“Go on,” Lucifer said, turning around and crossing his arms as he tried to look as intimidating as possible. It was then that he realized the demon was at least a foot taller than him; the audacity! “Feed her. That's your second question; if you really want this job, you should know how to take care of a baby.”
“Hmm,” the demon hummed. He didn't seem at all perturbed by the hostility nor the near harassment of demands, and he merely waltzed over to the fridge, opening it and bending at the waist to observe what was inside.
After only a moment of looking, he reached in and grabbed several apples, all bright red and crisp. He took care to avoid any of the ones with spots on them, Lucifer realized, and the demon whistled a cheery tune as he juggled four apples easily and then threw them all up at once.
He snapped his fingers and a blender popped into existence, taking the fruits with ease and floating in the air as it blended them into a sauce.
“There,” he said, smug and satisfied as the blender poured out several mini jars of perfectly liquified apples. “Nutritious and well-processed to avoid any chunks.”
“Anyone can blend apples, smarta - smarty-pants,” Lucifer snapped. “I mean feed her. I don't give a shi - crud if you’re powerful and if you've read every single parenting book in the realm. If she doesn't like you, I’ll crush you here and now.”
That was the barest truth of all of this. Lucifer was the most powerful of them all, could destroy any single one of them into dust if he truly wanted, so what did it matter if this single demon was slightly stronger than average?
All demons had the potential to grow just as much as he had, but Lucifer didn’t give a flying rat's ass about that. It simply boiled down to if Charlie liked them.
He refused to have someone be her caretaker if she hated them. She needed love, warmth, compassion - all the things no regular demon could give. She deserved those things, and Lucifer had already given his whole heart to her, but he knew it wasn't enough.
For the first time since he got there, the demon hesitated. His smile waned only by a centimeter, but it was noticeable enough, and he eyed Charlie apprehensively.
After another second of contemplation, he approached her slowly, and Lucifer watched from only a few feet away, his wings threatening to burst out of his back from how tense he was.
He didn't know this demon, couldn't trust him as far as he could throw him, and if there was even the slightest chance that he would hurt Charlie, Lucifer had to intervene and make him eat his own intestines.
Luckily, the demon didn't do such a thing.
He set aside his microphone, leaning it against the counter, and he bent slightly so that he was eye-level with the baby.
Charlie gurgled, a noise of curiosity more than apprehension or fear, and she drooled a little as she stared at him and blinked in question when he curled a finger and a jar of applesauce floated towards him.
“Your Highness, although I know it must be very early in the morning for you, it's imperative to a young demon's health to eat well in order to grow and ascend to their rightful place,” the demon said. “In your case, it's your throne. It would be a tremendous help if you didn't make a fuss.”
Lucifer watched in bewilderment.
This man talked to his Charlie like she could understand a word that he just said. On good days, she could comprehend basic commands of no or stop , but that was the absolute limit.
She didn't even know what her hands were, or had any sort of object permanence! How could this stupid demon expect her to understand any of that?
But instead of flinging applesauce into his face like Lucifer expected, Charlie merely popped her lips, grumbled for a few seconds, and then opened her mouth obediently.
Lucifer's jaw dropped as the demon laughed from his throat.
“Well done, Princess,” the demon said, his eyes crescent-shaped from how pleased he was. He even spoon-fed her with his hand, not his magic, and he continued to speak like she was a grown woman instead of a baby who dribbled most of the applesauce down her chin and to her bib. “You are exceeding my expectations already. I have no doubt you will continue to do so.”
He hummed as she continued to eat, slowly making her way through the jar of fruit. Anytime some of the sauce spilled out of the corner of her lips, he patiently wiped it away with a summoned handkerchief, and he even allowed her to grip onto one of his fingers as he fed her.
Charlie loved grabbing things. It was her way of seeking comfort or validation when she was doing something new, and she had never eaten apples before this. She always loved to tug on Lucifer's hair or his clothes with an iron grip, but she seemed completely at ease as she licked at the spoon and smiled gummily at the demon when he tutted.
“Your Highness, etiquette is important to proper young ladies like yourself,” he said, but his voice was gentle and not admonishing as he rubbed at her cheek again with his napkin. She beamed at the touch and giggled. “Yes, yes. You are forgiven. Now, let's make sure you don't regret your breakfast, shall we?”
Before Lucifer even had a chance to say anything, the demon scooped Charlie up and out of her chair. Her legs kicked like she always did whenever she realized she was about to be carried, and she snuggled against his shoulder as he properly secured her to his chest and began patting her back.
He was burping her.
He had managed to feed her, soothe her, indulge her habit of grabbing things, and he was now burping her.
Lucifer felt like a puppet whose strings were just cut as he sagged suddenly against the counter and had to grip it tightly to make sure he didn't crumble to the ground.
For the first time ever since Charlie's birth, he had a moment of freedom, a moment to breathe, and he inhaled deeply as he ran a hand through his disheveled hair and hysterically thought to himself that he now had a chance to shower.
“Demon,” he commanded as best as he could, but it really sounded like he was on the brink of toppling over as he continued to watch the pair.
“Hmm?” The demon replied, never stopping as he continued to pat Charlie's back while walking in a circle, bouncing slightly with each step so she wouldn't grow bored.
“Your name,” Lucifer said.
The demon grinned at him. It was a disturbing smile, really, and Lucifer had half the mind to wipe it off his smug little face for daring to look so triumphant, but he refrained.
After all, the demon seemed to understand the hidden meaning of his question, and when he spoke, his voice crackled at the edges of his pleasure as he bowed slightly and said, “Alastor.”
“Well, Alastor,” Lucifer said, hauling himself up to his feet and trying to blink away the spots in his eyes. “I hope you know what you're getting yourself into.”
Alastor purred.
“I look forward to working with you, Your Majesty.”

Cops and Thugs Ch. 1 - A bad shift
FFN: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14242641/1/Cops-and-Thugs
AO3: Cops and Thugs
Summary: Vagatha Jiménez is a police officer that one day finds herself face to face with the daughter of the biggest mafia boss of Pentagram City, a dangerous and criminal city to the core. Vagatha will be trapped in a forced alliance if she wants to stay alive and maybe, in the process, profit from the whole situation with the help of Charlotte Morningstar.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Central to X-22. Report status. Have you located the suspected dealer? Over,” The radio of a police cop called to the driver and a woman of black complexion and hair.
“Central, here X-22. We are following a tip from our informant, we’ll keep looking, over.” Vagatha lied. In front of her police car she could see her police mate Angel collecting the share for drgus from a local dealer.
Vagatha found herself parked in an abandoned alley where she knew no one would bump them by mere accident. She made sure a third time in the day her police uniforme remained neat and took a particular focus on her plaque hanging on the left side of her torso.
She pulled out a grey with red smartphone from her pocket and opened a chat she had with her girlfriend, Charlie. The history chat displayed a list of compliments, flirts, cheering up phrases, lots of emojis hearts, dogs and rainbows and a myriad of colors from the sender, whereasg Vagatha tried to play along as best as she could.
In that instance she limited herself to send an emoji of a bird, a cloud and a green check.
Vagatha allowed herself to relax after sending that message and let her view get lost at nothing at all, until her eyes fell in the rear-view mirror between the driver and copilot seats. She saw herself and the criminal situation she carried on. Though it wasn’t the most correct per se, she had convinced herself it was the best on the long run.
To that day, she still had doubts about how she had ended up in a relationship with the daughter of the capo of the biggest mafia in the city.
Vagatha remembered It all had started when she caught in a dealer with pounds of cocaine in his car. She had turned him in, but in a matter of days he had been set free and Vagatha sought an explanation.
FIVE WEEKS BEFORE.
“Come in.” Her sergeant said when she knocked his door.
“Sir, I wanted to ask about the dealer that I…we turned in. Bastard’s got plenty of packages on his car. Why had he been set free?”
“Bail.”
“Say what again?”
“Someone paid his bail, didn’t you hear?”
Vagatha blinked a few times confused. “Sir, it had come to my understanding he had been denied his right to pay for a bail.
“What you want me to do? Junkie’s got persuasive friends. Get the fuck out of my office, Jiménez and do something of use for once.”
The woman cop could distinguish a couple bottles of alcohol in his shelfs.
Vagatha didn’t find funny at all when the same guy was arrested two weeks later as he tried to sell small packages of cocaine hidden beneath his shirt.
Vagatha had been assigned with the task to patrol the streets in search of other dealers like the one she arrested to find clues in the product’s origin. But observing from afar had never been her strongest suit. So instead she walked through the city streets trying to lure the least attention to herself possible. As much as she could with her police uniform on.
It had been several hours already and the most excitement she had found in her day was the verbal fight she had with a driver who had overstayed at the parking meter and she gave her a fine. She almost wished the situation had escalated to put his ass in the ground and put him inside her car. Anything to make her day any less blant.
It seemed the angel  hear her prays Meanwhile Vagatha rested her stare, she found a tall women with a brown smoking that was surely equivalent to one month on Vagatha’s salary. She had been hawking at her and her blonde hair fluttering against the wind for more time she was willing to admit. Her mind had gone blank.
And it would had have stayed that way, but Vagatha managed to catch how that woman received a yellow package from a hooded man from head to toes with a large grey hat, hidden in the insides of an abandoned buildings before he disappeared. Vagatha immediately recognized what kind of envelop that was. Some senior cops had confiscated a similar package from a small group of criminals of the Morningstar mafia.
All happened in less than a second and the woman continued walking with package at hand without saying a word and they walked separated paths.
She opted for following that woman and discover what the hell was her deal. She couldn’t follow her from her police patrol or she would call too much undesired attention, so, with pistol at her holster, Vagatha opted herself to carry on her feet as fast and discreet as possible.
Despite her efforts to follow that woman and discover what was her damn deal, there was always that impeded her to reach her. Bumps with people, trips, traffic.
After following her for several streets Vagatha managed to peek how the woman entered a dog shelter she knew well. More than once she and other cops had received don’t for robberies or even discussions that had escalated into violent brawls.
Whenever she was nearby and her job allowed it, Vagatha passed by and checked out everything were in order and nobody wanted to screw over Sr. Pentious, the shelter’s owner.
Vagatha’s alarms kept tuned when she saw the woman coming out of the shelter just as quick as she entered. Her mind went to the worst-case scenario at once. Right after the woman had walked away far enough, Vagatha entered the shelter kicking the door open with her pistol at hand ready for the worst. A couple of puppies sleeping nearby the door ran away scared in different directions with clear cries of fear. To her not-so big surprise, quick and loud steps as thunder strikes alerted her of the first person to receive her, a man in his thirties with black hair falling down to his back with a blue dark jacket and an old and dirty yellow shirt beneath. He charged into the reception with a shotgun in his hands.
“Get away from my babies or I will blow your fucking blow your h-! Pentious stopped right where he was upon seeing the cop at his reception. “Oh, is just you, Ms. Vagatha. What may I do for you in this fine evening?” All the hate and panic in his voice had vanished in a matter of seconds but he Pentious still held his shotgun at Vagatha.
“First, put that thing away.” The woman showed herself undeterred to Sr. Pentious and his shotgun. Right where he couldn’t see, Vagatha’s hand trembled tense and still behind her back just in case she needed to use it. Just. In. Case.
“Oh, my most sincere apologies, Ms. Vagatha. Mi paternal instinct warned me of the terror invading my little creatures and I abided my duty as father.” Pentious finally put down his gun and went to a back room to store it back.
“I need to ask you about the woman that just entered. The one with an classy suit and long blonde hair. Why she came here? I need information, and I need it fast.”
Pentious stretched the neck of his yellow shirt. “Is not I don’t’ want to help you-“
“Then you will tell me what I want to know.”
-But you know better than anyone that kind of information is expensive…more than one can imagine. Today is it you who comes through my door seeking answer, but tomorrow, good god, I don’t want to imagine.”
“If you tell me what you know I will pretend I didn’t see the shotgun you just aimed at my face, for which I’m sure you don’t have a license to hold and that I don’t know how you got a hold of.”
Pentious cried out to the ceiling and kicked out like a kid for a few seconds before he recomposed himself. “Alright. I don’t know her name, but she comes once a month to leave…a payment.”
“A payment,” Vagatha repeated, hoping she heard wrong.
“Yes.”
“A payment…of…money.”
“Yes, of course.”
“Why would she do that?”
“How I’m supposed to know!?” Pentious threw his hands to the air and shrugged his shoulders. “She was the one who came to me. I thought someone finally became interested in my personality and heart. Do you have any idea how tedious is to be father to thirty dogs on your own alone?”
“Pentious, focus.”
“What I want to mean is, if you find a dollar in the floor, you don’t ask yourself how it got there. You just grab it and carry with your life a little less miserable.” One of Pentious’ dogs came out of the shelter’s kitchena d ran to his owner and bit his pants pulling them until the small puppie teared them with a clear ripping sound Pentious only exhaled without doing nothing to stop it. “Those were my last intact pants.”
Vagatha’s brow frowned a bit. “If I were you, I’d make sure no one is looking for that dollar. How much are we talking about here?”
“Not much actually. Just some ten…yes, ten grands a month.”
If Vagatha had been drinking water, she would have spitted out in Pentious’ face. “Ten thousand a month for a dog’s shelter?”
“If you will stay here to criticize my every life decision, my mother already does that for me!”
A gut feeling advised Vagatha there was little else of use she could get out of Pentious. She left the shelter and resumed her search for the unknown woman.
To her good luck she managed to spot her before she turned around a corner in a street and hastened to follow her.
Vagatha could let it go. She could be not so impulsive and keep an eye on Pentious’ shelter, waiting for her return or go to the police for a way to identify her.
Maybe it was out of boredom or her impulse for a merit with which stand out. None of those options sounded good enough for her.
Her mind was so busy justifying itself she didn’t have time to react to the hand that grabbed her by her neck, lifting her off the ground to immediately after stomp her against the pavement like a ragdoll. Vagatha’s body hit the hard concrete and her view became blurred for a few seconds. For a little while she could see smells and hear flavors. The hit had stunned her and deafened her. She couldn’t stand.
Vagatha couldn’t tell if she didn’t hear anything around her because of the hit, or because she didn’t realize she had walked into one of the city’s abandoned streets where barely any homeless vagabond lived, if any at all.
When she finally returned to planet earth, the first thing she saw was the blonde woman standing in front of her. If her eyes were working correctly once again, she could swear she had seen some trail of…preoccupation?
But before she could confirm anything, a figure emerged over her. Covered in a brown hoodie from head to toes and a grey fedora hat on his head. It was the same figure who had given the woman that package full of money.
Cop and hooded figure stared at each other, as much as they could with Vagatha on the floor managing to tell the man was in his forties, face filled with some wrinkles in his goatee beard. His expression one of few friends and one filled with the full desire to kill someone: Her, most likely.
Over time, sound came back to Vagatha and could catch some of the discussion between woman and man.
“You went too harsh on her!” The woman shouted at him, wanting to help the cop, but she didn’t know if she should or how to even do it.
“So?” You told me to take care of her.” The man answered back as simply as the woman did exalted.
“Not to almost kill her! She’s not a-a-a-a junkie or…a stoner or something worse!”
“She followed you like one.”
“That’s not the point! The point is…” The woman sighed and inclined her back to Vagatha. “Er…Hi, are you okay? I’m sorry Husk was so hard on you,” The woman pointed at the hooded man with a wave of her hand. “He was doing his job…and I think you were just doing yours too…anyways! Name’s Charlotte. Yours is…? “Charlotte realized the floor maybe was not the best of places to carry a conversation on, she asked Husk with an eyes signal to help her stand up.
Husk complied, lifting her with the same effortless move with which he tackled her down with and put her back against a wall and kept his hand at her shoulder firmly.
“Again, I’m really sorry, I-we had to be sure you wouldn’t cause us any trouble, er, Officer.” Charlotte cleaned some of the dust in Vagatha’s uniform.
Only then Vagatha had returned to herself fully and had only grasped fragments of her encounter and the situation she found herself in. Her brown hair had turned into a mess and now covered one of her eyes. The one uncovered eye became filled with a fierceness Husk identified in an instant. The will to fight with whoever on had in front of them no matter how injured one could get.
For two whole seconds those were Vagatha’s intentions until Husk turned her around and stomped her face against the wall and grabbed one of her arms against her back. Such defenseless position only exuberated Vagatha’s rage, but Husk didn’t let her move one inch.
“Husk, please,” Chalotte said, almost begging. Husk eased up his clutch on her but still held Vagatha against the wall. A little more relaxed and having an easier time to breath, Charlotte said: “I don’t want to cause you any harm Officer, I hope just you understand it…worried us, that you were following me, and…we had to be cautious. Nothing more.”
“I’ll give you a reason to be! Who do you think you are and why you have that package full of money!?” Vagatha spoke for the first time, only being able to see Charlotte in the corner of her eye.
Upon hearing such question, Charlotte played with her long hair as she laughed, unable to look at Vagatha. “Unfortunately, I don’t think I can answer that? If my father finds out, I don’t want to imagine what would happen…especially with you. He will maybe send you to sleep with the fishes.” She thought out loud that last part, only realizing the such words escaped from her lips and her eyes opened up wide in terror. “¡Is not like he will do that!” She raised up her hands in front of her. “I hope not,” She whispered to herself. “Well, he won’t as long as he doesn’t find out I found out you found me out. So we can…simplyyyyy…” Charlotte begged with her eyes to Husk to step in with a solution as she tried to give her most confident smile lacking of nervousness.
“Kill her.”
"Let me go."
"No!" Charlotte squealed before she covered her mouth with her hands, as if someone was going to hear them, despite the fact that she knew there was no one around them.
She couldn't help but fall silent as a sign of her recurrent stress in the situation, or any situation considering her…line of work.
Charlotte couldn't let her go. If she did, she would run the risk of having these police come back from her, only to trap her and use her as a weak point in her father's criminal world. And she would not return alone.
Her, the entire police force, every crime boss she could name, and God only knows how many more.
Blood. It would end in blood. Blood on her hands.
And if Charlotte killed her, she would end up with her blood on her hands.
Did she always have to end in blood?
Was there no other way?
Those same questions ran through Vagatha's mind out of survival instincts and impulsive temperament.
"We must hurry or Don Morningstar will be upset if you are late." Husk broke the silence.
Vagatha found herself strange at such a statement and at the mention of a mob lord, only beginning to understand that she had walked down the wrong shit hole, or she thought so, that she was beginning to understand.
"Who the hell are you even to have anything with Don Morningstar?" Vagatha asked as she tried to keep her face away from the grime of the brick wall she was stuck to.
Charlie forced a smile as she inhaled and sighed, then rubbed her neck. “I'm sure he'll understand if we explain the…situation. Nothing to worry about."
"So I kill her already?" Husk pulled Vagatha away from the wall and drew a knife from her trench coat, placing the tip of her blade into her neck as he now held her stomach. The police instinctively tried to get as far away from the knife as possible without much success.
"No! Wait! Why did you give money to the owner of the animal shelter!? Where did you get the money!? What other illegal businesses do you have!?” By now, Vagatha was asking more out of desperation of never knowing the truth if she died than out of a true sense of justice or duty.
Husk snarled at her questions and pressed the blade harder into her skin. The two connected eyes with each other with intense desires to kill the other. Vagatha gritted her teeth, preparing herself if she had to throw punches and for the worst when-
"Why would not?" A voice interrupted her silent desire for blood. Charlie's voice.
Cop and thug looked at her confused. Her expressions filled with an expression of: "What do you mean?"
“Why wouldn't I give money to a dog shelter when I can? It's the least I can do, after all he's done. Besides, if I don't do it, who will? Charlie was unable to look at Husk and Vagatha and only looked to the sides.
“What the f-Who is “he?” Who are you?" Vagatha was getting fed up with this situation, and not just from his knife against her throat.
"The truth is that I hate pulling this card but, I was referring to Lucifer Morningstar." Charlie pressed her lips together as she rocked her head slightly from side to side, as if she was choosing her next words carefully. "He's…well…he's my dad." Charlie tried to make it sound like the most natural thing in the world.
Vagatha blinked uncertainly, unsure that she heard Charlie correctly, unsure if she should believe him in the first place. There was very little they knew about Lucifer Morningstar for sure, so Vagatha could only assume that if someone made such bold statements, they either had a death wish or were telling the truth.
Somehow Vagatha believed both options applied to Charlotte.
Cold sweat broke out on her brown skin. She almost wanted to want to laugh. Almost.
Morningstar? A daughter!? She had only been a cop for a few months and she already knew shit that only criminal bosses should know! This was like knowing the biggest secret of her worst enemy. The kind of secret that could get her killed by for knowing! Except this was ACTUALLY the biggest secret of her worst enemy, for fuck’s sake!
And now if Vagatha managed to get out of this disaster alive with the intention of telling of her discovery, Charlotte's two options would apply to her as well.
She was probably seconds away from death and yet the same insignificant question filled her future empty head: "What does Pentious have to do with all this?"
"I beg your pardon?"
“Pentious. Why him of all people? Do you use his shelter as a money laundering business?"
Husk growled once more at her intrusive questions, but Vagatha didn't care as she believed she was seconds away from dying.
"Oh no! No no no! On the contrary! He was the one who told me that he wanted to open a dog shelter."
Vagatha's lie detector skyrocketed to the sky, but she at the same time she could see the conviction with which Charlotte backed her words. But then Husk interrupted them.
"If we don't come back soon the boss will shit on us."
"I'm sure if I-we... explain the situation to him, he won't."
"He'll shit on me."
Charlie swallowed heavily. “We can't leave her here. That just leaves me with the option of bringing her with us to see what we do with her. And definitely not…kill her.” Charlie whispered that last part to herself.
"The boss won't like you dealing with a cop."
“Let me be the one to deal with him,” Charlie said with a smile, a sudden boost of confidence.
Husk grunted to himself and the three of them headed deeper into the alley they were in until they came upon a sleek white car. Vagatha didn't know much about cars, but she could guess that it was a carefully preserved old model.
Husk tied Vagatha from hands and legs and blindfolded before throwing her into the back seats of the car and taking the driver's seat and Charlotte the passenger seat. Vagatha could hear them arguing, probably over what to do with her, but Vagatha was too busy trying to free herself from her restraints and remove her blindfold.
Husk started the car and the three of them drove out of the alley onto busier streets in the city. After several minutes of spinning around like a twisted worm in the back seats, Vagatha managed to remove the blindfold over one of her eyes. She immediately tried to see through the window as she lay down and was only able to recognize the silhouettes of the buildings for a short period of time before the car entered parts of the city she was unfamiliar with.
At a certain point, the natural light was decimated as the car entered a place Vagatha couldn't tell exactly where it was, once the car stopped Vagatha could only assume that the discussion between Charlotte and Husk about what to do with her had only been postponed. for later.
Vagatha lost sight of them as they got out of the car, but she could still hear one of them approach the back door of the car Vagatha was staring at and saw their shadow rise from the car window, immersing Vagatha's silhouette as a prelude to her destiny.
Shit! She could see when she was supposed to be blindfolded! Even if she didn't know exactly where she was she could guess an approximate and that could end up killing her.
The car knob began to move to open.
"Okay. This was it. All or nothing. I will fight until I find a way out like I always do,” Vagatha thought. "And that old bastard is not going to s-!"
When the door opened, Charlotte was on the other side. Each looking at the other in a frozen response. Vagatha found herself on the verge of getting into a fight as Charlotte thawed into a fawning response as she put Vagatha's blindfold back where it was supposed to be. Most of Vagatha’s self-preservation anger de-escalated, leaving just enough for a sense of alertness and wariness.
"Who's the dead weight?" A male voice asked between laughs as Vagatha felt her legs and arms being tied to a wooden chair.
"Angel! Not today please don't start! She's not dead weight."
“She soon she will be,” Vagatha heard Husk say.
"OK!" Chalotte took a deep, quick breath. “You two, enough! No one is going to die unless I say so!"
“Tell that to my mood for a good night. I had a guy I had to extort for money and then suck his dick, but youuuuu had to bring this thing and ruin everything!"
“This thing has a name and it's official Jimenez for you, you bunch of morons! All of you and your poor asses are about to end up in jail for the rest of your miserable lives! Starting with you, asshole!” Vagatha exclaimed still blindfolded.
Nobody answered.
"I'm talking to the wall, aren't I?" She sighed in a defeated tone and then received a few pats, almost smacks, on the back of her neck.
"I'm here, sweetie." Angel taunted her from behind. Vagatha tried to stand up and defend what little dignity she had left, but any effort of hers was decimated by Husk's heavy hand keeping her in her place. Such reinforcement only spurred Vagatha to try even more.
"Can you stop fighting for a minute?" Charlotte raised her voice clearly fed up with the situation. "Please? She's just a police officer and not our enemy. In any case, she has done more for the city than all of us put together.”
Angel laughed profusely and let out a great breath of joy. "And why would I do that? The only thing this city has ever done for me is be a pain in the ass. And not the pleasant one.” Vagatha didn't need to see to know that Angel was smiling.
"Eeeh, I think we should kill her," Husk muttered drunkenly with bottle in hand, Vagatha could guess from the weight in his words and the sound of bouncing liquid.
"Thanks for agreeing with me, honey." Angel purred moving closer to Husk and hugging his arm as he placed his hand on his chest.
"I fucking didn’t!"
"Then what are we going to do, ‘Her Majesty’? If she is not an enemy to us, then what is she?"
Charlotte ignored the nickname she hated for being lost in thought about her until her face lit up with the distinctive expression of having had a new idea.
“How about we make it one of us?” Charlotte proposed with the same naturalness with which someone orders in a restaurant.
This expression was received by different reactions by those present in the room.
Indifference. Inconvenience. Confusion.
"You mean a traitor?" Angel asked.
"No! No. She was thinking more of a-"
"Traitor?"
"No."
“Liar?”
"No…"
“Two faces!
"I meant a double agent!" Charlotte yelled raising her hands.
For a few seconds Angel just stared at her without saying anything until he burst out laughing. “And what is she going to do!? Bring you donuts and coffee!? No, no, no. Wait! I got a better one! You will make her arrest people over stepping flowers!” Angel continued to laugh so hard that he began to double over himself for a while having the blast of his life. Eventually his laughter gradually ceased as he wiped the tears from his eyes. “Well, I think I've had enough fun here. Let me know when it's time to take out the trash.” There was nothing Vagatha wanted more at that moment than for her to kick the huge, stupid grin off Angel's face. The mocking criminal dragged Husk to go with him to another room, leaving Vagatha and Charlotte in an uncomfortable silence which made Charlotte sadder despite being the one with her hands not tied behind her back and her eyes blindfolded.
After verifying they could have some privacy, Charlotte removed the blindfold in an attempt to make the best of the situation, although she couldn't deny that she backed down a little when Vagatha still had that fierceness instilled in her face, contrasting against the expression Charlotte's fearful and evasive expression as she played with her hands unconsciously.
“Look, I know you don't have many reasons to trust me, or…none at all. But, you can trust me when I tell you that I have no intention to harm you."
Vagatha's eye narrowed in contempt. “Why should I have the same sentimentality when I walk out of here and kick the door down with a full SWAT team!?”
Charlotte looked down at the floor with a reluctant smile. “Yes, I can understand why you would want to do…that…after…this.”
"Yessss! And 'that' is just!-"
The sound of an incoming call interrupted Vagatha. The tone was that of an excessively colorful musical that got Vagatha off the hook. She didn't need to wonder who was calling after Charlotte answered with a: “Hi Ma!” calmer than she could pronounce.
"Lilith Morningstar." Vagatha's mind makes sure to note if, and only if, what Charlotte has said so far is true.
Seizing the opportunity in her new solitude, Vagatha rocked in the chair until she fell under her own weight to the floor. A grunt later, she searched the room for something to cut her bonds with until…
Bingo! Vagatha saw a knife on the edge of a shelf in what appeared to be a compact little kitchen. "Of course! Thank god for the stupidity of these buenos para nada.”
Her path to the kitchen was like that of a worm: embarrassing and slow. She couldn't stand up or even roll into the kitchen because of the chair on her back. Eventually Vaggie managed to position herself just below where the knife hung. She rocked her body so that the chair hit the furniture and the tremor dropped the knife.
The bladed weapon wobbled but not enough to fall. If she hit harder she could draw everyone's attention back to herself. But if she didn't risk it, Vagatha would make sure she stayed trapped there, so Vagatha did what she did worst and was to face the odds against her.
After stronger blows, the knife ended up falling under her own weight over the precipice.
The sharp end of it landed on Vagatha's cheek, opening a small wound and causing it to bleed slightly. Vagatha grunted for a moment before her face was filled with the first sign of real joy of the day.
Ok, maybe of the week.
Her knife bounced a few meters away from her and Vagatha rolled as far as she could with a chair on her back until she managed to grab the handle of it with her hands tied behind her back and lay on her side. she.
Slowly but surely, Vagatha cut her bonds and with her free hand she finished freeing herself from the chair.
Her first thought was to escape from that damned place. But the side of her most eager for recognition of her prompted her to search the place for something she could use as blackmail material against Charlotte. Or at least use as confirmation of the big fish she claimed to be, or her connection to one.
While exploring the place, she came across a warehouse full of garbage and plastic crates with a large wooden table at the end of the room against one wall. On that wall Vagatha found a mural with several photos connected with a red thread. Vagatha acknowledged that all the photos were of relatively recently renovated places from last year and recent months.
On the same mural he found photos of abandoned places, consumed by dirt and neglect, connected by a light blue thread.
Why were these places points of interest to this woman and what were her intentions?
Curse! She if she only had her phone to take photos as evidence, but she had left it in her car. Only if she still had her police car that hadn't been stolen or vandalized.
Vagatha shook her head. "It doesn't matter. I need to get out of here to-"
CLICK!
One moment Vagatha was looking at the series of photos on the mural and the next she had turned to the source of the sound which turned out to be Charlotte, pointing a gun at Vagatha in her hands, her grip shaking from it.
“Ok, I know this looks bad. But I REALLY needed you to listen to me for five minutes before I-"
"Before I do something I regret?"
"Before I do." Charlotte cocked her pistol. The gun killed the silence before the bullet did.
"You don't know what you're doing, so let me tell you that a-"
BOOM!
Her ears went deaf for a second followed by a gasping sound. A trail of smoke passed through the room. Vagatha felt a brief, hard push. Her hand was slow to respond when she wanted to put it on her stomach. She suddenly felt sticky and wet, and lifting her up in front of her face she could see it covered in shocked red until it all faded and she received another reality check instead.
"AGGHHH!"
"Oh my God!"
"WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!"
Charlotte's pistol fell to the ground at the same time as Vagatha's body with a heavy thud. She didn't know at what moment she found himself in Charlotte's arms while she was bleeding at great speed while she was screaming something and…she was dragging her? The cold enveloped her and she did not know what to do. Her arms moved without her control. They touched everything within her reach, looking for something to cling to without purpose.
The next thing she remembered was more screaming and a great urge to vomit. Flickering lights and a head world filled her senses, and then, darkness.
The next thing he remembers is opening his eyes to an annoying light from which she couldn't hide. As her eyes adjusted to the new, annoying lights, Vagatha found herself lying in a hospital room bed in the middle of the night.
It took her several minutes to realize that she was connected to only-God-knows how many monitors and an IV. A nurse stopped her from removing it and informed her that she had received a gunshot wound to her abdomen.
Vagatha immediately tried to get up upon hearing that, but she got a horrible cramp inside her. As if someone had opened her wound, had reached inside and crushed her organs from inside her until they turned to a thick red mush. Vagatha fell back onto the bed limp and sighing heavily. Subsequently, Vagatha probed her stomach with her fingers and found a large patch on the left side of her abdomen.
The nurse told her, not to say she ordered her, that she should rest until she was discharged. Worst of all, she was not told when that would happen.
"Who brought me here?"
“Your friend, and I think her grandfather. Do you think you can contact them? It would be nice to have them as a support system until you get better, they left before we could get their information."
Her heartbeat quickened at that moment. Proof of this was her heart rate monitor. “…They…will be leaving town soon. But I have people who can…help me. I am a police officer. I need to notify my superiors of my…mishap.”
The nurse complied and gave her a phone with which she called her police sergeant. The first four minutes consisted of pure yelling and cursing, Vagatha tightening her grip on her phone with an urge to throw it out the window as her blood pressure rose by the minute.
But the real worst came the next morning after her scolding when Vagatha received her first visit from another male police officer with a goatee and a similar complexion to Vagatha's.
Relief was one of the last sensations that Vagatha felt when she saw him. One of the reasons for her being hers, having abandoned her to her fate in her turn —to mention a few of hers. Another reason being that she knew the only reason she and he were together was because of forces beyond her control.
“You look like shit,” was the first thing he said upon seeing her.
"Eat shit, Arackniss."
"Yes whatever. When do you think you'll be able to get your ass out of bed? The sergeant has been bothering me because you-"
"You've been fucking missing!"
“-been missing. He 'asked' me to investigate the activities of a person who has been leaving packages of money at random locations and see if there is any connection. Don't you happen to know something?" Arackniss looked out the window as if the streets were a thousand times more interesting than her mate before turning to see her. “Ah, why am I asking you? I'm sure your ass was glued to the police car seat. Oh by the way, they stole it from you.”
The conversation between the two ended shortly after. Vagatha had proven more than once that talking to Arackniss was just as productive as talking to a brick wall.
Vagatha was released after a few days of observation—no more visitors, but she was taken off work and forced to take a two-week vacation.
She spent the first week on alert peering through the tall windows of her curtained apartment looking for the car in which she was kidnapped as her main pastime, apart from an old TV whose signal sometimes failed. Usually Vagatha spent her free time at the shooting range or exercising, but with her gunshot wound she couldn't leave the house and do any kind of minimally demanding physical activity hurt too much.
She jumped exalted whenever she heard a sound outside her apartment, forcing her to look through the peephole of her door into the hallway, distrusting every shadow and figure that caught sight of her.
In the middle of a night, one of the few in which she went to bed, Vagatha couldn't stop tossing and turning between the sheets with the worldly sounds filling her brain with background noise coming through the window. But then, through the distant sound, she could make out someone's footsteps in the hallway. She wondered who could come to her house so late at night as the sound reached its crescendo as it reached Vagatha's door. She expected the footsteps to recede into the distance and disappear, but instead the sound stopped immediately. Vagatha's pupils went in the direction of the door.
For a moment she Vagatha thought that maybe she was just overanalyzing him and that she needed to go to some damn sleep, but then she could see the shadow of a person coming under her door. still. She could see how the shadow crouched over the door, but she couldn't guess exactly what it wanted to do. Then the shadow moved away from her and with it the silence returned, failing to reassure the sleepless police.
Vagatha lay tense with one foot off the bed; just in case you have to jump into action. Her heart pounded in her ears waiting for things to go to shit, only to have her heart beat even harder when it never did.
She only dared to move after several minutes when her body could no longer bear the stillness and agony. She pulled her pistol out from under her mattress. One that she had supposedly lost "In action" on one of her shifts.
She walked as close to the wall as she could, reaching the door wearing only a white tank top and gray shorts. Vagatha put her ear against the wall looking to hear whatever the person outside was up to, but she heard nothing.
She pulled the door open just enough to pull the barrel of her pistol out of the small opening. Even finding nothing Vagatha kept her guard up. She closed the door briefly before removing the chain and opening it fully again and immediately ducking around a corner at the entrance to her apartment and she pointed towards the door holding her pistol firmly with both hands.
Vagatha checked both sides of the corridor quickly, finding nothing and no one in the proximity, but when she had started to explore beyond her door, her foot collided with a small box on the floor.
At first there was no clue that could tell her who the sender might be, though due to the fact that it was the box it was neat and ordinary she did give him a clue as to who she might be.
Her curiosity mixed with her insomnia almost prompted her to open the box just then, but the nuts in her brain turned at the right time and she remembered who it may have come from.
Vagatha immediately went back inside her apartment and put the box on her kitchen table as soon as she could. The thought of calling Arackniss or her sergeant crossed her mind sooner rather than later. Doing this alone was perhaps the most sensible thing to do, but then she would have to explain why she received that package, and thus her encounter with probably the daughter of the biggest mob lord in the city, how and why she had made it out alive and…
She shook her head when it began to spin due to the mental overexertion in digesting and processing the situation at such late hours of the night. She taped several forks at the ends and crafted a long stick with a knife at the end to open the box from a safe distance.
By the time she managed to open the box hidden behind a table with her homemade elongated stick, Vagatha waited a couple of minutes in anxiety, excitement, and sleep depravity. After nearly falling asleep, Vagatha forced herself to check the box herself.
Inside she found a phone. A much better one than the one she had. Taped to the phone was a yellow note taped that read: “So so Sorry to shoot you! I hope these gifts help you feel better. Get well soon! ^_^”
Vagatha read the letter several times hoping to find some secret message or clue that would tell her the location of the eccentric woman, but she found nothing.
After the eighth reading, she realized that the letter mentioned "gifts." Vagatha had only found the phone. Checking the box, she realized that it was too big and heavy to hold just a phone, not to mention that she could feel something crashing against the cardboard as she shook it like a child going through her Christmas presents to guess what they were.
She cut a hole in the bottom of the box with the same makeshift long knife and could make out something green in the hole she made. She expanded the gap with her hands and suddenly her eyes froze at the sight of the unmistakable green of bills peeking through the cuts.
She removed the lid that covered the bills completely and discovered that the entire bottom of the box was full.
It was then that she understood. Like a bucket of cold water falling on her without warning.
They were bribing her.
Or…were they trying to? She hadn't accepted the money yet…but she had already taken it…and it was inside her apartment…
She tried to find clues on the smartphone that she found in the box for clues to contact Charlotte.
No apps. No numbers. No messages. No secret codes.
Then the second bucket of cold water fell on her head.
They were going to contact her. Not the other way around.
That woman was more intelligent than she had anticipated.
She had received a one-way ticket to the criminal mob world and they did not accept refunds.

This idea originally came from a Pinterest prompt, I had the intention for this to be a one-shot, but the more I wrote it down, the more I had to add and solidify for this whole story to make sense, and by the time I realized it, this was getting too long for a one-shot, not to mention that I was liking it too much and I was realizing the potential that this story had, so now the idea is to divide it into a few chapters.
Not gonna lie, I feel a little guilty pleasure writing this story since I should be working on other projects that I have pending, but I think I can make the best of this situation.

°•— Lucifer morningstar x former spouse!reader
This includes Greek mythology.(basically, the reader is the daughter of Nyx, the primordial Greek goddess of the night and a consort to Erebus, the god of darkness, and one of the first goddesses, the person who made the earth, sky and sea with the one and only heavenly father. In this au, only two of Nyx's children, Hypnos, the god of sleep, and Hemera, goddess of the day are present.)
ch.1, ch.2
Tumblr media
After wrapping up her day's work, Helena was filled with anticipation to return home and see her mother and brother.
As she tidied her desk, the two angels who had been standing guard outside her office bowed in respect. Earlier, they had been on edge during Lucifer's visit, but now they had returned to their usual stoic demeanor.
While traversing the celestial corridors, Helena ran into Artemis, the goddess of chastity, hunting, and the moon. Despite Artemis' lunar dominion, Y/n, as Nyx's daughter, also held the title of a moon goddess, ruling over the stars and everything that shone in the night sky.
"Greetings, Lady Artemis," Helena greeted with a courteous nod. In response, Artemis scoffed lightly, "No need for formalities, Helena. You know better." Helena could only nod at her statement.
The conversation then shifted towards Lucifer's recent visit. Helena's expression soured, not at Artemis, but at the memories of her strained meeting with her father.
"Yes, indeed," Helena replied, her tone heavy with evident resentment towards her father. Artemis understood the underlying emotions, grateful that it was Helena facing him and not Aether.
Helena harbored complex feelings towards Lucifer, a blend of resentment and lingering affection. She couldn't overlook his betrayal of her mother, yet memories of times when he had brought joy to her mother still lingered, faintly softening her stance towards him.
Artemis inquired about Helena's plans to inform her mother or brother. Helena sighed, contemplating the consequences, especially considering Aether's volatile temperament. "So, will you?"
"I'll inform Aether," Helena replied, a little hesitant. "It might cause a stir, but he deserves to know."
Artemis wanted to dissuade her, foreseeing Aether's potential reaction, but seeing Helena's resolve, she nodded in understanding.
"It's getting late. Go home; your mother must be worried," Artemis suggested, bidding Helena farewell as she headed homeward.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Lucifer was grappling with the revelation of his daughter's existence. A daughter from Y/n Athanasios, his former spouse? The news sent his thoughts into a whirlwind of confusion and disbelief.
As he crafted more rubber ducks in his room, attempting to soothe his mind, the weight of the revelation lingered. He had unknowingly fathered twins with Y/n, and the knowledge left him deeply unsettled.
Charlie's imminent visit to heaven added another layer of complexity. Would she meet Helena, Aether, or both? Or what if she meets Y/n? Lucifer's mind raced with uncertainty, compounded by his lack of knowledge about the other twin.
Helena's presence, with her eyes concealed by white X-shaped laces, symbolized her reluctance to fully embrace her heritage. Lucifer couldn't help but wonder about the reasons behind her choice, is it because he has his eyes? Or something else?
The realization that he had failed not just Charlie but two more children from his first marriage weighed heavily on him. His love for Y/n and Lilith intertwined with regrets and unresolved feelings, further complicating his emotional turmoil.
Shaking himself from his reverie, Lucifer chided himself to focus on Charlie's impending visit. Yet, thoughts of his past, Y/n, and the twins continued to plague his mind,
Refusing to be silenced, his thoughts of his past, Y/n, and the twins persisted.
Tumblr media
Later, at heaven's gate, Charlie and Vaggie encountered an unexpected hurdle. “Hiya! Welcome to heaven, can I get your name, please?” A feminine-like blond welcomed them with a huge smile on his face, not as huge as Alastor's, but a huge smile.
“Oh! Uh, uh, uhh, Charlie, Morningstar!” Charlotte answered, tone as bright as day while vaggie is just on her side, arms crossed.
“Charlie Morningstar, hm..” The male feminine angel looked through the names ‘Charlie’ as his smile began to drop.
“I'm not seeing you on my list, here,” he said as his smile showed once again, but this time, he smiled nervously. “That's so odd..”
Charlie nervously cut him off, “uh, uh— My dad got me this meeting, so maybe—”
“Oh, dad, okay.” the angel mumbled, still listening to Charlie.
“So maybe… Try Lucifer.. Morning…. Star.” Said Charlie.
“Oh! Fuck! Yeah, hoo, he he he, yikes! Am I right?” He panicked as he heard the name of the fallen angel, “are you sure you're in the right place? I think you might be a little lost.”
Vaggie scoffed. “Ugh, here we go.”
“No,no,no, uh, we're here for our meeting..” Charlie explained.
“Saint Peter,” two seraphims flew down to Charlie and Vaggie, as another, who's the granddaughter of the goddess of the night flew down with her pegasus.
“We can take it from here,” the older seraphim said as she and the younger one transformed in a much more human-like form.
“Greetings, Charlotte Morningstar, we've been expecting you.” Helena greeted. “I am Helena Athanasios, and these are our two magnificent seraphims, Sera the high seraphim, and—” Helena was cut of by the younger seraphim who squealed at Charlie.
“Hi! I'm Emily, the other seraphim, though, you can call me em, emi, e…” Emily rambled on what to call her as Helena gave her pegasus permission to leave.
“Welcome to heaven.” Emily welcomed Charlie and Vaggie, Saint Peter began to sing a song to welcome the two, letting them inside heaven as they continued to sing until the song’s finished.
Helena looked at her half-sister who was talking with Emily. Noticing Sera’s gone, she looked behind and saw her discussing something with the first man and lute, Helena was suspicious about the three but brushed it off when her brother, Aether, appeared beside her.
“Why’s that man’s offspring here?” He asked, making Helena roll her eyes, “seriously, no ‘hello, sis’ or anything?” She asked sarcastically, Aether scoffed, “hello, bitch. There, happy? Now, tell me why Morningstar's daughter is here.”
“I'm his daughter as well, you know.” Helena told Aether, who started to glare at her. “He didn't pay child support, no he isn't.” Aether argued, “Fight stupidly later after the meeting, and don't tell mother about this, got it?”
Aether looked at her with a ‘of course’ reaction, “I won't, why would I even do that, I don't want to see mother’s reaction about us meeting that man’s daughter from hell.” The two walked to a cafe, since there's still some time before the trial.
As the events unfolded, tensions rose both in heaven and among Lucifer's offspring, each grappling with their own revelations and decisions that would shape their future interactions.
Tumblr media
The trial concluded with unsettling revelations and rising tensions. Sera's hidden plans for an extermination event involving Adam and the twins' connection to Lucifer left Aether and Helena deeply unsettled.
" what in the heavens is going on with this extermination plan?" Aether demanded answers.
"Helena, let me handle this, 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦" Aether's tone was edged with frustration as he confronted Sera.
But Helena intervened, stopping Aether from escalating the situation further. "Aether, it's futile. We'll deal with this our way," Helena's eyes narrowed as she directed a piercing gaze at Sera.
"It's none of your concern. And Helena, Aether, understand this is beyond your jurisdiction. Do not involve your mother or anyone else," Sera's words were laced with authority.
Helena clicked her tongue disapprovingly. "Apologies, Sera, but we are not your pawns. We'll inform our mother as we see fit," Helena's resolve was unwavering.
Sera's expression hardened. "If you choose to disclose this, there will be consequences," Sera warned, attempting to exert control.
Aether scoffed at the threat. "We'll take our chances. Our loyalty lies with our mother," Aether declared firmly, before taking Helena's hand and departing on a pegasus.
Sera was left with a sense of nostalgia, recognizing Lucifer's stubbornness in his offspring. She pondered the repercussions if the Olympians and the Archangels were to discover the hidden truth.
Tumblr media
On the other side, Charlie grappled with her own turmoil. Vaggie, giving her space to process, left Charlie deep in thought.
Persephone's roses, she couldn't fathom that her lover was once an exorcist, nor that she had two half-siblings! Observing Aether's resemblance to Lucifer and Helena's shared features with their father, Charlie found herself in a whirlwind of revelations and emotions.
Once she gathered her composure, Charlie knew she had to confront her father about these revelations, seeking clarity and understanding about this matter.

lucifer leaves charlie in charge of LUX. says that she’s learned as much as she was going to, to take over right away. and well it was always going to go to her. she’s a little overwhelmed, which is why ammenadiel helps run the place, but it is absolutely what she needs to distract herself with him gone.
even though it’s been two months, charlie knows that time runs a little differently down in hell - which means she feels the pain of the loss between them a lot worse. its been hard especially dealing with an uncle who’s trying his best to be a father and to be distracted. but when chloe mentions that lucifer is back that he saved her - charlie is a little skeptical - especially since he hasn’t come to visit her ... michael knows that she knows her father and knows that that isn’t him.

Happy Easter: Dysfuctional Family
Charlie: (blowing a kazoo through the hotel while wearing white bunny ears and tail, carrying an Easter basket, and throwing bright colored and decorated eggs everywhere)
HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE!!!
Hazbins: (groan collectively)
Vaggie: (slightly distracted by the tail) Hun, love the enthusiasm, but do you even know the purpose of Easter Sunday is?
Charlie: (cracks open a Cadbury egg and siphons out the innards with her tongue) Isn't it just an excuse to binge on chocolate and snuggle fluffy little bunnies and ducklings?
Angel: (clutches his pearls in ex-Catholic Italian horror) Mama Mia!
Lucifer: *Squeeeeee!* I'll be right back!
Vaggie: I guess that's a more corporate way to put it.
Angel: That's IT!!! I'm making my Mama's Italian Easter Bread! Charlie, you need to be schooled on Easter!
Alastor: Hmmm... I suppose if we're doing a full celebration, I can do a little something to liven things up. (Snaps his fingers, and everyone's clothes are transformed into various colored Bunny footie pajamas)
Charlie: (wearing hot pink bunny jammies and twirls) Oooooh! These are so cuuuute!
Vaggie: (in pastel lavender pajamas and snarling) Cabron!
Angel: (sneaky smirk as he wears a pastel pink and white two-piece pajama suit) Oh, Smiiiiiiles?
Alastor: (simply wearing red bunny ears) No.
Angel: C'mon! Hear me out! (Whispers in Alastor's ear)
Alastor: Hmmmmm.... I'll allow it! (Snaps his fingers again)
Vaggie: (baggy bunny jammies suddenly transform into a black and velvet purple, Las Vegas Showgirl bunny suit with white tail and ears, fishnets, and heels with purple wrist cuffs)
Angel: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! LOOKING GOOD, VAGS!!!!
Vaggie: (growls and tries to cover herself) FUCKING-A, ANGEL!!! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU TELL HIM?!?!?!
Angel: Does it matter? I don't have a soul to sell. (Sees Charlie) Ha! Might wanna focus on your girlfriend, Toots.
Vaggie: What? (Looks at Charlie)
Charlie: (blushing, heart eyes, panting like a puppy, and her pajamas turned into a similar Showgirl suit but red with fox ears and tail)
Vaggie: Ch-Charlie? Charlie! No. No! Charlotte Morningstar, we are in front of guests! Shit! (Runs down the hallway)
Charlie: (hearts explode around her head) Hippity-Hoppity, that ass is my property! (Gives chase)
...........
Vaggie: (rounds back around the corner while carrying Charlie bridal style) Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!
Lucifer: (rides in on a tidal wave of fluff infused rubber duckies while wearing yellow ducky footie pajamas with orange webbed feet) RELEASE THE QUACKEN!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Alastor: (sighs in aroace exhaustion as a random rubber duck bounces off his head)
Angel: (slowly calming down as he wipes a tear from his eye) It's just like home~

GO TO HELL [ch. 4]
Tumblr media
[Lucifer Morningstar x Fem!Reader]
Previous: Chapter Three
➨ Chapter Four
Next: Chapter Five
Premise:
You love your friends. You really do. But sometimes it needs reminding when one of them accidentally sends you to Hell.
Despite falling into the hands of Hell’s loveliest princess, finding a way back to the world of the living proves difficult as you tiptoe around its king.
A/N: shout out to my very own "power bottom at rock bottom" (aka my roommate) for harnessing her inner Angel Dust and feeding into some of his dialogue.
If you'd prefer to read on Ao3, here is the link:
Otherwise, enjoy!
♡ ♡ ♡
CHAPTER FOUR
The car ride home was mostly silent and incredibly tense.
You also couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched. When you looked around to sate your paranoia, you found nothing suspicious and whittled it down to the anxiety having your face plastered across every news channel in hell.
On your way out of her father’s manor, you decided to fill Charlie in about your hands and cheek. She said it was a gamble whether her dad would react well to your being human or not. Being neutral to it, however, was something she would not have imagined. She was just relieved that you were alright.
She theorized that he may have assumed you were just wearing face paint for ‘shits and giggles’ (your words, not hers). There were some demons in Hell that did have skin tones similar to when they were human, so it wouldn’t be too outrageous for you to, as well.
Though it would be no surprise if he jumped to the conclusion that you were human due to your being televised all over Hell the day prior.
Not knowing where his head was at was going to kill you.
But worrying about that wasn’t going to get you anywhere. Charlie believed you two had searched everywhere in her old place that was likely to hold the key to you getting home. To your relief, the likelihood of returning was slim to none.
There was no need to stress over her father figuring you out since you wouldn’t have to risk running into him again.
The only thing you needed to focus on was getting those godforsaken cobwebs off the chandelier in the hotel foyer.
Vaggie was able to get the place mostly cleaned up in the time you were gone, but there were still a few things left that you were able to help with. After all they had done for you, this was the least you could do for them in return.
As you climbed back down the ladder, you saw Charlie pacing and muttering to herself. Even though you only met her recently, you knew how much the hotel and her plan to redeem sinners meant to her.
If this didn’t go well, she would absolutely take it to heart. She seemed like the type to barricade herself in a room to sulk for weeks on end. Or maybe bawl her eyes out whilst shoveling heaping spoonfuls of ice cream down her own throat.
Probably both.
“You know, this place is really coming together,” you said as you walked up to her.
She paused to face you.
“You think so?” she asked, glancing around the foyer in search of anything in need of tending. “Gosh, what if he doesn’t like the color scheme, or—or the motifs? What if he decides he isn’t interested in redemption at all?”
“Hey,” you said to get her attention as you leaned back into her view. “If he weren’t interested in what you’re offering, he wouldn’t be coming by to check things out. And I really don’t think your choice in décor will be what turns him away.”
You chuckled a bit as you glanced at the odd horse statues and slightly tattered wallpaper. It wasn’t modern or trendy, but it did have character. That was for sure.
She nodded with a far-off gaze, ruminating on your words.
“Even if he does decide that this isn’t for him—though I don’t think that will happen—there are so many people down here! I find it hard to believe that you won’t find some who are interested,” you continued. “Think about all the souls that believed they’d be going to Heaven but ended up here instead. They’d probably give up an arm and a leg to be redeemed.”
Her shoulders slacked, and her back loosened as she released a deep breath. Looking back at you, her face appeared more relaxed.
“Yeah…you’re totally right,” she said with a soft smile. “We just need to be patient.”
“I think this guy would be stupid not to accept your offer.” You bumped her arm playfully as you went to continue tidying up.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw her smile and walk off, presumably to do the same.
Everyone was putting the final touches on everything when there was a knock on the front door. You paused in the middle of sliding the sofa across the room so you could get a look at whoever was there.
Charlie and Vaggie looked at each other in surprise.
“I told him to text or call before showing up,” Vaggie grumbled, running a hand through her bangs as she went to answer the door.
He was quite…tall.
You had forgotten their appearances could vary so much. Charlie, her father, and Vaggie were relatively similar to a regular person, despite some slight cosmetic differences. This guy, however, had an extra set of limbs and was covered head to toe in what looked like fur.
Upon closer inspection, he also had what appeared to be three additional pairs of eyes underneath his primary ones.
Was he supposed to be a bug?
You shuffled forward as Charlie introduced herself. She had fixed up your makeup once you returned, so there was nothing to worry about regarding your own appearance. You had double and even triple-checked beforehand.
“This is it?”
“Uh…yes?” Charlie said meekly with her hands clasped in front of her chest.
He gave the foyer a hard once-over.
“Eh, anything’s betta’ than my current digs,” he said with a shrug and started walking around. “You got drinks?”
“No? The point of redemption is to stop engaging in sin,” Vaggie stated, crossing her arms. “Which means cutting out drugs?”
“You’re kiddin’ me,” he said as his body slumped. “What the hell am I supposed to do then? Play checkers?”
“Ooh, Checkers would be a fun way to break the ice!” Charlie sang, clapping her hands together.
This earned her a blank look from the new guest.
“Aha…” she laughed awkwardly at the bland response, then turned to gesture at you. “Well, this is our current resident! We have faith that she will be redeemed very soon.”
You gave a wide smile as you were being shown off. Should you strike a pose? Put your hands on your hips and puff your chest out in pride?
You didn’t mind being a fake example of a sinner-gone-good to help her out. It was the least you could do at this point. Plus, when you finally got the hell out of there, you could all play it off as you being ‘redeemed’.
“Yup, yup. Sin-free life has been pretty great,” you said, crossing your arms.
The guy already seemed exasperated. Vaggie was right when she said he was more interested in free rent than redemption itself.
“What did you say your name was again?” you asked in an attempt to keep the conversation from dying out before it had even started.
He perked a bit and plastered on a sultry smirk.
“Angel Dust,” he said as he swiped a hand through his hair(?) (head fluff?). “If you’re interested in gettin’ to know me betta’, I’ve got a nice collection of videos I can refer ya to.”
“No,” Vaggie groaned. “He’s a pornstar.”
Your eyebrows shot up.
“I mean, more power to you,” you shrugged, and he snickered.
“Wasn’t expectin’ that sorta career choice to fly with someone aspirin’ to cross through them pearly gates.” He tilted his head as he eyed you carefully, leaning down slightly to be more at your eye level.
“What makes you think that?” you asked, raising your chin. “In my opinion, a redeemable gal like myself should be respectful of other’s bodily autonomy.”
“Last I checked, the pious types weren’t so down with cock-suckin’ hoes. I mean,” he paused and smirked, “some of ‘em were down with us cock-suckin’ hoes, but they did their darndest to pray that shit away afterward. The guilts part of the kink.”
Vaggie’s stance tensed more and more with each word that came out of his mouth. You were pretty sure her eye was twitching.
“Good people are accepting people!” Charlie exclaimed, throwing her arms out.
“You ain’t ever have to deal with the living, sugar-tits,” Angel said, draping himself over the couch in a way you were sure would be put on the front cover of a Playboy magazine. “But sure.”
You all began a short tour of the hotel much like the one you got when you first arrived. This time, however, Charlie was really trying to sell her redemption plan to him. She explained the terms of their deal. He would refrain from acts of sin, such as violence, drugs, yada-yada, and he could stay there for free.
As you began filing out of one of the available, move-in-ready rooms, you noticed Angel pause. He was looking at the ground with a blank expression, clearly contemplating something. You assumed he was weighing the pros and cons of Charlie’s offer, but you were no mind reader.
After showing off most of the relevant parts of the hotel, you gathered back in the entryway. Charlie stared Angel down expectantly, waiting in suspense for his decision.
She was overjoyed when he finally agreed.
“There’s no harm in tryin’, I guess.” He shrugged shooting a half-lidded smirk. “But I ain’t makin’ no promises that I’ll be the paragon of redeemability. I ain’t that type of model.”
When he left, he said he had to clear some things with his boss first and then he would start this whole ‘redemption thing’.
The three of you had a miniature celebration—juice, soda, and popcorn to go along with eager chatter—before you decided to address the stack of books you had hauled back to the hotel.
The evening was going swimmingly thus far, and you hoped that good luck would carry on to the very end of the night. Somewhere in that pile was your key to getting home. Your fingers were crossed that you would be sleeping in your own cozy bed that night.
You could finally take up your own offer on a nice hot bubble bath and let it soak away all the stress that had stockpiled within your body.
Sitting in a circle around the books, you began sifting through them.
Your hope dwindled bit by bit with every one you flipped through and set aside. They had everything to do with the living world except for the means of getting there.
Once the last book was deemed useless, you sat in sullen silence. A sort of emptiness settled within your chest.
If that was your best shot at returning, what else was there?
“Okay…that’s okay!” Charlie said in an attempt to lighten the mood. “We just have to try something else. Vaggie, you said you knew people who had access to Earth, right?”
“I said I knew of people,” she corrected. “But I did do a little bit of digging while you were out, and I might have a few leads?”
“Oh, perfect!” Charlie chirped, sitting straight up with her hands on her knees. “How about we look into those tomorrow then?”
You and Vaggie both nodded because what else were you supposed to do? You didn’t really have the option of giving up in this situation. Your life wasn’t going to wait on hold forever. It probably wasn’t waiting at all.
At this point, two full days would have passed since you ‘disappeared,’ but living alone makes it harder for people to notice that sort of thing. You doubted Devon would have reported it since that would likely result in them getting into even deeper shit (in addition to the can of whoop-ass you’d release onto them once you made it back).
And you knew better than to put any amount of faith into Jack. You were sure he noticed your absence. You had the texts to prove it. But he seemed to be convinced you were giving him the cold shoulder, which would most likely result in him pretending he didn’t give two flying fucks about you.
Fuck that bitch.
You wouldn’t say you slept like a baby that night, but you sure did sleep. You slept with the weight of despair threatening to overtake you with each failed attempt of finding a way back home.
And you know what?
It wasn’t half bad. Would you recommend it to someone else? No, not really. But you couldn’t tell them it was terrible.
Wiping the sleep from your eyes, you padded your way down the grand staircase. It was nice not having to wake up early to get all done up, but you still felt groggy. Possibly from sleeping too much.
You also appreciated being able to spend more time in the pajamas you were given, because good lord were they comfy.
Charlie and Vaggie let you know last night that they’d be leaving earlier in the morning to talk to the folks Vaggie believed might be able to access the living world. You stayed behind because you all agreed that dragging you through public in a not-so-durable disguise was a disaster waiting to happen.
However, they planned to be back in time for Charlie’s father to visit.
He had called her the previous night—just before you were all about to go your separate ways—to let her know he wanted to stop by. She told him he could drop by in the afternoon, and that was that.
You planned to coup yourself up in your room for the duration of his visit. You would rather die than address what had happened with the paint. If he had any questions regarding that, he could direct them towards his daughter. Thank you and goodnight (love you, Charlie! Muah!).
There was nothing to do until Charlie and Vaggie returned, but you still wanted caffeine or anything that could clear your brain fog.
They had stocked up the fridge and ‘pantry’ a bit more since you arrived, and Angel would likely move in any day now so there was also that to consider. Yet it was still a gamble on whether or not you could find something appealing.
You kneeled down in front of the fridge and began rummaging through your options.
Mysterious leftovers?
No.
Artichoke Hearts?
Eh…for breakfast? Probably not.
Coconut Milk?
No… You were surprised they even had coconuts in Hell. Unless, of course, they had sinners that manifested as coconuts, then you reckon they could milk—
No, absolutely not.
You were thinking about settling on a popsicle when you heard a knock at the front door.
Nobody should have been stopping by yet. Charlie’s dad wouldn’t be there until later, and you guys weren’t expecting anyone else. It could possibly be Angel, but you doubted he already spoke to his boss considering it was still morning.
The stained-glass doors didn’t disclose much about your surprise visitor. They were merely a shadowy figure, distorted by the odd shapes and colors.
Regardless of who it could be, you needed to hide or at least find a way to get back upstairs without being seen.
Slowly rising to your feet, you locked onto a rather large crate near the edge of the entryway.
You wouldn’t have to cross in front of the door to get there, which was ideal. Even though you knew the person on the other side couldn’t see you clearly, you preferred they not know you were there at all. Once you were at the crate, you could easily make your way around the room undetected.
Just as you were about to slip around it, you heard the front door creak open.
“Hello~” sang a familiar voice.
You hastily dodged behind the crate, your feet sliding slightly underneath you due to the new socks you had been gifted by your hosts. Thankfully, you were able to stabilize yourself before falling into anything.
Your heart was pounding away in your chest.
What was he doing here so early?
You pressed your back against the crate as you carefully sat down to wait for him to pass. Listening to his footsteps crossing the room was doing nothing to soothe your nerves. It was clear that he was in no rush to move on through the hotel. You could hear him as he sauntered around the foyer, pausing every once in a while before continuing on.
If he was taking in the sights, it was only a matter of time before he got to your side of the foyer.
You had to get out.
Taking a deep breath, you hesitantly peeked around your hiding spot to see where he was and whether he was looking your way.
To your relief, Charlie’s father was investigating a portrait on the wall opposite of you.
You wasted no time creeping across the floor to take cover behind the tattered old reception area. There was a body-length mirror resting against the wall just a few feet away that would give you a relatively good view of where he was.
As you were about to lean close enough to see through the mirror’s reflection, you heard him begin to hum just a few feet away. You scrambled to get beneath the desk.
How did he get so close so fast?
You understood the guy wasn’t human, but still. You were able to hear his footsteps clear as day up until that point. He shouldn’t know you were there; you were being so quiet…
Holding your breath, you waited for him to put some distance between the two of you. When you felt he was far enough away, you slowly scooted to the other side of the desk where you could hopefully get a view of the mirror.
Hearing him tampering with something, so you took the opportunity to glance at the mirror’s reflection.
He was prodding at one of the broken columns, testing its stability, it seemed. And his back was facing you. Perfect.
Glancing around the edge of the reception desk, you could see that the stairs weren’t too far away. It was a pretty open area, however, so you wondered if it would be better to beeline it down the adjacent hall instead.
Figuring that was likely the safer option, you checked the mirror once more to make sure his back was still turned.
You met his gaze in the reflection, and your eyes went wide as his lips curled into a wicked grin.
Fuck.
In a panic, you threw yourself out of view and knocked your head into the desk’s edge. The collision was certainly loud enough for him to hear, but you kept your pained whine quiet as you cradled your temple.
Your train of thought was quickly growing fuzzy, unsure of what to do or where to go.
Was it best to run?
What if he was faster?
Would your chances be better if you found another place to hide?
Probably not… He already knew where you were, and you weren’t sure where else you could even go.
All you knew was that you couldn’t stay where you were. If his eyes were still trained on the mirror, you would probably be better off going back the way you came. Maybe there was a gap in the crate that you could worm through to hide. It would be like you disappeared.
You turned back in that direction, and as you were about to dart back to the safety of your original hiding spot, two legs stepped in front of you.
You gasped, sliding to a halt just before you could crash into him.
Charlie’s father slowly crouched down to your level as you tilted your head to look up at him, eyes as wide as saucers. His smile was wide, showing off his large, pointed teeth.
“What do we have here?”

CHAPTER THREE
Well.
You finally made it on TV. Fame and fortune were nearly yours for the taking. People would be lining up outside for your autograph and maybe even just the chance to catch a glimpse of you.
The ‘Human in Hell.’
That was the headline the news broadcasters decided on. It was slapped on top of a clip of you hauling ass through the rancid streets of Hell. You were clearly panic stricken and fearing for your life, but why would the announcers care about that?.
A darn shame it was being aired live across all of Hell. Your dignity was the price you would pay for fame amongst the worst people to walk the Earth.
You were curled into yourself on the couch, unable to peel your eyes away from the screen. Vaggie was pacing behind it, muttering out profanities you didn’t know existed. And Charlie? She was doing her best to calm the both of you down. Bless her heart.
The reason you had to end your little escapade to the Morningstar Manor early was because Vaggie texted saying she had bad news. You thought perhaps her recruiting backfired or there could have been a fire in the hotel that she couldn’t put out.
You did not expect to be called back because the entirety of Hell now had you on their radar. This complicated things quite a bit as one might imagine. It was much easier to hide as a human when only a handful of people knew about you. Now, everyone’s eyes were peeled in hope of finding you.
“Look, she’s all-over social media, too,” Vaggie groaned, showing her phone screen to the two of you. She began to read off some of the posts, “Vox and Katy Killjoy are promising viewers an interview with her…There’s already bidding wars for Christ’s sake!”
“Let’s not worry too much about this…As long as we make sure she’s in her disguise when we’re out, it’ll all be okay,” Charlie said.
“They caught her on video. What if they tracked her to the hotel? They could show up any second looking for her!”
It was touching she cared so much about your well-being in this situation, but the goal was to have you back home as soon as possible. Once you were out of Hell, none of this would be a problem. You doubted demons would pass into the living world just to come after you. At that point, there was an endless number of humans to choose from.
“I don’t know…They probably would have already shown up if they knew she was here,” Charlie reasoned, and Vaggie’s pacing began to slow.
“I was able to get away from all the demons that were after me by the time I found the hotel,” you added. “No one should have been around to see me come in.”
Charlie was finally able to get Vaggie to sit, and a tense silence enveloped the three of you. Charlie was rubbing Vaggie’s arms soothingly, so you took it upon yourself to turn off the tv. There was no point in listening to it anymore. All it did was stress everyone out, and there was nothing you could really do about it. Your current plan of action remained the best.
“So how was your day, Vaggie?” you asked in hopes of breaching a more positive topic.
“Oh, right! Did you find anybody who would be interested in staying with us?” Charlie chimed in with a bright grin.
The poor girl sighed in response.
“There was one person who was interested in what we’re offering,” she began, “but he seemed more enticed by free rent than redemption…”
“That’s okay. Maybe if he spends a little time with us, the idea of redemption will start to grow on him!” Charlie sounded like she was also trying to convince herself.
“I guess…” Vaggie grumbled. “He said he might drop by tomorrow or the day after to check things out. Would that work for you guys?”
“Oh, my gosh. That would be great!” Charlie squealed, jumping up from the floor. “We have to head back to my dad’s in the morning, but any time after that would be perfect.”
“No luck today?”
“Not really,” you sighed. “We were able to look around a little bit but we ended up running into her old man.”
“And he tried interrogating her,” Charlie groaned, running her hands through her hair as the memory resurfaced. “I was so worried he would suspect something, but your emergency text totally saved us.”
“Did the disguise work at least?”
That was an excellent question. While he didn’t seem to question anything about your appearance, he still seemed suspicious. It was entirely possible he could smell your fear. You’d expect no less from a demon; they probably fed off of it. Who knows…
You should be nicer. Charlie and Vaggie certainly hadn’t given you that impression. In fact, you were pretty sure you saw one of them eating toast for breakfast. They likely had perfectly normal digestive systems.
“I think so! We’re just gonna have to make a good cover story in case he finds us again.”
The three of you began to brainstorm, losing track of time as it faded into playful conversation. There was an intermission to order food since their ‘kitchen’ still wasn’t quite ready to be used to such an extent. And eventually, you parted ways to get ready for bed.
Your arms were full after they had given you a towel and a plethora of toiletries to help scrub all the paint off of your body. When you entered your room, you were also greeted by your ‘human’ clothes, clean and neatly folded on top of your bed.
And laying on top of those was your phone.
Holy shit. You had completely forgotten you had it on you before your ass was ripped through that portal. Of course, the adrenaline rush that immediately followed your arrival in Hell didn’t help. And you were so eager to get those nasty, garbage covered clothes off, you hadn’t noticed the weight in your back pocket.
You dumped all the toiletries onto your bed to grab it.
The home screen was piled with notifications ranging from worried texts to company newsletter alerts. You began thumbing in your password to rifle through it all… but then you noticed your hand.
The paint was rubbed away.
On your fingers and wrists. There were splotches where paint was gone, revealing your natural skin underneath.
When did this happen?
Your palms were almost completely barren, likely from everything you had touched throughout the day. On the back of your hands and around your wrists, there were smaller spots where your skin was peeking through.
Like fingerprints.
You felt like you were delt a sucker punch to the gut.
Maybe…Maybe it was from your own hand. You could have been rubbing at your own wrists subconsciously. With all the stress-inducing shit going down, that wouldn’t be unlikely.
But if the paint could come off so easily…
No. You had to believe it was your own doing.
Regardless, you had to find a way to prevent it from happening again.
You opted to wait until the morning to break the bad news to Charlie and Vaggie. The two had just gone off to bed, and honestly, your nerves were getting the better of you. Your stomach was twisting in on itself as your heart pounded relentlessly against your ribs.
You would tell them. You would.
Just not right now.
More than anything, you wanted that dried up paint off of you.
Tossing your phone aside and grabbing your bathing supplies, you scrambled into the bathroom to throw the shower on. The feeling of peeling those clothes off and clambering in to let the hot water rush over your sticky body was ethereal. It was so satisfying to watch the unnatural pigment run off your skin, erasing any evidence that it may have transferred onto that man’s hands.
You closed your eyes and tilted your head back, hoping it would wash away your worries, as well.
Finding the will to get out of the shower was difficult. But your body was tired, as well as your mind.
Flicking the lights off, you tumbled into bed, content with its softness in that moment as the mattress and pillows consumed you entirely. You were more than ready to knock out and forget about all that had happened over the past couple of days.
You didn’t want to think about the fact you were likely being hunted by god knows how many hell-goers. You didn’t want to think about the impact the time you spent here would leave on your life in the living world. Your job, your relationships (thankfully you didn’t have a pet). More than anything, you didn’t want to think about the possibility you may never get home at all.
With a deep sigh, you rolled onto your side and felt something hard beneath your hip. You groaned as you reached down to remove it, finding the phone that you had carelessly tossed aside. It made your heart swell.
You wanted your friends. You wanted to read their texts, new and old. Hell, you wanted to see any memes or posts they may have sent you. Any semblance of normality was all you needed right now. You would take whatever you could get.
Slowly, you reached over and grabbed it. Its brightness hadn’t yet adjusted, and you squinted as you flash banged yourself.
Opening your messages, you saw Devon at the top. They said that they hoped you could see their message, that you were somehow okay.
That depends on what you consider to be ‘okay’.
Beneath them was that boy, Jack. He sounded upset. He probably thought you were ignoring his texts out of spite. His messages were a mixture of asking what was wrong and saying you were overreacting over whatever it was he had done.
You couldn’t recall him doing anything to upset you recently, so it seemed there were things you had yet to find out about. What a pain.
Your other friends that you were supposed to spend time with today were expressing their concern for your absence.
Are you coming?
Where are you?
Is everything okay?
Please respond.
It made your heart ache. You needed to let them know you were at least alive.
As soon as you started writing a message of your own, the text began to buzz. The overhead light and lamps in your room began to strobe, and pixels of red flashed across your screen as a horrible humming emanated from the phone. It sounded as if the room was filled with a swarm of bees. It was deafening.
Then you noticed those shackles.
Those red, glowing shackles that dragged you here were flickering around your wrists once more. You sat straight up, ready for them to pull you somewhere new, but then the room went dark and the noise was gone.
You could still feel the sheets beneath your knees, and when you turned on the lamp beside your bed, the room looked untouched. At the very least, you knew you hadn’t been thrown through another portal.
There was no sign that anything had happened at all.
Your phone would not turn on again after that whole…event…from the night before. At most, it would crackle at you, but the screen remained black. It was possible it just died from low battery, but you weren’t paying attention to that. You wondered what the odds were that Charlie would have a compatible charger.
You could ask her about it later.
The two of you were back on the grind to find a way to access the living world. Once again, Vaggie had to hang back. They decided it would be best for someone to make the hotel slightly more presentable in case the potential patron decided to stop by that evening. A good call, in your opinion.
Beggars can’t be choosers, but their place didn’t seem particularly livable from the outside. Hence, why you thought it would be a good spot to hunker down to begin with.
You and Charlie had slipped into her dad’s place again, this time undetected. After checking out the room of relics once more and without any interruptions, you found nothing that seemed to be of use (from what you could tell, shit was written in ancient tongue).
Your next stop was library where you decided to split up in order to cover more ground.
Now, you wandered aimlessly through the towering shelves of books, unsure of where to start. Having no clue how it was all organized, you settled on the tactic of picking out books at random and letting your luck guide you.
It wasn’t going so well.
You were able to find only one or two books pertaining to the ‘mortal’ world, but neither had anything to do with accessing it. They more so covered history of civilization and travel guides once you were there.
Pulling out another book that looked to be promising, you sighed as that, too, ended up being a dud. Half an hour had easily passed since you began your search, and you were growing despondent.
You wanted to believe that there was some way to get back. Charlie and Vaggie had said so themselves. But if Charlie’s old home was your best shot, you didn’t like your odds looking anywhere else.
No matter how much you tried to stay optimistic, you couldn’t help but dwell on the possibility of being truly stuck here. Finding a way out was starting to feel like finding a needle in a haystack, especially now that you were rummaging through a library that easily held thousands of books.
You hated the thought of not being able to see your friends again. Your family. Stuck in a world where there was a target on your back for simply existing in it.
Your energy was beginning to dwindle. You were slowing down, and your heart felt so heavy.
And you hated it.
You hated the way your vision was beginning to blur and how your sunglasses were fogging up as your face grew warmer.
Your sleeve wiped away the first tear that threatened to slip past, but you were too slow for the second. It left a wet streak down your cheek before you were able to dab it away. You wanted to be careful of your makeup.
When Charlie was getting you ready earlier, you couldn’t bring yourself to tell her about the paint missing from your hands. You wanted to, but every time you thought you found the courage to say it, your throat grew tight, choking you into silence.
The most you could do was suggest a setting spray or powder to make sure it really stayed put. You told her you were just worried about the possibility of it coming off. Even if you couldn’t pull the truth from your own mouth, you wanted to take whatever precautions you could.
Your precautions, it seemed, were still not enough as the paint transferred onto your sleeve. Leave it to tears to ruin a girl’s makeup. You need to find someplace with a reflection to see if you could cover it up somehow.
As if on cue, you heard Charlie walking into your aisle. You felt relieved as she could probably blend the new smudges you’d created before anyone could see them.
“Hey, sorry but do you think you could help me out real quick?” you ask as you turned to her with your hand covering your cheek.
You nearly jumped out of your skin as you were greeted not by the sight of your newest friend but her father instead.
His hands were propped up on his staff, and his eyebrows were raised nearly to his hairline. He had a smug smile on his face to compliment it. Like he had caught you in the act.
There was nothing suspicious about looking at books in a library, though. Was there?
Adjusting your sunglasses so they were back in place, you put on the most charming smile you could conjure.
‘Hi—Good morning, Mr. Morningstar!”
“Hello, again,” he hummed, tilting his head as he watched you. “I didn’t think I would be seeing you again so soon.”
“Right, uh…Well, we had to leave in such a hurry yesterday. Charlie wasn’t able to find what she came for, so we’re back!” You lifted your shoulders to appear more excited than you were. At least you weren’t lying.
His finger started tapping on his apple.
“It’s quite interesting she didn’t think to give me any heads up. Almost like she’s trying to hide something…” He looked down at the book you were still holding for a moment then back at you.
Your heartrate spiked.
“What is it you’re looking for exactly?” He walked up next to you and made an act of looking through some of the books on the shelves you had just gone through.
“Huh? Oh, I’m not completely sure what Charlie needs, but she said I was welcome to look around in here,” you said, holding the book closer to your chest in hopes of hiding its title. “But I understand it’s your library, so if you’d prefer I not be in here, I’ll leave.”
He paused. With a heavy sigh, he closed his eyes and pressed the apple of his staff to his lips.
“Look,” he began, turning back around to face you, “you said you were relatively new here, correct?”
You nodded, unsure of where this was going.
“I don’t know how it happened, but I can imagine the change was sudden, and it can be pretty hard to accept,” he said as he made a gesture with his hand. “I don’t blame you for seeking out ways to feel like you’re still in touch with your life before.”
You looked away, tight lipped.
It was hard, but you didn’t want to have to accept it. You weren’t dead. Not yet. Which meant returning to your life before was still an option for you.
“I’m very grateful to have met your daughter,” you said, shaking your head and looking back at him.
His eyes were trained on you, and it no longer felt as if he was trying to look through you or figure out your intentions. Rather, he was looking at you.
“It all would’ve been much worse for me if I hadn’t,” you continued. “She’s given me a safe place to stay and has been trying to help me in any way she can, and I feel very lucky for that.”
You looked back at him with a soft smile. Soft but genuine. Meeting Charlie and Vaggie was the only bout of good luck you’d had since being sent to Hell.
A smile grew on his face in return, and for once, you didn’t feel threatened by it.
“That makes me happy to hear,” he said. “She’s always been much too kind for a place like this.”
“I suppose so,” you chuckled. “I think that just means you did a pretty good job raising her.”
“Aha…I hope so…” he glanced away, sharp teeth beginning to peek through his lips. He then reached a hand out towards you. “May I see that book?”
Hesitating for a moment, you passed it to him. He read over the title before looking up at the endless shelves.
“Come with me,” he said, walking down the aisle.
You followed him in silence. As he turned the corner, you passed a large arched window that allowed red light to stream through. It illuminated the few specs of dust in the air, and when he walked through it, it turned his hair and skin a blush pink.
As you passed under the light, it felt as though all your prior nervousness washed away.
Yesterday, you wanted nothing more than to be as far from this man as possible.
Now, you felt at ease as he guided you through his labyrinth of a library.
He began pulling books from the shelves here and there, handing them off to you. When you looked them over, you realized they were all pertaining to the living world. You knew better than to hope he’d give you one that held the key to getting home…but what if?
You chatted with him a bit about Charlie and her hotel as you went on through the aisles. You were a little surprised by how much he didn’t know about her plans.
After a few minutes, your arms were filled with a stack almost up to your chin.
“That should do it!” he announced, turning to you with a wide grin as he brushed the dust from his hands. His eyes lingered on your face.
“Thank you so much! This is really kind of you,” you said politely. “I’ll be sure to give them back when I’m—uh…done with them!”
“No rush at all. I’ll be sure to stop by soon to see what all my dear daughter has been up to,” he said with a smirk.
You said your goodbyes and watched as he walked away. The smile adorning your face was subconscious, and your chest felt full and warm.
The weight of all the books was making your arms tired. You had yet to look at what he pulled out for you, but you could wait until you were back at the hotel to rifle through them. You probably wouldn’t be able to find anything better than what he had given you, so you decided to meet back up with Charlie.
She found some things that looked promising, as well. You figured she would have told you more about them if her eyes hadn’t landed on your cheek. The cheek that was out on display for the whole world to see as both your arms were full of the books her father had pulled out for you.
