🩷How to tell someone about your regression🩷

🧃This is just some tips on how to do it, aka how I usually do it. If another way works for you that's great! This is just some idea on how to do it and be comfortable with it!🧃

🩷videos and online resources, if you are shy about explaining it yourself there are some great Textposts and videos online that explain regression and what it is, I have some myself on my tik tok and Instagram (I'll link the TikTok below) and there is a short film on YouTube called "too little" that's awesome🩷

🧃explain, I like to start by explaining what agereggression is, or even ask if they know something about it already, sometimes they do and that can be a great point to work from🧃

🩷be open, be open about why you regress at least as much as you are comfortable, people are kess likely to react poorly if they know why and can understand it🩷

🧃text message, preparing a text message or letter in advance, maybe even with a friend or cg, can be super helpful, especially if you experience going nonverbal🧃

🩷be sure, do not open up to someone because you feel forced or scared, be sure you feel safe with the person and exposing such a vulnerable side to them, nobody is entitled to your safe space🩷

🧃test the water, I like to hint at regression and test the waters first, wearing jewelry with kiddo nicknames or similar on it or having merch from more well known brands, if someone recognizes them and asks about it you know there is base knowledge🧃

🩷open up, I like to let people know about my trauma and other trauma-responses first, once they are aware of certain things it helps with the talk later on as it won't be as much if a shock that you might have to cope in unconventional ways🩷

It's healthy to acknowledge how we feel, why don't you help me write down what you're thinking? Sometimes it's easier to write than to speak, and that's okay. I won't read it unless you want me to. Tw: crying/emotional breakdown

part one part three

The two of them made it to the front of Steve's house where Eddie tried the doorknob unsuccessfully. Steve started forward for a minute before reaching down to his shorts pockets and pulling out a keyring with about a hundred keys on it. Eddie raised an eyebrow but otherwise stayed silent as he watched his friend unlock the house.

Inside Eddie was met with a spotless, upper class suburban home. If not for the obvious signs of Steve wandering about the downstairs foyer and into the spacious kitchen. Hair products sat unpacked in a plastic bag at the bottom of the steps, three separate bats with varying degrees of diy monster proofing were leaned against the counter and Eddie counted six mismatched flip flops. Six.

Steve made a sharp turn to flop onto his fancy couch with no care to host Eddie at all, Eddie honestly didn't mind. He suspected Steve wasn't in the headspace to do much more than point at stuff he wanted and nap. Though Eddie was also keen on figuring out what triggered this sorta decline in behavior. It was so very out of character for Steve and left the other young adults grasping for an explanation. Sure, he had a slight idea on what might be going on but he had no idea how to help steve. Eddie looked at Steve, his long legs tucked up under his chest and his face turned to the side, cradled in his arms. He looked like a toddler who passed out on the floor, he sort of was acting like one too. Eddie smiled down at his shoes and moved to make his way to Steve's kitchen in search of some water.

He felt a weird protective tug towards his friend, one he hadn't really expected to ever feel for another adult. He liked Steve an awful lot but this felt different from just liking Steve, he wanted to wrap Steve up and carry him around (a feat he definitely didn't think he could do), he imagined tucking Steve in and playing him soft music. He pictured taking care of steve.

Putting his newfound feelings away Eddie turned back towards the living room, a large cup of iced water dripping precariously in his grasp. He found Steve had slumped over onto his side and opened his eyes staring blankly forward at the tv. Eddie looked at it contemplating putting something on before shutting the idea away for now, who knows what a guy like Steve watches.

“Hey stevie'' eddie crouched down in front of steves line of vision, “drink” steve looked at the cup then back at eddie who in turn pushed the water closer to his face, “drink please” that got steve to finally sit up and reach out for the water, he was pretty clumsy though and managed to spill a good amount onto the carpet below. Eddie let out a startled laugh and reached forward to steady the cup in Steve's grasp.

Soon enough half the water was drained into Steve's mouth (and down his shirt) and Steve, satisfied with himself, plopped back down on his side. Eddie raised an eyebrow at the mess, Steve Syre was acting like a child, the usual Steve would throw a fit and change on the spot. Eddie moved the glass to the table and tried to think of a way to get answers out of steve. He felt it over his head while also coming to the conclusion that Stevie probably had even less of a clue.

“Where's your room?” Steve shook his head and buried his nose into the fabric of the sofa, Eddie rolled his eyes, “you're all wet, we gotta get you some new clothes please” there was a moment of hesitation and Eddie felt confused more than frustrated or even amused at this point.

“Steve, what's going on?” Steve sniffled into the couch and shrugged, “you don't know?” he nodded his head and placed his arms up over his mused hair. Eddie sighed and dropped down onto his bum, fully sitting besides Steve now.

Steve’s shoulders shook a bit as he sniffled again and Eddie realized he had started crying. Eddie panicked and lifted his hands up to hover over Steve's shoulders. He hadn't seen the boy cry like ever and though he was adjusting to seeing him vulnerable this was a whole new level of openness. A raw sob tore itself out of Steve's mouth and Eddie let his hands fall onto the others shirt not knowing what else he could do. Steve jumped at the contact and flung himself up to be sitting.

“Steve,” Eddie leaned back and pulled his arms to his lap, “Steve what's wrong?” Steve gasped and shook his head rapidly, chest heaving and face bright red. Just as Eddie opened his mouth to ask another question, Steve opened his arms up in the universal sign of ‘hug’, he sniffled harshly and grabbed at the air between them.

“Ebbie!” he cried out pitifully, “help” eddie dove forward and wrapped his friend in his arms. Steve grabbed onto Eddie's shirt tightly and continued to sob into his neck and shoulder, rubbing his face and subsequently his snot into the fabric of Eddie's shirt. Eddie found it hard to even remotely take notice of the grossness, instead preoccupied with whispering reassurance into the space above Steve's head and running his fingers through his hair.

Steve leaned over dangerously on the couch to properly hide himself away in Eddie's chest. Eddie pulled him forward until he toppled over off the sofa and landed in Eddie's lap, bug bitten legs immediately tucking themselves away between Eddie's jeans. Eddie rocked the both of them back and forth letting Steve ride out this wave of emotion.

After however many minutes of gentle swaying Steve settled down and leaned back out of Eddie's neck, their eyes met and Eddie's heart clenched at the sight. Steve's eyes were puffy and irritated, tear tracks running violent streaks down his blotchy cheeks, he did in fact have some snot running from his nose though Eddie was not easily grossed out. Steve took in a shaky breath and slumped back a bit.

“Lets go get cleaned up?” Eddie offered, barely above a whisper. Steve nodded and scooted back off his lap. Eddie heaved himself up then pulled Steve along by his forearms. Steve slowly led the way up the stairs and down a very large hallway to a door with probably the most padlocks on any door eddie had ever seen. he had been in some sketchy places before but this rivaled all other, steve was maybe a bit more paranoid than the rest of their group had been aware of.

Thankfully Steve seemed to have left his room open so Eddie didn't even have to consider navigating that whole ordeal with a very sensitive boy in his arms. Steve's bedroom looked much cleaner than eddies but not at all as clean as Eddie had expected it to be. Pajamas were thrown about the bed, clothes spilling from a dresser and closet. He had what Eddie supposed was the manliest version of a vanity he could get (a plain desk with a wide mirror propped up on its top) alongside a normal desk covered in cassettes and vhs tapes. Of course a guy who worked at the video store had all the best movies for himself.

Steve moved to the bed and pulled Eddie along weakly. Eddie let it happen, too distracted by taking in Steve harringtons bedroom (and weird patterned wallpaper). Eddie jolted back to himself when he remembered the original purpose of going upstairs. He stopped walking and lightly tugged Steve to face him.

“Stevie boy could you please change into something clean?” Eddie smiled gently at Steve who pondered the question for a moment before turning to his closet and digging into the contents, “grab me a shirt please too?” Eddie called out before turning to look at the bed.

The bed was stripped? Pillows and some mismatched sheets and blankets thrown on the end but otherwise it was completely stripped naked. Eddie moved forward to start putting the bedding in order while he listened to Steve continue to bump about behind him. Just as he finished the fitted sheet he began to get suspicious at how long it was taking Steve to get changed. Eddie turned around and was met with the sight of Steve Harringon with a backwards Abba t-shirt and his head stuck in an arm hole. Eddie laughed and walked forwards to fix him up.

“How did you manage that?” he huffed as he pulled the shirt over the right way this time, Steve stared at his face blankly. His eyes drooped and face was still pretty red. Eddie sighed and scooped up a new shirt for himself.

“Okay go get in bed, we’ll talk when you wake up” Steve held his arms up wordlessly, Eddie laughed and pulled the other to stand. Steve walked back to his bed, still holding Eddie's hand. And flopped down on his face into the new sheets. Eddie hovered over the edge of the bed watching as Steve got himself settled.

“Alrighty well uh i'll just go hangout- oh wait” eddie looked back at the door minutely before turning back to steve, “when are your parents coming home?” Steve pointed at a calendar hung over his desk and Eddie wandered over. He turned back to st4ve surprised.

“That's like…” he counted over the dates, “two weeks? They've been gone the entire month already?” Eddie looked at the lump that was Steve but received no answer, he wasn't really sure what he was expecting anyways. The knowledge that Steve's parents had been gone that long already did explain why the downstairs seemed untouched by anyone but steve. Surely he wouldmt leave his weird weapons out for his mom to stumble upon.

“Right well then I'll go wait on the couch and you will have a good nap” Steve didn't answer again but he did turn on his side to watch Eddie. Eddie smiled and walked to the bed to pull the covers up around his friend's shoulders. Steve yawned and closed his eyes so Eddie lingered around his bedside just to be sure he was safe. After a few silent moments he slipped out of the room, leaving the door cracked, and wandered back towards the living room.

Loving your Kiddo or Carer

According to their love language ♡

Someone's Love Language is how they feel and express love and affection.

Below the cut are the Five Love Languages, and a list of things you can do to demonstrate your love in that language! Sadly, most of these are for Kiddos/Carers that are able to see eachother often, but some may also work for long-distance too!

Acts of Service! - doing something, big or small, that aids (serves) someone ♡ Helping them with schoolwork or a work project - even if they're just bouncing ideas off you! ♡ Doing some of their least enjoyed chores ♡ Breakfast in bed, making lunches for them, and/or preparing dinner ♡ "I can do that for you."/"Let me do that for you?" (But be careful with tone! You do it because you want to be helpful, not because you feel obligated!) ♡ Honey-Do Bank - (or you can rename it however you like!) using a small container, make a little "bank" for them to put suggestions in - whatever Acts of Service they prefer; Alternatively, if they're the type that has a hard time asking for assistance, they can use the "bank" to ask for help with things! !! Things to Avoid !! x Breaking commitments x Making more work for them x Acting put-out when asked to help

Gifts! - giving something, big or small, that brings joy to someone ♡ Something from their wishlist, or that they've talked about wanting ♡ Something that will be useful for them ♡ Something that pertains to their special interest(s) ♡ Make something for them - it doesn't have to be extravagant! Baked goods, a poem, or oragami figure - something that you know they'll enjoy ♡ Small, daily/weekly tokens to express appreciation and care !! Things to Avoid !! x Thoughtless Gifts - material things that don't hold any real meaning other than monetary value x Neglecting a birthday or holiday - they may be expecting something, even if they're trying not to; don't let them down! x Breaking the Bank - you don't have to have money to give tokens of affection and appreciation! The cost of the gift does not equate to how much love is shown/felt. You're meant to be showing that you care and pay attention to their likes and needs!

Quality Time! - taking time to spend with someone, staying focused on them ♡ Listen to them gush about their interests or newest fixation ♡ Board games or Video Games you can play together ♡ Movie nights! ♡ Home Camping / Make a pillow/blanket fort together! ♡ Read a book together - choose a book that both of you are interested in, whether or not you've read it before, and set aside time each day for Reading! One of you can read aloud, or you can take turns! ♡ Date Jar - find a small box or jar and let them fill it with "date" ideas - things that you can do together !! Things to Avoid !! x Distractions and failure to listen! The purpose of quality time is to be focused on each-other x Postponing activities - once in a while is okay, but if it happens to often they may feel you don't care

Words of Affirmation! - using compliments and encouragement to uplift someone ♡ Unsolicited compliments and affirmations, apropos of nothing in particular; just remind them how wonderful they are, and how much they mean to you ♡ Remember to say "I love you" ♡ Praise! Even for little things like completing daily chores; "Thank you" and "I'm proud of you" go a long way ♡ Letters - Write letters to them! Pretend you're a Regency Hero(ine) professing their love on paper ♡ Highlights - Use a notebook to write down quotes and/or song lyrics that make you think of them! ♡ Playlist - compile a playlist of songs that make you think of them or how you feel about them ♡ Love Box - fill a small box (or jar, or whatever you have on hand!) with slips of paper, each one with an affirmation or reason why you love them! When they're having a bad day, and you're not around, they can pull a slip and be reminded that you care for them !! Things to Avoid !! x Insults - even small digs at their flaws can be taken to heart, be gentle and encouraging with your words! x Withholding affirmations - don't neglect to say "I love you," even if you're upset with them,

Physical Touch! - using physical contact to express affection and encouragement ♡ Hugs! ♡ Snuggling while reading or watching a movie ♡ Holding hands while walking or riding in the car ♡ Headpats, a hand on the shoulder, any small touch if you're passing by ♡ TICKLE WARS (only works if at least one of you is ticklish) ♡ Coupons! - use a few sheets of paper to make some homemade coupons, each redeemable for one free hug, snuggle, kiss, or whatever other kinds of physical affection they enjoy !! Things to Avoid !! x Harsh or "Disciplinary" touch - never touch them with anger x Withholding touch/contact, especially as "punishment"
