to be fair to pream there are definite benefits to the hell house. because it's awesamdad ending, he's not a prisoner. definitively. hard line drawn. he gets his own marker for the house grocery list and everything. in a house full of wardens and prisoners in their iterations he's the...roommate? he can make snipes at j!Sam and face zero consequences. d!sam marriage trump card. ring on his finger etc. a lot of what ... really sucks about awesamdad ending is that it's Just Sam, really. p!dream has to grapple with forever with sam and just sam while dealing with all the demons of uh 20 years of being stalked and abused by this guy that he's now married. yay. part of what helps with birdhouse to counter that is just that there are other people around? he can make friends with people that havent you know devoted their lives to keeping him (tm). and there's something to do! he's got to focus on Getting Home, which means less of the feeling of "oh we're at the finish line now what." that weighs on him very heavily in awesamdad ending (the original). that being said ,, yeah, new traumas galore as well :') we put him through the wringer a little bit ... lots of fucked up things to witness.and not be able to do anything about. and there's a warden and a prisoner and a basement, again...

I cannot imagine the pain and heartache that Madi went through knowing her time with her mommy was limited 😭 I want to wrap her up in a blanket and protect her at all costs. How did Madi handle the first months after her mommy was gone?

It was agonizing for Clarke as a mom watching her daughter cry and scream because she wants her mom back and Clarke being powerless to help because, yeah, she too wants her wife back.

Therapy was such a big help tho, and to think Clarke didn't want to put her in it at first when Niylah suggested it, thinking she was too young to be talking to a stranger about how her mommy is dying but Niylah told her "I am going to die Clarke. I think it's better for her to be ready for it than not."

Madi is inconsolable at first of course. Those first few days are the worst of it. Because Clarke had to call in for Niylah's body before Madi woke up and when she did and Clarke had to break the news to her, Clarke couldn't keep herself together at her daughter screaming for them to bring her mommy back. And after that first cry, she quiets down. Even during the funeral she seems so apathetic, like she's in a trance. Its normal the therapist tells her but it hurts to see her little girl do nothing all day, just stare out the window as if she expects Niylah to come back to them.

Its almost at the one month mark when Madi breaks down again, this time because Clarke changes her bed. She can't deal with sleeping in the same bed Niylah passed on so she replaces it but to Madi, who woke up and checked the room everyday like clockwork, knowing she wouldn't find her mom there but hoping, its like Clarke is taking away the place where mommy would come back to, because Niylah was always in bed, first just mid afternoon above the covers taking a nap and later sleeping in it, nearly all day long.

Clarke breaks down with her, saying sorry, sorry, that she misses her too and she knows Madi is too young to understand but Clarke is just as in much pain as her.

It gets better with time, as things do. Madi starts to smile and laugh again, and she'll play in the afternoons instead of staring out the window for hours. She goes back to being a bright happy little girl who will every now and again climb in bed with Clarke and cry on her chest about how much she misses mommy. And then she asks Clarke if she'll ever replace mommy and Clarke tells her no one can replace her mom. Good, no one can replace her mom for her either.

I'm going to have to eat the L on this most recent big run because my having covid is giving me vertigo and playing Splatoon makes me incredibly dizzy. It makes me really sad tbh

I managed to get either a silver or bronze statue so far but because I can't pull my weight and am not on teams that can pull extra I'm just not gonna get numbers I'm happy with.
