Definitely brightened up a gloomy Sunday making this 🌿🏞

Check out the trap on this fanged pitcherplant (Nepenthes bicalcarata)!!! This unique pitcherplant uses a pair of fangs to produce nectar and lure prey directly above the opening of their traps. Interestingly they also have a symbiotic relationship with a species of carpenter ant, which nest in the hollow tendrils that support the trap. The inside walls of the pitchers are not very slippery and the fluid within is lacking acidity/high enzyme levels which allow the ants to hunt and swim for fallen insects!!! A swamp of carnivorous pitcher plants. These are Darlingtonia pitcher plants, and they grow native in some parts of Oregon and California. If you see some, be careful not to disturb them as they have a limited range and only grow in low-elevation temperate swamps

Sunday creations, a carnivorous plant bog terrarium 🌿

Check out the wicked nectar glands on my Sun Pitcher Plant (Heliamphora tatei x sarracenoides)!!!😍🤤 The globs of nectar produced by these glands attract insects, which slip and fall into the pitcher. In the third picture you can see these glands even occur on the bottom parts of the trap, luring insects up into the danger zone. This didn't post yesterday, but oh well. Design noted below:

Alien: it's everyone's second favorite West Virginia cryptid, the Flatwoods monster! The coloration is based on eyewitness reports, which described it a having a red face and green body.

Carnivorous plant: I decided at the last second to not do an Audrey-ish monster, so I drew from another species of carnivore plant as inspiration instead.

Swamp Monster: It's big, it's green, and it's swampy! Obviously based on the Swamp Thing from DC Comics. I gave it a Brundlefly head to make it a bit more distinctive, with pink eyes to make it pop out a bit. Notice the split human jaws.

Wendigo: No, wendigoes aren't skull-faced were-reindeers. They are, in certain Native American tribes, what happens if a human resorts to cannibalism; they turn into an ever-hungry forest spirit. I wanted him to have an emanciated, frostbitten appearance, without stupid antlers.
