Or... is there an assassin hiding to kill me? Since when have you caught on?

I really like this show, the Prince may be ruthless but he's smart. He couldn't save Mong-woo, otherwise the whole thing would have fallen apart and the country would have been in disarray. Being a leader means making those kinds of no-win decisions, so I am still with him despite it.

Whaaaat? You could have told me how this episode would end and I would have laughed assuming you were making a joke. Clearly she is up to something but... Maybe she assumed the king didn't know and thinks she is revealing it in the most embarrassing way possible to provoke the king to do something drastic? (Or maybe she is just thinking she'll finally get a grandson 😂) At least I don't need to wait a week for the next episode. But I'm not ready for the series to be over 😭.

My pulse was racing this whole episode and not for the reason it used to race with earlier ones. I see shit's getting serious (on top of all the serious shit we had before).

I'm not usually a revenge person but this was so satisfying (blood below):

The other sageuk's I've watched the most devious bad guys always live forever. I'm so happy this one was taken out early, though I suspect someone else will take his place...

Captivating The King ~ Micro expression
Jo Jungsuk has put in a lot of work... this is only a snippet that encapsulates the horrors of what he's put her through. You're the woman I called enemy, the woman I tortured, the woman I jailed, the woman I had slain... yet you stand before me through new eyes. You never abandoned me, you never lied to me, you loved me so you returned. This ninja is brilliant. No dialogue, origamied every emotion.

Does Senior Court Lady Dong know? 👀 If so, she's more perceptive than Yi In 😂
Also even though I watch a lot of period dramas my heart always breaks when a child is made to marry an old ass man 💔

I thought at first that it would be revealed that Yi In always intended to give up the throne to the Prince Royal and that he only took the throne to protect him but I’m actually kinda digging how they’re not doing that.
Like it makes the character so much more interesting that he does in fact say he committed treason to steal the throne from his brother. TBH that last scene between them where the King nearly kills him, is pretty gut wrenching. And then to go outside and realise that your own uncle was probably behind the whole thing?! I’d probably be pissed too and get back at everyone by taking the power everyone keeps telling me i’m “fated” for
It’s also a really nice way to show how Hee Soo balances Yi In. She truly can read his heart and that’s why she hugs him and forgives him for his sin. Because in the end, even if he didn’t intend it, his unrelenting need for justice lead him to the right path and he did in fact protect the Prince Royal all this time.
I’m really curious to see how this pans out in the last few episodes, and even though I’m pulling my hair out with the miscommunication between my little lovebirds and all their plans always being so reckless, I’m enjoying how great the writing is. Like these characters are SO flawed, but they are kind of a ying and yang to each other that’s really satisfying and beautiful to watch.
Really shaping up to be my favourite drama in a while.
