dolph laserhawk, immediately after getting pregnant/having kids, starts wearing things like this

Dolph’s babies, he’s a good dad they’re just in a difficult situation

So I decided in my LaserHen au the reason why Dolph is capable of getting pregnant despite being amab is because Eden really does not want to lose his "good genes"

Obviously in the manga Dolph was taken from his mother because of those genetics, so I'm thinking that Eden put a sort of "retirement" protocol in Dolph (and other super soldiers amab) in that if he survived military duty and got to an age he could settle down, Eden could basically keep Dolph on a leash AND still have a supply of super soldiers by "a total unexpected pregnancy that's totally not Eden's doing!"

Dolph just accidentally activated said protocol early, because Eden being the control freaks they are did not consider how horny and vulnerable a guy raised in a lab would be

This also means that unlike typical babies who are genetically 50/50 of each parent , Dolph's kids is roughly 70 to 85% of his DNA

Probs finish these later but I’m really enjoying throwing Dolph through an emotional rollercoaster , Sarah is fun to write being manipulative more people should do it

Also yeah I changed his kids’ names, they’re actually got some connection to their respective bio dad (wonder if anyone can guess that connection 👀)

Wasn’t it enough that Eden violated Dolph’s autonomy by making him a war machine? They just had to experiment with his reproductive system without even telling him?!

Is it obvious I got complicated feelings on mother/parent hood? Because I do lmao and I’m shoving my feelings on to the depressed cyborg

laserhen/mpreg au laserfrog thought but I'm really liking the idea that as Dolph's pregnancy progresses he gets really self conscious about his body and gets genuinely scared of what'll happen to him and the baby once the due date comes. Being betrayed by Alex is not helping Dolph's mental state and he just keeps getting plagued by questions with no answers

Also not helped that Sarah is basically keeping Dolph as a prisoner since , you know, a pregnant cyborg isn't practical for missions and being locked up in a white prison cell is making those thoughts harder to deal with (don't worry Jade helps get Dolph a bunch of pillows and blankets)

But Bullfrog, being a frog hybrid,never had any opportunities to witness mammal pregnancy so up close and is completely awe struck by the fact Dolph is literally growing a person inside him. Just , completely amazed he gets to watch the baby grow in real time and will not stop reminding Dolph he's incredible actually and it's Alex's loss for not being there for him and the baby

Bullfrog has to do an improve C section in the super max which definitely traumatised everyone, but at least Dolph's baby came out cute despite the blood loss

can dolph lactate in laserhen au?

Another Laserhen thought actually is I think Dolph would struggle with not losing his temper at his kids , at least when Troy and Lucy were babies/toddlers. Dolph got more patient when Leo came into the picture and Leo as a result had a different set of early memories compared to his older siblings (I mean, Leo also didn’t spend his first few years raised in the super max either so 🤷‍♀️)

To be clear I don’t think Dolph would ever hurt a child, but even within canon I think Dolph struggles with intrusive thoughts of hurting people he cares about and becoming suddenly responsible to two very small, very fragile living creatures would’ve made those thoughts so much worse to deal with

Especially when he has barely any energy and he has no idea why they won’t stop crying oh god why won’t they stop crying-?!

It sometimes got so intense that Dolph would ,just, put the crying kid on the floor and lock himself in the bathroom to scream or whatever , maybe even break the mirror (a common occurrence actually) before being able to look anyone in the eye

Dolph wonders if this what his mother felt when she had to take care of him, if she ever felt like she was going to hurt her own baby from the stress and maybe that’s why she did what she did, thinking that letting Dolph go into Eden’s care was the only way to ensure that she could never hurt him

The duality of Laserhen

Me: Dolph is a character who canonically has been raised to be a weapon and stripped of his autonomy from a young age, therefore struggles to see himself as a person. So in the Laserhen au it’s a character study where Dolph’s role as a weapon is shifted to becoming that of a mother due to forces outside his control. It’s a question of how much he loses himself in that transformation process that eventually lands him responsible for another , much more vulnerable human being , or if he even had anything to lose before that event happens. It’s putting a new perspective onto the trauma Dolph has experienced before the show’s events,  from Eden and Alex. But most importantly, it’s about Dolph reflecting on his mother and her own struggles, Dolph looking back on the choices she had to make now that he has found himself in her position.

Also me: Dolph is a wonderful mommy who loves his babies with his whole heart and he’s gonna have so many babies and he will spoil each one with so much love and he may even have triplets-
