Estoy melancólica, perdida en el pasado y preocupada por el futuro. Ninguna parte de mí está preparada para coquetear, sonreír o actuar como si tuviera la vida resuelta en el presente.

I’ve always loved storms, especially in the summer. They have an energy to them.
A power.
An intensity.

All The Wrong Plays by C.W. Farnsworth is now live!
He’s got all the right moves.
And makes…all the wrong plays.
Will Aster excels at two things: soccer and self-sabotage. Following a viral incident involving him and the club owner’s wife, his only option to continue playing is overseas on FC Kluvberg—a team known for not tolerating scandal. A last chance and a harsh wake-up call.
Sophia Beck has spent her life avoiding football. Growing up in the shadow of her family’s stratospheric success in the sport left scars. About to begin her final year of university, she’s eager to pursue a career in photography, not receive an internship assignment involving her brother’s team. The last thing she expects is to meet a guy—a player—who makes her want to watch a game.
He loves soccer.
She resents it.
Those contrary viewpoints collide when Will and Sophia discover something stronger than their conflicting emotions toward the sport—their feelings for each other.
But…one wrong play can cost the game.
And wrong plays are Will’s specialty.

After seeing a friend post about this, and then discovering this is a sad-girl-runs-into-childhood-crush (who is now a pro hockey player!!!)-and-they-agree-to-fake-date-for-her-sister’s-wedding book – I basically had no choice but to drop everything and read this immediately.
The first thing you need to know is that this is very good and very swoony (and pretty spicy), and that you will adore Drew pretty much immediately.
The second thing you need to know is that this is very much a grief book. So while, yes, there is a sports romance element to this, it takes a backseat to the family drama and to much of Harper and Drew’s romance for about 60% of the book. I thought with all the elements at play, the plot was well-balanced between a heavy romantic drama and a tropey hockey romance – it dove deep into these characters, Harper’s grief, and their shared experiences (though without major flashbacks to the five summers of their childhood), while also offering up humor and heat – and yes, hockey.
I also want to note that and this is my first C.W. Farnsworth book, and though the book is defintely readable if you’ve never read her (extensive!) backlist before, there are several points where I wondered if characters who pop up (ahem, Harper’s coworkers and famous clients) connect to other books. It doesn’t happen so often that you feel like you’re missing something major, but definitely enough to make you curious.
Overall, I really enjoyed this! Definitely a summertime sadness vibe, perfect for winding down the month of August.

Winning Mr. Wrong by C.W. Farnsworth is live! Mr. Wrong /ˈmistər rôNG/ noun: the polar opposite of the perfect man. “A prime example of Mr. Wrong is a certain quarterback incapable of letting a grudge go.“ A reality television dating show was never part of my post-college plan. Nearly broke, unemployed, recently dumped me let my best friend Haley decide it should be. They say don’t make…
