Alright roomies. I plan on sleeping on a deck chair for most of the week, but I just want it to be known that I don't care where I sleep when it gets too cold outside (or when i find too many bugs are on me bc ew mosquitos). So you guys can choose where you want to sleep and I'll just fall into bed with one of you!
See, I personally find this quest to find pagan/pre-Christian elements in Welsh/Irish literature quite unnerving - I don't know about anyone else.
There's something to be said about genuinely discovering pre-Christian elements in a narrative or story and that being where evidence and study has led you. But I see some people on this fruitless quest to find pagan elements in very Christian texts and sometimes it feels like if no pagan elements can be found, people start making stuff up out of whole cloth - and that can be very dangerous for already not-well known texts in minoritised languages!
There's already so much misinformation out there about Irish/Welsh texts and literature in general - so it hurts to see people carelessly adding to the misinformation either out of ignorance or lack of respect for the source material.
I promise you the source material being Christian doesn't ruin it - you can in fact, enjoy these myths without making them into something they're not!
This dazzling world premiere welcomes you into Jaja’s bustling hair braiding shop in Harlem where every day, a lively and eclectic group of West African immigrant hair braiders are creating masterpieces on the heads of neighborhood women. During one sweltering summer day, love will blossom, dreams will flourish and secrets will be revealed. The uncertainty of their circumstances simmers below the surface of their lives and when it boils over, it forces this tight-knit community to confront what it means to be an outsider on the edge of the place they call home.
Probably the funniest bullying I ever experienced was in seventh grade, when Brittany C. told me that my pants (reasonably priced, cheaply made green plaid capris, which my mom had picked out at Kohl’s and I had indifferently submitted to wearing) were ugly, and my feelings weren’t even hurt because I was like “yeah, fair.”
"Hey Britt, I know you've been feeling a little off, but it's still your birthday and you deserve to be treated like the absolute gem that you are. Thank you for being so amazing, and being the best friend and roommate a girl coul dask for. Once we get back from spring break i'd like to do a girls night with you - this time without the power outage!
- Love, Mercedes.
A star in your name because you're one of the brightest stars in the galaxy.
And two succulents because they love the sun, they're easy to care for as a college student, and having plants around is good for the soul.
maybe it should have bothered henry more than it did to be living in such a new place, but it didn’t. sure, his community in oklahoma was irreplaceable, and given the chance, he’d go back for family. he had just began to reconnect with them and he needed to get back. still, there were benefits to being transported to ivy cost and starting a new life. maybe it was selfish, but he was content. he was away from kingpin, he could start over, and he had a rollerrink. all things considered, life was okay.
“at least we still have this, right?” henry smiled warmly, handing the other a pair of skates. “all this memory stuff has been really messing with people, i’m just glad this rink is here.”
@brittanyannesnow-hf - how’s it going, sweetie? working on anything new currently? i’d still love the day we can finally do something together, work wise but also.. i’d love a girls night when you have the chance. just let me know, alright?
