You can't kill my vibe
Like many others, I have been both enchanted and intrigued by the new TYBW opening theme song, "Stars." It has everything! Modern living world fashion! Coffee shop AU! Karaoke sing off! But I think the thing that has really captured everyone’s attention is whatever the hell Ichigo is doing with that guitar.

At first glance there’s some things we can infer. Ichigo’s zanpakutou has been reforged and now he’s a dual wielder. He absolutely has no idea what he’s doing and needs to relearn how to use his sword, so of course he’s going to be clumsy and awkward in the beginning. But if Ichigo has one thing going for him, it’s gonna be his ability to just Square Peg Round Hole his way through any situation. No technique needed, if you can blunt force trauma your way through.
Notably, there are very few characters in Bleach with multiple swords (Ukitake and Kyouraku) and both of them I think we can go so far as to say have achieved mastery, as they have bankai and are Old (TM). So that’s great! Ichigo has some role models to look up to and can be inducted into the dual-wielder Hall of Fame!
Taking a closer look at the guitar in the OP though, it’s not just any double-neck guitar. Ichigo appears to be holding a Gibson EDS-1275, which is the “coolest guitar in rock” according to the Wikipedia page. While never widely used, the guitar was played by a couple of famous musicians such as Elvis Presley, Steve Miller (Steve Miller Band), Don Felder (Eagles), and Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin). I’ll give it to the wiki page, that is pretty damn cool.
[And just for the sake of being thorough: Japanese guitar maker Ibanez produced a double-neck guitar that was based off the Gibson EDS-1275. It looks virtually identical to the Gibson (at least to my untrained eye).]
The Eagles are most famous for their song "Hotel California" and Don Felder famously used a white EDS-1275 for performances of that song. There are lots of various themes and interpretations of "Hotel California", many of which are fun to apply to Ichigo and Bleach. The Eagles vocalist said, “Lyrically, the song deals with traditional or classical themes of conflict: darkness and light, good and evil, youth and age, the spiritual versus the secular. I guess you could say it's a song about loss of innocence” which I think is some interesting fodder to mull on.
BUT! Ichigo is holding a red guitar! And someone else famously had a custom-made, cherry-red EDS-1275. And that someone was Jimmy Page. Page was arguably the one who popularized the EDS-1275, as he famously played it during live performances of "Stairway to Heaven."

I don’t have much to say about "Stairway to Heaven" other than it also seems to be a song about death. However, on a very literal sense, the song is about, well, a stairway to heaven. And you know who is ascending into the heavenly skies in TYBW???

Do any of you have playlists or theme songs for your Touchstarved MCs/OCs? Or a specific sound or genre of music that you associate with them? Or an instrument?
I've made playlists for both my Hound! (Alon) and Alchemist! (Jin) MCs, but there's also specific music vibes that I ascribe to each OC. Jin’s had a very autumnal, woodsy vibe — like The Amazing Devil's music — from the beginning. In comparison, Alon didn't really have a specific sound when I made her playlist (partly because a lot of the songs are there for laughs), but now I think the genre that fits their character would be electro swing, something high-energy, fun and showman-y.
#I find this to be such a fun part of character building!#kind of like making your own movie soundtrack#it's also just really fun to think about the kind of music or sounds that would accompany characters if they were in a movie#what music would play when oc enters and the audience will immediately know ‘ah it’s them.’#does that make sense?#ah screw it ais has his awesome lo-fi study music let's give the mc some unique theme music too#oh! what instruments would be theirs? I know Leander has his guitar and vere has…a flute? In the wake of the breakup, Chay stops using the guitar Kim gifted him. He can't bring himself to get rid of it, but he can leave it in a closet and pretend it doesn't exist.
Kim finds out; maybe he sees Chay's playing someday, and recognizes the old, beat up instrument Porsche originally gave him. Asks what happened to the other one. Chay' still angry, says he doesn't want anything to do with it, the meaningless gift that Kim used to buy his way into Chay's good graces.
Kim doesn't say anything to that. He looks briefly wounded, but of course he covers it, never one to show he's hurt.
Sometime after that, Chay digs out the guitar with the intent of giving it back to Kim. That's when he notices it - etched into the back of the neck: Kim. Except, on closer inspection, he realizes it actually says Kinn, the letters tight in the small space, making the nn look like an m.
Chay realizes several things in that moment: 1. this guitar belonged to Kinn, 2. he must have given it to Kim, 3. this must be Kim's first guitar, and 4. it wasn't such a meaningless gift after all.
He looks at his own guitar, gifted to him by Porsche; it may be old and beat up, but he treasures it. It's a symbol of Porsche's love and sacrifice and support, it allowed Chay to chase his dreams, and as much as he loved that Kim gave him a guitar, this one means the world to him.
And now, he realizes that Kim gave him not just a random guitar, something to bribe Chay with, but something that must carry the same sentiment for him. because Chay has learned a lot about the Theerapanyakul's, now. He knows Kim left the family to pursue music, and he knows it cost him a relationship with his brothers. The fact that he still has Kinn's guitar all these years later shows it can't have been an easy decision.
He wouldn't still have the guitar if it wasn't important to him. The thing must be a decade old at least, yet it's in perfect condition, clearly well-maintained. Loved. And he trusted Chay with it. Even after everything that happened between them, he never asked for it back, even when Chay called it meaningless and unwanted.
That goes a long way in helping Chay understand him a little more, and eventually, forgive him.

My hot infinity train take is that the only character who actually likes ccj and knows them is Tulip, because she’s one of those nerdy teens who prides themselves on knowing niche rock music instead of trashy pop. Lake is therefore cursed with knowledge of ccj and has a big grudge against them because they do not like dad music and they do everything in their power to never hear a ccj song ever again

finally banging out a translation for this song was kinda the inspiration for me to make this post actually
the tldr of this song is that it's an unnamed/unidentified speaker asking to borrow various small things for the sake of somebody else (like 'an inch of frozen sunlight' to provide warmth in a cold world) so you can probably see where i'm going with this
