hmm, okei, time for this ran out. needless to say, the sample size for this poll is not substantial enough to consider the results of any statistical importance.

however, let's pretend for a moment that this genuinely showcases accurate trends in byler tumblr. based on these results, this would mean that over 20% of people enjoy dark concepts and would presumably like to see more,,, but they don't show their support for them via likes / reblogs because they don't want to be harassed. this lack of interactions obviously discourages the creatives who produce such fanworks, which then leads to even less stories and art that explore dark ideas :\

even on a small scale, this poll shows that there are at least a dozen people who feel they'd be mistreated for merely liking a specific subgenre of fanworks, which a) for smaller creatives (like yours truly), that encouragement could mean a lot; and b) this obviously doesn't speak well of the behaviour the overall fandom has displayed throughout the entirety of this year, at least -_-

i mean, for all the dark stuff i talk about i only really have one story of such nature and i've received at least twenty hateful asks for it.

(throughout all this, we also have to consider that the majority of people who even saw this little poll are probably following me and, based on what i write, i'd assume i have a lower-than-average percentage of followers who don't like —or downright despise— dark content)

so yeah. all this is to say that people really need to learn to respect creatives who feel like tackling dark topics in their work. as bylerween approaches and people start working on proper horror stories and artwork that include the dark tropes i mentioned in the original post (murder, obsession, cannibalism, dubious morals and so on), i beg you to please remember that literally none of us actually supports any of those behaviours and instead, we're just people who feel like exploring dark tropes for our art.

if it bothers you, please utilise the adequate tools to curate your online experience so you don't even have to see it. please do not bother the creatives who put out such fanworks, nor harass the people who express their support for the dark media in question.

and if you enjoy it, please support the writers and artists in any way you can, even if you do so anonymously via an ask or an ao3 comment. it genuinely means the world to us when we receive such encouragement :]

I guess an emotional kink would be exactly that, a romantic kink, or just something that makes you feel good and connect with others. In the kink scene, generally most kinks are non-sexual, even if it appears like it is at first glance. It’s more about personal power, a way to process trauma, or to connect deeply with another human (put your trust in them) in a non-sexual, safe way. But then also, kinks in a sexual way are completely fantastic and valid as well with mutual consenting parties.

Anyways!! Enough about that….

I think I’d be open to exploring this! Prob with aged up characters….id have to think of specifics tho, like monster byler? Or succubus or demon? Demon is kind of speaking to me ngl. Idk the options are kind of endless. It could be a good Halloween activity for me. And yeah, Im not sure if Bylerween would be into it or not? I guess you’ll have to wait and see what the mods say.

for anyone curious, my inactivity was bc of losing interest in byler/st + wanting to focus on non-fandom-related projects + my personal life getting a little hectic. i plan on posting some fics for bylerween bc i actually feel inspired by the prompts but idk if i'll be contributing to the fandom anymore after that (at least until s5 comes out)

drew a demodog for bylerween day 2!!! I know byler isn't actually in the drawing but the idea was that they have a demodog as a pet. maybe after the war with vecna was over this one was like that last one left and it was like injured or something and will is too sweet to not do anything so yeah lol
