Wish me luck. I’m going to drive a car for the second time in about 8(?) years. A friend needs a ride home from the pain clinic. (She’s driving us there - the entrance to the highway at this end is a PITA, and she’s good to drive, so it makes more sense to do it that way.)
The first time was a practice yesterday, to make sure I remembered how to operate a car.
#I didn't do that badly at driving#Needed to remember the existance of mirrors#and to not stick my arm out the window before I turned left#My sense of what speed I'm going at is all off of course#but I picked it back up quickly#highway traffic#will be a different challenge though#should be a good time of day#but we'll see#can't wait to see if I remember that the car has a hand brake#or if I fumble for a parking brake pedal when I get in again#I'm not entirely sure how long it's been since I drove#I know I drove a bit over 8 years ago#And I know that a bit less than 6 years ago#we needed both me and my husband to go pick up the rental#because he was the driver#but we were using my credit card#the savings for not having me drive#since he has insurance#are lower than they used to be#as a percentage#but $20/day is $20/day

Ever since I learned that you had to actually teach your kids how to do stuff, it's been so much fun having them around. It's very cute to watch them play with something they've never seen before, or only do something after they see me do it first. Idk how much is code and how much is coincidence, but they're undoubtedly better at living now. And their personalities are so unique!

It doesn't seem to work if they're on your back#Anyways I installed the colorful slugpups mod which is why the names are weird#Caramel was very pale and algae was more green#Now caramel looks like a banana lmao#Here's a fun thing that happened: while exploring subterranean (after quickly escaping outer expanse aka Worm Grass Hell)#Ironically subterranean is safer than what's supposed to be utopia... but I digress#I was exploring blindly for the first time in forever (usually I look at a map) and we found a stowaway#THOSE THINGS ARE SO COOL I was so excited to mess with it#Turns out theyre scarier than they look. And they look pretty scary#So here's the situation: I pissed it off using the body of a lizard#And it reacted and grabbed the lizard#And also me#And also algae#They have three arms and each arm grabs things independently by STABBING THEM djvdjshfkifj#Anyways algae somehow grabs a spear and frees himself#Caramel throws a rock and frees me#Lizard body... Not so lucky#Later on I stupidly got myself eaten by it#And when you die the slugpups mourn you by laying down as close to your body or point of death was#Which was. Under the stowaway#But get this. As algae is being taken away- keep in mind you're basically stabbed by these tentacles-- he somehow manages to nail the thing#And save caramel from being eaten too#Auuughghgh#I have more interesting stories that aren't contrived via my irresponsible curiosity but I've run out of tags. My crowfriends came so close today <3 I love watching their trust in me develop
#I think what makes crows really interesting is that they're not domesticated. Domesticated animals are evolved to be able to truste you#and wild aninmals usually are a lot more wary#but crows got all the traits of a species that lived AMONG humans for centuries and sees humans produce some of their main food sources#and this paired with their brains results in an uncanny ability to conceptualise humans as individuals#obviously you're still huge and loud and scary and make too sudden movements to them sometimes#but just like they recognise faces they're also quick to learn 'oh this SCaRy tHiNG that HUMAN does didn't hurt me' and then they come back#and compared to other species they pick up on this stuff really quickly#and that's how you get a wild bird flying about town to suddenly go 'hey I'll check up on what That Human is doing n peek into their window

One thing I love about hello from the Hallowoods is that no matter how busy I get or how long I go without listening to an episode I can always get back into it without losing any of my hype.
I can always immerse myself back in the story no matter how long it takes me to listen to it and despite the adhd.

I skipped Norwin's debut banner.#I got into Dragalia because of the first FEH collab#Which was right before Norwin's banner#But after the FEH collab I was like yeah I don't feel like playing DL#So I ended up not touching it for a month#Then I picked it back up again and the rest is history.#My initial Dragalia fave was Heinwald but then someone was like#'Norwin kind of seems like your type'#And while he wasn't an Instant Favorite#He grew on me pretty quickly#And has been my favorite character for 3+ years#Which I think is a new record?#But yeah I've changed a lot these past 4 years#Enough to say that the person I was when I drew my first Norwin fanart#And the person I am today#Are pretty different people#Maybe that's why I'm so attached to him (and Norwin/Orion as a ship)#Because they grew on me while I was in a critical maturing phase LMAO#Anyway he's so pretty#I don't know if I'll ever get the art skills to do him justice#Even now I'm kind of unsatisfied with this but it's not Horrible so I guess it's fine to post#Norwin the world!!!#If Norwin has one million fans I'm one of them if Norwin has one fan I am that fan et cetera#If you're still reading this I love you. #Doodles#Original#Another idea smol and I are working on together :D Been a bit!#She came up with the concept on this one and I fell in love with it <3 She's very cool hehe#If you're familiar with the game Minit it has Something of a similar premise - not the same strict time pressure but yes on the time loop#Y'ever notice how in some games it seems like the wandering trader or traveling shop seems to come upon you rather than the other way around#:3c Hm ♪ Wonder how they'd know where you were gonna be :3c#The crux is that you play as the weapons shop owner and you're responsible for supplying the hero and his team with weapons!#Except the BBEG has gotten wise to how the hero keeps defeating him and it sick of it - so the shop owner is cursed to be in a time loop!#I love the concept <3 It sounds so fun to play in and there's still plenty of room to think about the mechanics and how it would be played#As well as the art design! :D#We threw around some character concepts - she's really into Baldur's Gate 3 at the moment so of course they had some influence in hers hehe#Only got the starting party for the moment but there are plans for a full team of 4 plus the shopkeep >:3c And various other NPCs lol#A lot of the gameplay would basically boil down to being a bartering simulator hehe ♪#Very RPG trade-this-for-that style quests - under a time limit! Hehe#Since it's the type of game that pretty much requires replaying sections time-loop-style it's all about how quickly you can trial and error#And then hightail it to where you need to be lol#I think we were also tossing around a nap mechanic to skip right to the time loop reset in case you mess up a run haha#I gotta get back to Majora's Mask at some point I swear#We still have a good bit of concept work to do on the art side of things - she's also been really into pixel art lately and I love pixel art#I also managed to pick up a full release of one of the RPGMakers :D So that's an exciting possibility!#I haven't learned most of its ins and outs yet but I do know About importing custom assets at the very least >:3c#Same with Novelty and I haven't done that yet either lol - all in due time! miles except he's plagued by nightmares where he sees the team getting horribly injured years in the future
he can hardly stand to go to sleep knowing its likely he'll see one of his closest friends getting curb stomped or vomiting blood
he develops insomnia and doesnt know how to talk to the rest of the team about it without bringing up what he saw
after one particularly rough dream, he texts chapa asking if its ok to teleport over and vent. she was quite used to the idea of violence, so her expression didnt shift when he details what he saw, although she visibly seems more guarded on missions
after their first talk, chapa does make an effort to cheer up miles if she can tell he had a rough night and is overthinking about it
[mika is VERY confused when she sees chapa pull miles aside and start whispering things like "its alright dude, no one is hurt, no blood, everyone is ok, dont worry man we're all ok-"]

well I just spent an hour digging through my own dnd notes and social media and also almost cried because I mentioned, in passing, something justin had said about one of his NPCs and he, completely lightheartedly, was like '?? I don't remember that at all. [I mean I'm not making it up?] I think you might be making it up 😏'

Thought I traumatized my cat tonight but after she ran and hid for a while, she came back out (probably so I could see her coughing fit? lol) within idk… 15 minutes. And was fully back to trusting me. Despite the horrid medication I just made her borderline aspirate on.
This medication regime has stopped going well. But I have an idea to try. I wonder if it was the food going off that made her less and less interested in what had initially been super exciting. The tetrapak has been open for 7 days now and it might be it starting to spoil that has made her so resistant/torn about whether or not to eat it.

Thinks oh so hard abt the spiraling upwards clan founders, especially the birchclan founders. Silly lil kitties who's pasts are drenched in blood with the primary regret of not drawing it sooner
#rat rambles#oc posting#warriors posting#spiraling upwards#long story short they had a shitty awful terrible leader who sucked absolutely ass and they tore him to shreds#I mean that literally they pinned him onto the mountain side and slashed and mauled the shit out of him so hard that his lives evaporated#and several of the cats involved in that scene are sill alive and major parts of the story and I love them#oh also the cat that pinned him through a stab through the throat was his own daughter btw everyone hated his ass so much#and for good reason get his ass#alas in the main story I dont rly get to go too deep into how he harmed everyone involved mostly just three main ones#aka bristlestar because shes murtlepaw's ghost mom dawncrackle because hes also haunting murtle and gullspot because shes bristle's kit#so basically all the flashbacks we get involve those three in some form or another#honeystar was also there and involved but Im not currently planning on having her rly talk abt that#most of her more modern angst is the fact that she was forced into leadership against her will#and shes been alive long enough that shes been leading birchclan far longer than she ever lived in her old clan#but she did go through a lot of shit before birchclan was founded and it definitely shaped her a lot#she used to be a very determined and high spirited lil kitty cat who tried to be optimistic#but her family began to slowly be picked off one by one by both the old leader and the one whod later get evicerated#some of the older cats around her hoped it make her back down from her revelutionary ideas but she noticed that and it backfired on them#instead of being worn down to submission she became absolutely Furious and began to lash out more and become more demanding#it got to the point that she really only had two friends in the entire clan and one of them was her aunt whod later also die after coming#out abt having witnessed the leader killing his own kits#that was the final fucking straw for her and she was fully on board when bristle and dawn started looking for cats to join their rebellion#she did get rly frustrated with them as they waited patiently for the right moment but her remaining bestie kept her from going apeshit#so once the big fight finally broke out she was more than eager to join the hoard of cats chasing the bastard upwards#now unlike some of the other cats involved this legitimately actually made her feel a lot better for a while#for the first time in ages she finally felt like she could be optimistic abt smth again and was excited abt the idea of leaving this place#she had lost so much in this damn place since she was an apprentice and just wanted to finally be able to rest easy#but once they got to their new territory and set up camp things went south real fast as a flood fucked everything up#and after losing the only cat she had left in her life and losing her tail and being made deputy on top of that she deteriorated quickly
